For many years I had always come to Alba. I brought many friends and family to the harvest winefest, and for wine tasting of all sorts. The place is beautiful and the wine is good, however the owner is very rude, and condisending. And with that bad attitude falls over into all his staff. There attitude is terrible. They act like there doing you a favor serving you samples. Like we should be privileged to go there, Really. There are so many other nice places to go. Go pass the place about 3 miles down the road to Villa milagro. great wine, wonderful owners. Alba lost a lot of people with their bad customer service. Shame on them...
Stopped in today to see if they could help me with a Austim project.. Management- a women made me feel like I was bothering her..And had no interest in helping me...When I was not asking them for anything that would be an expense to them...Very unfriendly and poor customer service ...I guess community service means nothing to them
Very cozy place. Tasting was interesting. I'm not a red wine lover, but I liked their white wines and rose wines. My favorite wine thought was Vintage Port desert wine. An absolute winner, sweet and infused with Brandy. Got 2 bottles of those. All wines are reasonably priced. I advise going here late spring or summer, because it was a bit cold in the tasting cellar.
Very disappointed with our visit to Alba today. $10/person cover to sit outside where the music was not that great. No outside food is allowed and the food options available there are extremely pricey. $17 for a small serving of bread and cheese. Definitely not worth the price and the service is terrible. Had to wait at least 20 minutes in line to place the order and another 20 minutes to receive it. Wines are average but not stellar. We will not be back.
The wine is the best around and you could not ask for a more scenic setting.
New tasting room is spacious. Great service, friendly, and a nice selection. Meatballs and cheese plate a good snack. Well worth a visit!
Magnificent vineyard, the best wines in New Jersey - tasting experience was first class, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Looking forward to future visits - highly recommend!
I have made several trips to Alba for their tastings, food truck festivals, and live music under the arbor. I highly recommend Alba Vineyard- the staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have an exceptional experience. They are very knowledgeable about their wines and the industry. The vineyard crew does an impeccable job of keeping the vineyard in prime condition year round and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to the completion of their new facilities as even bigger and better things are coming Alba's way!
When my friends and I walked in we told the staff member we have never been to a winery or wine tasting before. So she asked if we wanted a tasting and we said yes. Had to pay $10 per person. For 3 of us 2 small plates were placed before us. We were given a sheet to check off which wines we wanted to sample but immediately the woman started pouring, never giving us a chance to choose our selections. She kept pouring one right after the other and ushered us out, threw out our plates of food (which were almost full) and basically we were told to leave and if we wanted we could BUY a bottle of wine and go sit outside. When we went back inside to speak to a manager, she again came over to us and refused to even try to listen to us or make us feel welcome. We were not told there was more than one type of tasting (apparently there is a "personal" tasting offered as well). She never suggested a tour of the vineyard....nothing. I have never felt so unwelcomed as a customer in my life. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!!!
I used to like it here when it was small and quaint in a nice old barn.. Now it's fancy and expensive and the staff is not so nice! Oh well.. The wine and scenery are still spectacular..
LOVE Alba Vineyard!! Great wine! Great food! Wonderful staff!!!
Jen made our tasting AMAZING
Great wines, beautiful place
The wine tasting staff is very energetic and knowledgeable about all the wine; customer service is outstanding! You can enjoy a lovely tasting with a cheese platter pairing in the quaint, vintage tasting room. Highly recommend a trip!
Great first experience! We had a wine tasting and were taken on a tour of the facility. They went into detail about the wine making process. On the weekends you can buy a bottle of wine, sit outside and drink on the courtyard. Highly recommend!
It was a beautiful day, the music was nice, service was great, and the wine is delicious!! Kind of expensive for the tasting portion of the experience.
Beautiful place and good wine. But the wine tasting is way over priced! The $25 option comes with a meat/cheese plate but for our party of 5, we only got 3 to share. The food outside is also way overpriced.
Love this winery. So much charm and great wines. My favorite is the chambourcin.
The owner was rude. Headache after wine tasting.
Amazing and tranquil experience!! The wine was delicious and the peacefulness of the valley transcended me to another time! Just amazing!
Alba's events continue to be hit or miss. Today's event with Chef Jesse was more of a miss - not because chef Jesse did not work hard, he did. But Alba, while hosting the event (at $55 pp) did not support the cheff. They offered 2 glasses of wine for the BBQ event but they only offered 3 whites, one rose and a Pinot Noir - for a BBQ event. The cabs were available for sale without testing.. clearly, Alba does not respect their customers as series wine audience.
I have never found a winery I didn’t like...ALBA wines
Wanted to spend a couple of hours at a winery. Went to Alba had a tasting for my wife to see what wine she would like. I intended to buy a bottle and sit and drink it with her. Was told I had to have two tastings ($15 Each 1 for each of us) in order to sit on their grounds and drink a bottle. Not going back. Wine is pricey for it's caliber and then I have to spend $30 just to sit and drink it. Bad experience. Not going back.
Closest thing to Nappa Valley wines I have on the east coast. Phenomial wines and environment is great. A must ✔ out if you're in the area.
Always a great visit. Dry and complex wines that seem impossible in NJ but really come from NJ. Music most weekends from bands that are diverse and fun.
My husband and I will not be returning here. Very unfrienedly and we were yelled at for letting our dogs out of our jeep for a minute after being told it was ok by the sommelier. He was rude and extremely unfriendly. The place was expensive and definitely not worth your time unless you're rich and like miserable people
I called ahead and asked if the winery serves food or if we should bring a picnic. Was told that there is a cafe on the premises and outside food was not allowed. No problem. Fast forward to today... Visited the winery hoping to enjoy a bottle and the food from their cafe. It was threatening to rain and we were told that cafe was closed. Not sure where the cafe was as there was only an outdoor brick oven for pizza. So we asked if we could come back with a picnic to enjoy the wine and atmosphere. We were told that outside food is strictly not allowed, even if they are not serving food!!! What sense does that make? Today you lost a loyal customer, $ on the multiple bottles our party would have bought, and I will never again recommend Alba to anyone. The owners had such a great opportunity to make a welcoming atmosphere, a la Warwick Winery, and they failed horribly.
Unfriendly service beyond belief by the owner herself. Extremely disappointing experience.
The view alone coming from NYC is worth the ride. The wine is delicious and the pizza was great. The grounds are well kept and the interior is clean and modern.
Great new tasting room!
Wonderful setting, decent wine. Overall a fabulous experience.
Looked nice. Music in the back. But way overpriced! So we did not have a good experience.
Beautiful winery with delicious wines. $15 tasting for 8 wines and it includes the glass. Property is large and has nice views. Will definitely visit again.
Great wines, great prices, lovely setting. The tastings are conducted by knowledgeable staff, and should you visit on a weekend, there's entertainment and a pizza oven. Buy a bottle of something crisp, sit under the arbor and enjoy the mellow atmosphere.
Very nice but not a favorite. The wines are alright, raspberry dessert wine is the highlight! And they make a very nice and fruity riesling. Overall, the atmosphere is a little stuffy for our taste and $15 for a tasting is WAY too much. You get to keep the glass, though.... yay? Like we don't already have a whole collection of winery glasses. I wish they all would stop doing that and just have a lower priced tasting. They didn't even say that you get future tastings free if you bring the glass and we forgot to ask, but usualluly that's well advertised as an incentive at other wineries we've visited. They also have a reserve tasting for $25 that comes with a cheese plate, but we just felt it was too much. Maybe it could be nice in the summer where they have outdoor seating, but the overall atmosphere is not very relaxed or welcoming as there are a ton of signs on the way in not to bring outside food or drink. I would understand that if their restaurant was open, but this time of year it is not. They don't seem interested in letting people hang out to enjoy their wine or scenery, which is fine. We just enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.
Great vineyard. Absolutely amazing vine.
Gorgeous vineyard and amazing wines! Who knew Napa quality wines were right in our backyard. This is hands down the best vineyard in New Jersey, and I have been to most of them. If you have not visited Alba , you must, it will change the way you view wines of the Garden State. Cheers!!
Used to love this place!! Fun events on the lawn, with great music, dancing with grass between your toes. Felt very free-spirited. Sad to see it becoming just like all the others :-( The vibe is becoming stuffy and high society :-( Not for the locals anymore .
This review was removed from Yelp, not sure why as it does explain a consumer experience. My wife, 2 daughters and parents (who specifically asked to go here) visited the winery after spending some time at Ringing Rocks Park. As we pulled in, we saw the wine tasting room just off the parking lot and a nice sitting area outside. Since we had our dog with us, the plan was to take turns in the outside sitting area while we had some wine samples. No sooner did we start walking up the driveway towards the wine room that a lady came out and without so much as a hello she said no dogs are allowed on the property. I asked if she meant everywhere on the property and I was going to mention the sitting area, but before I could, she said no and returned inside. As my wife and I were heading back to the car to take turns staying with the dog, my mother took my 10-year-old daughter inside the establishment to use the bathroom. My mother returned and said the same lady told her that the bathrooms were for paying patrons only. In the meantime, my father had walked near the side of the winery to snap a few pictures as he is an avid photographer. Once again, the lady came out and told my father that he was not allowed to walk to the vineyards. He explained he was simply taking pictures that it was not his intention to wander around. When we told my father that the lady refused to let my daughter use the bathroom he went in to inquire. The same lady said that she can't let the general public to use the bathroom as they have a septic system. She went on and on about "what ifs" like a bus load of people wanting to use the bathroom. My father told her that it was not right to deny a child the use of the bathroom and that she just lost four paying customers. We proceeded to get in the car and leave. I was shocked at how a business owner could be so rude and unaccommodating to potential customers or the needs of a child. This individual is in the wrong job and needs a course in customer relations at the very least. It is a shame that we were treated with such an attitude as we were all looking forward to a nice time sampling wines and this put a damper on an otherwise great day. Needless to say we will never be back and will spread the word to all of our friends as well.
Not happy about our planned visit. I coordinated for two weeks to have 15 adults and 5 kids for a weekend of wine and relaxation when the event coordinator said they didn't feel comfortable accommodate us. They didn't want kids at the facility and didn't provide us with any other options to accommodate. Before their new facility was built, they were very friendly, now I think they are too "unfriendly" and think they are above locals. I'm a local, so I will certainly not be coming to this winery with family and friends visiting. VERY disappointing.
The family that owns this vineyard has a history in woodworking and they put this expertise into the new tasting room. It’s gorgeous! The wines are wonderful and moderately priced. This place is certainly worth a visit! You won’t leave empty handed as you’ll certainly bring home a stash of gems! We did a tasting and ended up buying some chardonnay, the red blend, and the Cabernet franc.
One of New Jersey’s best kept gem. This vineyard has beautiful views, friendly staff, and incredible award winning wines. It’s hard to believe you’re actually in New Jersey. Their new tasting room is one of the largest and most elegant I’ve been too. It’s defintely worth a visit or two...
Love it
Gorgeous vineyards, Alba is a family-owned oenophilic gem to discover. It brought me back to Napa Valley. It was a great experience for 4 of my friends and I from North Jersey. It was a sunny, wine-fueled afternoon. The educational tour with Tom was awesome. He’s an enthusiast and incredibly knowledgeable about wine culture. The Appetizer Pairings served during the wine testing were delicious. We enjoyed refreshing whites, powerful reds and a delicious dessert wine. Plus, the atmosphere was great with Live Music, a beautiful shaded courtyard patio and a amazing vineyard scenery.
Alba has been consistently great each time I visit! The staff is always welcoming and very knowledgeable about the vineyard and the wines they produce. This is not your ordinary tasting room, they take their time to get to know the customer and the types of wines you like! Wide selection of reds and whites. I cannot wait for the summer to sit outside under the arbor and enjoy their Rose'. Delicious!
8 tastings for $10 - very small servings, like 3 small sips each - all but one was available for tasting - small plates with a few cheese and crackers. I came with my fiancee, and we both bought a tasting, but they defaulted to giving us only 1 tasting plate. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and engaged, and had a lot of suggestions for the wine and pairings. tasting glass - 2 for $5 of you want to keep them Bought 3 bottles - gertzaminer, chambourcin, blueberry dessert wine Packing was poor though - it was a large brown bag, and there was an X shaped cardboard divider to separate the 3 bottles in there, and no cardboard on the bottom. They didn't double brown bag or include plastic or cloth on the outside. It's a good thing I had a cloth bag in the car to put it in.
Awesome place!!
Quick visit and rather expensive compared to other wineries. We each paid $15 for the tasting. They don’t let you pick which wines you want to try, it’s a fixed menu. I was disappointed in that because I don’t like red wine so it was a waste for the mandatory red wines on the list. The $15 allowed us to taste and also head to the back to sit and listen to the band play. Relaxing time with the family for sure.
Great New Jersey wines. And a beautiful place to walk around. Really cool that they let you walk around anywhere. Really recommend walking up to the wedding spot. It's beautiful. If my wife and I weren't already married this would've been a beautiful spot to consider.
Always love coming to Alba! The vineyard is absolutely beautiful. I always have a good time coming to music under the arbor on the weekends while doing a wine tasting and enjoying the food they have for sale outside. Last time there were oysters on the half shell and I went back for seconds!
Came here for a tasting over the weekend and I was blown away. I have been tasting all over the east coast and few wineries continue to raise the bar with each visit like Alba. Very excited about the new facility opening this fall it will be a nice compliment to their impressive vineyard. Pinot Noir is the standout here, very good Chardonnay and Riesling that rivals the best of the Finger Lakes! For the vineyard site and wine qualitiy it's hard to say there's a better value around. Keep up the great work guys!
European feel
One of my favorite places to visit. Offers great live music and perfectly made wine. Great for a date or just to get away and relax. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Impossible to have a bad time here!
Nothing short of sheer perfection! Kudos Alba!
I'm disappointed. We went today for the Valentine weekend of wine and chocolate. $40 per couple and the plate of chocolates was very small. The tasting was fine, wine was pretty good. But what upset me was we were told after our tasting that they weren't serving wines by the glass so we bought two bottles (another $40) with the intention to open one and enjoy a glass of our favorite there. Then we were told they wouldn't open our bottle because "then they would have to do it for everyone and there may not be enough room if they get busy". So, we drove an hour there for a short tasting and then couldn't even stay to enjoy the scenery and have a glass of wine? I have never heard of a winery doing this. I suggest if you advertise an event like this, you expect and allow people to hang out for a little bit. Oh, and you can't bring any food but they also didn't have anything open to serve either. Interesting. So we spent $80, drove an hour and had a short tasting with a few chocolates. I'm sure it's better in the summer but honestly, this left a really bad taste in my mouth and I probably won't go back.
