I had an exceptional experience! First, I was 30 mins early for my appointment and I was greeted with warmth. My friend and I walked around shopping for dresses and about 15 mins in, a manager checked on is and held my dresses aside for me to have when my appointment started. A few factors caused me to go into this appointment with some nerves. For one, I'm a plus size bride and two I am getting married for the second time with a small budget. My consultant, Lauren Ward, was simply wonderful when given all of this information. Not once did I feel I was any less deserving of a wonderful experience and beautiful dress. She did amazing with picks and was able to grasp my vision quickly. Thank you, Lauren, for helping me find my perfect dress!

I had four appointments total at David's Bridal in South Portland for my wedding dress. The first two appointments I spent trying on dresses and the next two for alterations. All of the staff were so friendly and great to work with. They all made this first and once in a lifetime experience wonderful. I went to two other bridal stores in Maine in between my appointments with David's Bridal. Mostly to see other collections that were offered so I knew when I chose the dress I had done my research and it would be the one. David's Bridal definitely has a great selection compared to some other places, they were able to get my dress in a lot more quickly, prices were reasonable, my alterations came out amazing (including having a part of a strap sewn into the front area to create a little more modest comfort for me, which worked perfectly) and their staff are by far pleasant and enjoyable to work with. I would highly recommend for wedding dresses and alterations. Thank you again David's Bridal.

First, I did find my dress. It's beautiful, and not exactly what I was expecting to like. My consultant did quite well watching my reactions, and listening to my criticisms and preferences in order to find the right gown. We tried on about 6 before finding the right one. With that being said, it was so busy in the store, it felt like we were competing for our own space. My 3 bridesmaids and mother-in-law had to stand the whole time because another family took all of our chairs. The consultant said she would go search for more, but they never showed. I also didn't like that there were no robes or anything to cover up with. The doors opened outward instead of in, so I had to hide behind a dress for privacy while in my underwear. But the sales and lower retail prices can't be beat for a bride on a budget, and someone from alterations was right there to answer questions. I would recommend going first thing in the morning, or avoid school break when people are shopping for prom.

I wish I had been aware of just how many people would be there. I had made an appointment and traveled over 2 hours for the appointment. My wedding is just over 3 months away so it limited my options with a lot of local shops that take 6 to 8 months to get the dress. You start by trying to browse the racks and select things you like but it is super hard to see what the shape of a dress is when it is just hanging in a bag. There were over 12 chairs lined up all filled with other people’s family. The dressing rooms were all lined up so it didn’t feel like it was private at all. I felt like I was awkwardly stepping out in front of strangers which is very uncomfortable. I bought a dress I could take home thinking ok I have a dress and it fits. It wasn’t really what I wanted but again so much going on it was hard to communicate. I have had the dress a week and just bought a new one today when I went to get my bridesmaids dresses. The original one just didn’t make me feel beautiful.

We worked with Jean, who was helpful and pleasant. Shelly also worked with us quite a bit - she was fun and made us feel like we were something special! ;) The checkout process was a little cumbersome...but all in all, it was a great experience. My only "negative" feedback would be to suggest that, if you are a sales person (or anyone else employed by DB for that matter), that if I ask a simple question...you don't defer it to someone else simply because you work by "commission". One of the girls actually brushed me off when I asked a simple question... and said "we work by commission - I will go find your person".

After trying on about 6 or 7 dresses, there was one that had struck my group the most. I got Nora for my consultant to find me my dress. Little did I know Nora was just an extra helping hand as it was a busy day in the store. She normally doesn’t get to work with any of the brides by herself. After trying on all the options I had to choose from I didn’t think I was going to leave with a dress. My bridesmaids tried on their dresses which gave me time to think about my decision. Nora fit so well with my group that she felt apart of my group! As I was getting ready to leave, I knew I couldn’t leave without that dress! Karen in alterations at the South Portland Maine location made this nervous first time bride feel really comfortable and confident in her skills. She was patient, very personable, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable. Unfortunately whoever then did the alterations did not do a good nor thorough job the first time, most of the things we talked about never got done. Then I sent it back to have it done again and nothing changed still. I ended up having to hold my dress up all night at my wedding . Extremely disappointed and would never recommend them.

The experience myself, the bride, and the other bridesmaid had was fantastic today in the Portland, ME David's Bridal while trying on bridesmaids dresses. Our consultant Lauren W. was extremely helpful. Running back and forth getting different sizes, styles, and belts for our dresses. She gave her opinion when we asked, and was overall extremely sweet. Portland David's Bridal is lucky to have such a hard working consultant. All staff in the store was friendly, helpful, and the dress selection was better than expected!

My consultant Beyonce, was very kind and professional, so this rating is not reflective of her performance at all. She would get 5 stars. Give her a promotion and a raise. I didn't have an idea of what I wanted, but I did have an open mind and was willing to try on whatever was presented to me. However, we were put in a room right next to another party of women (we were the only two parties in the entire store) and every time I came out to show my family a dress, I would either be completely cut off by another consultant or two walking on their way over to the party next to us, or I would be standing there in front of my family with the other party gawking at me the entire time and making comments to themselves. At one point, the other bride and I came out at the same time and someone in her party was sure to yell "Oh! Well you're definitely the prettiest bride in the room!" Again, I do appreciate the work of my consultant, and she did let us change rooms when I eventually noticed the completely empty other side of the dressing area, and obviously the other party being rude is out of the staff's control, but the other staff members were QUITE rude and pretty unprofessional (completely interrupting our party every single time instead of simply walking around us) and the entire experience was quite awful so I can honestly say I will never recommend David's Bridal to any of my friends or family.

I'm from Texas up in Maine without my mom. I came into the store alone and they went above and beyond. I had a week before the wedding. James helped me with the dress very understanding and helpful. Shelly helped with hemming and took pictures spoke to my mom and helped me feel like my mom was with me in person. The manager of this store is fantastic. I don't know her name but I can not thank her enough for what she did to help with my deadline!. This store came to my rescue and very greatfull!!

I found the perfect dress! Mackenzie was great — fun to be around, helpful, and patient with me and my wedding party during our shopping experience! The only downfall was in alterations. My first fitting was long but went well, Kasey was friendly and helpful while pinning my dress, but my first alteration came out awful! And the alteration prices — yikes! I felt blindsided! However, after my second fitting, they were happy to re-pin and re-alter my dress to fix what they agreed was a terrible job. The woman who did both my second and my final fitting was pleasant and she saved my dress!!! She said she would sew it herself to make sure it was perfect. Overall, I’m a happy bride with 5 happy ladies in my bridal party!

I have a very formal wedding I am going to at the end of April and I have been to a few stores, but if you're over a size 18, most places only have tent-like dresses. I've never needed a formal dress but I'm a 20 and I hadn't been able to find anything I liked. I called David's Bridal to see if they actually carried plus sizes in stock and I wouldn't have to order things in prior to trying them on. They told me they carried up to size 30+ in stock. I was really happy and asked if I needed an appointment. I was told if I was coming in the middle of the week, during the day, not really, but any other time I would. I came in the next day at 3 PM without an appointment and they were able to get Allison to help me right away. Allison was amazing! She listened to my concerns about my size and making sure it fit me right. I was really impressed with the selection range for larger sizes. She helped me with the dress and I left the store in less than 30 minutes with a dress that fit me so well, I don't need alterations. Thank you so much, everyone at David's Bridal! I have to look for a Maid of Honor dress for another wedding soon and I will definitly be going back.

Although I knew what I wanted if found I enjoyed my experience shopping at David’s Bridal as they had many options to choose from as well as helpful staff. I must have taken about 20 various dresses into the fitting room and knew the very first one I tried on was going to be the one I picked. I lucked out as this gown was the perfect fit and length all the way around. I did try on all the others just in case but stuck to my first choice. I also picked and purchased a second shorter dress as I also loved the way it looked and fit. All the time I was there I had the help and support of a lovely young lady named Heather K - #733383. She told me if the dresses looked good on me, one by one I handed the ones I didn’t want to her and she took care of them, she was a great help and support all the way around which helped me finalize my two purchases and made my experience there a wonderful one.

Shelly & Karen in Alterations were great! Extremely understanding with my frustrated teenager. Allura suggested adding spaghetti straps to a strapless gown; allowing my daughter to feel more secure in her dress. Shelly took the time to precisely place the pattern on the straps just right. I have no complaints about the women I worked with. They were all kind and courteous. I was just not very impressed by their wedding dress selection and the quality of the dresses they had. I ended up finding a dress elsewhere and probably would not recommend David's for anybody else looking for "the dress".

My first appointment was fabulous! I didn’t know anything that I wanted and Mackenzie spent a great deal of time of listening and showing me the different dresses. My second appointment was less fantastic I felt that the Consultant didn’t really want to pull dresses for me and had to ask for every little piece. 7 months pregnant; a wedding date of November 1, 2019 equates to a time crunch and exhaustion. I drove about an hour to David’s Bridal in Maine and as soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted by Roxanne. She explained to me the process in selecting a wedding dress as I awaited my stylist. I sauntered through the racks and no more than 5 minutes later, an angel also known as the stylist, Kari Davis arrived. The biggest most beautiful smile a gal can lay eyes on with an undeniable warmth and professionalism. She took me right under her wing and began to soar with me as we selected dresses within my budget and look. Through the whole quest she served me with the upmost respect and kindred love as if we’ve known one another for a lifetime. I was so thankful to the Lord for blessing me with such a wonderful person. The hospitality didn’t rest there because then I had another women by the name of Heather whom sought out a veil and shawl. A lovely poised stylist whom was exceedingly accommodating. The overall experience was a blessing and I can only thank the Lord for allotting me a beautiful experience as a bride and mama to soon be. I went to the David's Bridal in Portland Maine.. My consultant was Anna G. From the second our little group walked in they made you feel welcomed. The place was a zoo at noon on a Saturday. I must have tried on a dozen gowns, went over my allotted time, but had all the attention and help I needed from Anna. I even apologized and offered to cut my time short and she insisted she was there for me until I was happy. This is my 2nd wedding but I eloped the first time, so this time was special as I've never tried on wedding dresses before. My experience here was just awesome. I can't say enough good things. I basically went in with an open mind, was somewhat directionless, and had kind of low expectations. Carrie was kind, patient, genuine, completely respected my budget and really went above and beyond. There was no pressure, and she in no way made me feel bad for not wanting to spend an arm and a leg on my dress (we are basically eloping). I bought my wedding dress back in March at this David's Bridal, and went in earlier this week for my first alterations appointment. Kacie (spelling?) was absolutely phenomenal. I have a fairly intricate dress with 6 layers, and she took her time to make sure everything was hemmed perfectly. The appointment lasted about 3 hours (MUCH longer than I was expecting), but it was so worth it because when I left I felt that my dress was in great hands. Kacie has a great eye for detail, and was making sure I was okay with everything she was doing throughout the alterations process. She was also incredibly accommodating, considering I brought my mom, grandmother, and two nephews to the appointment. She even let me sit to take a break because standing up for 3 hours was hurting my feet. I loved her recommendations and the royal bustle we decided on (her recommendation) came out absolutely stunning. I can't wait to pick up my dress next month!

In one single day I found my perfect dress. I looked online, set a line up of 3 dresses I loved and came in at opening on Sunday. I was greeted by Amber who ended up being my consultant and she was amazing! So personable and knowledgeable for what I needed. I showed her the 3 dresses, which were in stock in store and we were off. Amber was very kind and patient, she wanted to find the right dress for me just as much as I did. When we found the right dress, a woman by the name of Karen came up and gave praise at the dress and myself—very sweet. As it turned out Karen was the seamstress who would be assisting me in tailoring my dress! Amber traded me off to Karen and in a few short minutes the dress was pinned and I was on my way to check out. The tailoring for my dress was set for 4 weeks, which was amazing considering I am getting married in 2.5 months. The level of professionalism and genuine care these two women provided to me today in my time of need and complete anxiety were instrumental in my being able to find the perfect dress in less than 3 hours on my very first visit to a bridal shop in my life. Not to mention I am self conscious of my weight and I found no judgement whatsoever from the ladies who helped me. I would recommend David’s Bridal in South Portland to any woman who needs to find a dress as they are really the one stop shop to take all of the stress out of making this huge decision & at a very reasonable price.
