This store has lots of floorspace (although I'm beginning to suspect that all best buys have strict requirements for size and layout). This location connects to the Maine Mall so you can buy something and walk straight into the rest of the mall.

Worst experience here. I live an hour and a half away and called ahead of time to ask about laptops. The women on the phone told me they had a 2016 MacBook Pro refurbished for $500. I drive there and the price was actually $580. I’m looking at this laptop and it looks really old to me... they assure me it’s a 2016, and I almost purchase it, but made them double check the vin #.... turns out it was a 2012!!! Glad I didn’t purchase it. I asked the man to show me the HPs, since there were no MacBooks for the price they told me. He didn’t go help me, I stood there for 15 minutes with my toddlers and nobody came to help. I finally went to ask for help again, and the guy came over and he told me all the affordable laptops will last maybe 2 years and that they were all “junk.” I had the worst experience and if I didn’t desperately need a laptop for college that day, I would’ve left.

Lots of variety of electric gear. The are usually a bit higher priced than other places but have a great return policy. I would recommend this place.

Note: this evaluation is for some B.B. employees, not for the entire store. It was the worst Best Buy purchasing experience I’ve ever had. I was trying to do a price match in the checkout, but a lady in her middle age refused me immediately without any feeling by saying “it’s against the policy. If I do that, I’ll be fired. We don’t do your price match. You can go to XXX store.” (Sounds like I’m not very welcomed to be their customer if I don’t take their price.) Well, as a frequent Best Buy buyer (elite plus member), I think most BB employees are very friendly. If they encounter any problem they could not handle, they would ask their manager first or suggest me to connect with online customer services, and would never express something rude like that. It is the good interaction and face to face friendly conversation that make me keep purchasing in a physical store instead of Amazon, eBay or even Best Buy online. However, if you receive some “I don’t care” feeling words from a B.B. employee, what’s the meaning of visiting this store?

Location refused price match to exact same model on amazon despite officially sold and shipped from Amazon. I had to call Best Buy customer service and price match over the phone and schedule "pick up in store" to get my order. Best Buy support said "the store should have price matched this item." Best Buy support took my order over the phone and scheduled "in-store pickup". I was already in the store, so I tried to pick up my order immediately. The store told me that they would have to cancel my phone order. I told them NOT TO cancel the order for a couple of reasons. However, against my consent, the store cancelled the order anyways. Then AGAIN they gave me the run around about how they can't price match the item, even though it was just price matched on the phone. Manager was called due to "frustrated customer" which at this point I had every right to be. Manager said that they couldn't price match this product and that it could be a Best Buy exclusive. I already knew that Netgear doesn't make Best Buy exclusive routers, let alone AX12 specific Best Buy exclusive routers, so he was trying to justify their decision with complete nonsense. I'm also not sure why they couldn't just match the model number using you know, THE INTERNET (like phone support did). I argued some more, explained I already had a price match that the store cancelled, and finally got my price match. What should have taken 10 minutes, ended up taking 1.5 hours. I don't leave reviews often and I've done my fair share of purchasing at Best Buy, but this experience was abnormally bad, made me late to work, and was a complete waste of time.

I was a frequent buyer. My last purchase was a laptop envy HP with almost $1000 because it's I7, very powerful, fast and battery last longer. Wrong! After a month I had a problem with noising. Second month, my computer was slow. Third month, my battery emptying faster and my charger doesn't charge. I went to Best Buy to change or to trade to another one but they refused me. I really work on this computer and I am a student also and will have exams this week. Therefore, I went back and I asked them to repair it and they told me to contact HP because it gonna take them 3 to 4 weeks to repair it and they won't gonna give me another one until they fix it. I have an appointment tomorrow to repair this junk and honestly, this is the worst customer care experience ever.

Went to buy a new phone but was debating between the Samsung Galaxy 9 vrs the new Pixel 3. There was a Young Man who came to help but it was another who really sold me the on the Pixel. Once I bought the phone I quickly found out this kid was new and it took 3 hours to get the new phone set up with occasional then eventual full help from one of the experienced "phone guy" vrs. a trainee!. My uncle who had a flight to London to catch had to say his goodbyes to to us there. And the kid had told me they had the same power cords as other Android's. That's not true and the phone doesn't come with earbuds either! And most of my old phones data never did transfer!

We bought an Lg 49" TV with a wall mount all by suggestion of our sales associate. When we got home we noticed that a table mount was grabbed for us rather than a wall mount. Went back the next day to return it. I also found the TV for $54 less at another store. The $250 wall mount at Best buy we changed our mind on. We found $99 one at Home Depot with the same quality.

Your average tech store. I wouldn't recommend shopping during peak hours, it's a nightmare. Otherwise it's a decent store, though I've had some negative interactions with multiple employees here. While unfortunate, other employees have actually been polite and helpful, so I'll give them four stars.

This store is the first good best buy experience I've had! I didnt give it a five because it took awhile to get some help and there were quite I few people who had no idea how to help, but once Jim Watson came to help us... I was very pleased with the experience. That man knows what he's talking about! He was great about ensuring we got the advertised sales price, walked me through my options, tips for setting it up to ensure success, and step by step how to set it up and common mistakes to avoid, and was amazing at respecting my budget but still getting me the wifi support I needed. He was also clearly in high demand with his coworkers looking for support in getting other customers what they were looking for. To Jims manager...give that man a raise! And to Jim...thank you for your time and help!

The store was under stocked. Despite the many employees not a one offered me assistance. I tried to catch an eye etc but short of confronting someone either they all were busy or engaged in this that or the other. I ended up wandering around looking for PC games that they didn't have. I had a pocket full of money and with a little nudge was oh so close to talking myself into buying a mavic pro drone. Not a one even enquired if I needed information or assistance or even engaged in any pleasant conversation the fish that got away.

Went into Best buy for the first time in years and remember why I never go in there. The sales guy on the floor was helpful which is why I did not give a one star. He showed us a decent wireless router then mentioned it was on sale on Amazon and suggested we use their price match guarantee at the register. I brought up the same router with the same product code on the Amazon site but because the picture looked different than the one on the box he said he could not give us the price match. Needless to say we ended up ordering the better priced one on Amazon. Thanks to the associate that suggested it to us though.

The staff here are very helpful and low-pressure. The store is well laid out with plenty of space and a good variety of products. We are disappointed that most Best Buy stores don't seem to be selling CD's anymore. While this is understandable since so much music is digital these days, we were hoping that a store in a larger city might carry some. However, we are grateful that this store is still thriving and for the capabilities of their sales specialists. In a world where sales are becoming more and more online based, it's nice to have the option to view products in person and ask professionals their opinions instead of reading hours of reviews to get an informed opinion.

Good inventory of electronic stuff (phones, computers, TVs, etc.) with decent prices. They won't necessarily have five choices for every item but they will have at least one choice with a decent price and quality. Service was quite helpful! I got everything that I needed. The big advantages over online purchases are: instant gratification, try before you buy, talk to a real human, and after-sales service ("Geek Squad"). When those things are important to me, I'm happy to pay 20% more than online.

I have visited this store last night to upgrade my line at 7:28 PM and there was only 2 people out there to help for phone area . one was boy and other was girl . the boy said he don't know how to do phone service and said the girl will help you in 10 minutes . we said ok we don't mind waiting , than again he came back saying it will be another 10 minutes, we said ok ,again he came and said it will be more than 15 minute wait we said are you sure she is going to even help us . he said yes she is going to help . and at the end the girl came in and said we can't help you as it's 8:38 PM and i am with other guest and our system shuts down at 9:00PM . (really after waiting for hour and 10 minutes ) she came and said she can't help . we approach this issue to the manager and he came out with sleepy eyes and said sorry ,sorry, sorry (nothing else ) .such a rude place to buy any electronics . i would never go there .

The Best Buy store in South Portland is just your typical big blue box. They have a good selection of everything you'd expect at Best Buy - TVs, Home Theater, Speakers, Appliances, computers, and Phones. This store does have a small Magnolia section where you can experience their higher end Home theater products, although many products are special order only. Steer clear of the high end HDMI cables, though. They're overpriced and offer no picture quality increase over Amazon Basics HDMI cables. Staff here is typical Best Buy. One or two specialists that know what they're talking about and the rest just read the product cards and don't understand what they're reading. Since Best Buy actually stocks TVs and Electronics (and Amazon charges sales tax), I find myself purchasing here on large purchases rather than Amazon. Oh yeah - this store is really good about price matching Amazon, so you're not spending anything more and you can take it home today.

It's Best Buy so it's only ever "fine" really. The employees either know "just enough" or "f**k all" about the things around them and there's always too few of them anyway. There's a dude in the Chromebook section that's pretty helpful though. Find him if you need something.

People who work at Best Buy must be really stressed out. I can't say that they were specifically rude or hostile, but they're not friendly. Additionally they don't offer genuine help or customer service. It feels like they're checking off boxes. I'm glad that when I visit the store I know what I'm looking for off the shelves, if I didn't I can't imagine I would leave feeling satisfied.

They have great deals with activation or AT&T etc but is false advertising "with activation". With activation means become a new customer of AT&T and if I did that I would have had to change my phone number. Not happy about the false advertising as I was about to purchase the new Samsung s10 but they told me it'd be $700 instead if $500.

Big store with staff that are not equally knowledgeable or trained in customer service. Their website said they had 3 of the desired phones, I was told they hadn't had any for months. Told to go a store 40 miles away. When I asked if they would call that store I was initially told no. Eventually they called. Again told none at that store but the website and live chat person showed 3 of the phones.

Generally I'm only in this Best Buy to make my way to the rest of the mall, but recently I did go in to purchase a new phone (Google Pixel 3, which I would recommend btw). I meant to write this review sooner because I got *outstanding* customer service from the young lady who helped me out and now I can't remember her name. I think it was Selma?! Or something similar!! She was extremely knowledgeable, very patient, and had answers for all of my (many) questions. It's hard to give someone a shout-out when you can't remember their name exactly, but the tl;dr version is that the staff here is great.

Bought office for my laptop. Realized I already had one. Went to return it within 24 hours to be told it’s a non refundable product. Then be told the most I could get was $31 for it. I paid $137. The lady tried to tell me I bundled it with my laptop and only got charged $31. I have receipt which I would gladly share the picture of on here to prove I was charged $137.

Went in to pick up a couple of external hard drives. Clerk was great, very knowledgeable. Also wanted to check out the Oculus Go. The clerk was helpful-ish, but the Oculus unit was not charged, so I could not get a demo. I went back a couple weeks later to check it out again, and was told that there was nobody there who could help with the Oculus. How do you not have anyone in the store who can help with a product that you sell? Off to Amazon I go.

I like going to Best Buy as there are numerous things to buy, but getting anyone to wait on you takes forever. We were at the ATT booth in the middle of the store, which is also the Sprint and Verizon booth as well, and waited almost an hour before being helped, and that was because there was only one representative from each there. If you need to speak to someone about your phone or what they sell, I recommend going to that company's store, not the booth in Best Buy. Other than that, it's a good store.

Absolutely great place to upgrade my family's phones. The staff is very knowledgeable and always happy to help. Best of all they have a great selection of games, movies, and electronics. Customer service is always happy to help and the staff is friendly. My family and I are always happy to visit the Portland Bestbuy store.

This store is always busy, and calling is a trip into purgatory, the automated options give no hope to talk to a person. Waited over fifteen minutes today and no answer. Best option is to fight off the agoraphobia and dash into the store and see if they will communicate eye to eye, I have had good person to person assistance with information about products and in sales. So, if you are buying something, they are all about you.

I go here quite a bit and really enjoy the product selection and services available. My big issue is you can find it VERY difficult to find a free employee to assist you in the computer section. I've had to search and wait for someone for up to an hour once.

The recent renovation of this Best Buy location brought a much-needed facelift to the store. I've always been pleased with the staff and service here. The in-store pickup is a breeze to use and always quite speedy. The product selection is sizable, with plenty to look at.

This specific store has just revamped themselves. The store looks really great! Love the way they have set up the camera section. It looks way classier than it did in the past. Set up is very nice. Enjoyed visiting it. Told clerk Brandon that I was impressed with the updated look.

Great store! I just recommend you look at the online deals because they have so many sales everyday they sometimes don't get the chance the mark things down. Most of my electronics I buy here. The only problem I've had is there is a 4 year warranty in Maine for all electronics. (Law) and they didn't fix or replace my laptop a year after I bought it. Still runs funny... And all the people at customer service gave me an attitude about the Maine warranty law which I think is wrong, very wrong. It's law. Don't tell me it isn't.

It seems when they offer help you don't need it at the time. When you do need help there's nobody around. I understand it's a brick and mortar and I'd gladly pay a little more to be able to deal locally, but the prices online blow them out of the water. Not to mention that their extended warranty prices are way too high!! I know they price match and that's great, but the extended service plan was almost $200 higher.

The customer service at this store may be the worst customer service that I have have ever dealt with. I bought a tv at this store and the tv had a manufacturer defect. The tv did not work right out of the box and when I went to exchange it for the same tv I was told that it was outside of their 15 day return policy and due to the fact that I did not pay for the “Best Buy” coverage I was on my own. Even with a receipt! If you spend your hard earned money here and have an issue please just remember YOU are too small for this BIG TIME RETAILER and they will NOT Help You if you have problems with the products that they sell!!
