Wine just okay (personal opinion) but view and ambience excellent!!

Keren Gomez

One of my favorite wineries!! Their fruit wines are perfect for newbies but pass me the Reserve Norton!! I love that you currently get 5 tastings for $5 or $8 for access to the reserve products and you get to keep the glass! We had slushees today that were amazing! The view is something not like anything we’ve seen along the Augusta wine trail! Make sure that during the summertime you’re wearing deep woods bugs spray because ticks & chiggers are around!

GREAT GREAT GREAT place! fabulous!

It was a very disappointing visit. If the manager had shown any empathy whatsoever, it wouldn't have been as bad. A good friend had called ahead and in great detail explained that she wanted to come and have dinner and a glass of wine on the dexk for her birthday. She was told over the phone that no reservations were needed ... just come. We got there and then, and only then, the manager stated that we would have had to sign up for that online and that and that the dinner on the deck was full. She said we could order pizza for a only a few more minutes and sit in a different area. We did not come for pizza. The manager actually argued and said that we didn't have to have reservations but did have register online. We explained again that the person on the phone was given all the information necessary to understand that this was a very special celebration and that we wanted a NICE dinner, but that the person had NOT mentioned anything about registering online. The manager was unmoved. Not a single indication was communicated that there was the least bit if empathy. My friend went to the restroom and was practically in tears. We left and went to Balducci's Winery down the road and were treated with great respect.

Very friendly service and generous pours. Amazing views

I have visited Montelle winery in the past. It was actually in the fall of 2018. Loved the scenery. Service was average. Thus my fiancé and I decided to invite a number of friends to celebrate our engagement with a wine tour this June. Once we entered the winery we were treated very rudely. We understand that our driver made an error in entering the winery with a bus even though buses are not allowed. He was also panicked that our bus was overheating. We were all too busy singing and hollering and did pay attention to all the signs. But the demeanor of the lady was very degrading. I will not visit Montelle again. There are too many other option in STL area with great scenery, great service and far greater service.

This winery cant decide if they want to accept limos or not. Went there in a limo twice this summer, first time no issue second time we were greeted by a hot headed man boy. He very agressively demanded our group leave even after we apologized and offered to have the limo park in their lower lot and we would walk down the hill we were told to get out. So skip this place head on to Mount Pleasant they welcome larger groups. Their wines and view are far superior anyway.

Montelle Winery has a great variety of wines, wonderful service, and an absolutely beautiful view of the landscape with a very spacious seating area. As my wife said: "one of the best places to see a sunset". We've visited over 90/135+ Missouri Wineries and although all of them are unique (in their own way) none of them can even begin to boast about the marvelous views and accomodations that Montelle features. Thank you for a great visit! We will definitely be back!

Denis Voyer

Great time with the best hosts I know Joe and Karen Cammarata. Very enjoyable!

Phyllis Maxwell

Today was a chilly, rainy, windy day but not a problem here. The screened rooms were protected and there were heaters that really warmed the place outside. The food, wine, and music were good too.

Colleen Martin

Beautiful views, tasty wine & good friends, Priceless!

Power Button Revelations

Happy mood, friendly staff with lots of knowledge on the product, and a nice small variety of wines and spirits. Open air patio with live music brings an up beat aura to an otherwise great family and friends experience.

Hari Kulkarni

Amazing atmosphere plus live music to add to the experience. Unforgettable.

If you are looking for a MO winery with spectacular views - Montelle is your place. If you are planning to host a large event - do not expect good customer service - or any service. We figured that out quickly as we dealt with Sue (The Winery Manager). As a customer - I/we never felt worse about a venue choice with the simple goal of having a fun party. Sue made everyone involved in our party set up crew feel like the winery was doing us a favor by allowing us to spend a significant amount of money at Montelle. She treated everyone as if we were employees - being managed badly - by a manager - that had obviously never been trained to manage. It was that bad. The party went on as planned but the feelings of those that took the wrath (And I mean wrath) of Sue - over the use of a fan (Yes a fan - on one of the hottest days of the year), an argument with a 70+ year old over an improper sandwich delivery time, and wine that was supposed to be chilled brought to the party spot in boxes with no ice - left with a bad taste in their mouth for Montelle Winery. I found the experience to be very sad. Sad for the owners who obviously take pride in their business. They probably did not even know this type of attitude takes place - but they know now. OK. Onwards and upwards.

Wickland Family

Love it! Wonderful wine and food, friendly and helpful staff, and killer scenery! The best winery in the Augusta area!

Bryce Caster

Beautiful views from this winery. Wine was good, but nothing special.

Beautiful hike in Klondike Park. We chose Montelle Winery to top off the day. We decided on 5 dollar wine tasting. Our server,Bobby, was very aloof, snooty, and stingy on the pour. Not even enough to sample, maybe half a sip worth. I graciously asked for a bit more pour of the Norton wine and guess what he did next? He took both our glasses and dumped them out. His response was he gave us Norton Reserve. This sample costs more and I suppose we weren't worth it? He was very rude. Why blame us for his mistake? And then insult us by pouring it out? Is hiking attire not acceptable at this winery? I don't understand why he had such an attitude. I don't recommend this place. To add insult to injury the choice of music was loud and decade old wedding dance songs. I bought a bottle to be courteous to the winery, but Bobby needs to take "customer service 101" I'm director of sales for a large company in downtown St. Louis.

Beth Wiles

Enjoyed our lunch...pizzas are delish! Good choice of wines. Beautiful view!

We have been coming to this winery for the past 7 years. This used to be our go-to winery, but after the past two negative experiences (both visits within the past month) we will be taking our business a little further down the road to Mt. Pleasant. We had a group of 15 people for a graduation celebration today. We had some tables pushed together to accommodate the group. A female manager (short blond hair, mid to late 50s) rudely came up to our table and began breaking our tables up as she was explaining that we couldn't arrange the tables as we had arranged them. We were taken off-guard by how RUDELY we were treated. I asked why we couldn't push tables together, and all she said was that "it's just the owner's rules". She had a very sour attitude throughout the whole encounter. She could have handled the situation so differently, but decided to conduct herself so inappropriately by moving our tables around without permission. She acted as if we were breaking the law and should have known better. When we explained that we were open to other seating arrangements to accommodate all 15 people, she had no suggestions other that we couldn't sit how we were sitting. She literally broke up our entire table and left the group's tables scattered about. She pissed the entire table off and changed the mood of the party in an instant. I'm not sure if this is a result of a change in management, but judging by the recent negative reviews, I would convey to management that some common courtesy goes pretty far. Bye for now, Montelle.

I tried the wines at Hyvee when they were offering sampling. I love the himmelswein! It's super adorable wine and excellent flavor. I normally like a dry full bodied red and very few sweet whites, but this white is excellent. I can't wait to buy more next time I'm at Hyvee.

Tamara Peeples

A great place to enjoy outdoor scenery and sample local wines.

Cynthia Blackmon

I give it 4 stars because, I was heart broken that they did not have but one last candle that we needed.

Amra Hodzic

Came all the way from Oregon to visit some friends and go to a winery- which is traditional for us. We arrived on motorcycles and didn't even get off the bikes before we got yelled and and told to leave. I will visit STL again but will NEVER try to go to that winery again. Absolutely horrible experience.

Matthew Lahti

Very good place and people, even have samples for kids.

Sarah Hernandez

Had a great experience and plenty of good wine and snacks. The raspberry wine was my favorite. The view is amazing and really nothing disappointed me. Happy to get to share the experience with good friends. The music and dancing was also super fun!

John Humason

Pleasant sampling experience with several tasty wines, beautiful setting.

My husband and I visited Montelle Winery in July to celebrate both our Wedding Anniversary and my Birthday. We neglected to sign up for the sunset dinner and by the time we got there that day, they were booked. We spoke with the manager Sue and explained our situation. She said she would speak to the chef and call us if they could work us in but it wasn't too likely. Much to our delight, Sue did indeed call us back and told my husband and I that after speaking with the chef, they were able to squeeze us in after all. The view was incredible, the food & wine were amazing and the staff (including the manager Sue) were top notch. They even gave us a personalized card signed by the staff wishing me a Happy Birthday and Congratulating us on our Wedding Anniversary. Sue and her staff went out of their way to make it an amazing night that we won't soon forget. We can't wait to return!!! Thank you to Sue & your wonderful staff.

Great place

Amber Geiger

They take the NO FOOD rule to the extreme!!!!! The man at the door all but yelled at me over my sunscreen he thought was food. Nice view, decent wine. The wine tasting guy was super nice but the management were not so much.... so enjoy your trip just announce your sunscreen at the door.

Mary Kurtz

Our last visit to Montelle. Staff is rude, condescending and non accommodating. Montelle used to be one of our favorite placws. Our last two visits have been very disappointing. Plenty of other wineries to enjoy

Kena Brown

Come for the view, music and wine but don't expect great service from the staff. The gentleman at the tasting was pleasant and knowledgeable. The waitstaff for the sunset dinner was not very friendly at all basically, rude!

Will Huhn

The first of a few wineries I visited Labor Day Monday. The drive through the area down 94 is scenic and the views from the deck here are even better. Due to a varied menu of many wines grown directly from their vines, they don’t need to support their menu with imports like other wineries in the area do. The Vignoles was incredible and the prices were even better. The $5 for 5 tasting and glass is a steal! Will definitely return next time I’m in the area.

J Pani

Great way to spend a Sunday fun day! The food is great, the wine & wine slushy are tasty and the views are spectacular!

Jason & Cheryl

I highly recommend Montelle. My fiancé and I visited from Texas, and hearing great news about them, it was a must on our list to visit. We were not disappointed. They are good people and took good care of us to ensure we didn’t walk away without a good experience. The view, on top of it, was amazing as well. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stop by again.

Brittany Butler

We were out for my friends 21st birthday party and was accused of stealing from the tip jar. We did go to a winery before this one but we did have our designate drivers and they agreed that we did not steal. We. Love Sue but Bobby is the one who insisted we stole. After we told them to check the video tapes, sue came in and tried to fix the situation and gave us a free bottle of wine. Still would not go there again. Please avoid.

Beth Oris

Entertainment was excellent

Shan Roberts

Awesome wine and good people. Beautiful views.

shawn mcconnell

Good wine and a beautiful view of the Missouri River.

First let me say I wanted so bad to give this place a great review. After months of planning we finally arrived at Montelle Winery (there were 7 of us girls). I had been in contact with the Winery manager prior to our arrival due to the rules and regulations that they have on limos and buses and group sizes. We actually booked a van that was much bigger than we needed in order to be in compliance. I had discussed the vehicle with them prior to booking it and was assured that it was fine because it would fit in a regular parking spot. However, that is not the case. We were dropped off at the front door and then our driver took the van to the very back of the parking lot to assure he was out of the way ( just to be on the safe side). We decided to do the wine tasting and also order food, not aware that the wine tasting needed to be paid for at the back desk we all walked up to the tasting bar and were rudely told that we needed to go to the back to pay... (ok not totally a big deal). We paid for our tasting and also decided to order food as well (which was really really good). We started our tasting and the lady that was pouring our wine kept leaving us and talking with co workers not paying any attn. to the fact that our glasses were empty and that we were waiting after finally making it to wine 3 some of our food began to arrive (at this time we had been standing there for 20 mins for 3 wine samples out of 7) my friend took a bite of her salad and was immediately scolded like a child and told she could not eat here food at the bar (still not a huge deal..but there was nothing stating this and we were not told this at the register). Finally after eating and enjoying the food we all went in and purchased ALOT of wine and I mean ALOT we text the driver we were ready to be picked up so that we did not have to haul cases of wine across the parking lot. As we were loading everything up a bouncer type guy came out and began staring at us then another female staff member came out and began harassing our driver making threats towards him and accusing him of being in violation of their no van over 8ft tall rule (ok so all of a sudden after talking to them for months and getting approval prior to renting the van there is an 8ft tall rule that no one mentioned ...until we spent a lot of money there that is...) the lady requested the drivers card and advised him she would be reporting him BLAH BLAH....the threats continued until we were all on and had packed all of the wine (which by now I wanted no part of and neither did anyone else.) Fast forward 3 days later I returned home with this still on my mind went through all emails making sure I had not missed anything and decided to call them because I felt so bad for that poor driver...I felt the need to reach out to them (which I didn't have to do) when I called I asked to speak to the manager Sue... I explained to her what happened and how I was confused because via the emails and phone calls I was assured everything was fine and that I did not want our driver to get in trouble for following my itinerary . I also explained how rude and hateful the staff was...SHE DID NOT APOLOGIZE OR EVEN ACT LIKE SHE CARED! She didn't even take the time to be passive aggressive.. she was like "oh well"... there was nothing... she was cold and unapologetic. I will never return to this vineyard or purchase wine from them again which is sad because if you take away the staff and the horrible customer service provided the day of and by Sue after..it would have been a good place.

Very good.

The scenery is beautiful. The wine and food was great. Live music was a plus and the employees were great and helpful. Will definitely visit again

Raul Tovar

This was my first time to this winery and it was a blast. We sat out of the terrace and enjoyed a lovely view. They had live music which was great. The atmosphere there is very laid back. Almost like being at a family bar-b-que. We had the Classic Pizza and the Italian Trio. Both paired really well with the semi-dry red we ordered. Prices were very reasonable. I'm definitely going to visit again. I would highly recommend this to my friends.

Rachel Verano

I wish this could have been a good experience. The view at the winery is beautiful. The service is terrible. My family was there celebrating my mom's birthday. We walked in and we're ignored (compared to two Bachelorette parties). The two waiters were too busy to help. When I finally called one over I was talked back to by Bobby. I asked for a manager and he said oh he's around here somewhere. He was very rude until I called him out on it and realized I would speak with a manager. This is unacceptable.

Christian Whaley

More "commercial" than a few of the other wineries in the area. The view is nice, but I would skip out on this one unless you are trying to hit every winery in the area.

Lorrie Baron

Friendly, beautiful setting and delicious wine! Second time visiting and will absolutely make it a third.

William Tell

We had a great time in the winery, even though it was pouring outside. Was not able to go outside. The service was great, they even directed us to other wineries on 94. Wines were very good and fairly priced. Very spacious venue, lots of bar space. Only wish would be if you buy several bottles they would drop the 5 dollar tasting fee.

Darrell Coogan

A very good winery with awesome views and friendly staff,a really nice place to have a get together

Glenn Drenkhahn

Beautiful view, good wine and great staff

Honest Review

rude and rascist. as a indian, i felt very discriminated against. they should have a "whites only" sign.

Barb

We were at Montelle on Sat, 10-7 with friends. We go every year and many time buy a case which we did this year also. The grand experience each year has seemed to have ended. We have told so many people about such a great time and how wonderful the people treat you. This time we were reminded several times by the guard at the door and the tasting area server of all the rules. They have moved from excellent, friendly service for customers to rules in your face for themselves. Sad!!

Kathy W

What an amazing view! The food and wine are both delicious. The scenery is incredible and the live music on Saturday's is always quality. I can't wait to return!

Gabris Landscaping

Good vibes and great wine... ended in a dance party with some great music. i recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time

Anglisa Wilson

It was great nice view the employees nice music off the chain over all I had a wonderful time .

Pam Becker-Stehr

Beautiful view, great music, delicious treats, wonderful wines. Loved the wine samping trainer. Thank you.

Rhonda Grau

The salads and pizzas were liked by all!

Kevin Klein

Nice winery with friendly people and great views and wine.

Maddie Green

I paid about $7 for a grilled cheese meal which is really expensive considering the sandwich was small and it came with a pickle spear. Not even the full pickle. Now that would be alright if it was a good sandwich, but it tasted like it came out of a microwave. Like they toasted cheap bread in a toaster and put some cheese in it and microwaved it. But the view was good nonetheless. Just don't get their grilled cheese. Kinda upset about it.

Donna Reeves

On September 23, 2016 I attended the 7:00 sunset dinner. The main entrée was beef, but I can't eat beef. I spoke with a very nice lady (who might have been supervisor or other management type) and she was able to procure chicken for my main entrée. All my friends said the beef was excellent and be assured the chicken was absolutely delicious. I have been to Montelle Winery many times and have never been disappointed in any way. I give it 6 stars out of 5 for the great service, food and wine. Thank you to the lady, that night, and Montelle for another wonderful experience.

Christopher Vass

Stop 3 of 14 micro brewery next for lunch

Ryan Madden

Best views of the rolling hills in the area--gorgeous during fall. Unfortunately, you're not allowed to bring your own food in, so that's a bit of a deal-breaker for our crew's annual swing through Augusta wine country.

James Norberg

Felt like a truck stop inside. Our tasting server acted like he did not want to be there. The outside is lined with porta-potties. It's ashame this place has checked out as the view is amazing. I can't see myself coming back as I get 99% of the experience visiting my local gas station.

Nick Sofi

Lady that works on parking lot is lunatic without any reason and owner called caps for no reason I wouldn’t go there any more even if wine was free Plenty of other wineries around Dont go there

Mike The Soldier

Very rude and unfriendly staff!!! Avoid this place, This is disgrace...

Adam Kutell

Terrible. We visited today and I can excuse that they don't let you bring in outside food or drinks, because they need to make money somehow. But then you order food and something cold (they make you take the drinks right away) and for us the food took 45 minutes (no exaggeration) . By then the drinks are warm. We were so excited to give the place a try and buy some wine after eating, but they only left us miserable, and with disappointment and we will not be buying their wine either, let alone ever coming back or recommending the place.

Vincent Dyer

Great view!

eldina hodzic

I had reservations here a month ahead of time for a large group. When we showed up on our motorcycles two workers came out running and yelling calling us bullies and telling us to leave and that they were calling the police. We tried to politely explain that we had reservations and they didn’t wanna hear it they told us to leave. We flew all the way from Portland to spend time with our friends and we were not able to do that. Very disappointed in how we were treated, and we will never come back to this place, and neither will anything from our group of friends.

Stephanie B

HORRIBLE customer service. We went on a Sunday, the view is lovely and the wine is quite good. They close early on Sundays, and the manager Sue was going around to all the tables ten minutes prior to closure shouting "LET'S GO! LET'S GO!" in an extremely rude tone. Someone asked her why they were closing so early. She snidely said, "It's Sunday, we close early. JUST like Home Depot. JUST like Target." I can't believe how rude she was to paying customers who were just trying to enjoy their weekend. Also they had this live music that was just god awful. It was so bad that at first I thought the winery was doing karaoke, but they just kept going.....

Raymond Barnes

Simply the best and stays open later than most.

Choendal Zasaretti

We had a large party for the sunset dinner. 6 tables together but only 1 candle at the end of table. Once the sun went doe I couldn't see my meal. When we asked for additional candles we were told the only give one candle per table. But then they said they didn't have any additional candles. Food was fair. Long wait between courses.

Phillip Heslin

Beautiful scenery and excellent selection of wines! Wine tasting is free and live music on the weekends was so much fun. Cannot wait to go back.

Bob Pashos

Wonderful experience between the great wine, beautiful panoramic views, delicious food, and good service !

Valerie Shands

I just hosted a couples shower there and it was perfect. They offer 5 free tastings in their indoor tasting room. The samples were not huge, but an acceptable size. The view was gorgeous. They also had craft beers and nonalcoholic beverages available for purchase, too. We ordered two sandwich platters and a fruit platter for 13 people and had just a bit left over. The food was very good. We got there at 11 and had our pick of spots so we pushed the tables together in the covered patio area. There was live music that started at 1. Children were allowed in, but since it's a winery it's not a child friendly place.

Kristi Glass

Very rude staff. The wine is mediocre at best. And there are so many other great wineries in the area, that I have no desire to ever come back

Joshua Wilmes

I really enjoy their big deck and chill music. I am disappointed that they don't allow bus tours, even with their big parking lots.

mary ann sadler

You must try one of their Sunset Dinners. Delicious food, some of the best wine in Missouri and a view to die for as you watch the sun go down.

Jeffery Allen

Love the atmosphere great food

Leila Huskovic

One of my favorite places to go. Very relaxing and amazing views. And the road to get there is great to drive along too!

Zachary Hurst

Unfortunately we had a bad experience, specifically with a blonde woman serving tastings. She may benefit from a class in hospitality.

Tarun Singh

Great place to spend time with your loved ones. If you just want to drink a wide selection of wines and sit by a beautiful scenery, this is the place.

Jin Zou

Great wine with great views!

Larry Tucker

Greatest winery and view on the Augusta Wine Trail.

Jennifer Willis

I love this place. I can't wait to Go back. Pizza is so good. So many nice sweet delicious wines. The scenery is lovely.

jenny Kurb

Went with a group of friends that came to visit from Oregon, California, Utah , chicago .. for drinks and food - made a reservation for it a month before. We got kicked out before even coming in , because we came on motorcycles. He screamed at us for being bullies . Just to clarify we are a group of mostly couples - who like to ride on weekends. We are not affiliated with any clubs or groups . have been all over USA , including Napa valley - known for its beautiful wineries and got the royal treatment. It was such a disappointment to Get yelled out by an obviously drunk owner - he didn’t even care we had a reservation. His loss - I know I will never step into that horrible place again

Darrell Wodrich

Awesome view

Christine Pritula

Writing this review for Bobby in the tasting room! Super cute and friendly, great recommendations for wine. Wish we had cash $$$ to tip him!

Frank Markovich

Great atmosphere, great wine, scenery is awesome. The wine slushy with margherita is a bit to tart but that's ok.

Ronnie Brignac

The wine tasting was a great experience. The staff took the time to explain the details of the various wines and how theirs may differ from others. The scenery was beautiful....

Sue Savage

Pretty place, nice people, but they do allow smoking. We had to change tables a couple times to get away from the cigars and cigarettes. I doubt wellwbe back unless they change their smoking policy.

Paris Brown

A staff member offered to take a picture of my boyfriend and I as soon as I walked in the door -very courteous. The wine tasting was so much fun. The outside patio is breathtaking - I will always remember that gorgeous view. Please give this place a try, it will be worth your time. Great place for dates and family occasions! @_parisnchollephotography - please follow my IG page.

JUSTLK2011

Beautiful sunset. Good food. Horrible, horrible service!

Ben Iser

I would rate higher most likely if I hadn't gone on a Saturday. For sure try this place on a weekday. View is cool, wine is a bit fruity for my tastes. Very commercial feel/environment. When doing the tasting guy was quite affect numb aka lacking customer friendly. Wasn't rude by any means. I'll try it again because the ice wine was amazing.

Kara Leigh

Spectacular ice wine, port, chamborcin, and the best view in this wine country (without a doubt). Well worth the drive.

Amy DeLeo

We had a great time at this winery! The wine was so good and the entertainment was fun! Loved the view as well.

rich spicer

Very helpful bartender/wine server

David Fischer

Beautiful venue for lunch and relaxing with good wine on the deck

Molly Wallach

I came here last weekend, or rather tried to come here, for my bachelorette party. When my maid of honor planned this day for me, this was the one winery I requested. Never again. The parking attendant was so rude and told us we weren't allowed to go to the winery because we had arrived on a shuttle bus. We assumed he meant we weren't allowed to take the bus up to the very top and needed to walk. A few minutes after the steep walk to the top of the hill, the manager (who he had previously refused to let us speak with) came down and told our bus driver we needed to leave. When she returned to the winery, two in our group tracked her down and she decided we could stay, but didn't convey that message to her staff. The two employees who were waiting for us in the parking lot were completely awful. They basically chased us off their property. When I explained to one of them that the manager had told us we could stay, he told me i was lying. A quick phone call later, he realized he was very much in the wrong. Though at the end they all told us we were allowed to stay, I'm not sure why I would want to stay and give my buisness to someone who was so blatantly awful, not to mention promotes drunk driving. I'm not sure if this is a policy they have year round or not, because we took a bus to this same winery back in April and had no issues. Save your money and go to a different winery. We had way better luck at Chandler Hill, which despite being very crowded was over the top friendly to our large group.

Shirley Maddux

With a great group of people from Lowe's !! First time here, staff was wonderful!! Thank you!!

Adamm Hockman

A beautiful winery filled with beautiful people. They allow you to test test for free and also offer great sandwiches. But you'll come here for the view. Sit outside and look out over the gorgeous landscape of rolling hills.

Geti morina

Bikers are not welcomed at this place just so you guys know we were asked to leave even though bikes were in parking spot

stacy andrade

Montelle used to be one of my favorite places to show off to my internationals friends every time they came to visit me. I had a friend come visit me from Honduras and made reservations for the sunset dinner, the moment we got there we felt uncomfortable by the attitude of a blonde lady with glasses. We ordered our wine just like the rest of the people who were there for the sunset dinner but we were left to serve it ourselves when clearly they (the waitresses) were serving the wine for the other customers. My boyfriend told me this wasn't that big of a deal, but trust me, after seeing the servers attend the other customers with a nicer attitude it left me with a lot to think of their service. Also, its called "sunset dinner" but they sat us on the back deck were all you can see to one side is like a big conference room and to the other one a bunch of trees. NO VIEW AT ALL. Their atmosphere was dull, one of the other people that was there for the sunset dinner had to put music from his phone. Last but not least, I had ordered desserts to go with our meal but when I saw that it never came I asked for it. The server looked at me like I was dumb and tried to explain me how I had to order it online in order to get one. After explaining that I had done exactly that she mumbled something about seeing if she could get the cooks to "throw something for us." She later came with some dry cookie type of brownie thing that you could barely chew on when everybody else had had cheesecake. When I complained about the situation she blamed someone else. I'll be taking my business somewhere else, and to think that I was considering them as venue for my sisters wedding! #SHAME note for management: call me if you need help with your business, I'm a business woman and would be more than glad to give you free advice on customer service, etc.

Heather Saling

It is so beautiful and peaceful there. There is a big deck with tables and chairs that over look the country side

Jen Fyffe

First time here was almost 12 years ago for my 21st. Went back again this past weekend with a friend for her birthday (after another winery visit in the same area.) The view of the balcony is gorgeous! I love the wine sampling and 'souvenir' glass. I still have mine from all those years ago and have a new set to add. Was SO sad the dirty martini cheese wasn't a staple item that they still had these days. Nevertheless, we had a great time. (Photo cred for pic with wine glass goes to my friend Kristine!)

Ashley Allen

This is absolutely one of the most beautiful places in Missouri

N K

Definitely rude and not customer friendly at all especially the lady with the blonde hair. Very racist vibe and unwilling to accommodate.

Nice view from the large deck, but the rest of the setting was pretty sterile and business like. The building felt like a large gift shop with a wine tasting counter in the middle. The samples were served in plastic cups, and when asked about getting them in a glass the lady said that glasses are $3. No food was available, as the kitchen shut down at 3:00 that day. Wine was pretty good, but there's not a compelling reason to go back.

In addition to good wine, the view is breathtaking!! It is so relaxing to go have a tasting, glass or bottle of wine and pair with some food or just cheese and crackers. I see some bad reviews about rude people, but we didn't experience that so maybe they have corrected the situation. Don't let that stop you as the view will overcome it all.

James Willis

Every person working here was so rude. Paid $5 for a tasting, paid for a bucket of ice, can't bring in food, and they kicked everyone off two of the decks at 5pm so they could put tablecloths on the tables and charge even more to sit there to eat. Go to Balducci's down the road. Free tastings, more parking, more tables, better service. Won't be back here.

The winery is very beautiful. However, the service for dinner is horrible. For their price point, which includes gratuity the service is completely unacceptable! Montelle winery can do better...one special note, our server James in the tasting room was exceptional!

Rodney Bertsch

Always a great view and the place to be.

Jennifer Yates

This place has a beautiful view and great wine! Loved the live music and atmosphere.

We went here for my niece's 21st birthday. Some of us purchased the tasting and after buying our wine we headed outside to enjoy the view. We had been outside for about 3 minutes when the gentleman who assisted with the tasting came outside and accused us for stealing $6 from the tip jar. His name was Bobby and he was an hourly employee not a manager. They were people that came in after us but he said he was sure it was us because three of our group were a bit tipsy. So I guess if you are winery hopping you won't be tipsy. He told us he was going to call the police and check the cameras. We asked him to please check the cameras because we didnt take any money. He then proceeded to go back in the winery. One of our group went back inside and spoke to the manager Sue. Bobby was there when she talked to Sue and he said they didnt have cameras and that he didnt call the cops. He then walked away. JERK!!! I worked in the hotel industry for 12 1/2 years and you dont accuse people of stealing unless you have proof. Sue was awesome but it was embrassing for him to come out and make a scene in front of other people that there at the winery. Sue did give us a free bottle of wine but it still does not excuse the treatment we received from Bobby. I use to go here all the time and have attended a few sunset dinner but I will never spend another dime at this place. I would hope that this would discourage others from going here as well. We had a party of 5 and none of us with be returning.

The wines were delicious. We had one server who was fantastic. There was another server who was rude and standoffish who was wearing a white polo. We were a party of 4. Two wanted spirits tastings and three wanted wine tastings. There is no where on the menu or signage when you walk in stating you needed to buy tokens before your tasting. Yet when we wanted to get our tasting, the lady in the white polo directed us to get tokens before our tasting. We also weren't told they were out of the 3rd spirit before we purchased the spirit package. Had we known that beforehand, we wouldn't have purchased it. Our other server was AMAZING and extremely helpful. She had great suggestions! Again the wine is delicious we just had a bad experience with the woman in the white polo. They lost a sale due to the poor customer service from the server in the white polo.

Great view. Wine is the best in the Midwest.

Absolutely gorgeous location!

purnimadhara

Racist. Rude. Xenophobic. Unprofessional. Should have a “White Only” sign.

Kenneth Lane

A treasure we visit often. Had the vignolls and it perfectly matched the bright 60 degree afternoon.

Clay B

Tried to have a birthday party here and were not allowed to bring in party favors. Also there were no smoking signs everywhere but a lot of people smoking. There are no changing tables in the bathrooms if you bring a child.

Bud Stewart

Very nice place

We have been going to Montelle Winery for years and have never had a problem until now. Today we went with a party of 10 in a limo to celebrate a birthday and were told we had to leave because they don't allow limos to park there. Ok, that is fine, so we went down to the bottom of the drive and walked up, leaving our limo to park elsewhere. When we reached the top, we were told that we were still not allowed because we came in a limo. Meanwhile, a 15 passenger van, driven by a limo driver, was not only allowed to come up and let the people out, but also allowed to park there. We were trying to be nice and work with the man who told us we couldn't come in because the limo wasn't allowed, but he was rude and ignorant to us. A van driven by a limo driver isn't any different than coming in a limo. We were willing not to park on the lot so what was the problem? What a shame. We had other people meeting us there and we all left and went to Blumenhoff Winery instead. I guess it is nice that Montelle makes enough money to be able to turn away paying customers. Their loss. We will not be back!

Love their wine❤️

Everything about Montell is great. The staff were friendly, the Flatbread pizza was delicious, and I was able to find wines I enjoyed even though I normally dislike wine. If you like semi-sweet wines, or have struggled to find a wine you enjoy, try their fruit wines, especially the red raspberry and the blackberry.

John Thatcher

Beautiful winery. Enjoy the free tastings of very good wine as well as beautiful scenery.

Ashley

We have been going to Montelle for 3 years now and it most definitely has great wine and the best scenery BUT this year (2018), we have found that the ladies in the white montelle shirts are very rude and pushy. They give you a MAX of 5 minutes to finish your drinks and get out, and if you have to use the restroom and rest of your group is waiting for you by the gate to leave, the still come to push you out the door. I REALLY love Montelle, but customer service is key (ladies in white). We’re worried about the dangers of this being an alcohol serving business and rushing people out the door within 5 minutes without ANY exceptions. These women were really just inconsiderate. It’s unfortunate to think for these women in white to be so rude ruined it for the rest of the employees and now I will Be taking everyone to elsewhere. ...probably balducci. IF you want to bring your food to a winery that has affordable wine and has a restaurant at the winery, Balducci allows you to bring your own food.

Joyce Lewis

I enjoyed the wine, food and the atmosphere.

Andrew Peters-Realtor

Very Nice. The views are awesome!

Bruce Striler

Always a good time! Great Fall views!

Mac Clausen

I had their spiced wine and we sat on the deck. It was a while needful overall experience.

Lauren McMullan

First time to winery in Missouri! Had Bobby at the tasting counter and he was awesome! Super sweet and knowledgeable about the wines, patient and funny! Even went to the cooler to get the bottle of my favorite wine and packed it nicely for me!! Scenery is beautiful!

Gary Hurtz

Great views and wine

Gezzelle Harris

Had a great time with family at the winery. $5 tasting of 5 wines and you keep the glass! Will be back in the fall when leaves start to change colors!

Gary Shepard

Very nice seating area with great panoramic views. They are open year round. Today on a warm 55° winter day it wasn't very busy and it was quiet. Nice wine. They have cheese plates or pizzas.

Michael Potter

Fantastic time.

It's a shame really. This place had breathtaking views and decent wine but the service was pure garbage. I came with my family and we paid for wine tasting. We waited for a while. A server made eye contact several times, but we didn't get a hello or I'll be right with you, nothing. Instead he decided to serve the other guests that came after us. We got tired of waiting so we went to the other side to see if that server would at least say hello. It's not like you can't tell that someone paid for a wine tasting. They give you these green chips so that the servers know. Anyways, this server finally said hello. The other server who had ignored us took our chips and didn't ask us what we'd like to sample. Guess they don't make them wear name tags so you can't call them out on here. Makes sense, they don't have to worry if they treat you like you don't matter. Finally, when most of the other guests left they decided to start giving us samples. There are plenty of wineries in this area, their website might not be as impressive as Montelle Winery's, but you can't get worse service than this. I can't even imagine what that would look like. Save yourself some embarrassment and bring your family elsewhere.

Cynthia Myers

Montelle Winery is actually the very first winery I have ever been too. I have to say I was very impressed and pleased with the service food music and view. The servers were on top of their game. The food was absolutely fantastic at the sunset dinner and they had the perfect wine to complete the dinner. The live music was wonderful to listen to while we dined.

Russell Barclay

Beautiful view. Exacrible wine.

Keegan Squires

Montelle Winery was a great experience. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the sunset dinner was wonderful. The food was delicious, the service great, and the view like none other. The wines were very delicious and the variety was very nice! Overall, a great experience especially for a nice weekend getaway.

Scot M

The wine is great and so is the view. Staff is friendly. My only complaints are somewhat minor yet annoying. It's been years since I last visited here, but they no longer allow food or coolers to be brought here. The wine is twice as more expensive here at it's place of origin than say purchasing it at the grocery store. I have been coming here for many years and I agree with another reviewer. It has a commercial feeling to it now. Come here on a weekend and its packed. Also they have started charging 5 dollars for taste testing up to 5 selections.

Joann Darnell

Visited last year, music was great, wine is really good and so was customer service and the scenery is magical, one of my favorite wineries in Missouri.
