Amazing experience! Loved the food and wine. Enjoyed my conversation at the bar with Justine. She’s great!
This was a very nice place. Went out of their way to make room for us and then helpful I finding us drinks and suggesting food. Friendly place and a great local hang out it seems. Prices are within the expectation of the area.
This is a great spot to meet 2-3 people for a glass of wine at happy hour, or a cozy date. Happy hour deals are great, and there's a huge variety of wines to try at any time. The bartenders really know their stuff -- so if you don't know what to try, they'll be able to recommend something perfect for you!
Good ambience even when crowded, good wine list
Great down-to-earth wine bar with phenomenal selections and a well-trained staff. Came for the dry Riesling and wasn't disappointed a bit. However, wines can get pricey, but understandably so.
The staff were lovely and they knew their stuff.
Nice and cosy wine bar, with a great wine list. Friendly staff who will help you find the perfect wine. We went there during happy hour and let me tell you, we really enjoyed it. Great vibe, great food, especially the oysters!!!
Great wine, great food and great staff
What's not to love. Best wine bar in NYC. Hands down. Wine list is exceptional. Every wine on the list is picked with care, none will disappoint. And the staff is knowledgeable and helpful pointing you in the right direction. Food is good, not great, mostly light pairing fare. Expensive but worth it for exceptional wine in a quirky ambience that isn't haughty or condescending. Love it.
Good wine list. Good for snacks after work. Nice for groups. It can get crowded later in the evening.
The staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. I visited during the Summer of Riesling, and the waiter perfectly paired one Riesling with my meal and another Riesling with my date's meal. As a former wine pairing skeptic, it was a great experience!
Fun place, good service
Good after work drinks
Outstanding wine selection, super addicting food, great staff. If you need to book a party or wine tasting - you've found your spot!
Did a fantastic wine tasting here
Impressive but fun menu - great spot for a drink after work. They LOVE reisling here. Also the staff know the menu very well so always ask for recommendations based on the mood or taste and they won't disappoint! Will be going back soon
Great wine bar with friendly staff that are with you on your journey to learn about wine. The by the glass selection is truly a great experience for someone new to wine and wanting to figure out what they like.
Warm, knowledgeable, and engaging staff, wide variety of wines by the glass/ bottle, and expertly curated small plates make for the perfect wine bar experience. This place is a gem.
Cool Place to visit.
Met a friend for drinks after work at Terroir. Loved the atmosphere, staff who were attentive both not intrusive, and the wine selection. Will definitely add this place to my list of cool spots.
Sister of East Village wine bar, this place has more room, but the same great food and interesting wine selections. I find myself here weekly, and never tire of the choices.
Overwhelming wine list paired with extremely helpful servers! Have a glass of Riesling with the Crispy Duck Confit salad and a plate of cheese.
Often meet up here with other attorneys. Excellent atmosphere and great pours.
Nice happy hours . Yay Sherry.
GO HERE! That is, if you want to have: delicious wine, mind-blowing wine, mind-opening wine, or funky I-didn't-know-wine-could-taste-like-meat, wine. You want a glass of yummy? Terroir has it! The best part of terroir are the servers because they are tremendously knowledgable, do so much, and can choose something scrumptious specifically for YOU! Regarding food, they have tasty snacks like the grilled chickpeas but I recommend eating a heartier meal before. Enjoy the watering hole that is terroir and go on, try a damn riesling.
Un petit bar à vin proposant des dégustations en autonomie. Quelques bonnes petites bouchées pour accompagner (très bon fromage bleu californien).
Horrible noisy place. It's impossible to relax & enjoy food & a glass of wine in a small room of hard surfaces full of people yelling their heads off. I'm not talking about a crowded bar just after close of business on a Friday, but an ordinary Tuesday night after 8, with only half the tables taken & no reason at all for it not to be cosy & quiet. The fault may well lie with New Yorkers & not with the proprietors, but nevertheless a vile experience. My ears buzzed for 20 minutes after leaving. The food was OK: lamb meatballs & the pear salad were good, but the haloumi spoiled by being treated as a french fry, destroying the wholesome flavour you expect from a good grilled or seared halloumi. Ick.
One of best wine bars I tried in the city so far. Great list, great meat options as well (this Copa was beautiful). Quality is really high. Waiters very knowledgeable / helpful / friendly. Good vibe. I'll be back for sure.
Excellent selection of wines with an inclination for Rieslings and a menu that serves as a primer on each of the wines it offers. Written in quirky language and with an inclination for comedic effect, you'll spend plenty of time reading the menu long after you order. The space has the energy of a traditional bar during important games more than a wine bar, but overall it is a great place to unwind and enjoy the crowd.
Very nice bar with great ambient. They have a projector to show sports events. Staffer is friendly, manager is very welcoming and friendly.
Love this place. Come here every time I’m in NYC. Wine selection is second to none, charcuterie selection is excellent. Great service.
Try the Riesling!! Seriously! Paul & the whole staff know what they're doing & the write-ups in the wine menu are fantastic! Don't miss the steak tartare, bone marrow & mushrooms -- amazing dishes that go perfectly with so much of the wine list.
$80 bill for the happy hour? okay. when me and my friend walked in some guy just showed us a table where to sit. then no one ever brought the menu so we grabbed that from the table next to us. the menu looks a little confusing cause it has 50-100 pages. when this girl server came over without smile and I don’t remember if she even said hello, I asked her (three times, because she couldn’t get it) what’s your happy hour today, she said “what do you mean?”. it’s fine, I have a patience and asked her again if they have any wine or happy hour drinks, then she pointed to that huge menu and said “yes here”. okay, I figured that, even though it took me forever. I ordered a happy hour wine ($15), my friend asked for the margarita and our server said that they don’t have a margarita (are you guys really don’t carry tequila and some lime juice?). it’s fine we were nice to her all the time. my wine tastes funny, but I didn’t really say anything because it was enough of those awkward conversations. we ordered 24 happy hour assorted oysters ($1.25 each). oysters were fine and the guy who brought was the only nice person there so far. when she brought a bill it was $80 for a glass of wine, martini and those oysters. for 8 oysters they changed us full price $25, and when we asked why, she said because those type of oysters not on the happy hour. I said that we ordered just happy hour oysters and she said sorry about that. that’s it. we still paid that bill. I spent my money yesterday just like that, for nothing. I never leave any reviews but it was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Will never come back and I’ll make sure the people I know too.
Nice bar and staff. Definitely went out of their way to make sure you got what you wanted. Good selection.... huge selection. Only downside was the wings. Overall fantastic experience.

Great unpretentious wine bar. Staff will help you navigate the eclectic wine menu. Laid back and fun.
Cool decor & wine selection. Friendly staff.
The customer service was awful. Pink headed waitress lacked basic customer service skills. If you plan to visit this place (which I highly do not recommend) don’t even bother to ask her any questions. Food and drinks were fine, but the customer service experience ruined a possible positive impression about the place.
Delicious wine, really friendly and knowledgable staff! :)
good selection, there are many options, but i think there could be better range. whoever curated the wine list definitely likes tannins, which is great, but would like to see a wider selection of smoother reds.
Best wine bar in NYC, no contest.
Riesling week and a flight of 3 for $22 along with yummy food and very cool music. Loved it.
Las personas que atiende saben de lo que hablan y esto se agradece.
Neighbor stalwart that's still thriving
Amazing food and amazing wine
Cute wine bar, with detailed and expansive list. Wait staff is very knowledgable and helpful. Great for dates.

Incredible wine selection, knowledgeable staff, and yummy nibbles!
Amazing wine selection by the glass and bottle. staff knows their stuff and happy to experiment to find the wine that will make you go wow
Posh and overpriced vinebar.
Great scenery, great wine and side dishes, nice atmosphere..
Loved it!!! Zoey was extremely knowledgeable and friendly
Allez boire une belle bouteille entre amis dans ce lieu chaleureux au service agréable
I really enjoyed this place, nice cheese plates and a solid wine list.
I want to live across the street from this place.
Nice atmosphere ..great staff ...amazing cheese
Fun selection of wine and libations from all over, available by the glass. Informal atmosphere.
Really fun bar with a lot of wine options. I loved their decoration and the book they made about why people need to have a glass of Riesling. Really friendly staff too. Only regret is the food options that we weren't crazy about. Could do better for a wine place.
Very diverse assortment of wines, knowledgeable staff and tasty nibbles!
Wines served with a side of an education. Informative menu can lead to analysis paralysis, but fear not, attentive servers can steer you in the right direction.
Cool quirky wine bar. Great selection of high-end wines, but lacking in interesting options in the $100-200 range. Food is tasty but limited.
Nice and cozy place

A great place to go in Chelsea if you don't want to go to a "Chelsea" style place. Big menu.
The BEST wine bar we went to NYC. The sommelier Zoey was the most knowledgeable, funny, charming, charismatic I’d ever met, everything she suggested was perfect and her service style was amazing. As a group we were so impressed with the bar, the wines by the glass was insane and the service. Highly recommend to anyone, tourist or local and someone, promote ZOEY!!!
What a perfect place. The wine selection is unmatched in both value and enlightenment. The oysters are beautiful and their in-house made sauces perfectly accent them. I wish we could also figure out the secret to the popcorn. You can't land in a better place than Terrior!
This place is amazing. The staff is really knowledgeable, accommodating, and the opposite of pretentious. I couldn’t decide on what I wanted so our server brought out 3 or 4 different wines for me to try. Also their pours are very healthy. If you are of a certain age ( >40 but < 60) you will appreciate the amazing selection of 80’s alternative music (Echo and the Bunnymen, Depeche Mode, The Smith’s) all curated by the owner who is a really cool and super knowledgeable about wine and music.
Loved our evening at Terroir. The wine and food were delicious, and we had some Madeira to finish it all off. Paul is a mensch! Looking forward to our next visit.
Great and very extensive wine list with helpful staff. Louder and younger crowd than I remember from a few years ago, but I might just be getting old.
Great small dishes and very good wine selection. Fun place to eat.
Amazing wine selection, knowledgeable and caring stuff. We came there for happy hour and stayed the whole night. The wine recommendations were flawless.
Amazing food, wine, choices and service. Most intellectually stimulating menu ever!
Solid wine bar with interesting selections and solid food.
Serious selection of wine and knowledgeable waiters, in a fun and casual setting. Food is solid too.
Great vibe. Perfect place to gather friends and chill with some great wine and small plates
Great funny wine list.
Staff is very good but I find it overpriced
From the second the waitress approached us I knew this place was a gem. Best wine in NYC hands down and extremely knowledgeable staff. The food was really good as well (deviled eggs, oysters, beef tartare to name a few).
Here's a place so poorly conceived and run that it can almost be admired for having opened at all. It's incredibly loud even when less than full, which might be forgivable if there was some high-design at work in the architecture, but—alas—the æsthetic is entirely forgettable. The menu (bound in a clunky three-ring binder) is so cluttered and poorly arranged that it's almost impossible to get through the whole thing, and that's particularly problematic since the food is split-up, half at the beginning and half at the end (for no evident reason), with the wines, beers, cocktails, and—no kidding—various angry manifestos in the middle. The wine selection is mediocre (and underwhelming given the name of the place); the beer selection is only a little better. But the crowning failure of Terroir is the service, which is so slow and unresponsive, it might as well not exist. Advice to those who like to hit every venue in town at least once (and we salute you!): Make sure you approach Terroir with much time, patience, and—most importantly—willingness to laugh.
Good variety of wines by the glass, good place to go for conversation or a small bite.
Large selection of wines with helpful knowledgeable staff to guide you
Meet Sara from bumb here.
The wine list was exceptional, so full of interesting choices, none of which disappointed. We took a fair swing at their food too, trying everything from their lamb sausage to their orange-glazed chicken wings, to the hearty selection of breads, butters, cheeses, and meats. As a visiting wine professional from Seattle I was in heaven. Their food and wine menus alone would be enough to win them Fine Wine's 2015 World's Best Wine Bar award, but the best part of my experience there had to have been Paul and Sabrina. They were knowledgeable about the wine they poured and friendly without being over-bearing. I asked them to put together some flights for my date and I and the wines were just perfect. So if you do not like wine, you must go for their staff will change your mind. If you do like wine, you must go to what I assume will be 2016's best Wine Bar in the world. And if you love wine, then you need to make a pilgrimage. Terroir is truly the holy land.
Face-saving disclaimer: I don't know that much about wines. But this little local chain definitely helped me understand a little more with their "Summer of Riesling" series that they do every year. They have great deals during their Happy Hour glass-to-glass, but I'm not sure I would come here otherwise. The staff working there doesn't seem the most knowledgeable since they all seemed very young (too young to have the taste bud history required for an expert), but definitely friendly. Edibles there are definitely overpriced. What else can I say? After visits to two of their branches, Terroir is still not that memorable to me (and I definitely didn't have enough wine to merit the forgetfulness).
My wife and four friends stumbled upon this restaurant while in the area. It had good reviews on Yelp and they took our large group in with no issues or reservations. We sat on a high, long table and each ordered different things. My wife, one friend, and I split a cheese plate and meats. We asked the server to surprise us and he brought us out an amazing (and diverse) selection of cheeses and meats (Including boar meat!). My Delaware friend ordered their meat ball sandwich and said it was the best sandwich she had in her life. By the looks of the sandwich, it was hard to believe, but when my Delaware friend says she loves something, it is objectively the best! They also have an expensive beer, wine, and CIDER list. If you're in the area, stop by Terroir Tribeca!
Love this place. They know there wine.
Fun wine bar with super knowledge staff
One day, people will understand the greatness of the work done by Paul Grieco and everyone behind Terroir. Far beyond a wine bar, Terroir is a contagious philosophy, morphing together glory and taste of wine. Want to have fun in NYC? Come here
Great wine happy hour. Had a nice 3 cheese plate which the waitress kindly allowed us to choose the types of cheese we were going for; she also have great recommendations. Cozy seating.
Great wine list, great food. Cool atmosphere.
Just about the best wine bar in the city. Attractive, classy, comfortable space in one of the city's most posh districts, befitting of the beverage being poured. But the formality ends there. As a matter of fact, you might as well be hanging out in your partially psychotic friend's apartment. Deliciously iconoclast, witty t-shirts, ridiculous menu descriptions, over abundance of puns, obscure cultural references, and all. The only reverence for anything in this shop is the grape juice in the glass, and Terroir isn't messing around. Because guess what? The wine is YUMMY You might want to stick around for a few rounds.
Amazing service and the GM will make your visit great. Fantastic selection and amazing food
Quirky, fun and excellent selection of wine
Fantastic wines, cheese, charcuterie, and expertise
Super knowledgeable team. I got a lot out of this visit.
Went there for a private event. The service was very good, atmosphere was nice. No complaints really, except the rustic decor is kind of annoying. Don't try to make a place something it's not in order to be all trendy, and this place is otherwise not rustic.
Excellent venue and terrific service.
We had a company party. The service was very slow, the food was ok, atmosphere is cool, probably there is significant wait time after 7pm
The greatest wine bar owned by the greatest Somm. What more can one say? Killer Riesling program but by no means limited to that. Vertical of Bartolo Mascarelo Barolo. Tons of Burg. Delicious, kicked up food. And if Paul Grieco is in you have a chance to visit with a somm legend. Go!
One of my favorite locations. Tom was super friendly, and I appreciated the great service and conversation. As part of the industry myself, I know how difficult it is to maintain the balance of good service and good hospitality and their staff does an excellent job. Wine list is great, and the menu is a hoot to read. Great spot for conversation. You can relax and unwind here with no worries.
Me tally hogayi yaar, naam tera padh ..
The service, wine, and food were decent. It's a cute after work spot if you are close by. In my opinion it's a little cramped and not a particularly great dating atmosphere.
Just what you want from an actual bar that serves wine and not just another restaurant calling itself a wine bar: go sit at the bar, enjoy the snacks and dig into the broad and very well represented wine list with entries from pretty much all over. Organic, bio, macerated or conventional? You got it. Knowledgeable staff and good, oldschool bar atmosphere.
I've loved this place for a long time. As a huge fan of Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, etc. you'll be hard pressed to find such a wine list anywhere else in NYC. The ambience is low key but the staff super knowledgeable. Just wish that the recent changeover of food menus hadn't happened. The old menu was so much more appealing! It still serves small plates, but the go-tos that seemed to be loved by all are no longer on the menu.
huge wine selection but really expensive for what you get
Love this little wine bar! Have been with a few groups of girlfriends and we always have a great time. Extensive wine selection with small bites on the menu (tasty food). Servers are very knowledgeable and can suggest various wines based on what you’re looking for. Would highly recommend for happy hour!
The best wine bar on the planet. A great selection of juice, knowledgeable staff, and tremendous food at a reasonable price.
Warm, knowledgeable, and engaging staff, wide variety of wines by the glass/ bottle, and expertly curated small plates make for the perfect wine bar experience. This place is a gem.
Amazing selections of wines and yummie foods.
Best wine bar in the city!
Love this wine bar! Amazing selection!!
My new home away from home.
Amazing wine list. A must visit
Nice vegan options
Kind of a crazy, eccentric, funny wine menu. Clearly Riesling is this bars wine style - it was Riesling everything. Wine list was lacking in my opinion in all other aspects.
Amazing choice of wine and local beer and cider
I went when it first opened, and then back again a few months later. Same people as Hearth. It's good, not great. The wine list used to be in a ring binder - weird. I don't love the atmosphere.
An overwhelmingly large selection on wines by the glass and a wonderful staff that will help you sort through it.
Atmosphere is nice - exposed brick and small enough to feel cozy. The wine didn't thrill me - I tried a reisling and a merlot, but the food was better than I suspected. Enjoyed a cheese plate, bruchesetta, a fritta, and a small salad. This is a great place to duck into for a quick bite with a friend. I did think the drinks were a bit overpriced/not impressive, but perhaps I just struck out.
Very helpful staff. Great drinks.
Probably the best wine bar I have ever been to. The wine itself was fantastic (they got me to truly enjoy a Malbec!) but beyond the delicious, extensive and one of a kind selection, the service is what really steals the show. Paul and his crew gave us a night and experience to remember! They master the art of understanding the customer and matching them to their dream wine. I will be back every single time I am in NYC. Count on it!
It's rare to come across an establishment that loves Riesling as much as I do. Great staff, epic wine list and a lovely vibe.
Really fun experience. It was packed when we went, but we were able to find spots a the bar, and the staff was super helpful and helped us make wine and cheese selections. We were worried it would be too expensive, but when we got the bill it was reasonable considering the service and experience. Each of our glasses were $14 and $18, respectively
Definitely go with a party, and do the wine tasting. There is a great variety.
The sommelier behind the bar is hysterical and very patient in helping you get that glass of wine you'll
Excellent service, yummy food and just simply silly wine binder! Great happy hour too from 4-7 then 11 on!
Pretty disappointed tbh. The wine was average at best and the fried nibbles were average. Average, average, average
