REVIEWS OF Ancient Fire Mead & Cider, LLC IN New Hampshire

Mr Harvey

I went to Ancient Fire with some friends. They had a number of ciders and meads on the menu, additionally they had a separate snack menu to pair with your beverages of choice. We had just missed their Strawberry Lemonade batch but the owner’s wife said to keep our eyes out for other special brews coming out in the near future. Overall, I was most pleased with their regular apple cider. I found their grape infused ciders to be tasty as well. Can’t wait to see what else they have in store. This location offers indoor and outdoor seating, and a honey tasting station - very neat.

Excellent mead and creative flavors!

My fiancé and I dropped in to check the place out after seeing them online. The drinks were great tasting and they had a wide variety of flavors. The owners were very welcoming and personable! We're looking forward to going back again.

Gotta check this new place out, they have some amazing stuff unlike anything I've had elsewhere. And yes I've had mead before, but their stuff is out of this world

Friday night was my second visit to AF. Jason and Margo are gracious hosts, and very accommodating in terms of me being in a wheelchair. I tried two different types of mead. The first was "What's Your Midichlorian Count," a sour cherry and lime draft mead. The second one was "Island Jam", session mead made with blackberry, mint, and lime. Both were #DeliciousAF #AncientFire

A co-worker has been bragging about the Winter Hum and it lived up to my expectations. The coffee is very apparent but not overpowering. I was greeted promptly and with the kindness of someone loving their passion and thrilled to share that. I am excited to try the ones housed in whiskey barrels one they are ready for the public!

Love the meads, they are light and refreshing, and always a variety

J Campbell

Great selection of meads. Many of which (session meads) are lower ABV and less sweet than other local meaderies. They drink more like hard cider and are refreshing anytime beverages as opposed to 'dessert' drinks. Great friendly staff and fun atmosphere.

This place is awesome. The mead, the staff, the location: everything about this place is a fantastic experience. The mead at Ancient Fire is a testament to the 15+ years of experience brewing mead that the owners (Jason and Margot) have. They put out a quality, delicious, affordable product that caters to a wide variety of palates (with 13 different taps on at any given time, they’ve got something for everyone to enjoy). If you’re a fan of traditional mead, you’ll feel right at home trying their Local Action or Varietal Series. If standard mead isn’t your fare, they have a number of “session” meads that go down way smoother than traditional mead. While their Maker’s series is great for a lighter, smoother tasting mead than a standard, there’s plenty there that branches away from the traditional mead flavor. From the coffee and maple Winter Hum, to a refreshing raspberry lemonade mead Lonestar Lemonade, to the fan favorite Cruising Elm (which is constantly compared to a delicious grape juice), anyone walking in the door will find something they’ll enjoy. In addition to their mead, they’ll usually have a cider or two on tap, and they have a guest tap where you’ll find a beer from a local brewer. If you don’t have time to stick around, grab a growler to go! With the constant rotation of their taps, you’ll be finding something new each time you come in (even if it’s every week). The service is professional, quick, and enjoyable. Everyone there always greets people with a smile, whether or not you’ve been there 100 times or it’s your first time in. If you haven’t tried mead before or it’s your first visit, Jason or Margot will take the time to talk to you about mead, what makes their mead different from others you might’ve tried, and they’ll recommend something for you based on what flavors you like. If you’re a regular mead drinker, they’ll tell you what’s new on tap. Jason and Margot take time to go to each table and make sure you’re enjoying what you’re having. They’ve got a great staff on hand (who are just as wonderful as Jason and Margot) to answer any questions you might have and make sure you’re never empty for more than a minute. Getting to Ancient Fire is easy; it’s right by the Manchester Airport, so it’s very accessible (easy to get to off the Everett Turnpike or 293). If you’re familiar with some of the local craft breweries, you might be happy to hear Ancient Fire is just a stone’s throw away from Backyard Brewery and Long Blue Cat Brewing (as well as within an easy drive from Great North, Stark Brewing, Candia Road Brewing Company, and plenty of others). If you’re new to the area, I recommend checking out the Manchvegas Brew Bus. Inside Ancient Fire you’ll find a fun atmosphere that anyone is welcome to join. There’s solid music, samples of honey to be had, and some pretty fantastic snacks too (try the chips and dip). They recently opened the patio for the summer too, so you can sit outside and enjoy the weather or hang inside when that sun is a bit much to handle. And if you’re not sold yet, they have constant events to give back to the community, such as donating a dollar from every pint sold to a local charity (and then matching that donation personally, because that’s just how Jason and Margot roll). Ancient Fire is a must see, whether you enjoy mead, cider, craft brewing, or are just someone looking to try something a little different. The mead is delicious, the prices are great, the staff is professional, and the owners are simply incredible people. You’ll be hard pressed to find a better mead, or someone more passionate about it than Jason, Margot, and the AF crew.

We had looked up cider places in the Manchester, NH area and found Ancient Fire. We decided to give it a whirl and it did not disappoint. Jason and Margot were welcoming and attentive despite the growing crowd. They made each person feel like they were having their own unique experience. We took the tour and again were not disappointed. The passion Jason has for his craft radiated during our tour. The entire experience was top notch from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we said good-bye. We will definitely be back to fill our growlers again!

Our group has been going here for almost a year, I've been thrilled with the great customer service and the Mead is amazing. I highly recommend them for good drinks and fun time.

Absolutely delicious session meads and wonderful people. The crusin' elm is a favorite, but I love all the different recipe ideas they have.

Jason and Margot have a great brand and a great product that they are clearly passionate about. They are active in the craft scene and offer a great product at a competitive price, especially when you see the amount of effort they put in to support the product and business, and continue to innovate and improve. Their session/"crushable" meads are a fantastic alternative to beer and can be enjoyed by anyone especially those who enjoy beer, wine, or cider. They have a great variety of flavor profiles and I appreciate that they are using local ingredients when possible and all flavorings are organic and not synthetic. The new patio is a great option for nice weekend weather days as well. I hope to see them continue their success and possibly expand and provide a full gastropub type of experience and add a few larger food options (pizza, burger, etc) down the line. Everyone we have brought here has loved it and we go at least a couple times per month.

Jason Marcil

Delicious cider and mead recipes. There are no TV's so it's a better place to go with friends to socialize.

Spencer Bischof

Mead is amazing!! They also have nice food to compliment the mead and cider.

Fantastic new place in MHT. Brewer run leaders featuring small batch mead and cider brewed from the freshest ingredients. Small venue adds to the quaintness and sense of family. Jason is more than happy to answer your questions about mead and the ingredients he uses. Small simple food menu. Great place to enjoy some great conversation and sip. I look forward to bringing a cribbage board next visit.

Great new meadery! You are fortunate if you are local to this place...

Slow service. Even with 4 people working there. You could wait 30m to get a refill. Otherwise tastes very good. --- I was banned for giving a 4 star review. Instead of addressing the criticism and fixing the problem, the owner (Jason) banned me. That is a sign of narcissism (attacking anybody who criticizes, no matter how small). Jason said I should have talked to him first. However both him and Margo (his wife) passed me by while I had an empty glass, my finger in the air, and I was looking directly at them. That prompted me to hit 'send' on the review. I don't know what else I could have done except snap my fingers at them. The day I waited 30m was several weeks ago, in a corner behind the bar. I watched the minute hand swing from 15 after to 45 after as I watched them dry glasses, but I questioned why they had to clean glasses when they had so many clean ones under the bar, where I could see them stacked. I left my hand up for what felt like 10m at a time, with several breaks. The day I was banned I was there about 15m before someone asked what I'd like. I was a regular, so this has been an ongoing problem. I waited for them to fix the problem several weeks. I believe I even left a note about slow service in the Clover frequent customer app the week before I was banned. Since I'm now free to complain, the food is the legal minimum requirement; all processed and pre-packaged. The ambiance is obviously terrible since it's an office park. (I didn't hold those against them.) I've been in 5-star restaurants/bars and they will serve you water and refill without you even having to ask. This is definitely not 5-star service. I'll have to remove this place from our community calendar. I regret telling people about it now. Will they be successful? Probably if they focus on distribution; they obviously suck at customer service.

Delicious sweet session meads that really bring out the honey flavors. Worth the trip to Manchester. Join the mead revolution!

Greg Fournier

Great mead. There are 2 other meaderies in the area whose mead taste like cough medicine. AF also has many varieties. Brought some AF to different parties with friends always a hit.

Wonderful, as always. Great service and an even better product. Jason and Margot are passionate about their work and it shows in every Mead or cider. We always find something we like and have become regular patrons of this awesome place. The snacks are great and often clutch and the variety of meads fits every taste.

Amazing ciders and meads with unique recipes and cool ingredients. Try their hopped ciders, fruit-flavored meads, and ginger mead. You'll have a chance to meet the owners while you're there, and hear about how they came up with their varieties. A great stop every time I go.

Friendly and knowledge staff, relaxed atmosphere - if you enjoy mead, I'd recommend a visit!

A bit busy, but that's because the mead is worth the wait. Very friendly staff, and the best mead I've had at very reasonable prices
