Excellent dinner. Will definitely be a favorite

Have been here many times in the last 4 years since we moved to KY. The wines have always been pretty good. When we first started going there the food and service was top notch. However; the last 3 times (all within the last year) have been disappointing. The food has gotten MUCH worse recently. This past Saturday was the December 16th, 2017 was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back and prompted this review. I my sister and I both ordered the 12 oz sirloin. We both agreed, it had to be the worst steak I have eaten! There's was no sear, both steaks were completely pale & looked like they had been boiled rather than grilled. Their definition of rare was about a 1/8th inch ring of cooked meat on an approx 1.5 inch thick serving, and the rest of the meat was very red. Also, the meat was EXTREMELY tough. Finally our potatoes vegies were cold when delivered. My wife ordered the Winter burger, and found a huge chunk of unground meat and gristle buried inside. And there was so much pepper seasoning that it was almost too hot to eat. I guess we need to give JF a break for awhile and find a new restaurant to take friends and family.

Great bartender, Elvalina who helped me, a beer drinker, to love Tempest red wine! Best pork chop ever. Clean and well cared for.

When youre done with the Bourbon tour, go to this place. When you have something to celebrate go to this place. Order the cheeses and the sausages. Order the specials. It is all quite incredible. Be careful getting there!

Wine tasting before dinner. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. Drinks are reasonable and food was fantastic. Great experience.

JOKE! Do not waste your money. Wannabe fine dining. Mother’s Day was a disaster. wilted warm salad, micro size dinner portions, salmon was edible but tasteless. The strict limit on day old dinner rolls for a $40 plate was disappointing, the cheesecake was still frozen which lead me to believe it came out of a box before even tasting it. After tasting I regretfully concluded that I have had better out of a box. My wife and I were $152.00 in the hole after this “fine dining” experience and left this place still hungry. I would not recommend dining here unless you are masochistic. Not to mention that the day after I am feeling sick to the stomach as is several members of my family.

Let’s face it the Lexington area is very limited in its offerings. The location itself on a summer’s night is breathtaking. Stumbled across some old photos that reminded me of how attractive the location is. The menu is not overly exciting but food is good with excellent service. As a European, the price of wine is very high. But much better than some of the highly priced but dreadful places in downtown Lexington.

Went last night for our anniversary, and had a fantastic experience. The cheese and sausage plate were wonderful, the mussels were so tender they could have been used as a spread, and the scallops were excellent - however it was the service that blew me away. I genuinely felt like a guy wearing khaki shorts and an un-tucked plaid shirt was more concerned about our level of experience than servers at some of the "fancier" places in town where they wear ties & vests, and have assistants that refill your water after ever sip. He was courteous, genuine, never came across as a salesman. Every course was timed perfectly, and he left us alone without ever making us feel like we were being neglected. We've been to JF quite a few times. As my foodie wife puts it, "it's food how its supposed to be".

Michelle Brafford

Disappointing... Stopped in for a tasting, none of the staff could tell me anything about the wine's, they really need to educate them better !! My food was very good.

Ria ria

Went with a group that had reservations, and we were treated so badly that we left.

Nan Brown

Best burger EVER! Hands down my best dining experience in Lexington yet. Chef Nate is extremely talented and incredibly personable. Dessert was over the top and I️ can’t wait to come back. If you’ve never been to Jean Farris and are thinking about it, think no more. It’s worth every penny or should I️ say dollar!

Food and wine were outstanding. Service was excellent. Only reason I gave it four stars was temperature in enclosed dining area was very uncomfortable. No air movement and very humid.

It is off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Reservations are recommended but there were several open table at 7pm on a Sunday night. The meal was better than I thought it would be. The Simple Farm salad came with just the red wine vinaigrette dressing that was rich in flavor. The Flank Steak entree was delicious and at 12 oz it should satisfy anyone's appetite. The Blueberry cobbler is a must for your dessert. The cobbler was double stuffed with blue berries and warmed and then topped with ice cream. Yum!!!

Best restaurant (food wise) in Lexington. Never had a bad experience and their wine isn't half bad.

The meal was overpriced as usual and lacking taste on two of the four entrees. They did comp one of the entrees to be fair.

Nice setting friendly people good food and wine

Worst dining experience ever. We went there for the 1st time to celebrate my Birthday. The service was so terrible, I believe our table was addressed twice the whole night. Once to order, and then to deliver food. We had to flag down the hostess to get our bill. To receive our food took over a hour! No one even came to check on us the entire time! To top off the worst dining experience, my husband got sick with food poisoning that started the minute we got home. Around midnight, it hit me! I have never had food poisoning before and let me tell you.. WORST Ever!!! I was sick for two days!!! I still haven't fully been able to enjoy a meal without hesitation. We will tell everyone of this horrific experience and will not go back!

Chef Nate is Amazing! The Lobster Pappardelle is delicious, regular or gluten-free! We got the potato wedges and Mussels for starters. Both were wonderful and gluten-free! We sat on their beautiful patio and enjoyed our freshly prepared meal! Chef Nate is so knowledgeable and capable that when we go back, we will tell him to surprise us! Thanks for making my birthday fabulous!

Wonderful family experience today for thanksgiving. Food was excellent. Sharees, our server was top notch. Chef sent us an extra side dish to taste. Outstamding sweet potatoes. Everything on the Thanksgiving menu today was outstanding. Definitely recommend.

We visited the winery for the first time on Saturday and it will be the last. I am not even sure they are truly a winery. The staff did not explain anything about the products, we ordered the wine flights and the wine was so bad we didn't even finish them. The bright spot of the visit was it allowed us to stumble onto the Grimes winery down the street which was a wonderful experience.

Lauren Harris

I adore dining at Jean Farris. The wine, food and service are all superior. I've never been disappointed. This restaurant is a true Kentucky gem, with a quiet ambiance and personality that's rare. I wish this establishment continued success and look forward to enjoying their food and wine for many years to come!

Doug Richard

Great food and atmosphere very nice!!

Stephanie Dent

Terrible. 3 of us order filets with potatoes that could have easily been mistaken for biscuits. They were hard and cold. 1 person in our party had to send back her steak TWICE. The prices are outrageous for what you get. I had more veggies in my pasta dish than pasta. Then they went ahead and added a 20% tip with a party of just 6 of us? Very sad I drove from Louisville to this winery and bistro. 0/10 will never recommend

I will admit we didn’t have food, but between my husband and I, we tasted 8 wines and gave them all a thumbs-down. We are members at other wineries in the area, but no thanks, to this one.

We went for NYE to kick off 2019. The experience was overall disappointing. The wine was delicious. I would go back for a tasting, but it would be hard to convince me to go for a meal after this experience (my first at the establishment), even though I doubt this is typical for Jean Farris. It seemed like the main problem was they were ill-prepared for the crowd. Our reservation was at 8 and we didn't leave until after 11 due to the service being so slow. (Our waiter was friendly but was clearly overwhelmed, it seemed as though they were understaffed) The food was disappointing as well. It seemed like a poor choice by management to offer both a prefix menu and the regular selections. Our entrees were lukewarm to cold when they arrived at the table and portion sizes were wildly inconsistent among the same selections, as was the seasoning of the food. The majority of my party ordered the surf and turf from the prefix menu. My steak was actually quite good and at least lukewarm but my friends had zero seasoning on it and another had a steak that was well seasoned but cold and under cooked for what she ordered as well as being just slightly larger than a golf ball (much smaller than everyone else's). All of our lobster tails were cold and overcooked to the point the meat was tough. The entire meal was disappointing and no where near the $50 price tag. Additionally there was no effort made to communicate the reasoning for the lag in service or apologize for the over an hour delay in food being served after ordering.

The food was absolutely delicious! In a class above others. The service was friendly and attended us well. A beautiful place.

Most of our plates came out with warm rather than hot food. Nothing was bad, just poorly executed.

First time there tonight for a wine tasting. Service was amazing and wine flights were well priced and great way to try new varieties. Hubby and I definitely want to go back and try the bistro.

I love this place. The scenery is amazing and the food is amazing. Highly recommend.

Jean Farris is one of our favorite places to visit for a quiet date night or to celebrate special occasions with friends and family. We love the atmosphere and always find staff to be helpful and friendly. The menu never disappoints with a variety of seasonal specialties and the wine selection is fabulous! We will be back again and again. It just feels like home.

I have eaten my last meal at this rest. It was horrible on Thanksgiving Day and was way over priced. We were there this summer and it was very good and it is not about the money. I dont mind spending good money for equal food. But my friend and I got the deep fried turkey and we were both served the WING. That is it. I have been fixing deep fried turkey with my husband for over 20 years. The WING ..makes good turkey jerky, but it is not edible. ThE DRESSING was not dressing,at,all. It was sweet potatoes with celery and onion in them. The mashed potatoes were,ok the brussle sprouts were overcooked and there were only 2 desserts offered and they were completely out of one of them and this was,at 4:00pm.!! In the afternoon It was a tiny piece of molasses cake with no icing , very dry and 1 macaroni which was the highlight of the evening. The waitress rushed us thru all 3 courses and tried to take our plates many times and we kept telling her to leave us. I don't know why the rush. If they were serving wings at 4:00 and out of 1 of the only 2 desserts offered, they should have closed up. The meal was 50 plus an automatic tip of 20% which was already on the bill. THERE WERE ONLY 2 OF US.. NOT A TABLE FULL. LESSON LEARNED. NEVER AGAIN .

If I could choose a no star review I would because that's what we got....nothing. I organized an engagement party for a friend who flew over seas from the U.K. To celebrate her marriage proposal with 10 working mothers who made great sacrifices to attend an event that was supposed to be a happy memory. I received a phone call 2 hours before our arrival and while I was picking up the bride to be for a pre event celebration and listened to a very matter of fact message from someone who called themselves the manager of Jean Ferri's, that they were closing the restaurant due to a gas leak with no further information or apology....nothing but a very insincere " have a nice night" with no follow up response to my phone calls still. Do Not support this place that has some sort or strange dark omen. There may be situations that are out of ones control but how you respond to those circumstances sure is! Absolutely NO integrity.

Very nice winery! Didn't have dinner there, however. Wine flight, excellent!

Took over 3 hrs to to receive food and have dinner. The food was mediocre at best. Very rude owner, do yourself a flavor and don’t waste your time and money.

Not only was the setting beautiful, the staff went above and beyond to give us a night to remember!

A gem in Lexington. Easily the best local winery, and if you're sneering "Kentucky wine?," get your butt in here and try some. These guys have repeatedly won medals at recognized wine competitions across the country. Yes, with 40+ wineries across the state now, we have plenty of bubble gum wine if that's your thing, but there are a few proper wineries and this is the leader of the pack. Amazing bistro attached with a James Beard award winning chef. Locally sourced ingredients. Fancy food without the stuffy atmosphere. Stop in for a cheese & meat plate with a wine tasting, or for a full meal, you won't be disappointed. Excellent patio and great happy hour deals. Just outside of Lexington, but worth the drive.

Marilyn Vermeesch

Had a great tomato tasting appetizer (caprese salad), followed by pork tenderloin and lobster dinners. Husband really enjoyed the lobster with pasta. The whipped sweet potatoes and brussel sprouts were great! Tenderloin slightly dry, otherwise, it was great!

Pam C

Reservations made in advance and they were so rude (Jessica) and could not accomdate a group of 20 even though that was what the reservation was for. My first time here and I will never go there again!!! Very rude employees. We left and went to another winery that was happy to receive business from 20 customers!!!

Natalie Sehweil

My boyfriend's family treated us to a gift card at JF as a Christmas present along with two bottles of wine from the winery. We poured the wine out since it tasted so awful we assumed it must have gone bad. We finally went to dine there last night for Valentine’s Day (Saturday) and found the place relatively empty. We should have known why. My boyfriend and I tried the wine flights (classic reds and whites) and found both INTOLERABLE, just like the bottles we poured out! We then ordered beet salads. The salads didn’t come with any salad. It was raw beets on a plate. Complete disappointment. We ended up spending the gift card on bourbon from the bar. Don’t waste your time.

Good place for dinner or a drink

We came in on a Friday night on a whim and had the best experience, maybe ever. Every course was amazing. Chef Nate and Owner Jean were passionate about their craft, amazingly friendly and hospitable. What a gem!

James Younce

The food is good, the wine is great. Overall the winery is a great experience. However, it is a bit overpriced in the restaurant.

Abigail Rogers

Sweet little dinner spot. 4 of us went to dinner on a girls weekend in Lexington. The cheese was amazing, cocktails were good, service was fast and dinner was delicious! One friend did order a wine flight and didn't finish it because the wines were too sweet, I would like to go back just for a wine tasting. Big portions of food though. We ordered scallops, pork, chicken, and tapas- all fantastic, we finished everything. The best part was the french press tea at then end of our meal. Highly recommend the blueberry tea!

I rated this by accident and don't know how to delete it. We tried to go Tuesday, but they were closed for "personal time", so I don't know how to rate it....

I am utterly embarrassed that I have to write this review, as my boyfriend & I made the mistake of talking up Jean Farris to a group of friends we took there on Saturday as part of the McConnell Springs tasting. The lunch JF offered was comprised of a basic menu: pasta salad, chicken salad, burgers, flank steak & eggs, or eggs with sausage or bacon. The 6 of us arrived promptly for our late-lunch reservation & we were escorted to the patio. JF did not appear to be very busy as there were only a few fellow lunch patrons wrapping up their meals. From the time we ordered until the food came, the waitress never returned to the table to give us an update or ask if we needed anything. The rest of my group finally wandered off to participate in the tasting while I agreed to text them when food arrived. It took 45 minutes from the time we sat down to get our food. Fair enough. But 3 burgers were cooked to hockey pucks regardless of temp requested, 2 chicken salads (literally chicken salad spooned out over romaine hearts), & one set of eggs & bacon (crispy eggs, limp, greasy bacon). No apps, no drinks other than water (refills were eventually ignored) & some of the spring greens used on the burgers (on the bun, not atop the meat) were slimy. During the meal, we had to get up & hunt down our waitress in order to make requests for basic things like condiments because, once the food was dropped, our waitress disappeared. When my boyfriend made mention of our experience to the management afterwards, because SHE ASKED, her clipped reply was, “Well, I guess we should just stick to what we know,” basically brushing it off. This is what I learned after my latest experience: Do not go there if you have a party larger than 4. This results in a cascade of several fees & imposed charges, as well as a decline in attentive service. If you reserve for parties over 5, they take a CC over the phone & slap you with a $25 fee for every person who can’t attend. So if you have a couple of friends who can’t make dinner at the last minute, for example, you can be hit with a $50 charge. Thankfully, that was not the case with us. My entire party was able to attend the lunch. But still, $25 per person? Alongside this fee, they also impose an automatic gratuity of 20%. While I am all about leaving a more than generous tip & I understand why some restaurants do this, in order make sure the wait-staff isn’t abused & left with an undesirable reward for their efforts, this automatic gratuity can, at times, also leave the client at the mercy of the wait-staff. That was the indignity we suffered as our waitress seemingly took advantage of the fact that she knew we’d have to pay her a tip regardless of her poor performance. As for the tasting, my friends noted how terse the blonde manning the wine barrels was. Whenever they made inquests regarding wine making her responses were abrupt and laced with a less than friendly tone. Seriously though, that is what you do on these tours, you oh & ah at the process & ask questions while taking a sip of the offered libation. If she wasn’t in the mood to do it, she should have assigned someone else to the task. Instead, she was more concerned about complaining [insert sensitive business matters that I will politely not repeat here] to a fellow staff member. Certainly not something I think should be mentioned in front of people there for a barrel tasting. So to sum up, go to Jean Farris if it is a party of 4 or less, only for dinner, don’t get the same waitress we had, & don’t ask too many questions about the wine & you’ll likely have a great time.

Awesome service, great cheese and wine. I'll be escaping here again soon

Sebron Dixon

Wonderful conversation with the owner, fantastic wine and cheese. I’d recommend this place to anyone and will absolutely go back when I’m in the area again. So glad I got a bottle to take home. Next time, I’ll just get more than one...

Nursey nurse77

The wine was pretty good, tho a little over priced for some of the bottles. The beat salad was surprisingly different and very delicious. The duck (a good portion too) was excellent, as were the lobster rolls. Dessert was good, but not great, we had the blueberry cobbler and a creme brulé (custard was more like pudding, and the sugar crust was a little thicker than should be). Service was good. Will go back next time we are in Lexington!

jordan spence

Great atmosphere! Excellent staff! Request Adam, Brita or Sharese. Great food and excellent wine list. Best hidden gem in town!

It's crazy how when it comes to complaining it's so easy but how hard it is to say something great about a place that deserves it! Probably one of the best experience I have had at any restaurant period! If you've never gone time to visit! The whole restaurant is awesome. The staff will blow your mind and the food will make you keep coming back. Thanks for being different and your passion shows hope to enjoy this place for years to come. Josean Rolon

Stopped on the way back to Cincinnati and so glad we did. We walked in and were immediately met by Adam at the bar. He made us feel very welcome and we sat at the bar and had some fine whites and reds. We also ordered the sausage and cheese plate (highly recommend that you do this as it was delicious) with their homemade crackers. We bought a couple bottles to take with us and can't wait to stop there again next time we are in the area. Don't pass this place if you have the time!

Sarah McClanahan

With looking at lukewarm reviews I was going into brunch yesterday for the wine. We ended up being pleasantly surprised. The food we got was absolutely fantastic. The chicken and dumplings was flavorful with a great broth and the burger was well seasoned and juicy. We’ll definitely come back again.

Phyllis Herald

My daughter took me to Jean Farris Winery for my birthday dinner this past Saturday, I ordered the skirt steak asked for mashed potatoes instead of fries, well the steak was like eating rubber and I didn’t get the mashed potatoes for the fried and then reminded the server I asked for mashed instead of fries also the chimichurri wasn’t fresh! Was very disappointed, don’t think but I know for sure I won’t be going back nor would I recommend this restaurant! ☹️☹️☹️☹️

dorice evans

very dissapointed on the quality of the food especially for the high price tag, plate filled with cheap mashed potatoes and the new york strip was not very tender, presentation was not nice, fish had good taste, the roasted potatoes with it tasted like leftover from the previous evening, views are nice, service is good, nothing against our waitress, however the food is very low quality and bad presentation, we spend almost $100 for two people and outback (chain restaurant) has better food

Tammy May

This was our first time visiting Jean Farris, but it won’t be our last. The atmosphere was great and the staff made us feel at home. Getting to meet the owner and the executive chef made the experience more personal for us. The food and service was great. Our sever made sure we had everything we needed to ensure a great experience. I also really enjoyed the seasonal Bee’s Knees cocktail and their wine selection. We can’t wait to come back soon!

Kim Fishback

What a cool place! My husband and I had a wonderful meal today -the burger was one of the most flavorful burgers I've had -served with delicious truffle fries. The bourbon brown sugar bacon was to die for. We also had the charcuterie board filled with a variety of sausages, nuts, pickled things (but I do think that could have had more cheeses on it for the price) . Love that everything is housemade with fresh organic ingredients. of course we enjoyed the wine tastings and brought several bottles of wine home with us. Service was great and so glad we got to talk with Jean and chefs. We give Jean Faris 2 thumbs up for sure! Check it out

Chris Edwards

We tried 2 flights of wine, the sweet and the house blend and we weren't that impressed with any. Everything seemed overpriced. We like to support local business but not when it takes advantage of you.

Lance Burkhardt

Went there with my girlfriend Kameron after a wonderful day hiking on a Sunday. Sat at the bar where the bartender was courteous and helpful. Being our first time there we decided to do a wine tasting of most of thier made on site wine. Wonderful selection with great pricing for tastes. The cheese plate we ordered was just perfect.

Jodi Bacskay

We used to love the wines and were wine club members. Sadly, the wine is undrinkable. I'd rather have box wine than anything from Jean Farris. We just paid for our final wine club wines...$83 for two bottles of wine that will go down the drain.

George Monticello

Sharon Tompkins Weiss

For what we paid I would’ve had better a meal at home ...I’ve had better cheesecake from Walmart, it was a joke not even real cheesecake, the salmon meal was barely a piece of salmon, salad was basically warm spinach ..gratuity was included and service was not great.... eight dollars for a Cosmo-was not even top shelf... the rose’ wine which was supposed to be a sweet wine was very bitter not sweet at all.. they kept calling it high-end dining yet we were dining on tin tables with no tablecloth‘s and ants out on the patio are far from what I would consider fine dining.. not to mention the limit on dinner rolls and the fact that the dinner rolls were like heated up day old bread.. we were still hungry when we left and had a better meal at BWW after.

Scott Secamiglio

Let me start by saying that this isn't your traditional 'fancy dining' - but in a great way. The owner and staff are very involved, knowledgeable, and friendly. You are literally eating at the owner's farm which provides a family feel to guests and regular customers. The cocktails are definitely a hidden gem in Lexington. The food was great. The view is stunning with sunset and landscapes that make having a glass of the Red Head wine a real treat. You are truly treated like family and I would recommend this place to anyone local or traveling.

Matt Dillon

Great food and excellent atmosphere.

Joe Tieben

Not friendly or helpful. They only had 2 other customers and spent most of there time with them. Very unprofessional. Very disappointing

Carolina De Guzman

James Cunningham

So let's start with I have no issue paying for a nice meal but this place is a complete waist of money. 26.00 for 4 small scallops that are cooked at the skill level of a McDonalds burger chef. Charging a 7 dollar service fee for poor service that was very slow. Then also charging gratuity for a group 1 shy of there standard for an automatic gratuity needless to say there are way better places to spend your money. DO NOT GO HERE HORRIBLE WAIST OF MONEY.

Aaron R. Decker

Dinner here is always amazing and the wine is wonderful!

Parviz Zartoshty

We have been dinning there many times. Last night 9.25.15 we went their with two guests. Made my reservation few days early for their enclosed patio. They gave us a table on the corner beside a big party . We asked our waiter if we can change our table to a better table because the people beside us were loud and our table was in the corner by the wall with no view. He said they are fully booked. The manager also came after 10 minutes to ask me what the problem was . She was short and was not helpful at all. Finally after being there for 25 minutes and having one of our appetizer the waiter said if we like to change our table we can. We changed our table and after being there for 2 hours we noticed that few of their tables were empty the entire time. The food was average this time and the waiter did forget to bring one of our appetizer. Because of the way we were treated by the manager and where lied to, I will never go back and will tell all my friends about our experience.

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving! My boyfriend and I are very thankful y’all were open today. Hands down, best Thanksgiving Meal we’ve ever had!! The corn bread stuffing was the highlight!! We live a hour north, and would consider coming down on a weekend just to eat + drink here again!

Jean Farris is a fantastic atmosphere and dog friendly to boot!! Exquisite food and spirits along with beautiful sunset views!! I highly recommend stopping out for a mind bending dining experience!!

Great winery. Great scenery.

Aaron Piercefield

Party of 6 on 2/15/14, trying to have a nice anniversary dinner for our parents. Like other reviews mentioned price did not match quality of food or service. For 80$ per person I expected the presentation and service to be respectable instead of on par with your local Apple Bees. The lobster bisque was bland. The portions were tiny. Only positive thing I can say is that I really like the local vineyard cab that we got. We will not return to restaurant.

Worst dining experience. Ever! Horrible place, low-class service. We ordered medium steak and they gave us charcoal-burnt meat. It was so hard you could pitch a perfect strike across the plate. I would give "no stars" if this was an available option.

Kara Ball

My family and I ate here for Mother’s Day. It was literally the WORST experience. I don’t complain or write reviews, so for me to do this, says a lot. The service was non existent. A waiter dropped a glass which shaddered and hit one of my family members. She didn’t never bothered to check on him or say she was sorry. The menu was a set menu, which was completely over priced. Not only was the food absolutely horrible, but they ran out of the item on the set menu! Every person in my party refused to eat their food. It was absolutely ridiculous and I assure you I will never go back again. Do not waste your time or money.

Visited for a quick wine and appetizer with a friend and we mostly loved the view of the countryside. Would love to return to try other menu items, but what we had was very good. The wine was just so-so.

I love Jean Farris. It's comfortable in ambiance, but food and service is wonderful. You aren't rushed. Wine is good - Hellhound is my fave. Food is well worth the price! We can't begin here in a bit. We still Love it!

Susan Dills

Simply put the wines were not to our liking; we shared the red flight and left most of the one ounce pour to be dumped down the drain. The sweet white flight was okay. The winery is not a traditional tasting room, you sit at the restaurant bar.

Devon Romriell

The food did not meet the expected value for the price I paid. My halibut dish was good, but I have had better at the Macaroni Grill. My girlfriend had the lamb, but it was a terrible excuse for a plate. The ratatouille was undercooked, and the lamb itself caused her some minor food poisoning later that night (which almost ruined our seven year anniversary). I have worked in many restaurants and owned one briefly when I was younger and it aggravates me that someone has the audacity to charge as much as they do here for something so sub-par that TV dinners would have been a better dinner choice. The winery portion is awesome as is the atmosphere and most of the staff. Enjoy an afternoon wine tasting here, but spend $30 more and go to the Merrick Inn or Griffin Gate for dinner.

Tom Heistuman

Wedding party had unexpected family emergency, rude manager would not make exception and charged $250 for party to cancel.....on a Tuesday night.....because they apparently had already prepped our food....which we order off a menu when we get there.....

Loved the cheese and crackers board and the dolce white wine

I was served, for ten dollars, a rice cake. The kind that tastes like cardboard. Now I really want you to understand when I say a rice cake, I am not exaggerating. It was half soggy. Sometimes rice cakes are good when they are crisp, light, and flavorful. This one was not. On top of this "dessert" base that could have passed for cardboard, is thawed, sweetened once frozen strawberries. These poor strawberries are as bland as one could possibly make them and topped with some slightly above average whipped cream. Think about eating this. Have you ever eaten Cheerios that have been left open for a few months? Now think about paying someone $10.00 plus a 20% tip for it. I would not feel so much pain for being duped by these people if it was just the dessert. The entire meal was below average at best. I ordered a strawberry salad. It arrived warm and wilted, the small handful of mixed spring greens looking like the strong leftovers of a discount bag from the grocery. Every ingredient used was bland, common, and so unloved it made me feel sad. I could go on. But I think you get the point. Where is your pride Jean Farris Winery?

Stay away the lamb shanks, they were so hard and rubbery what little meat was on them couldn't be cut much less bitten off, waitress replaced it with pork and we thought it strange we didn't get the entire pork meal, just a few pieces of pork on a bread plate, and zero management came out to apologize, sad. Won't be back.

This was pretty underwhelming. I noticed when I arrived that this had received a number of Readers Choice Awards, but following my visit, I couldn't understand why. While the wait staff was fine, not overly attentive but not flippant in their duties. We ordered a bottle of the Hellhound Red as memories of it were good, but the vintage (year?) We received was mediocre at best. We initially ordered a Butchers Board, which was very promising, and left me excited for the main course. However, the excitement soon mellowed into a bit of melancholia, not so much for me, but for my party. I got the KY Pan-fried Chicken which was actually delectable, but others I was with had ordered the flank steak, and they were... disappointed. They were never asked how they would like it cooked, and when the cuts came from the kitchen, they were well done to the point of being hard and chewy. The scallops were also pretty good, but the dish in which they came was rather bland overall.
