Super lovely people! Very helpful and reasonably priced wine! Excellent selection!
Great wine tasting experience!
I went for a wine tasting after visiting the Biltmore house as recommended by the staff. I was super excited about the tasting until I got at the wine counter and have to handle with poor customer sevice from the bartendress named "Rachele" whom in my opnion is not prepared at all to handle with foreigners who don't have English as a first language and who cross the world to visit the winery. Had a frustrating experience through her impatient way to do her job, which is introduce the wine to the clients and convert the tasting to a future purchase. I was expecting so much more from this wine experience but instead I left the area feeling rejected and with no desire to buy anything that would remind me of this wine tasting.
Really beautiful winery with great tour options that allow you to see the whole production process. Unlimited wine tasting with quite a few options.
Much better than we expected. We took the Champagne tour and the wines were amazing. 7 different tastes including a rose. We love sparkling wines and Biltmore did not disappoint. Will definitely make a return visit.
Ask for Dan W.-you will learn so much about wine!
After spending ALL day on Biltmore Estate we decided we would ride over and have a glass or two of wine. It was so relaxing. Ordered a couple of bottles of wine. They corked what we didn’t drink and then drank it when I got back in the room!! We also ordered a cheese board and a cheese and charcuterie board! One of the best I’ve had! Perfect snack to end the evening! Server was great! Will be back.
Bartender didn’t explain the wines or put any effort to make it a good experience. Another couple came and it didn’t even talk to us after. Horrible customer service
Free wine tasting is included with admission to the estate, and was surprisingly good! You get 5-6 samples of your choice from a large menu of Biltmore wines, which are decent and pretty reasonable priced. There is also a big gift shop, a tunnel with history about the winery, and a wine bar where you can drink more if you want to pay for it.
Good wines from estate
Great place for a walk
The selection of wines here is outstanding! Definitely visit for a tasting, but pace yourself. they have a ton of wines. Taking a tour of the cellars is very fun and informative. The staff are very friendly and take time to answer any questions that you have about the wines, how they are made, the history of the place, and more. The gift shop is also great, with a wide variety of items for sale.
Best wine tasting I've been to hands down. You get to select the wines you want to taste instead of the standard white to full bodied red selections on most tastings, which is great for those who only like white or red. David was very knowledgable and made our experience so fun!
Enjoyed the tasting, but shipping wine home wasn't good. Explained to clerk that I needed the wine to be delivered at least a week from when I bought it, and she assured me it wouldn't ship for 7 to 10 business days. Now, just 3 days later, FedEx threatens to send it back, since no one is there to sign for it.
We were very disappointed with the "complimentary tastings" ( for which you need, at minimum, a $ 21.00 ticket). No information about the grapes, growing process, or vintage - just 5 miniscule pours and information on how to join the wine club. The cellar tour is $10 extra, any other wine experience is at least $25.00 extra. For a much better experience, go to Parker-Binns or Burnt Shirt Vineyards in Lake Lure.
Very nice and enjoyable establishment. Great wine, great staff, and very good prices.
My husband and I love to come to the Biltmore Winery to relax, have a glass of wine, enjoy great food and music.
Friendly and fun staff, with generous pours.
Awesome winery. Took our parents their and the bartenders were superb. Really made our weekend.
Really fun place to taste the Biltmore wines and take some home. No pressure to buy, but we found a couple bottles of some nice whites at affordable prices!
Great variety of wines. Samples are FREE. Our host was very knowledgeable and patient. If you ever visit The Biltmore, save a few hours for the winery and village.
The wine was very good and the staff was friendly and quite knowledgeable. We had a great time!
A lot of the appeal of the winery here is the free tasting. Is a lot of what you’re drinking grown on the Estate, or even from the state of North Carolina? No. Is the wine really any good? It’s okay, but there’s certainly better quality wine grown in the foothills of NC. I was even disappointed by how little the employees knew about their own wine, or wine in general. They’re fine if you’re a casual wine connoisseur, but less helpful if you’re more a knowledgeable wine aficionado. That said, it is nice for the buzz, and the winery itself is very nice to be in. There’s a huge gift shop, a free and premium tour, and the area around the winery is nice to walk around.
We did a tasting after touring the house, and I was very impressed! Very knowledgeable sommelier with an Australian (?) accent poured our tasting, and he was wonderful! Ended up leaving with 3 of the 7 wines I tasted, and seriously regret not getting more!
Winery in The Biltmore estate grounds. Free wine tasting. The staff is always friendly and courteous. The wine selection is great. We love this place.
Great winery. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Wines were very diverse and price was more than reasonable. Took home a couple of bottles. Highly recommended!!
Always an excellent visit to any part of the Biltmore Estate. I highly recommend the wines, any of the restaurants & the annual pass.
You have to do the win tasting.
Absolutely amazing in every detail! Thanks to entire Biltmore staff for staging this remarkable exhibit!
The Chardonnay is wonderful.
A great place to both learn about and buy wine. Also sold are gadgets and snacks that accompany wine. Took the wine and chocolate class taught by Peter from Nottingham England. Very interesting how wine and chocolate pairings can make or break the tastes. Also included a short tour and history of the winery. Want to take the wine and cheese class, but it didn't work with our schedule. Maybe next time.
wine tastings.for as long as you like with friendly staff
I'm used to Yadkin Valley wine and wine from parts of Southwest Virginia...and most of those are wonderful, theres so many places to choose from and theres always that one place that is really bad in every region...take the worst winery experience you've ever had and worst wines you've ever tasted and it will still probably be better than this place! The wines all taste like vinegar, even the sweet wines are bitter...ONE of the 7 I tasted was decent. Our taster, David, started pouring wine without telling us what it was and then took off to tend to one of the other 10 or so folks shoved in front of him all at once...came back and told us to pick 5-7 wines and then just started pouring whatever he thought we should taste instead of what we chose to taste, until it was let known we had been to nearly 70 other wineries and he finally started paying attention to the lists and pouring what was marked, but he was suddenly way less friendly and stopped asking opinions when the answer was "it wasn't good...no it wasn't too sweet or dry it was just bitter". The only decent thing about the place is the walk through the underground tunnel to get to it and the information photos and such about the past of the building.
Don't miss this amazing part of the Biltmore estate
Wow what a winery. I have been to over 60 wineries in NC and never had to wait this long to taste wine but it was worth the wait because the staff makes you feel like it's a small winery instead of the very large operation that it actually is. Staff was very personable and spent time explaining each wine and allowed you time to savory the wines. Didn't feel rushed one bit and the prices are great. Every wine was very good too! WOW
Unbelievable place and a fantastic selection of wines for every taste.
the sampling was fun and informative
Linda helped us out with our tasting today. She was not only knowledgeable about all of the wines we asked about, she was also humorous and made our whole experience very enjoyable. She then told us exactly where in the store to find the ones we wanted to purchase. If you have the chance, check out the tasting room and see for yourself how great she is!
The "Behind the scenes" tour was fabulous, included a tasting of four varietals, and was a good bargain. you can follow the tour with a visit to the open wine tasting room. And taste even more delicious North Carolina wines.. TIP: Plan your winery tour for the day following your visit to the estate, purchase it over the telephone, and if you ask, they will include a second day admission pass to the estate for no extra charge.
My husband and I visited Biltmore Estate/winery last month & we were so impressed with the whole experience ! First off we travel often and find at least 1 winery to bring a case home while there , but on most occasions it is a gesture buying their wines , NOT THIS TIME ! The wine selection and quality far beats any we have tried & the price is unbelievable. As many know that wineries usually charge $5-10 to sample 5 wines - Biltmore lets you sample as many as you like ( I literally had to cut myself off ) we just had such a great time and everyone is so friendly and helpful , we spoke to a woman that worked there while walking through the tunnel & she ended up coming over to us later in the winery and helped grab every wine on our list for us - this was such a big help . Just 2 days ago we ordered another case on the 20% off sale & they give FREE SHIPPING as well . We will order once or twice a year - LOVE this place !
It's fun to walk through the tunnel-like passageway reading signs that explain the history of the place and how wine is made, but you don't see any rooms where wine is actually being made.
We visited the Biltmore winery for the first time this weekend. We were both so impressed with the wine tasting and the staff. We enjoyed being able to try different wines and then being able to purchase the ones we liked. The wine store itself is fairly priced. Most bottles of wine averaged only $12 to purchase. You can't beat that price for fresh wine made right there on the Biltmore farm. A great experience and will love to visit here again.
Loved it! The house is magnificent and gardens and conservatory beautiful.
Wine tastings are always informative. Steven was extremely knowledgeable about the wines we tasted. Came home with a good supply!
Great wine and complimentary to your estate ticket.
Even though the wine tasting had a queue of about 50 people, it took less than 10 minutes to be led to one of the many bars in the room. Our server knew quite a bit about the white and red wines of the Biltimore winery. We got to sample 6 different wines - the combined equivalent of a full glass. Just relaxed enough to go through the store afterwards, sampling tasty dips and sauces, and then buying a couple of bottles of wine. I've attached a picture of what you would see every time you tip your glass upwards.
Went with my bridal party to kick off my upcoming wedding. Had a wonderful experience at the house, garden and restaurant but unfortunately our experience during our wine tasting left us all very disappointed. It's unfortunate after a full day of love and fun for the Biltmore, a rude and very unfriendly employee left us all ending the day on a negative note.
Had a great time tasting wine listening to the music. This is a a great place to grad a cold bottle of wine and relax next to the live music. This place is very popular so I would recommend to get here early and find a spot. The staff is very friendly and will recommend a perfect bottle of wine for any occasion. Don't forget to do the wine tasting!
Amazing place. Love all the wine tastings you can do before you decide what to buy. Just a fantastic experience, plus amazing prices for truly premium wines.
Beautiful winery wonderful discount prices.Great experience. Can’t wait to go back.
A place worth the drive to relax and enjoy finely crafted wines. The estate tour is remarkable as well!
First off, I'm not a wine connoisseur, so my expectations may not have been aligned with reality. The winery is part of the Biltmore complex and in order to get to the winery you need to purchase a $75 pass to enter the Biltmore Estate. The rest of the group was targeting the house and gardens, I was looking forward to the winery. To be honest, I was hoping for more at the winery. You walk through a long tunnel with posters explaining the history of the location and very little on the wine making process. There is a wine tasting room where there were 15-20 different wines that you can taste ... but the tasting isn't head-to-head, which makes it hard to recognize the subtle differences. All-in-all, I guess the folks at the George Dickel Distillery spoiled me.
The wines were delicious and affordable. The atmosphere was fun and our bartender Matthew was knowledgable and fun.
A must see for any and all.
Great experience. Most of wines from imported grapes. Nice store, pleasant staff. Carl was perfect.
Always a pleasure going to the winery at Biltmore. Large selection of wine and very helpful staff. Join the Vanderbilt wine club and get free samples.
The most wonderful gardens we've seen. The people that work al over Biltmore are the nicest we met.
Great wine, staff is knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
A great addition to your Biltmore visit. Enjoy the wine tasting along with several restaurants and shops to compliment your visit to the Estate. We found the wine selection to be variable, though many of the non-NC vintages were very nice. Look for the Limited Reserve offerings, especially those from the outside vineyards.
Nice winery, big tasting rooms to accommodate many, many people. Great selection. Complimentary wine tasting is not very limited as you can taste as many as you want to. If you're going to Biltmore, this is a must.
Not really a wine drinker, but I had a great time with my fiancé, and that's what it's all about. We enjoyed a tasting of several wines and then hit the members only area for a glass of Zinfidel.
Staff was nice as well as knowledgeable, and i was very pleasantly surprised to see some beautiful US made glass ware for sale.
Always an amazing place to buy gifts and sample wine!
Beautiful architecture. Lovely things to purchase. Wonderful people available to help when needed.
Enjoyable and well organized.
Loved, loved, loved the winery. Dan was the best. Wish I could go back without paying admission to the estate.
I was thrilled to receive my Biltmore Estates wine shipment today. I found a gem while touring the winery in August. The estate and winery sit on 8,000 acres and was built in 1896 for George Washington Vanderbilt. It's back drop the Blue Ridge Mts. It currently is the largest privately owned property in the country. The tour and tasting experience was informative. The best part was our guide, a former world renowned concert pianist. In order to get on the grounds a full day tour ticket that includes the home is required. Tours only take place after production hours, roughly 4-5 PM. The private tasting tour that's included was unexpected. After the private your welcome to enjoy another tasting with the general population in the larger area. The showroom area is massive and has everything that they probably produce, plus so much more. It's worth the time to browse the food and other wine related items. The staff was exceptional. My recommendation. Biltmore Estates / 2015 Tempranillo limited release. Not a style of wine you can often locate and it's 100% Biltmore grapes @ $22 a bottle. Awesome find! If your looking for an incredible mail order wine deal consider Biltmore Estates this Holiday.
Wine selection was great...
An amazing place! Wines were great! Great shopping and food!
Outstanding experience. Highly recommended
Very good place to sample and/or buy Biltmore branded wines and other nicnacs. Friendly staff and plenty of parking.
Our experience at Biltmore Winery is one of extraordinary service and customer satisfaction. Living just off Brevard Rd across the French Broad, we are only a couple of miles away from the Estate and the warmth and ambiance of experiencing life as it must have been a century ago, except that we now have all the comforts of home, and the technology to go along with it. We take every advantage of what is offered and enjoy every opportunity we are presented. It's like going to the UK without having to leave home.
I am not a connoisseur of wine, but I did enjoy my time in the winery. The host was very friendly and offered numerous suggestions to help me explore new Friday's of wine up. Is very well done and offers many selections for those who and enjoy wine more
Nice experience and good wine tasting.
Fantastic hospitality and knowledgeable staff at the wine tasting as well as in the retail shop. My favorite part was heading over to the wine bar to enjoy a bottle of their incredible sparkling wine!! Take a break after touring the house and come back for an evening of fun! The wine tour sounds super worth it as well — plus the advertised fee was small! We’ll be back!!!
This is a really nice shop. I like that they had many samples of the dips and spreads (for crackers, pretzels, breads, etc...) they were selling so you could try before you buy. Lots of different wine-related gifts & gadgets. I, unfortunately, did not get a chance to try their complementary wine tasting.
Plenty of room for tasting, staff has this part down. I was surprised to hear that only the chardonnay and can franc are from on the estate, all other grapes are brought in from other parts of the country. Also, the cab franc was not part of the tasting package. That seemed weird. All in all, the tasting exceeded my expectations for East coast offerings.
the winery tour was amazing !!! We took the bubbly champagne tour. Led by Sel the guide, full of knowledge and need to know facts about the wine. The history and food pairing that was one of the best tours I've been in.
This review is a month overdue! And it's also a huge shout out to our favorite things there, but also a bigger shout out to an employee at the winery name Richard! My girlfriend and I got annual passes for the Biltmore March of 2018. We fell in love with the estate so we went back multiple times throughout the year to see it at different seasons. Our favorite things to always return to are the winery and the ice cream at Antler Village! If you ever go, you definitely have to get the banana pudding ice cream! Since the Biltmore had become my girlfriend's and I's special place, I decided to propose to her on December 22nd of 2018 by the fountain in Antler Village! Richard was a huge part of the experience (especially after the proposal) and I can't give him enough credit for his hospitality and genuineness! I surprised my now-fiance with having both of our families there hiding in the background while I proposed. Anytime we're all together now and when we are talking about the proposal, Richard always comes up in conversation! Our families appreciate him and the Biltmore so much for that day!!
Most of the employees pouring the tastings are fun and knowledgeable. They give you like 7 samples and it’s free. Check out the champagne bar across from the winery. They also serve other wines there.
Good selection of wine! The staff was very friendly and informative. My friends and family loved the wine I gifted them from the Biltmore.
The wine tasting bar is great, really help to make my choice!
It's a great place to take folks who come into town. Or if you are in the big town of Asheville it's always a good place to wind down for the evening. Laid back, nice shop with plenty of wines to choose from (my favorite is the Century Sweet White) with snacks as well and it is located on my favorite part of the Estate.
Great place, great visit, especially with the snow. Three problems that keep from giving a 5. Purchased valet parking- it was cancelled. Getting out - they run you all around the total facility, needing at least an extra 15 minutes to exit. Getting in - there was 1 person directing folks to where they can park and that valet parking was cancelled. Backed up entry at least a mile, adding over 30 minutes to get to the mansion.
I love this place. There are benefits of being a wine club member. Unpretentious, friendly, and knowledgeable staff always make my visit enjoyable. Very comfortable chairs. Great wine that is only sold on the grounds... Not available at Ingles!
Admission to the Biltmore State includes a wine tasting, so why not! We visited during Christmas week so line for the tasting seemed loooooooooooooong but it moves super quickly so don't be scared by it. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Wonderful place to visit and drink
Cozy place and so very nature centered.
Free wine tasting with a property pass! Staff is awesome and always willing to talk about wines and flavor profiles despite having to do it constantly all day with hundreds of people.
Great place. Jyll was amazing. The wines were great too. This is the best part of the entire Biltmore Establishment.
Awesome experience, lots of history, beautiful gardens, and not to mention good wine. I recommend highly
Visiting the Biltmore house comes with a free wine tasting. Obviously then, the line is long but goes quickly. The wines are better than the usually sweet NC wines and then I Iearned all the wine is made is Napa Valley then shipped over. Interestingly the Merlot was the most intriguing but overall nothing award winning. Prices ran about $15 to $20.
Nice selection of wines! Sure tasting was a very nice and pleasant experience. Charles our bartender was amazing! Liked many he suggested... Good selection of wine related household items
Great place. Best to get there early.
I went to see the Chihuly sculpture exhibit at night and it was stunning. In addition, one of the Guest Services employees, I believe her name was Maddie, went above and beyond to make my visit a special one. I definitely recommend visiting.
Was passing through Asheville at around 3:30pm and it was too late to do the Biltmore tour so we wanted to stop by the Winery and make some purchases to take home. BTW, we do the tour every year for the past 5 years when we visit Tennessee but we were stuck on I-40 due to a bad accident and arrived too late this time around. When i got to the gate encountered a very unfriendly young lady who when I asked if we can go to the Winery said in a very pretentious and uncaring voice "You need a ticket to the house or an annual pass". We certainly did not know this otherwise we would not have bothered going there in the first place. So heads up everyone; You must buy a $70 daytime one use ticket to the house or buy the annual pass that varies between $119-$219 to go to the Winery. I guess they are not interested in selling their wine to anyone unless they get those additional $$$ beforehand. Tip to management: try a little harder to train all of your staff on what customer service is like, especially the ones that have guest interaction. This review is here thanks to that horrible young lady at the gate.
A very gorgeous winery with amazing views and atmosphere
My Baby and I are wine club members and we love their red wines.
Excellet wine tasting and people
We had a very nice server for our wine tasting and it was very fun to try them before purchasing!
I am a passholder at the Biltmore and Wine Club member. I love coming and sampling wine and getting my free glass of wine.
Our third visit to the Biltmore Estate. Just as great. Spent the afternoon at the winery and it didn't disappoint! Helpful and knowledgeable staff.l
Beautiful estate, I love the design of the biltmore and I would go again
Long wait for tasting but good to be able to taste before buying
Relaxing atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, charming local. Always a great place to visit, whether for a wine tasting, or a light snack to eat with you wine.
Super nice staff and decent wines.
I have always expected excellence from Biltmore Estate, and my expectations have always been exceeded.
It's a winery! How can it not get 5 stars
A must see! Hard to believe the architecture and quality of this home.
Great experience at a tasting. Very pleasant staff, good selection.
We love the free tasting and the tour. Join the wine club and enjoy free premium wine or tasting for you and 3 guests.
Must try the chocolate and wine tasting! Very informative and fun!!
Great place.
Frist class.
Not a big wine drinker but this winery had lots to offer.
Free wine tasting with visit. Large selection of wines and they are generous with the number of samples they allow you to have.
Great selection, great staff, and free tastings (many)!
Great wine and service
most intriguing house ..we took the roof top tour and the views were amazing..it's was chilly but amazing all the same..
The wine is ok, the staff was great, on the other hand.
Excellent wine tasting experience, thankyou John for giving two Aussie visitors such an informative and enjoyable wine tasting. We especially loved the Syrah.
Over rated and expensive for what you get.
Wine tasting is included in the Biltmore ticket. We have 2 kids and they were with my husband asleep in the car. So I had little time. The line was kinda long but it moved fast enough. There are at least 3 long tables with lots of staff to help with wine tasting. I agree with another reviewer here: Plenty of room for tasting, staff has this part down. Tasting exceeded my expectations.
We are season members as well as wine club members so we do get some perks. As always this place exudes service and satisfaction. We stopped by and enjoyed a delightful glass of wine (just because we can) and did not visit the home.
Awesome, both the Winery and sparkling wines are great!
The staff was very helpful.
I think everybody should take the wit very tour. Its not expensive and very informative. Now I know the diff between how white and red wine are made. They also show you how champagne is made and how to recognize a good one. The wine tasting at the end of the tour was very educational too.
I don't really drink but it's a cool place to walk through. There are working bathrooms and water fountains down there. Boyfriend had to wait a while for the tasting but he got to try 6. During the tasting you get a fair amount of attention from the employee. I believe that you buy multiple bottles you get a discount. The rest of the store has some fun expensive stuff like wine accessories and then dip mix too.
Very good wine selection and we'll informed staff that was extremely familiar with the Biltmore wines.
The people are amazing, atmosphere is awesome... the wine...meh
Free wine tasting of approximately 21 different special reserved selections from the nearby Biltmore grove and Californian vineyards.
Enjoyed picking out wines for spring. Wonderful selection and great suggestions from the staff.
Great place don't miss it. The Malbec is specisl
We are annual pass holders and come frequently. Our server tonight, Vicki was a great conversationalist as well as a true wine connoisseur! We were impressed and welcomed by her service! She even convinced us to sign up for the wine club at the first of the year! Below is a pick of the new wine bar!!
Best time every thing was as expected good day all around
Exquisite, a sight to see.
See the estate skip the winery. One of the least enjoyable tastings bartenders overwhelmed and unable to describe product. Production line atmosphere. Enjoy!
Really cool place, the tasting rooms are great but the wine bar in the adjacent building is even cooler. Buy a bottle or two, order some cheese and charcuterie and relax. The service was amazing!
Great selection of wines and the atmosphere was great. I met a great Chinese fellow here.
This was fun. Free wine tasting which was roughly 5-7 pours. The bottles of wine are not nearly as expensive as I thought they’d be. They were anywhere from $13 to $25 and pretty good. Ended up purchasing 3 bottles. Definitely worth the visit.
Been to Napa many times. Wines low grade. Service in tasting room bad. Don't waste your time.
The wine was great and so was our bartender. However our experience was ruined by the old lady who was in charge of letting people in a d getting them setup for their tasting. She was very rude to us, expected us to know when we were allowed to move and when we weren't without any instructions. She even went as far as to tell me exactly I had to stand at the bar if we wanted to be served. Not to mention she pulled people out of line that were behind us and let them go first all the while saying she was full and had no room for us.
It was fun doing the complimentary wine tasting.
Wonderful place. If you have the chance don't miss it.
It was amazing. The beer and bourbon tasting including dinner was very educational.
Very helpful, let us sample several varieties of wine. Helped us find something we liked. No sparkling wine on the free sample list, however.
Had an awesome time here with the family
Great friendly staff, with a vast knowledge of Biltmore wines. A wonderful place to share time with family and friends.
The Biltmore Winery was very busy today but had a very nice person get us a sample of the Chardonay Reserve so we didnt have to wait in a big long line. Loved it bought two bottles. I was very thankful for her help.
Excellent.
Love Hauling Biltmore Wine in and out of the estate.
Its a peace of Heaven
We had a wine making tour at the Winery. Tasted wines and brought a few that we really like. The staff were very accommodating and the taste rooms were beautifully designed and very welcoming!
If you like wine you won't want to miss visiting the Biltmore Winery. You will get to taste the wines and meet people from all over the world. My favorite is Johannisburgh Riesling...a delicate slightly sweet wine. The red wines are hardy and robust that are wonderful for drinking or cooking. But it isn't just the wine tasting, the staff at the castle are just so nice. You can't help but have a wonderful experience!
Enjoyed the main estate house. Beautiful but would rather have a cabin in the mountains
Excellent and very knowledgeable employees that seem to love what they do!!
Very helpful staff. Nice clean facilities. Priced right for wine. Lots is samples to try.
My Husband and I had a great time here. The staff was professional and entertaining. Not to mention, it was free since we were staying at the village hotel. The tasting afterwards was great. We ended up buying several bottles of wine and thoroughly enjoyed all of them.
