This Winery belongs to the category of Winery.
The best view in the area. The interior building is in dire need of an update. Not very friendly. The grounds are amazing and make it worth the visit! We paid $5 cover for an off key and out of tune band. The band was so terrible that it actually made us leave early.
Beautiful view, terrible wine.
Beautiful views and good wine
Great wine, staff, and absolutely gorgeous facility!!!
The view is amazing! The atmosphere and music were wonderful. The wine is not as great as the wineries. I prefer dry so if you like sweet this might be for you. Either way definitely worth the trip!!
This winery has the most fabulous piece of land I have come across in Missouri. The view is phenomenal. That being said, as we drove up we noted that their "Live music today" sign was bolted to the signpost meaning that they must always have live music. As we drove up, we noticed the umbrella advertisements for mass marketed beer products. This was even before they advertised their own wine. The staff was very polite and courteous and ensured we got the samples we wanted. The wines were tasty, but unoriginal. Not the best we've had, but decent. With a huge wine selection and given the list of wines offered, it was apparent to us after visiting many Missouri wineries that they probably do not produce many of their own wines. A purchase of an over priced bottle confirmed this as it was clearly bottled by Oak Glenn in Altus, AR. It is likely that they have their own blends from Le Bourgeois. For example: Trolley Red likely = River Boat Red. A visit to the gift shop revealed something that resembled a cross between a storage room and gift shop. The wine glass offered by them with their named on it is a cross between a wine glass and a bill board. After many Missouri wineries this is the first time that I received a wine glass with an address and phone number on it. This will stay up on the shelf. Overall, this winery could be such a fantastic place with just a little more work. It's too bad that the owners clearly are focused more on commercialism and a party atmosphere than a winery. $$$ for sampling.
Our first experience here was terrible. We won't be back. Celebrating an Aunts 70th birthday. We paid a $5 per person cover fee to get in. We were not there 5 minutes and the Aunt passes out and stops breathing. No one had anything to drink. The police officers were great as well as the paramedics. However the staff made it very clear they wanted us off the property and were were not welcome back as this was now a liberality. There was 0 concern for this elderly lady who was now being transported to the hospital. We had no intention of staying but the fact that they kept repeating this was sickening. No worries oak Glenn we will never be back.
Great ambience, great views. The wine, not so great.
Had a blast! Highly recommend it.
Beautiful scenery. Stunning. Certainly worth a visit.
OakGlenn has amazing views of the Missouri River and the surrounding countryside. I really liked their space. I also really liked their wines- especially the Rose.
One of my favorite wineries. Awesome view, great wine, and friendly staff
ABSOLUTE WORST staff and customer service. Don't spend money here.
My husband and I visited this winery during the day and had a great experience. The views and the amount of outdoor seating is amazing. We did a tasting and bought a bottle of the blackberry wine. We usually like dry red wines but their blackberry wine is a great alternative that's not too sweet.
Beautiful view.
Monday October 24th, 2016 1130am. Tasted wines. Even though they had been open for 1.5 hours, things still weren't settled from the previous day. Place wasn't cleaned. Large Flys everywhere . Im talking Sudan Africa starving child picture flys. Yellow jackets unbearable. Great views of the river. Wines worst of all the Herman wineries sampled. Dan Venegoni
Amazing view of the Missouri River but I stood in line for 15 minutes to buy a bottle. They had 2 people serving everyone on the Sunday of labor day.
Favorite winery because of the view and the wine!
Stung by a bee....and by the Owner, too! Should have trusted my instincts with this venue.... First, my 16 year old daughter gets badly stung by a bee in 4 places under her dress right after the ceremony (obviously not the owners' fault, but he had no compassion either) Then when our guest, my close friend, gets creative insight for a photo opportunity for us, we walk through an open gate since Glen was riding around in his golf cart, the No Trespassing sign unseen. Pictures were halted with Glen scolding us and lecturing me, the bride, for not asking permission since he heard I was prior military with USAF. In the same breath, he thanks me for my service to our country, WOW. Did we knock a rock out of place in the drive or flatten a blade of grass?!?! Close your gate so the sign is visible next time, Glen. Don't visit Oak Glenn Winery expecting a warm reception. Their staff is great but the owners are sour grapes and all about the $$$ only. (Thanks Chad H, the reviewer on Trip Advisor, who witnessed this incident) Visited September 2013
A friend told me the view and wine was something she wanted to go back to so I went along and to my amazement I keep going back. This is a must on any wine road trip or girls day out.
My wife and I visit this winery every year as part of the Berries and BBQ and this year we decided to finally do a tasting since we arrived early and they were not busy. We stood at the tasting counter and waited for someone to help us. There were two employees helping other groups and three other employees doing lord knows what behind the counter. As we continued to wait people started to file in behind us. Finally someone came over but then proceeded to tell the people that just arrived behind us that she could help them at another area of the bar while no one even bothered to ask if we had been helped even though we had been standing there waiting without so much as an acknowledgment the whole time we were there. We decided to just leave at that point and spend our time at one of the other wineries. Great view and location but service and friendliness are a bit lacking.
Great view, just a mile east of center of town. Plenty of seating and live entertainment. For non wine drinkers there is beer, liquor and mixed drinks.
Awesome views and fantastic wines.
I really like it. Great view! Is an amazing place to sit outside enjoy the view have a really good glass of wine. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathroom was extremely clean...oddly clean for men's room.
We had such a fantastic time here. Spend 3 hours just shooting the breeze and enjoying a few bottles. The view is beautiful and the wine, great.
Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced. The owner’s brother is beyond rude and ungracious. The treatment we received from this ill-mannered man was absurd. He will continue to drive away business if you allow him to interact with your customers. Sangria is $8 a cup which is more ice than liquid and it taste like a watered-down spritzer. The wine selection was poor and overpriced. Bring your own wine to Oakglenn. Beware of an angry, aggressive, overweight, older man.
Beautiful place, probably one of the best views in the area. Wine is great also. Give this place a try. You won't be disappointed.
The view, even at the end of December, is amazing. I enjoyed the new upstairs area with tables and windows perfect for viewing the river and the vineyard within the warmth of the building. The wine, however, was nothing that left any noteworthy impressions. Had my grandmother never introduced me to Muscadine wine, I might not have enjoyed this place as much.
In Hermann last weekend with our group of friends for Octoberfest as we do every year. Last year we ended our day at Oak Glen for wine, beer & dancing fun! This year we left Stone Hill & drove out there to find a $10 per person cover charge! Really? For what? We turned around, went back to Stone Hill drink wine, beer & dance! Now we know from now on to not waste our time driving out there & try some other places that want our business.
They have a great view and entertainment area. It's a plus that they are open later too. Unfortunately, the wine was not the greatest, and after drinking quite a few bottles we still barely even felt buzzed, and I'm usually a light weight. And the bottles were averave $20. They do sell beer though. Their pizzas were a little disappointing as well, $13 for a very thin and almost burnt off toppings.
Racist ho working the gate. Only charges for POC.
Went to Hermann for Octoberfest, OakGlenn was on the trolley loop, but we couldn't even get out of the trolley without pay a $10 dollar cash cover fee that did not include any wine tasting. We went on to the next winery, thought this was very rude.
This is my least favourite of all three Missouri wineries my wife and I frequent but my wife likes one of the wines. This is a very commercial winery and some of the staff are rude and act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. Thus is a popular stop, is usually busy, and the Hermann Trolley does stop here. The site is beautifully located with views of rolling hills and the mighty Missouri river.
Read other reviews and you will realize the scenery is the best part of this winery. I would give that alone 5 out of 5. I have also found the employees inside the facility to be real nice and helpful. Last time we came on the trolley just after 330 pm on a Saturday. There was a guy halfway up the trail taking a cover charge of $10 per person for live music. We left at 615 pm and still no music. You get your hand stamped so you can come back but not worth it. If you go to this place mostly on Friday and Saturday and don't want to pay the cover make sure you get there in the morning/early afternoon. The only reason we come here is for the scenery and to bring friends that haven't been to Hermann before. I always drink beer here instead of wine. Wine is below average
The most rude customer service experience ever. Not sure about anything else because we couldn’t sit down without the woman outside getting upset about where we tried to sit and telling us about making room for guests. We are guests? Never will return.
Great views and good wine.
poor wine
Wine is.. fine. FYI - if you buy a bottle they charge $3 for an ice bucket to keep their mediocre wine cold. Seems odd, you would think they would want to make sure their wine taste as good as possible.
Staff is not friendly. Plenty of other wineries in the area to forget this one.
This was my favorite wine and scenery. But it was so expensive i didn't purchase any off the wine.
Was here to pick up my wife and her friend after the "Beer and bagel" run, so we didn't stay long. But, the place is very nice and huge. Wow, the view was amazing, too. I'd totally like to come here for lunch or dinner. :)
Had to pay an entrance cover fee of $5 each person before even getting into the actual winery for "live music" which was not all that. The wine was very disappointing. The only thing that was good was their Moscato in my opinion. The only good thing about this place was their location and patio set up. I'd only go back to enjoy the view of the river.
Nice place to stop in and visit. Lots of entertainment in the summer, quiet in the winter.
Be prepared to pay a cover to get on the property. If you dont pay the cover, they wont even let you come in to safely turn around. So, if you dont pay the cover, f*** you. In a town full of great wineries, how can you run a business like this?
Good experience, good wine, and best views in Hermann! More wine please!!!
Very friendly atmosphere,relaxing,beautiful,clean,
Beautiful view
Lots of space and great views. My only negative is that the tasting area is pretty small. If you come during peak time you might have to wait. They also have live music in the evenings after other wineries close.
Very nice place
Great views looking at the hillside and across the river. Great people to socialize with while getting samples.
The scenery here is the best in Hermann BUT the wine is not the best. I am big on local Missouri wines and this was a little disappointing. However, the set and setting is really great here.
Beautiful fews from winery ,staff was Awsome very Knowelable and friendly
Beautiful view! Great moscato wine.
Terrible customer service and outrageous prices to even "get on the property" as the old lady in the parking told us. Charging a bus of 50 $500 to simply enter the winery is ridiculous. That $10 pp gets you a line for food, a line for wine and nowhere to sit with the limited seating available. plenty of other wineries available with better service and better prices.
Excellent ambiance and scenery is awesime!
Went to this winery on the wine trail this weekend. I have to say they are the absolute worst in all Missouri Wineries. Rude, down right nasty people. Then to top it off they run out of food. We paid $60 a couple for this. They should remove themselves from the trail if they cannot uphold to any type of standard! I wouldn't give them one star if I didn't have to to speak my mind. We will be letting a few of the organizers of our experience.
Out of all the Missouri wineries that I have been to, this one was the worst. It has a nice view in one area (see pictures), but the tasting room and the seating areas are rough. The service was with annoyed staff and much of the attitudes of the staff was not caring at all. I think they are tired of constant tourists or something ... at least that is what it felt like. The food is expensive and cheap quality. The wine was OK only and the beer is only Bud, Bud Light, etc. It is too bad that they don't help other local businesses and carry the town's local beer.
A local recommended this winery as the one that was a must due to its incredible views. It's located on a hill overlooking the river. I can't wait to see it in the fall! Another thing that sets this winery apart is that it offers live music in the evening. Most wineries close around 6 (on Saturday, at least), so this gives visitors something to do at night.
The best view of Hermann, MO wineries! Inside is ok, new addition upstairs is nice and has windows for the view. But we go for the patio. Decent wine, nothing I dislike and a few that I enjoy. Snacks available, no substantial food.
Beautiful area even in February! Friendly and a great time!
I would not suggest going to this winery while visiting Hermann, Mo. Don't waste your time. The only thing they have going for their venue is the great view, but they charge $5 per tasting for cheap overpriced wine that they don't even make (most of their wine is made in a different state, not made in MO). Plus they charge a $5 cover charge per person to listen to crappy live music, no matter how long you are there. Multiple staff was also rude to all four member's of our group. It doesnt matter if you want to just try their wine and enjoy the Mo wine trail. They should be removed from the list of MO wineries because they have ZERO standards.
Can't complain, except ! it's commercial , the Band was great, food great , Wine very Good , what the hell , I had a lot of fun , and the people and Staff very friendly , I was going to give them a four , but thinking back , make that a Five , enjoyed my self with friends , and I'll be back.
Ahh, a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. We enjoyed relaxing on the shaded patio, sipping refreshing Moscato, and sharing crackers and cheese. Nice way to end the weekend.
One of the best wineries I have been to.
Best wine with muskadene grapes. Great view and staff
Great view
Beautiful place!
Had a great time with a friend, really nice winery.
