REVIEWS OF Casa Rondeña Winery IN New Mexico

Jill Gatwood

Beautiful place to take visitors from out of town for a glass of wine and to enjoy the grounds.

Suz H

Can't wait to go back! Beautiful venue, delicious wine, and a great caring staff. Top contender for my next event.

Tricia Wilson

Casa Rondena is a small winery, but has beautiful buildings, scenery and vineyards. We had a very delightful tour, with tastings of five wines in different buildings. We ended in the clubhouse for their wine club members - a relaxing, warm setting for excellent food and wine. Our tour guide was knowledgeable, funny, and welcoming. It is a great setting for a wedding or special event.

Tanya Law

The tour was great and the wines are very good. Great place to escape the city in the city

Anna Sidz

The most beautiful winery in NM! The winery tours are great for learning about the history of this place and wine making, and include a wine tasting.

Bob Warmuth

It was a great experience for the bar tender or wine tender told you about each wine you were drinking and sweet or not.what it went with or even chocolate how to drink it. I had a great time. thanks

Blaire Marcello

My husband and Iove Casa Rodena Winery! Not only is the ambiance beautiful but what makes it most special is the staff. We had not been to the winery for six months and when we returned we were greeted with warm welcome & it was nice to be remembered and pick up where left off. Love the music they play! There were also two new people working that day who I had never met before & they were so personable and fun! I even searched for Heather on Facebook because I really wanted to be her friend lol! (Creep I know) She really helped make our experience there more enjoyable and special than it already was. She is so sweet and smart and I learned a lot just by being in her presence for a couple hours!

Chris pease

Awesome little place hidden away in the middle of the city.

Man of Enchantment

Great wine!

Debbie Arp

Beautiful winery with fantastic wines. They have a wide variety of wines at a very affordable price. There are 7 wines tasted during the wine tasting. You can sit outside or inside and it is so gorgeous and relaxing. Very large vineyard with mission type structures. They host events with just a fantastic backdrop. If you are a resident of the area I would definitely look at the 1629 club. Plan on returning every time we come to New Mexico. Staff is fun and very well informed.

manuel ramos

Amazing place looks really nice good wines

Robin Faucher-Osborne

Beautiful winery. They had advertised for a tour, which was cancelled due to a pick up party. We'd go back, but not on a weekend.

Penny DeRose

You have our 100 percent support.

Joe Wade

The staff was very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable about their wines.

Christina Postle

Even though I really enjoyed the wine and the view but unfortunately after 3 tastings, buying 3 glasses of wine as well as a bottle and then wanting to bring home 2 additional bottles back home to California the server wasn't willing to refund the tasting fees that had been purchased prior to the decision. Maybe things are different in New Mexico but one would think it would only be polite or fair to refund the tasting fees even if they were already paid for. People change their minds and it ruined the pleasant experience.

Gina Swift

The best wine and atmosphere in the state!

jezreel bassett

A wonderful wedding venue! The wine is delicious and the space is gorgeous.

carl cerco

Heather is top notch. Go on Thursday for surely! She was packed today and computers failed but still gave every person a greeting.

Harley David

What a very lovely special place. The owners and employees are very friendly and welcoming to everyone! Will definitely be back and highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful wonderful evening.

Let me start by saying I wanted to love Casa Rondena so much! It's a beautiful place and has nice wine. Unfortunately they have the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced - from the ownership down. I moved here from Boston a year ago and immediately joined the 1629 club at Casa Rondena, hoping to have a great place to bring out of town guests and meet new friends in my new town. Unfortunately, right from the start, being a member at Casa Rondena was nothing but stress and frustration. In my second month of membership, I brought my family there to relax over some wine on the 1639 club patio. There was another table of 3 men on the patio and one of them got up and yelled at me that I didn't belong there. I offered him my club membership card and he very rudely told me I had to leave. It turns out that was the owner, John. Now is that how anyone would treat any customer, especially someone who pays a monthly membership to be part of your club? I did receive an "apology" email a few days later, so I decided to give the place another chance. My final straw was bringing my mom to the club for her birthday dinner a couple weeks ago, which was also the same night as a St Patrick's Day event. The doorman for the event was extremely rude and accused me of sneaking in and told me I couldn't leave the event to have dinner in their club. I explained that I had emailed ahead of time to make sure this was possible and he told me "go ahead, you'll just do what you want anyways". When we finally ordered dinner it took forever to get our food, the pizzas were good, but very small. We told our server we would want to order more, but when we tried to order more they told us that there was another large party there and they couldn't handle it so we wouldn't be getting served anymore. My father tried to talk to them to see what he could do and our server yelled at him that we should have seen that they don't take orders after 7:45pm. No one had told us this, and for the record, the menu says 7:50, and it wasn't that time yet. I called and emailed Casa Rondena telling them about my most recent poor experience there. I let them know that I wanted to cancel my membership due to all of the continued problems, but wanted to give them the opportunity to respond first and work out a resolution. Its been 10 days and I still haven't heard from them. Members and Customers clearly aren't valued here at all. I really wanted to love this place, and I can't communicate how fully disappointed I am. They obviously don't care about basic customer service, and the culture of the employees there is that nothing will change and management doesn't care. I don't plan on ever going back there again. There are plenty of other wineries in New Mexico and plenty of other places that provide exceptional service. Don't waste your money here, and definitely don't become a member at Casa Rondena - this place and its horrible business practices needs a complete overhaul. I will be cross-posting this review on multiple sites.

We visited Albuquerque this past weekend (Aug. 18-19) and had this place on our short list of places we'd wanted to check out. SO GLAD we made it. Though there was at the time a large very formal wedding going on (and so no tours), we were welcomed warmly despite their accommodation of the crowd, invited into an intimate bar area and enjoyed a tasting of six of their wines ($10/person, but the fee is waved if you purchase a bottle!) and some great conversation. WHAT A FIND! If you're in town and you love great wine, then this is one place you should make a point to visit!

Sharon Sears

Awesome place and good hearts!

Jim Bogle

Very nice place. Great wine. Good service. Im not really sure about the membership option. I have never seen that in any winery in any state we have visited.

Michael Taylor

Amazing ambiance, outstanding food, and over-the-top service (thank you, Ansel, in the club)! We always have an excellent experience here, which is why we chose to come here for our anniverary.

Jason Williams

Kudos to you for hosting the Presidential fundraiser. I do not drink nor have I ever tasted your product, but I will support you in any way that I can.

E. W.

Good thing that their wines are delicious. The surroundings are nice, but the atmosphere is bland. No pairings, no treats, no warm welcomings. Only just cozy fire. Very disappointing for my first visit to a winery. Should have waited to go to the real ones in Napa.

david smith

great place, great wine, great food, great folks

Aubree Duncan

Casa Rodena was a wonderful experience The tasting fee is not too expensive, the wine is all very good. I especially loved the rose.

Leah Tatom

Super friendly and helpful staff! LOVE the wine and the beautiful grounds

Michael Schlichte

My wife and I have been coming to Casa Rondena for the last ten years. We are in love with the grounds and absolutely love the wine! The shining River is perfect on a warm day, and the Cab Franc is a new front runner for our all time favorite! Jesse and his team in the tasting room are always nice and seem to help folks have a bit of fun while tasting the wine. Josh, the new wine maker, is truly passionate about wine and this year that passion has shown itself in a great finished product! have attended a few Wellness and Wine events and they are always great, especially at night with a fire going! All of our out of town friends are required to spend some time here!

Jennifer Quevedo

Best winery in New Mexico so flavorful!!! NM small business done right

Kristi H

Wonderful wine selections and great staff!

David Misconish

My wife and I were new members until today. We just left the vineyard where we were 'served' by Jesse - the tasting room manager. We have never been treated so rudely by a retail establishment. It's mind blowing that this is how the winery treats their 'members'. While the winery setting is lovely, it doesn't really matter when the 'service' is this unprofessional, disrespectful and abusive. We are cancelling our membership immediately. So disappointed in this winery!

Willie Nelson

What a wonderful place to meet with friends! It is a beautiful setting. Family owned. Wines to rival the best of them! I love several of the reds but if you want to try some remarkable whites, not the buttery taste you would get from storage in oak barrels (And there is nothing wrong with oak barrels!) but truly a fresh crisp flavor...go see for yourself.

N Suvor

Fantastic. Inexpensive wine tasting. Beautiful property.

Leesa Trapp

We found the cats in s we actually liked. Great surprise!

John Roberts

We are former wine club members and we like Casa Rondena and their wines. We just purchases some more of their wines and it seems like their prices have increased. Still some good wines though.

Carl Swoyer

I put Casa Rondena on my RV trip based on my 08 and 09 experience. The atmosphere was no longer incredible, the wine was avg and bitter. The property appears to be run down and dirty. The koi pond was dark green. Tables dirty. Embarrassed to say I've been sending people here for the experience that I had in 08/09. To all of you I apologise for my blind reccomdation.

Ashley V

While the staff is knowledgeable and very welcoming, the owner offended us deeply on multiple occasions and left us feeling betrayed. We were members of their clarion wine club, which was the lowest tier membership, for four years or so and brought guests often. The owner sent an extremely offensive email detailing that the clarion club would be deleted and basically accusing us of stealing from him for being a member of the club that he created. The owner had made weirdly off-putting comments to us multiple times but we sorta laughed it off. He also introduced himself to us on 5 different occasions showing that he had no idea who we were even after having lengthy conversations. We are done with casa Rondena. Sad because we do love it but I will not support this man and we have a few friends that were members that feel the same way

Kiera S

I cannot get enough of this place! My eldest had her wedding here a few years ago and it was worth every penny. The wedding coordinator was very attentive to all of us and made us feel welcomes every step of the way. I am sure I will be back here again for another wedding but hopefully not for 20 more years =).

Patrick Brenner

John Calvin is a gentleman and a scholar. I was humbled to be his guest one evening. The property is beautiful: truly a work of art in itself. Many great wines and many different tasting opportunities. He is a philanthropist and I could not recommend this venue more highly. I look forward to many more evenings here.

Cornelia Schloss

This is a wonderful winery in a beautiful setting. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice gift shop and delicious wine

Billy Sapp

Absolutely my favorite place to sit and sip on some fantastic wine and soak in the atmosphere. I even joined the 1629 club. Absolutely my new favorite pizza place. Try the "Bee Sting" pizza when you go. The staff is always attentive and Ansel always makes it a memorable experience. It's a place where I always try to take our out of town guest to "show off" a great place in Albuquerque.

Bob Bushwood

My wife and I were previously members and we were thinking about rejoining but we came to this years harvest party, invited by our friends that are members who have since cancelled, and the owner John was absolutely unapologetically terrible to my wife. He made her cry and didn’t bat an eyelash. Everyone we spoke to that day had similar experiences. The staff is very nice at this place and I do love it but I cannot support John Calvin and his misogyny.

Amanda Rathgeber

A nice quiet place to wind down and enjoy a glass of wine. The gentleman doing the wine testing is fantastic!

Sydney Fox

Yoga might have not worked tonight but Derek from the kitchen is awesome and I always love the bartenders so thank you!!

Mary R Garcia

A nice property within the city but feels like you're away. Great selection to try and seasonal wines are introduced as available. Samples of pretzels are the only food there unless you want to but refrigerated cheese, so don't come on an empty stomach. Great patio overlooking a pond and vineyards. Super place to relax with friends.

Mara Palumbo

Lovely winery and the wines were delicious. The gift shop has interesting items made from the wine. The grounds were beautiful and while we were there, people were checking it out as a wedding venue. Definitely worth a stop.

Juliann Ulibarri

We went to a wedding here last week the venue was beautiful. But the customer service sucked the owners/wedding planners were not very coordinated. After numerous meetings with them plans and their ideas of what was the grooms and brides vision was always changing. For the money you pay one should receive exactly what was settled on, on the first meet. 1) during rehearsal and some set up, they allowed the public to occupy the space which gave no privacy and no room to set decorations up for the wedding. 2) Before the wedding total strangers were escorted around the area where food, and wedding parties were to be getting ready so they can sell the memberships (very disrespectful for an intimate moment with family and friends. 3) Public again was able to view wedding as though they were apart of the affair. 4) They made it so hard for those to get to the venue despite age, disabilities etc.because even with a shuttle guest still had to walk a distance, which was very unprofessional on the owners behalf and unaccommodating. 5) when cleaning up, the bride and groom paid extra for the cleaning service and family ended up paying cleaning while owners over looked everything and directing us as if we were paid staff. 6) As for the paid staff very nice and helpful but when owners would intervene the situation would become hectic. My advise to all who chose to use this venue know what you want, and be wise, do not expect for it to go smooth and make sure you have supportive family and friends that also know your vision so they can help execute the wedding of your dreams. Good Luck!!!! Best Wishes!!!!

As an actor recently moved to Albuquerque I will support any company who supports our President or any President whos in office. These radical Democrats and liberals are the true enemy of our great country. BTW great wines to choose from.

travis bakewell

This is a great place to go

Denise Geoffrion

I will fully support a small NM business who believes in free speech. Shame on former Lt Gov. Denish for advocating financially hurting the backbone of our economy in this state. I'll be buying from this winery more now.

Ayllene Tedesco

Picturesque little spot with delicious wines and knowledgeable staff. Had a wine tasting with Heather and she was delightful! Would absolutely go back, if only for the great company.

Yehoon Ahn

i didn't know such place existed around me. such a pretty atmosphere to enjoy wine.

maggietorro

Overpriced, drab and gloomy. Decent wine but terrible customer service. Ostentatious with no reason to be.

Katrina Adang

While guys behind the front bar were very engaged with discussion with each other, they were less engaged with patrons the day I visited (Sun 12-16-18). The pond outside smelled of feces. Wish I could add a picture of it. Wine was great.

Jordan LeMay

Beautiful scenery, great wine and fun staff! Love this hidden gem in Albuquerque.

Mark McHugh

Amazing views and relaxing environment! However the wine is extremely mediocre. Nothing that will blow your socks off, high production. Still, I would say come to enjoy the ambiance!

B VV

The wine tasting is wonderful. Buy a bottle and it's free.

Luke Frerichs

This is a nice treat within the Albuquerque city limits. Nice atmosphere, good wine, many places to sit and relax with a glass. And they always have a unique sangria waiting to sample.

Allen sawyer

Peaceful Serene, Harmonious Undisturbed. A Great place.

Karen Willson

Delicious food, wonderful staff, gorgeous atmosphere .

Casa Rondeña Winery is a beautiful hidden gem. We adore this place and have been 1629 Club members for several years. I felt compelled to take the time to write a review after a truly wonderful experience with an exceptional team of people. My husband and I recently rented the 1629 Club for our real estate & property management company holiday party, and I was extremely impressed with how everything turned out! Ansel is a breath of fresh air at Casa Rondeña. He was especially impressive in his communication with me throughout the entire planning process and was very accommodating with any requests I had. I trusted him right away and I felt confident that he would make sure our event went smoothly. His professionalism, confidence, kindness, prompt responses, and overall personality, made the event planning process easy-breezy. Ansel went above and beyond. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so it was truly a joy knowing that I didn’t have to worry about anything and I was simply able to enjoy the party. I’m sincerely impressed, and I hope Ansel is part of the Casa Rondeña team for many years to come. Michelle and Ansel were our servers at the event and they did a wonderful job accommodating all of our guests. Our party consisted of 25 adults and 7 children. They helped us create a kids area with special meals and warm cocoa so that the adults could enjoy. Michelle & Ansel did an excellent job decorating our table and space- it was very tasteful and festive. They cheerfully greeted our guests, took their coats, and offered wine promptly. There’s wasn’t a moment of inattentiveness. Overall, the service was top-notch! The food was nothing short of outstanding!!! Head Chef Jerome and Sous Chef Derek prepared beautiful, grass-fed fillets sous-vide, scrumptious prawns, and tasty mashed potatoes for our entrees. The fillet was one of the best I’ve ever had- so tender, flavorful, and the perfect temperature! Wow, just wow! Our entire party was so impressed! Several of our guests told me that it was the best cut of meat they’ve ever had, and I whole-heartedly agree! The chefs also prepared fresh, beautiful winter salads for us, and lovely apple turnovers with perfectly creamy house-made ice cream. Everything was so delicious and the timing of all the food was impeccable! These guys know what they’re doing. I would also like to add that the wine at Casa Rondeña is superb right now. We’ve been members for about 7 years and the most recent releases are exceptional. The Cabernet Franc is absolutely perfect! This amazing team of people have truly made us feel valued as members. Thank you all!

Dinnah Dent

Love the atmosphere and wine! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tasting room is pretty small but there is a lot of room outside and plenty of seating. It's really a beautiful place.

Andre Perera

Best winery as far as looks... Wine is good not spectacular in my opinion. I liked the wine so don't get me wrong. Great staff!

Ben Gregoire

Nice place to have a glass of local wine. The food is somewhat pricey, but I never have had a bad experience.

Rebecca Bonsal

This is by far my favorite winery! I've been coming here for years and it's become a wonderfully special place for my fiancee and I. The wine is delicious, the staff is caring and attentive and the food is devine. Ansel, who runs the 1629 Club is amazing, as are Jessie and Eric in the tasting room and the rest of the staff. We love those guys! And John, the owner ,top is top notch. Well worth spending an afternoon amongst the vineyards and old world charm.

Joel Barrett

Open till 7pm so that’s different from all the other wineries that close at 5 or 5:30pm. Small selection of wines. All are pretty dry but if that’s your palate then you’ll love it. Beautiful grounds too!

Karen Fitzpatrick

Until you have tried to make your own wine, take care of your employees and property, pay your taxes (that by the way pay ALL public officials salaries) you have no idea the patience, care and knowledge it takes to do this. It is not a money making proposition, it is a labor of love. Beautiful property, great wines, open to EVERYONE!!! Enjoy!

Justin Goodman

Such a romantic evening. If you are looking for the best food, best service, best wine, look no further. Club manager, Ansel and Chefs, Jerome and David are the best Albuquerque has to offer. Thank you for such a memorable evening!

Dorothy Persons

Great place. Wish I saw it in the day light. Night time does not let you see all it's beauty.

Jeffrey Gonzales

Casa Rondena is a beautiful winery and the tasting room staff are incredibly kind and fun but the owner John Calvin is a tyrant that beliddles his staff in front of customers clearly because of his own insecurities. I’ve met John on multiple occasions yet he never remembers me, probably because he’s drunk off his own product. He’s a rude, pretentious, slovenly man that left me with a bad feeling the last time we were in . He was very aggressive towards the bartender in a way that shows an extreme lack of how a business should function. As a business owner myself I was deeply offended by his behavior. It’s an embarrassment to the industry. I can’t imagine what this place could be if it weren’t for him. Too bad.

BTM vlogs

Beautiful setting and great wine!

Manuel Marquez

The staff was very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable about their wines. After we did a wine tasting session, the manager was very nice and showed the entire property and did a behind-the-scenes with my wife and I -- something that's only exclusively allowed for members, which we weren't, so it was very kind and awesome of them to let us do that.

Jenny Hodge

So much fun on a Saturday night for a girls night out! Behind the bar staff was very knowledgeable and confident about the grapes, vineyard, and the wine. Great for locals and tourists.

Brianna Luna

We had our wedding ceremony at the 1629 Club on March 23, 2019 and let me just say.... If you are planning a spring wedding, choose this place! It was a beautiful day and the cherry blossoms had been in bloom. Jerry was great to work with and he coordinated everything with our vendors perfectly. I believe there was a small issue with parking at Taft, but it seems like Jerry and the shuttle drivers were able to work things out. We also purchased 2 cases of their wine which is also amazing! Casa Rodena was actually the first place we looked at for a ceremony venue and I am so glad we were able to lock our date in! We will be back for their wine and also highly recommend to our friends and family!

Steven Friedrichsen

It was a very good experience. Tasted 3 wines and the Merlot Rose was our favorite. Personal preference. Beautiful grounds and knowlegeble staff. Recommend highly.

Raffaello Blackley

The most beautiful winery in NM!

Donna Frumento

Beautiful & Friendly Atmosphere!! Gorgeous Surroundings! Best place for Any Venue!

Katelynn Frugé

Jesse is the best! We are 1629 members and we love it. Beautiful space and great ambiance.

Russ Jarek

Tucked off near the river, the Spanish feel of the tasting room compliments the old world varietals wonderfully. Stop in for great tasting or better yet attend one of the special events with excellent food pairings!

Kara topseller

Wonderful experience! Thank you for making your patrons and visitors feel so welcome!

Gail Roben

Great time. We look forward to stopping by again

Danae Moreno

I’ve lived in abq for 18 years, and I just found out about this winery, so we had to try. The property is beautiful and well maintained. It unfortunately was raining the entire time we were there, so we didn’t get to explore it at all, but the tasting room was nice, just no where to sit. The wines were good, I only liked 2 out of the 6 you get to taste, a couple of the wines were room temp, and so was the sangria. Overall a good time, wish there hadn’t been a wedding going on, because we were only allowed to be in the tasting room the entire time. Not sure if I would come back.

Jacob Dalton

This is a fantastic place to spend an evening. My wife and I have been members for just over a year and go a couple times a month. Anytime we have people visit from out of town we take a day to visit Casa. They have some fantastic special events. The grounds are beautiful and a great place to relax with a glass (or bottle) of wine. Most of all though, the staff is fantastic when you get to know them. Overall, one of the best atmospheres in all of Albuquerque.

Jason Janisch

This place is absolutely gorgeous! The wine was delicious, the Somalia was very knowledge.

Jeff Tyler

Stunning atmosphere. Kind, helpful staff. $10 tasting. Wine offered was on the dryer side. The real treasure here is enjoying the grounds. Sit among the vines and enjoy your wine. The Sunday we were here we enjoyed a live Spanish acoustic guitar performer.

Xavier Nuanez

It's super beautiful there. Great atmosphere and fantastic wine. Costumer service is top of the line. Highly recommended
