REVIEWS OF Spoke Wine Bar IN Massachusetts

Magali Neave

Agreed with the other reviews ! What makes this place is the cosy cool atmosphere. The food is intriguing and well balanced and the service was swift and delightful. I recommend & will return !

Matt Cordaro

Excellent, highly attentive but not pushy service + surprisingly creative and flavorful dishes. Not to mention, fantastic and clever cocktails. We’ll be back for sure!

Dylan Polin

Literally everything we had here was amazing. We only meant to stop for a drink and snack but kept ordering because it was all perfect. The service was amazing, wines were great and the food - I am still dreaming about. If you are thinking of going here just do it!

Matthew Wolfer

Great date spot. Incredible food, great wine selection, very knowledgeable and attentive staff.

Justin kim

The wine here is delightful and the pour size was very fair. Some negative reviews on the wine portions turned me off, but I had no such issue on my visit. Reservations are necessary for prime time hours, but my group snagged a 4-person table on Saturday after 6pm without one. The bar seating is always an option for those without reservations. The food is small plates style and very decadent. Try the raw wagyu beef and the cheese board! Price only gets high if you come really hungry; otherwise, its reasonable.

Spoke isn’t just a wine bar. The cocktails are perfect and the food delicious. Service was incredibly friendly.

Limited menu but delish

Jack Prior

Fantastic rotating wine selection, great small plates. The owner is knowledgeable and friendly, always makes us feel like we're home.

Zeph

Amazing food, drinks, and service!

Emily L

My only complaint is that they appear to have gendered single occupancy restrooms. Everything else about this place was amazing. It wasn't too loud. There were no TV screens to distract me. The service checked in often, were helpful and polite and knowledgeable and efficient. The cocktails were delicious (they have a flip on the menu!) , the desserts divine, the plates well presented and full of tasty and interesting food. There was no pressure to leave once we'd finished our meal (a somewhat busy Thursday night, but most people had left by 10.)

nubs

Has the best beef tartar I've ever tasted. LOL

Corey Adams

Super relaxed atmosphere. Great cocktails. Stellar wine selection.

Pywaket Pilot

Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. Excellent food and drinks. Servers help you find the best combinations of food, and wine based on your preferences. When I go in, I ask what the server would recommend, based on often vaguely expressed preferences. They do a great job. And they don't just suggest the most expensive thing on the menu - they spend the time to figure out what will make you most satisfied. I love this place. Not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. Plus, frequently, the kitchen/chefs will send out free complimentary dishes that they think wil enhance your experience, gratis. Simply the best restaurant in the area, and that's still considering the high level of competition and excellent places to dine out to in Davis Square. I would give them 10 Stars if it was possible...

Margot Sigur

A really interesting menu and the food is so good! Everything was great, but the olive oil ice cream really stood out. It might sound weird but it was amazing!

Sam Palmer

Everything I ate and drank was absolutely amazing! Attention to detail is evident across the board. The cocktails were my favorite, make sure to mix it up and get a few different drinks. There were so many different unique flavors hiding in each drink. The staff was great, they were friendly and knowledgeable. My visit was more of an experience than just a night out to eat.

Matty Stevenson

One of the best spots in Davis Sq. Superb wine and cocktail list and I'm always blown away by the food. Service is always top notch. Love this place!

Claude Miron

Great food, service, atmosphere and of course wine. Highly recommend.

Jenna Levy

The food at Spoke is great. However the restaurant is tiny with an open kitchen and the two times I've been there I left reeking of oil and food. It's taken days to get the smell out and I needed to wash all my clothes. They need better ventilation!

Amanda Wimble

I went here for the first time last weekend and loved it. Its VERY small/narrow and as wine bars tend to be, its pricey. But the food is outstanding. The waitress knew more about the wine list than any restaurant I've ever been to. She did a great job, I wish more restaurants had someone that was that knowledgable. The olives are AMAZING. Like, lemony and salty and fantastic. We shared the cheese plate which was also out of this world. The duck meatballs were so good and even though it didn't feel like a lot of food, I was full. The chocolate dessert was a little misleading, it was more of a fudge than a cake. Then we got a few pieces of complementary fudge with our check, I wish we'd skipped the dessert or picked a different one. All and all, if you can get a seat or make reservation, I'd stay all night and keep trying things. Then cry the next day when you remember how much you now owe your credit card company.

Leon Morales-Quezada

Amazing food and the wine selection is well balanced for the food on the menu.

Justin St. Marie

Cozy, comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and good food. When I lived in Davis square, this was one of my usual spots.

Kurt Jacobson

Small plates with big flavors. Lovely wine bar, probably the best sophisticated date spot in Davis Square. But cheap it ain't - especially if you drink wine like I do ;) I love spontaneously popping in there for a quick drink and small plate. Super glad they re-opened!

Shelby Stack Quinn

Good cocktails - love the rye flip. Pricey - expect to spend 12 -14 on a drink. I wouldn't recommend eating dinner here, but it's a very romantic spot for a couple drinks. The waitstaff and bartender are very knowledgeable.

Angela DeCarlis

Totally devastated that this place is closed for good. I only managed to make it there once, but would kill to have cocktails there again.

Sean Horgan

Our favourite restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, intriguing menu, and perfectly paired drinks.

Brian Watson

Love this place! Very cozy and romantic, perfect for a date. Wine selection was incredible. Food is tasty small plates great for sharing. Dessert was lackluster however.

Elizabeth LeBlanc

Really great staff. Space is clean and bright (but not offensively bright). Outdoor seating is prime for people watching. Great wine selection.

Laura Sternberg

Best meal I've had since moving to the area. Probably in the top 3 meals of my life. Food is STELLAR. Ambiance is casual intimate. I can't wait to go back!

Gregory Merchel

We were not impressed with the food. It’s very expensive and was pretty mediocre. The burrata did not come with anything to eat it with, pork was fairly bland, charcuterie was also not much to write home about. Staff is friendly and great drink menu so I suggest to do drinks only. Overall was very expensive meal to leave unsatisfied and hungry.

Ana Cecilia

Why is this place not a Michelin-star rated restaurant? We just came back from Mirazur in Menton (France), and there is nothing that Spoke has to envy them for. Every plate was exquisite ( we had half of the plates from the menu), and the …

Max Bulger

Mary and Ethan plus Eric Frier's unreal food. Can you really go wrong? The answer is no. Intimate, unpretentious atmosphere and spectacular wine, cocktails, beer, hospitality at its finest. Just go.

Nick Dubrule

Exceptionally delicious food from a tiny kitchen (that probably requires more ventilation) with a warm and intimate atmosphere. Popular and very good

Karl Schultz

Perfect cozy size, great service, great wine. Small plates are phenomenal, and live up to their price. Edit: I feel like it's not the same since reopening. Service has been poor, and the food and drinks are good but can't make up for lack of service at this price point. There are a dozen places in Davis which are better.

Jeff A

Great little spot

Kyle Monahan

A wonderful wine bar. Expensive (for a graduate student) but with great atmosphere and selection. Try their aperitif selection!

skye lar

A fun, cozy, and inventive spot for small plates and drinks. Staff is really knowledgable about the wines, as well as the everchanging and highly seasonal menu items. They've poured wines for me to try, and whisked away glasses that I didn't like without a second thought. The burrata was so good, my boyfriend and I ordered a second one. Though a touch pricey, this place is definitely a regular spot for me in Davis for a late night glass of wine and a bite.

Matthew Tung

Servers were very knowledgeable and EVERY dish we tried was amazing

Sami Alajaji

We stopped by for desserts, while the options are limited they were all delish!

Sean Ginevan

Good wine list with knowledgeable staff. Food is a bit odd but what I had was tasty.

Paradox Buster

Love this place. When I moved to Boston, I was looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing spot to replace my old hang out from my previous city. Spoke hit the nail on the head! Beautiful aesthetic, wonderful people, delicious (small) plates (sort …

Hidden gem is Davis square. Great food, knowledgeable staff and great atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

David Gillman

The bass tartare was excelllent. The marinated bok choy was very good. The dessert, salted chocolate cream with vanilla Cynar ice cream and birch root slivers, was just fantastic. The service is friendly, efficient, and understated.

Madeline Dahl

I had family in town and we were in the mood to chat, relax, and enjoy some wine together, so we decided to check out Spoke. Cozy but comfortable space that they have really maximized with some thoughtful interior design and gorgeous floral wall paper. Definitely most conducive to more intimate groups or duos. We tried a couple of the white wines as well as a round of Aperol Spritzes. Our waiter was more than happy to discuss the menu with us as well as a few events they had coming up. The paper menu as well as the handwritten menu on the blackboard conveyed a similar vibe- the people here really seem to care about sharing the wines they are excited about. Opted not to eat there because the menu is a bit indulgent, but looking forward to treating myself to a couple of their plates someday!

David Zabner

Delicious food, delicious cocktails. Unpretentious and well presented. Loved it

Philip Crean

Great eats!

Carrie Liken

Fun and funky. Great wine selection and excellent small plates for sharing. This place is like a little gem in Davis Square and definitely a place I will frequent often.

Diane Souza

Smoked bean dip and toasty was tasty. Good wine selection.

Laxman Kattel

Nice Bar!

Hadrien Dykiel

Very creative and flavorful dishes. One of my favorite restaurants of all time.

Vasily Rassokhin

Good vibes but didn't have one belgian beer type they advertised to have.

Alessandro Bahgat

Went there a couple of times. In both cases we ordered a gold number of small plates to share and we weren't disappointed: most plates have something uncommon that makes them worth trying.

Nicolas Warren

Lovely date spot. 1.5 plates per person is a good rule.

Maggie Jackson

Grwat small plates, great wine selection, sone interesting beers on tap. Love this place for dates, girls' night, or just a weeknight treat.

Joe Rancatore

This is my go to place for friends; centrally located for those from the West, conveniently located for the city people. And it never fails to impressed. Starts with staff, from the hostess, to the server, and a shout out to the kitchen! I never even look at a menu, I just let my friends order. And we go at a pace that agrees with friends; slow to start. Glass of wine, which staff matches to mood, or food, or whatever. . . Or they order many small dishes, with a drink, and the conversation commences. It’s a secret place, THAT shouldn’t be. Go!

Sam Feldman

Hidden just outside of Davis Square is this wonderful wine bar. Its knowledgeable bar staff will help you navigate their comprehensive wine list. Meanwhile their little kitchen will fill you with tasty dishes. While we were only here for drinks we really enjoyed the sparkling wine the bartender recommended and the plate of cheeses. For the time there we felt transported, only to discover that we were still in Davis when we emerged.

Amanda Taveras

Spoke is one of the quaintest coziest and unique places I have been to in Boston! The small plates are always changing and you can tell that they are well planned out and extremely creative! The bartender Katie is the best in Boston! She …

Jennifer Kelly

Really great food and wine experience. Looking forward to going back.

Alex Simmons

Great wine. Friendly serve. Interesting dishes. A lot to like about this spot!

Rob Allen

The hardest part of ordering at Spoke is limiting yourself to the 5 or 6 plates you and your companion will be able to eat. Each dish on the menu tantalizes in its own way and were I able to get them all I probably would. Fortunately, after you have wolfed down the Duck-fat Meatballs, Strawberry Salad, what-ever-that-day's-special-is and 4 (gulp) other plates of awesome you can acquaint yourself with a nice Amari to settle your stomach and prepare for dessert

Erik Nygren

With amazing small-plate food and cocktails, Spoke is our favorite go to date-night restaurant. We are so glad they reopened and retained the wonderful food, drink, and atmosphere. The menu also changes frequently to use fresh seasonal ingredients.

Amy R. Sterling

Yum! Great food though the husband did not like the prices. Whatever eat and be merry!

Jay Sekora

Oh, wow, this place is amazing, and the service is exceptional! Expensive, but worth it at twice the price!

Tucker Pforzheimer

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Chef Eric's menu is flawlessly balanced and the textures and flavors inspired along with a late-meal Gravonia. Felt like we were being treated to a dinner party in our own home. Can't wait to go back; worth the trip out to Davis from the Vineyard

Valdir Pereira

Amazing place to enjoy. Food is good, drinks, really a good place.

Sheraz Choudhary

I love Spoke. The space, food and the drinks are incredible!!! So sad that this gem will be closing this December 2016 :-( Only critique is that your clothes will smell of food when you leave.

Thomas McQuade

the food was sub par for the price wih very few choices.

Jefferson Stewart

New favorite. It's fine dining meets the warmth of a family affair and completely reasonable treat. Brilliant array of flavors and dishes -- it's set up like a wine tapas, but easily could be a pre fix tasting menu by quality and attention to detail. Highly recommended, and for the quality it is a steal. Closer to Boston prices would double for this experience. Cocktails are delightful. If you are a mescal drinker these are the best I had had outside of my home Austin TX. The staff is top notch -- will pamper you if you want it (I do), but will stay out of your hair if that's what you prefer (my girlfriend does). Molly and John run the place and are doing a fantastic job. Oh and the chocolate pudding mint / coriander thing should be illegal. AMAZING. It's a Boston foodie must.

Catherine Vasquez

Very nice tapas style/ share plates restaurant. We had almost everything in the menu and it was great. Good spot for a date!

Steve S

I've been going here for years. New owners, same vibe, but what's up with the bartenders. They now pour the shortest glass of wine anywhere. It seems you now get 1/2 as much as before or at most other places. I returned a second time to see if it was me, but nope, another short pour again last night. I'd prefer they'd raise their price and pour a normal "glass" of wine. Christ, you take a sip and the glass is almost empty. Not cool. The first time I went with the new ownership in place, I was so surprised, I thought they emptied the bottle and were going to get another one to finish the pour. Then when they didn't come back I looked around to notice that everybody was getting what I consider a short pour. I've been frequenting wine bars for over 30 years. This is definitely the shortest pour I've even gotten. I don't like to post negative reviews, this may be my first, but this was earned. Sadly. I won't be returning.

Laird Nolan

Great tastes! Friendly attentive staff.

Rick Oxner

Wow!! I can't say enough about the experience tonight at this restaurant/wine bar. This was probably one of the best meals EVER!! Seriously! I know, I know, small plate and all, but that is the best, being able to try so many different items and have your taste buds awakened and energized for the next bite or selection. From the pork bellies to the radishes to the sunchokes and wagyu tartare, and beyond, wow!! Thanks for an outstanding evening and enlightening conversation with the owner of this fine establishment. We will be back!!

Paul

Classy cocktail bar that would make for a perfect first date.

Mark Rowan

Tasty burrata dish. Good wine list and a knowledgeable bar staff. Will be returning!

Vallente Romasanta

One of my fave Boston area restaurants. I love that they have orange wine.

Beyonder Domela

Hyper-classy wine bar. So happy it's back open again. It may be hard to get in but it's worth the wait. Food portions are small but have a high quality level to make that acceptable. Staff are all super friendly and match their attentiveness to your needs very well. This is worth your time in Davis.

Jason Merrill

Everything here is fantastic.

Jean Carroon

Amazing food. Ceative small plates. Top notch service. Great drinks. Bar seating doesnt require reservations and is often available when tables are full. We love this place! Easy walk from Davis Square station.
