Really helpful staff and a pretty decent selection of wines/liquors. If you need kosher wines, they've definitely got a good selection of those -- but their prices are a bit higher than you'd pay in other neighborhoods.

I was searching and searching because selection is so bad and so badly organized, when a man rudely told me they closed “in 1 minute” it was 840 and they close at 9, I asked if they needed my business and they said they didn’t care. The prices are high, the selection is terrible, and this is how they act? Either they don’t need customers or they will be gone soon

They have a better selection than the other places I looked, and the guy I talked to on the phone not only was able to talk with me about a fairly obscure liqueur, he also put a few bottles aside for me do I could pick them up later, without being asked.

Checked the web site before heading over. When i arrived vthe store looked half empty. When i asked about kosher champagne the people that worked there had no knowledge and could care less. The one guy that had "some knowledge" really had none. When i asked him about all of the champagne listed on the web site he responded by saying...not me. I did not put stuff on the web site. The rest of the staff could care less about their jobs. I simply walked out. I used to shop there regularly. No more. Shocking since they used to be a go to store. I guess the half empty shelves should tell you something.. follow up........ lack of inventory does not impact service and attitude. ...just saying

This is the neighborhood store for a lot of the locals. Prices are really competitive to stores around the area. staffs are friendly and managers knows their wines. easy to deal with, what's more to ask for?

Costas, the store manager, just hung up the phone on me. Have been shopping there for years, & spend a lot of money reordering each month. When i called to tell Costas i was unhappy about calling last wk to place another order, & being advised by the sales person that he would call me back that they were very busy, yet didn't, he spent 10 minutes in defense how busy everyone was & what a small store they were. I responded that he might simply apologize & offer how he could help me. With that, he hung up the phone on me.

They have a well curated diverse selection of wines. They are similarly stocked in liquor. My test for a quality liquor store is the variety ant types of vermouth and amari stocked. These guys are solid. So if you're a cocktail type, they got you covered pretty well. If you're a wine connoisseur they'll have something of interest and be able to tell you about. If you want to buy a $11 bottle of wine to bring to a party, they got you too.

I don't have much good things to say about Gotham Wines. I was originally excited to move to the neighborhood and make them my local wine shop. I do buy wine often and it is a passion. But their service is just horrible and they are rude. I felt that way for a while. Then I I bought a corked bottle of Spanish rioja for ~$22 from them and they refused to take it back. I stopped using them and they literally lost hundreds of dollars over time from me. Really bad business decision and just awful customer service. The selection is just ok there. There are so many other solid options in the neighborhood. Reading the rest of the reviews for them, it looks like my experience is not unique at all.

Although the supply of wine and liquor was expansive and all moderate sized. The customer service was horrendous, specifically the cashiers. I was given the most abhorrent attitude, one was even on her phone. I went to another nearby Liquor store where they had arround the same amount of liquor and different sizes. I believe they're called "Western's"?

This is a great wine and liquor store, and a two for one value! First, there is the owner Charlie. Then there is Costas the manager. You will not find more knowledgeable people in the industry. They give great service. Back that up with the fact that you will not find better pricing and you have a complete, total, mature business doing a great job at very reasonable prices. Like I said, a two for one value.

I've had surprising difficulty finding a good wine store on the UWS. This one seems to be better than most. Their staff is helpful and they have a reasonably good selection. I'd probably rate it a 3.5.

Kind, helpful staff. There are wines from Switzerland here ! And a whole section of quality kosher wines, including a zinfandel. Huge selection of wines in a tight space. A very fun place.

The older lady who works there understood I was working on a budget and helped me find two great wines that went with the dish I was preparing. She gave me options in a range I could afford, explained the differences, and was absolutely charming. The prices were quite reasonable and the line moved quickly.

I would give zero stars if I could. I ordered online on Saturday and Tuesday, after hearing nothing, I reached out to them after they my card was charged and I still had not received my delivery. "Oh you are scheduled for tomorrow!" FIVE DAYS LATER. This is BS, no phone calls, no notifications, nothing. I'm less than 10 blocks away from them. Unacceptable. There are plenty of other shops in the neighborhood that provide better service. Avoid!!

I've been coming to this place because it's across from my house if there was another place closer I would go there versus here. First the women behind the counter act like your bothering them when you go to pay. I always smile and say hello and never get a response, they also speak in spanish very inappropriate things with the guys that work there like I don't understand. I'm an avid wine drinker and love going to a place where I can feel comfortable reading the different wines but I feel like I'm in Washington highs not a cool atmosphere and horible customer sevice... will start walking to the one on 88th st.
