Great winery - good wines and beautiful grounds. Stopped by in the middle of a weekday so it wasn't very crowded, but the owners were working all over the place. They obviously keep it up themselves. Highly recommend!

Let me start by saying I’m not a wine expert. I’m more familiar with beer, nonetheless my wife and I enjoyed the wine we had and the place is beautiful. Sovereign Estate was a great place to hang out when the weather is nice. I have only two complaints. They were temporarily out of glass glasses—we were served in plastic ones, and the music playing was kind of like elevator music. Maybe we hit it at a bad time for that. I certainly recommend checking this place out.

We had a wonderful time at Sovereign Estate. The layout was beautiful, and the music was great! The placement of the tent was perfect for the musical acts. It never felt cramped or crowded on the grounds. Very nice location.

Went to the winery with my wife, my brother-in-law and his wife on Saturday. We had the Minnesota Wine Passports, and we decided to do a tour of the three wineries in Waconia. Of the three, this was our least favorite. The winery (outdoors) is beautiful, but the tasting room is pretty non-descript. The wines were ok, but nothing that stood out very much. The most annoying part of our visit was during the tasting, the person who was helping us just left and we had to get another person’s attention just to finish the tasting. We had no desire to stay for any further glasses of wine.

Came for a tasting and to check out for the first time, was told they were too busy to do a tasting. There was a fair occupation outside, but wasn’t overly crowded as we were able to walk up and find a spot easily enough. Must be doing well enough to turn people away, but we won’t be back.

We had such a wonderful time at your vineyard.Thank you and Paul for letting us take photos in your front yard, for setting up the extra coverage to keep our guests dry in case of rain, for the transportation out to the vineyard for our older guests, for the last minute lanterns out to the ball field and for an overall magnificent venue for our party. SEW was the perfect. I know Lauren and David will always think of it as the very best celebration of their lives. No one could believe the rain held off. Was that you too??

The Friends of the St Paul Chamber Orchestra planned our first benefit at Sovereign Estate Winery held on October 1st, 2016. Terri, the estate's general manager, coordinated an evening in their large tent, complete with linens and sparkling chandeliers. A star quartet from the SPCO played while the winery's head chef prepared and served appetizersto pair with 5 specific wines made by Sovereign Estate. Very tasty! My favorites were the 2015 Marquette, the 2015 Frotenac Blanc and the 2015 Seyval Blanc. Lastly, a delicious assortment of desserts from Deco was served with a lovely pairing of the St Therese Rose'. The evening was truly magical. Sovereign Estate sits at the edge of the Lake overlooking their vineyards. The gardens and grounds are beautiful to wander and have a picnic and the tasting room is a great place to hang out for a tasting and cheese board. Highly recommend.

Cannot say enough incredible things about Sovereign Estate. We have visited many times, and fell in love with the wine, scenery by the lake, atmosphere, and the people and great staff here. So much so we decided to have our wedding reception here... and plan it in less than 6 weeks! There was no other place that could have held such an incredible, seamless, and detailed event in such little time. They provided the most amazing wedding planner, award winning wine, a chef whose food our guests still talk about, gorgeous decor and table settings, and accommodated us with absolutely anything we needed help with. Planning a wedding in 6 weeks is not the easiest, but the owner and wedding planner guided us along and helped make the right decision in every. Whether it is an event or a day/night out, I cannot recommend Sovereign more!

WE LOVE this place! My husband and I came out to Sovereign Estate Winery and had the nicest time. We did a wine tasting, and loved all the wines! The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. After the tasting we had a bottle of wine and spent all afternoon sitting out on the patio, enjoying the beautiful day and views! Lovely winery. Great wine, food, and location :) We will definitely be back!

I was lucky enough to have my dream wedding at Sovereign Estate Wine in May 2017. It was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better experience as a bride. I've been a huge admirer of the property, the views say it all. However, there are few places that the beauty of the location match the quality of the product. The wine is fantastic with such a variety for all levels of wine drinkers (there's even beer for the less wine-enthused). Whether you're hosting a private event like a wedding, or simply enjoying a Sunday afternoon, this place is a relaxing getaway from the cities with unpaired customer service, stunning views of Lake Waconia, and of course, delightful wine! I recommend the TENUTA DI SOVRANO and TALON CREST, and even better, joining the "Royal Case Club" - so many deals and special events.

My wife and I did a wine tasting tour in the Waconia, Minnesota, area the weekend before Christmas and one of the wineries we visited was The Winery at Sovereign Estates. It was dark when we arrived, but it was lit up with many Christmas lights and displays...it definitely felt festive. I especially like the weeping willow tree with the hanging strands of lights. Once inside, we found a spot to sit and relax with our wine or, in my case, mulled wine, it was warm and delicious. As we were sitting there, we started chatting with the worker behind the counter only to find out she and her husband are the owners, Paul and Terri Savaryn. Both are very pleasant and friendly, felt welcomed the moment we sat down. We are already planning our next visit to Sovereign Estates, especially when their ice wine is ready...my favorite of all wines.

We were there for the first time this weekend for the Christmas lights. For the price of entry, I think it would have been nice to include a hot chocolate, coffee, or even a s’more, instead of having to pay extra. Brews were suggested at entry. It would have been great to be able to sample the new brew without having to buy, like we can do at the actual brewery. My husband was told that he could get a sample of something as long as he bought a pint. He only wanted a sample of the new brew to see if he wanted that. Maps should have been at an easy accessible location. People were asking me what I had and where I got my map. It would be nice to have suggested walking paths lit with solar lights for people that have never been there before. We weren’t sure if we were supposed to cut across, go around, or what. Plus, the lawn was rutty, and for people that don’t have great balance, that probably wasn’t the best choice. The lights were very pretty, and I really enjoyed looking at them. Most of them you could see from far away, or across the lake. The winery itself seems awesome, the land is beautiful. My comments are for the event itself.

Makes for a great date destination or enjoy a relaxing getaway where it feels like you are remote, but only a short drive out of the city. Highly recommend it!

We found this hidden treasure this past spring. We live in the north metro but it is well worth the drive. I bet we have been out there 10 times already with a few more trips planned for this fall. My wife loves their wine so much, we joined their wine club and get excited when the new releases come out. SEW is so much more than wine though...the beautiful setting just off the lake, the food has always been great (try the Cheese Board). We really have enjoyed the music out there on weekends. We bought season tickets to their summer concert series. I recently found out that the winery runs off a solar energy system. Great people, beautiful setting, fantastic food, refreshing wine and good for the planet...Sovereign Estates is a no brain for our free time!

Top notch experience. Hosted our company picnic here and it was a perfect afternoon. Plenty of different activities (kickball, bean bag toss, vine yard tours, campfire & frisbee golf to name a few) for a range of interests and an equally varied number of wine selections. I recently went to an event where Sovereign Estates had a tasting table available. From what I gathered it was the owners who were working the booth, and I have to say the service was not very good. We were shunned after tasting one of the wines and they seemed very disinterested in conversing with those to came by. When I passed by the table again later, there was a line of people and only one of the three people working was helping anyone...the other two stood by on their phones, completely uninterested in helping people. I had planned to go to this winery in the near future, but will choose to go to other places after this experience.

My husband and I almost went back to parley lake winery with the confusing signage on the road. Alas, we found the Sovereign estate. With 5 generous pours during wine tasting we delighted in banter and had a great time.

The grounds are beautiful, the people are not friendly, do not go here when they have a themed weekend/event. We were a party of four, two non-drinkers, and we were forced to pay the cover charge for everyone, on top of that, additional cost for tastings. Apparently there was supposed to be live music, nope. Employees demanded to see your wrist band and made you feel uncomfortable. We received cheap plastic wine glasses, bright cheesy wrist bands and a bad taste in our mouth from the unfriendly attitude. We do not recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fun & happy time. We had a veteran with us, he was charged. We were indeed "forced" to purchase bands by the man at check in, and he wasn't too friendly about it. We asked if we could purchase them for the only two that were tasting. We NEVER had our ID verified. Then we were rudely asked by each employee if we had our bands, bright pink is hard to miss. Gravely dissapointed & dissatisfied with the customer service.

Wines were tasty Location is beautiful. The tasting was informative, however, they only offer tastings on the half hour and do group tastings. If you arrive at 1:15 you stand around for 15 minutes waiting for the next tasting. We bought several bottles but unfortunately our Marquette has sediment and the cork was crystallized and difficult to uncork. All in all would probably stop back if we were in the area.

Our first time to Sovereign Estate was for a JDRF fundraiser. i purchased a table for 8 and invited 3 other couples along to the event. Let's be honest, most grapes grown in the upper Midwest produce wines that are just so-so at best. Sovereign Estate Wines are award-winning and would compare favorably with wines from anywhere. I own my restaurant and serve a lot of French, Italian, Spanish and local wines, but I must say I would love to offer Sovereign Estate Wines on my wine menu. Wow! We had an absolute blast last Saturday night. We had a private wine dinner for my book club and our husbands for Christmas. We got to pick out the menu ahead and had our own private dining space in "the bride's room". We started the evening in the bar with special cocktails. I had a blood orange martini that was to die for! All 5 courses of our prime rib dinner were outstanding. It was especially fun having Chef Ben come out and share about each course and the wine served with each. Owners Terri & Paul shared too. Very fun to hear the stories behind this beautiful property! Cheryl was great to work with coordinating the event. It was very personal to all of us and will be a great memory for our book club, that has been together almost 20 years. Cheers!

I would like to start by saying how BEAUTIFUL this vineyard is, and how kind and accommodating most staff members are. I had my bridal shower there this Saturday! Every staff member, excluding the manager, was incredibly friendly and helpful. Three staff members come to mind in particular, and I wish I knew their names so I could give them a proper thank you, because they were amazing! The bartender was a 20 something male who was friendly and went out of his way to make us feel taken care of and important. He said he was not a regular employee, and was just filling in for the day. Our main staff person was a beautiful (also 20 something) blonde woman with a charming accent. She was very attentive and helped us immensely. Finally, there was a wonderful older gentleman who looked like he was the chef. He was vivacious, friendly, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He made our event special and fun, and his warm personality was the highlight of our day at the winery. That being said, the manager, Terri, was close to impossible to work with. She was our main contact leading up to the event, and honestly.... if we hadn't already paid the deposit and sent out the invitations, we would have chosen one of the many other vineyards in the area for our party. She was cold, condescending, and incompetent. She was rude... often going back on her word and making us feel like we were the ones in the wrong. It was a very uncomfortable environment when we knew she was in the proximity. Some specific issues we had included misinformation regarding the drink minimum, as well as not providing a cash bartender last minute and then changing expectations the day of the event. We paid $500 (JUST for the use of the room) and she refused to give us the wi-fi password so we could play our music playlist. She did not do anything particularly horrible, but her customer service was horrendous, and left a lot to be desired (especially from someone in the service industry.) All in all, our event turned out to be wonderful, but I would not recommend this venue to anyone, due to the hassle (and tremendous expense!) with poor follow through and the uncomfortable environment created by the manager. This was my very favorite winery before planning my event (which is why I wanted my event here) and was unfortunately incredibly disappointed and embarrassed for requesting the venue of my bridesmaids. I would caution anyone to hesitate before booking an event here.

We recently attended a concert/benefit at Sovereign Estates Winery and it was a wonderful evening start to finish. The wine was wonderful, they had craft and light beer for those who preferred it, non-alcoholic options, great food AND excellent music (look at their calendar with more great performers coming up). The venue is small so I didn't see a bad seat in the house! I know they don't control the weather, but that was wonderful too! Last but not least, they had an area set up to benefit a charity..they took donations but it was low-key pressure and also had some very cool items to bid on/win and other items to buy. Beautiful location, setting and experience...a feel-good evening all around. Headed back soon..

Was conflicted on what rating to give Sovereign Estate. I have been here before during the summer time, and enjoyed beer, wine, and had a relaxing time. Worth the 5 stars. Myself, and fiancee went to The Spirit of Winter Festival. By reading the descriptions I thought that it would be a great event to go to. We went in the beginning of December on a weekend. Weather wasn't too bad. When you pulled in they had the radio station number to turn into so you can listen to the music synced up with the lights. Well, station barely came in. Also the drive from the entry to where we parked really didn't have a lot going on. Walking around I just felt like something was off at some of the locations to go look at. The outdoor patio by the main building was awesome. Bonfires, and heaters going, Christmas music playing, or a choir all dressed up singing made it feel little bit more like Christmas. Bonfire area was nice, but other than that it really wasn't what I expected. I know this was their first year putting this on, but I guess that is what it felt and looked like, was something in its first year. I guess I was just expecting more attractions, and the attractions that were there I was expecting more to them as well. Overall we are still going to plan on making it this year, and hope more will be added to the attraction. Still getting 5 stars, and looking forward to coming back in December!

I would have to say they have easily moved to near the top of the ratings for us. There are two other wineries we also like to frequent, so this is a welcome addition. We will return! The Sauvignon Blanc and the Tenuta were our favorites. To win an award for your wine from over 500 entries puts in question the credibility of the alleged sommelier that did not have a good experience. We are not wine snobs by any means, just people who have enjoyed dozens of wineries from all over the country in the last 30 years and prefer to find diamonds in the rough locally. Well done!

We were there about 2 years ago for the progressive dinner with the 2 other Waconia wineries. We were sitting in the dining area, the owner walked thru and greeted everyone but us. We were sitting right by the door, he passed us twice. Not even a glance. They are pompous. Not sure if they've changed their wine tasting scenario, but we had to wait for a time slot and we were treated like we've never tasted wine before. (This was on a previous visit) and their wine isn't anything to write home about. Lots of sediment in the wine and also quite expensive.

I bought a group of tickets for the light show...on the day we were supposed to go they closed and somehow I did not get the message. Anyway, I let them know that I was displeased . It seems they are going to be accommodating...I am supposed to get a gift card in the mail and will rate again after we visit the winery

I visited on a Sunday and I was glad to find it fairly slow since I wanted to try many of their wines and talk to them about their vast variety. I liked every one of the ten I tasted (I asked for small pours:)). Staff were all very accommodating and knowledgeable as well. The only thing I could see being an issue is when it's busy because they serve their tastings one after the other at the bar so you have to go up each time you're ready for your next taste. I had no problems though since the staff were attentive and it wasn't too busy. After my tasting I ordered the Incredible Dip and it was incredible just as described! I left with a bottle of their 2015 Marquette...very yummy! Check this place out if you're in the area. They're open year-round too!!

The Winery grounds were beautiful and relaxing but it didn't make sense to charge guests an extra 5 dollars per person to pay for live music costs when the band didn't start until 6 pm and we arrived at 1 pm. They should have charged the extra rate an hour before and while the live music was being performed.

Beautiful property with views of Lake Waconia in the distance, flowers and plantings everywhere, fabulous wines (the Frontenac Blanc is my new favorite). We have loved the summer concert series with outdoor music this year. Creative events and always good, fresh food from a variety of local vendors. We've also attended smaller parties here, which have been fabulous. It's a great venue for gatherings large or small, and would be an exceptional place to get married or have a birthday party.

Very underwhelming as a light viewing experience. I could've driven through a neighborhood and had the same experience. Not at all worth the entry fee especially since no one checked a ticket or gave any direction. I could have just drove in and not had a ticket and saved the money. This should have been a free event to attract people to the location and buy the drinks and food.

The whole staff is amazing, we're wine club members here and love every wine we've had. Out of all the wineries we've been to so far, this place has the best wine by far!!

We have hosted a wedding reception and retirement party at Sovereign's, held our book club meetings there, attended concerts, and just stopped by for a delicious glass of wine (Cameo Rose is my favorite!) or craft beer. We love everything about this beautiful vineyard and have had excellent experiences every time. The owners, the service, the wine and food are all wonderful. I highly recommend it!

We had an excellent, informative wine tasting. They use estate grown, local, and out of state grapes to make complex and interesting wines. The Marquette, estate grown grapes, is a complex and delicious red. Try a cheese plate or chili while sipping wine on their patio. They also have local beer on tap if you are friend with non-wine drinkers. A must visit.

Super friendly, lots of award winning wines. Amazing pavillion and great live music events. Excellent for large groups and food is diverse and vegetarian friendly. This place has been expanding too. Worth checking out and it is on the bike path.

Only been here a couple of times but really enjoyed the visit. Saw Guy from Survivor sing Eye of The Tiger. Very intimate setting and really a fun time. Played some disc golf with the kids - very kid friendly.

My husband and I have been to Sovereign Estates for several different events, and just for some afternoons. All were fantastic. The winery is great, the staff and owners are terrific, and the events are nicely organized. Our favorite wine is Talon Crest. I highly recommend visiting if you get a chance.
