So disappointing, bought “prime” ribeyes and was not edible. We found ourselves chewing and chewing the same bite. The personnel was oh so generous just the product did not meet the usual standards of Calandros.

Great little grocery store for a quick shopping trip. Everything is a bit pricey so I would recommend a larger store for a big shopping trip. This store will have what you need though and is just right down the road. Also they sell Bawls energy drink, so 5 stars for that alone.

All the staff is rude. They have made a few changes to the cashiers ( only because they accused a woman of color of stealing when she was only shopping) but in my opinion they haven’t done enough. Every time I shop there the employees act as if they have something better to do, as if I’m bothering them by being in the store. I haven’t had a good interaction with one employee that works there. I’d much rather shop at Matherne’s or now Sprouts. Don’t waste your money supporting this place

The lady who does the wine section is super cool and nice. She always matches us with the perfect wine. Taste and price wise! But this rude old hag at the first counter today had her light ON and I walked up and she pushed a sign at me that said 'register closed' where is the customer service? Politeness?? She could have simply said 'sorry, I'm closing up here' she could have said ANYTHING! Y'all need to learn some people skills. Because I would have been wrong if I would've cursed her out, huh!?

This is a local supermarket and has been locally owned and operated for probably 50 years. They even allow people to have accounts. They have a great wine and liquor selection and the produce and meats are very high-quality it can be a little bit pricey but the quality is there.

Quality has gone down tremendously in recent years. The staff is always rude with a couple exceptions. Will not shop here again because of my most recent experience with a particular rude staff member who is somehow an assistant manager.

Upon entry of this sacred market, the scent of warm cinnamon greets your nose, inviting you to follow it to the heart of the store (in my opinion), the bakery (or as I'd call it: the King-Cakery). There, you'll find pretty much any flavor of King Cake that exists, rivalling even Ambrosia with it's timeless texture and filling fillings. I LOVE this place if you don't know already, and if anyone's wondering where the oddest variety of sodas in Mid City are, look no further than the shelf by the first checkout. They also have Ramune people, RAMUNE. Hands down best market in a 5-mile radius. Enjoy!

One of my favorite places in Mid City. Great selection, fantastic bakery, enormous wine selection. The workers get a little pushy when it's close to closing time, but I understand wanting to go home. Other than that this place is fantastic.

Five stars for the beer, wine, and liquor selection alone. Some of the best US breweries represented with some beers I can't even get at most bottle shops. Scotch selection is floor to ceiling, with nicer aged varieties and some bottles I thought you could only get in Scotland. You pay a small premium of course, but that's the natural trade-off for quality goods. This is my new go-to place.

Calandro's is an important staple in mid city BR culture. Old school neighborhood grocery store. All of their produce is fresh af. Bring your wallet though, because some things are a little pricey there. If you're a hipster you will fall in love with this store- it's the first place I found Parish Ghost in the Machine back in the day. Their beer selection rivals even Cuban Liqour.

Great bakery, all homemade, and very reasonably priced. However, shooting for the bottom with the customer service. Considering that the store is never full, I would say that management may want to consider putting two and two together at some point.

Although this place is a little pricey, they have THE BEST chicken salad in the whole wide world....perfectly seasoned with huge pecans and sweet grapes, I’m always craving it! Their king cakes are so delicious and moist I ate a whole one (strawberry cheesecake) by myself. It’s safe to say the entire deli is off the chain and everyone I encountered at this location has been very nice!

My coworker who happens to be a caucasian female referred me to this store stating that they have good cakes. My husband and I was going to an event and I stopped over to get a cake because I had no time to order one. As I entered the store eyes was on me... I thought, well maybe they like my attire. I proceeded to go to the back and look at the cakes and the police on duty walked up and down the isle watching me. Let me say, I had nothing but a wallet in my hand and a fitted dress, where in the world could I put an item to steal?????? I later got the cake, came up to the counter to pay and the cashier stated, "I am sorry, we don't take food stamp cards." I had to pause for a moment, because if I would have said anything to her, with the officer now standing in the front, I probably would have been shot.... Stupid me... paid for the cake with my debit card and left. It would be a cold day in hell... If I would ever put my foot back into that place again; and I tell all of my friends and relatives, please don't waist your money to support this place. It has been here for many years and I would always pass it for a reason... But, God had to remind me why.. Just thought, as a professional black female, this was important to put out for others who may have experienced this at this location or who intend to come... PLEASE DON'T IF YOU ARE THE "OTHER" RACE..
