june 1, 2019 Dropped into Farmer & Frenchman..upon reading a feature review on Facebook about western Kentucky wineries which i know a very few.. we had drove down from Nky. Failed to call ahead and ask about a reservation, course it was Saturday evening @ when..we arrived and they were having a beautiful wedding by the barn. The hostess was able to get us in.. before the big Saturday night rush..that was predicted....waited awhile to be checked on...was never offered a wine tasting...so we finally inquired from server..the bar was totally full with tasters. we then received some tasting suggestions..ordered dinner and a bottle of wine to take with us.. service come have been better... but glad we got to try this winery and restaurant.

Husband took me on a date and I am so impressed!! We will definitely be back!!

We sat outside and the atmosphere was great with a lovely sunset. We had a group of four and ate family style. My favorite was the baked eggplant and the pasta special with spinach and mushrooms over their garlic spaghetti sauce.

Bruce Pettyjohn

We were there for a wedding. What a disaster. First of all it was a very hot and humid day. The reception was in a barn with no air conditioning and inadequate fan ventilation. The appetizers were cheap and poorly made. The dinner for the nearly 100 guests was delivered slowly. Most guest did not have food while the others finished. The food was loaded with garlic and most of it was inedible. Bread seem to be their food of choice and it was poorly made. If you want to have a memorable Wedding by all means go here everybody will have bad memories.

Kellen Koewler

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at this beautiful place last month and it was a DREAM! It was just the most gorgeous setting! Katy was so great to work with! We had them cater the wedding as well and the food was delicious! My husband and I have been regular customers of the restaurant and we will continue to be forever! I LOVE that we get to come back to our wedding venue and enjoy the views, food and wine over and over again!! We absolutely love this place! If you are thinking of booking Farmer & Frenchman for your wedding- please just do it!

Going to Farmer and Frenchman is always a treat for me and my wife. The staff and owner is very friendly and helpful. It's a beautiful location with simple gourmet food. Most importantly, they have a unique selection of dry wines. Where else can you find a Chardonnay from Burgundy on a wine list in the area? A tasting of 5 is $6.

1st time. Was there with Niagara school was delicious food will definitely be back again. Beautiful place

Loved this wonderful winery... Food was fabulous, setting is awesome. We ate on the porch - but there is seating inside. Service was great. We will definitely return. I recommend to all.

Long overdue 1st experience. Definitely recommend. Incredible job for the Hydro Christmas Party tonight.

We visited for the first time last night for a birthday celebration and everyone had a fabulous time! The food and wines were delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our table had 2 apps, 2 pizzas, filets (special), seafood risotto (special), chocolate mousse, and the best Creme Brulee ever! We sat inside but it was a beautiful night to enjoy their cafe-lit patio overlooking the farm. We definitly plan to return (if only for that Creme Brulee)!! Our service was fantastic and the owners were very present as well. We even had a Frenchman photobomb!

7/1/17 Our friends brought us to this darling establishment. The food was amazing red sauce, bread, salads, shrimp, steak, and wine was delicious. A Wedding was going on outside. This place has it all going on. They could use a larger sitting area outside because you just don't want to leave.

Yvonne Schambach

What a gem we found in this establishment. Great owners, employees and the food was fabulous as well not to forget the wine...Oh yes the wine was délicieux. Will be coming here again and sending all our friends and family. Oh yes...we brought home some botles of wine as well

Anila Abraham

Beautiful place to visit locally. They also offer bed and breakfast service.

I went here for the first time with friends. I would say that this place has a trendy atmosphere--somewhere to take a date or small group of intimate friends. I had the Italiano panini, and split the Charcuterie and garlic knots with three other people. They were out of the blackberry and blueberry wine, which is a top seller if you like sweet wines. The strawberry was pretty good. I couldn't finish my panini and brought half of it home with me (good portion size for the value). It is a bit of a drive to this restaurant, because it is in a secluded area and they do have places that people can rent on the property. The people in my party have ate here numerous times and have told me that the owners are very hardworking people. The husband is from France and his wife is the Farmer. You should ask for their unique story when you visit. All in all it was a good experience and great service.

We made reservations for 2 and arrived a few minutes early. No one greeted us and we awkwardly had to speak with the bartender to be seated. We sat for 15 minutes before we were offered water and given menus. We then waited another 15 minutes for the waiter to return to our table. When asked what his recommendations were, his response was "our menu says everything we have." I then asked what pasta dish was delicious, and he stated "I don't eat pasta." When asked a recommendation for an appetizer he referred us to page 4 and walked away. We ordered an overpriced and underwhelming appetizer, and wine and sat for an additional 30 minutes waiting for refills and to place an order. We finally asked another waitress for our check, and left after being there an hour and a half without ever ordering our entree. It's a shame that such a beautiful venue had such poor staff and customer service. I would have loved to have tried the entrees, but we didn't want to waste anymore time or money.

We had a reservation. First time to visit. The wine was delicious. My chicken alfredo was great. My husband, however, was disappointed with his spaghetti. There was not much sauce and his meatballs were hard and dry. The dessert was great. The atmosphere was nice. Enjoyed walking around the grounds.

Great experience--the food and wine were fantastic. The staff and hosts were amazing as well--very knowledgeable and friendly. We'll definitely be back!

Unsure of enterance Location. Food good.. but no Lamb or Beef on menu. The hours between 3-5 more for restaurant reset than taking care of customers. Wine good, selection good, but overpriced tasting with no help or knowledgeable assistance. No pallet clense offered. Just average!!! But probably won't return. Service at table wonderful, but service at tasting not so wonderful.

Matt Kinder

My wife and I were not pleased with our visit at all. We paid for a VIP event only to be met with rude service, overpriced drinks, no wine tastings available and disappointing food. We will stick to the other wineries in the area.

M Lentz

We were just recently visiting family in Sebree, Kentucky when one of my cousins suggested having lunch at this place. Everything about it was charming and wonderful! The decor was a nice combination of rustic and artsy. The food was unique and very good! The service was great and the owner was very approachable, down to earth and pleasant. There was a nice, endearing article on the wall by the restrooms describing the story of the Farmer and Frenchman. There were only a couple of things I would like to see changed. One, is that there is no covering over the porch/patio eating area. The other, is that a soda or tea comes in a can or bottle so there were no free refills. Other than that, I would highly recommend the Farmer and Frenchman and I would certainly be frequenting this restaurant if I lived in the area.

Very disappointed. Made reservations a week in advance for my boyfriends birthday. It’s October and I took a reservation for 8:00pm inside. I spoke to a man with a heavy accent. He offered if I come earlier at 7:30 we could possibly have outside seating weather permitting. I live in Carmel Indiana and my boyfriend in Evansville Indiana. On the day of our reservation they left a voicemail saying it would be too chilly for our dinner reservation. I called the restaurant and the girl advised me that our reservations were for outside all along. There was no longer any available tables indoors leaving us without a dinner reservation the day of my boyfriends birthday! The customer service was completely unacceptable and they just didn’t care. It’s too bad when a local business treats locals like they don’t matter.

Just awful service. I sat at our table for at least 10 minutes before anyone approached me. I went up to the bar and ordered a drink and got a reply of "your server will take your order". Another 10 minutes went by before anyone approached us. Menu and food were average at best. Not worth it

My brother used this venue for his wedding. The two tiny air conditioners in the barn were not enough to cool it. Purchased a dozen fans & it was 89 degrees inside. The wedding cake melted & started sliding apart. The older folks including our dad had to leave right after the wedding due to the heat. This venue would be great in cooler weather but for a summer event, it is disastrous.

The location was easy to find and quite beautiful. Last evening was my first experience here, having made reservations for outdoor seating. The weather didnt cooperate as it started to rain, the staff was quite helpful and secured us covered seating. I ordered the New york strip medium rare, which was one of their specials . The beef was overcooked, closer to well than medium, and in my opinion not that great a cut of beef. I do consider myself an expert in beef as i purchase organic whole beef cattle for my personal consumption. The remaining portion of our dinner was excellent including the apple tart, however this is basic beef 101, dont sell poor cuts of meat, anddont over cook it.

The service is getting worse. I had a seafood bake, one tiny lobster, one shrimp, one scallop on the plate. It was 26 dollars for the small amount of food and mediocre preparation. And I can tell they are not good at seafood. If u go there, try something else on the menu. I can tell why they didnt have seafood menu before.

We celebrated our 49th anniversary at the Farmer and the Frenchman Winery on Friday and we really enjoyed our first visit there. The food is wonderful and the wine is extremely good. Everyone was friendly and the service was great. Can't wait to go back!

If I could give it 6 stars I would. This place is amazing! The food, the service, the wine...everything! If you haven't been here yet, make a reservation soon. They will not disappoint.

Jason Butler

Best chicken parmesan I have ever had. Absolutely perfect. I loved it that the chicken wasn’t sitting on top of the noodles and sauce as all that does is make the bottom of the chicken soggy. The ziti salta Blanca was also amazing. Generous amounts of portobello mushrooms. We had got the garlic knots with marinara sauce as well. The tomatoes in the sauce tasted as they were just picked from the garden. Glass of 1895 was spectacular. The glass of sweet white was also fantastic. Thanks for helping my wife and I celebrate our 15th anniversary in style!

Food and drinks was fantastic which is why I gave it 4. The service was not good. 15 minutes sitting at our table and never heard a word from our waitress. Ended up getting waited on by someone who was not a waiter. No idea where our actual waiter was. The stand-in did what she could and I commend her efforts. After most of the place cleared out and everything was done, they were finally attentive to our table. But the food was great so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that maybe the waitress was having on off night. We'll try it again.

I love this place. We were on a road trip and so happy that we stumbled on his gem. The food is awesome. The service is just as good. We had a manager and the owner stop at our table and it shows that they care how their customers are doing. A bonus is that they are also pet friendly on the patio, which was a deal breaker for us as we had our dog with us. Would definitely return!!!

Nicole Nicholson

I had an enchanting long weekend that was too short for me! The welcome was so warm, I felt at home in this beautiful winery! Country chic with a NYC soho loft feeling in the B&B. The food very good! And the wine so delicious ! Love it!! I will go back ASAP!

Sarah Szurek

Delicious food, attentive service, amazing venue! Good for families and for couples looking for something a little special. The staff were great and answered all of my questions about what wine to get. Love this place!

I live out of state and went to Farmer and Frenchman Winery and Cafe for the first time yesterday for lunch. I was definitely impressed and will now make it a tradition to go when in the area. The grounds are stunning and quite picturesque. Ample parking available to accommodate even the busiest of days. The ambiance and decor is perfectly fitting for a winery with just the right amount of rustic. Lightning is sufficient. Tables are adequately spaced to allow for more private conversations, if so desired. I indulged in the garlic rolls and feta’s pizza (with no onion or olives). Both were wonderful! Cooked to perfection! Prices were modestly priced! Our server, Ben, was attentive and polite as was the owner and general manager. It was evident that they take much pride in the establishment. I would highly recommend this location.

First and foremost, this venue was stunning! Katy and her husband, Hubert, were absolutely amazing throughout the entire wedding process. My wife and I had a very detailed oriented way we envisioned our wedding day; the F&F at first were slightly hesitant as they had never done anything like we were asking (open bar, 3 option plated meals to a party of 150 people). Throughout the entire process, communication was open and honest and after a few phone conversations, F&F made our dreams come true and were able to get EVERYTHING WE WANTED and envisioned!! They went out of their way to make this such a perfect event for us! . Everything turned out perfect! It was their first time doing a sit down plated meal for 150 guests. Some guests did have to wait longer than others for their food but the staff did their best and everyone got great/hot food. Regardless of the venue or restuarant, obviously not all 150 guests can be served at once! The venue is magical! A few of our guests thought they where in a vineyard in Tuscany (apologies Hubert we know you are from France, and have lovely vineyards, just reporting what the guest said). Now there is a review here that was written by one of our guests that reflects poorly on the Farmer and Frenchman, and I would like to state that my wife and I wholeheartedly disagree with. A few complaints this particular guest had we were aware of (slow service) service was excellent it was slightly slow but still excellent. When Hubert (the owner) saw that the bar line was long, he rolled up his sleeves and started serving drinks to my guest. I than saw his wife running around to make sure our guest were comfortable and having everything they needed. Hubert was also serving food and prepping the plates. If my guest thinks the appetizers were cheap that is not on the Farmer and Frenchman as those are the apps we chose and we absolutely loved them. Now complaining about the weather is nothing the F&F can do about. It was a very hot day (hottest day of the year Heat index of 110) but there is nothing you can do about that. Complaining about the heat is like complaining about the rain, the venue is not responsible for providing fans or tents in case of rain. The barn had ceiling fans, and two AC units running, however we (Bride and Groom) decided to have an outside June wedding in Southern Indiana/Northern Kentucky and keep all the barn doors open and knew this would make the barn very hot, but we decided the look was far more important. There was a nice breeze that came through the barn when the doors were open. Overall we had a wonderful experience, it seems as if all our guest except for one had a wonderful time. Top 5 wedding of all time from a few of our guests. Would I have another event at F&F absolutely, would i recommend it for another wedding, ONLY IF YOU WANNA HAVE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE

Last night was our third visit to Farmer and Frenchman. I must say our first experience going was not a positive one, but wanted to be sure before reviewing them that I got an accurate impression before just throwing something out there. My husband and I ate dinner there last night and I must say the meal and service we're both excellent. (Our server name was Tim)... He occasionally stopped by our table to see if we needed anything but didn't make a pest of himself. (There's a balance between being annoying and being helpful) Plus, he was kind enough to pour our wine when needed. And the previous time we were there our server also did very well without being over a attentive.

Idea & atmosphere is perfect in Kentucky. Beautiful setting looking over The Farm. We hope you have much success. Reservation for 4 for a Tuesday at 7pm. Arrived at 6:55pm. Went to the Bartender as not sure who to tell we had arrived for our reservation. ...And they had no table for us. After about 10min we grabbed an outside table when available. It was cool August night & we had not dressed for outside. The outside male waiter was very friendly. Aware of us, he was on to getting us a table inside & an order for a bottle of wine while we waited. Took about 20min to get menus inside. Waitress took our order by about 8:20pm. Ordered a second bottle of wine for dinner. I was excited to have a version of beef bourguignon. It was delishious. We were the last order in so waitress said they substituted potatoes for mashed. Oh well, no big deal. (After 2 bottles of wine I'd never have known!). Customers disappeared by the time we were finishing eating & cleaning had started furishly all around us. All said, wine & food for all was really good & we will return. Next time just one bottle of wine and going early enough to order dessert.

Ron Johnston

Dropped in on a Friday afternoon for our second visit here. The hostess seemed offended we hadn't made a reservation. She kept fumbeling with her book checking her watch saying it's best to have a reservation. We wondered what the problem was as there were so many empty tables. We were seated and then left waiting and waiting. Finally got water and later they took our order. Much later our delicious pizzas came out. As we got them we asked for to go boxes. We had spent too much time here already. We ate a slice each and left this now half empty place. We have two restaurant managers in the family and I think they can't make out an employee roster without knowing exactly who is coming in. We were treated rudely. Done with this uppity place.

Tom Millay

We had reservations at 7pm on Friday night. It took 20 minutes to get the bread knotts! And we didn't get our food until 8:30!! While the atmosphere was very nice I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends. Service was terrible--no one offered any explanation other than to say they were having problems in the kitchen. They did not offer even a complimentary dessert for such a long wait on the food. When we got our food it was just OK--nothing special. My first and last time!

Kaitie Harris

This place was great! We were in town last weekend visiting friends and they made a reservation here for dinner on Saturday. We got there about 30 minutes early and enjoyed a bottle of merlot at the bar while we waited for our table. I loved the indoor area it was beautiful and the bar staff was friendly. We got seated 5 minutes early at our table out on the deck area, I was glad we sat outside because the views are great! My husband and I ordered the charcuterie, a small Greek, a small Ceaser salad, and the Ziti Bolognese to split. Everything was delicious and I thought it arrived in a timely manner. I look forward to visiting again when we come back to Henderson.

Delicious bolognese and unique house salad dressing. But spaghetti dish was lukewarm when it arrived. Waiter could have been a bit more polished. Did not bring change as requested so that I could leave an appropriate tip. Little things add up, so would suggest more staff training in order to elevate the full experience.
