The place is nice, but the wine and beers I tried weren't very good. The wine was some kind of red blend, way too sweet, and had a metallic taste to it? Like when you taste blood? Kinda like that, like iron. The beers were dull. They all tasted similar, and had no real characteristic to them at all. My favorite was the....you know, I don't remember what it was, but it was kinda tangy. Anyway, don't drive to Grafton just for this place. There are better wineries and microbreweries closer to home.

Our friends from northern Illinois stopped by on the way to Arizona. Our friend is a wine lover and wanted to visit the Grafton Winery in Grafton, Illinois. We have been there a couple of years ago. It was a fantastic day to go. There wasn't a crowd and our server Pam was great. We ordered 4 shares plates: Winery Nachos, Roasted tomato &Goat cheese Crostinis, Winery Sampler, and Charcuterie for Two. We had a bottle of apple crisp wine with the food. What a fantastic day. A great view of the Mississippi, a sunny day, great food and fantastic friends!!

The wine wasn't to my taste and the counter help at the tasting center was on the rude side. But the band was excellent and the view amazing

Arrived 6:13 tonight, thought it would be nice to end the weekend with a boat ride and dinner at the winery. Six employees behind the bar cleaning and closing a register, waited to order and found a table. Employees stacking chairs and prepping for close while we ate, quickly, since we certainly did not feel welcome?! If you close at 7:00, might try not to make your customers feel so unwelcome. Disappointing business practice.

The rooftop was a nice view

We had high hopes that the Grafton (IL) Winery and Brewhaus Restaurant would give us a good view of the Mississippi, good drinks and good food. No such luck. The view was just OK from the street side deck (maybe would have been better from the other deck but there was a wedding party going on and we're not wedding crashers). Still, the biggest disappointments were the beer and the food. There was no table service that evening (on a Friday night?) but I don't mind toting a couple of beers or food. The Brewhaus had a Pilsner and a Wheat on tap so I ordered those. I also asked for a sample of the red ale. Boy was I surprised when it came out of the same tap as the "pilsner". I didn't like the sample at all as it was not cold, not foamy, and not good. Actually, the same thing goes for the full glasses I ordered. There was virtually no carbonation and, don'tcha know, no kick either. I really could not decide whether the beer had gone flat or never developed any alcohol and natural carbonation in the first place. Bad, bad, bad. We ordered a couple of burgers that came with home-made potato chips. The burgers were well-done and really a bit overcooked (crunchy). But the bread-and-butter pickles on the burgers were terrific and so were the home-made chips. The SW Burger came with some onion rings and they were really good. Did not try the wine outselves but several guests at the Pere Marquette Lodge we met at breakfast said the wine was undrinkable. Google + reviews of the place from 2 years ago were good but that was not our experience at all.

5 wine tastings for $5! Free souvenir tasting glass! Good eats! Live music! Nice hang!

Nice place. Lots of outdoor seating. More limited inside seating. They have a menu and then special items. We had wine, burger and dessert. All of it was really good. We started with seats outside but as the sun went down it cooled off so we moved inside. The downside is you have to order your food from a spot inside and then it is delivered to your table. This means If you have a good spot only a member or two of party can leave to order.

We visited The Grafton Winery and Brewhaus this weekend for our annual Employee Appreciation Dinner Party and had a very lovely experience! Totally worth the 1-2 hour drive made by our staff of 40 most of us coming from the Springfield, IL area. I had a great time planning the dinner with Sue Rongey, she made the planning experience a delight! I really wanted the dinner to be unique and Sue and Chef Jason went above and beyond to make that happen! Everyone loved our kabob themed 4 course wine pairing dinner! Chef Jason did a fantastic job with his expertise & creations! We showed up early for appetizers and drinks and enjoyed tasting the different wines and beers with wonderful service from bartenders Jason and Kelci. When we moved on to dinner Chef Jason and Sous Chef Nick served our dinner and gave a nice explanation of what we would be eating and what wine we would be enjoying with each course. We had an absolutely amazing experience and we can't wait to come back! I asked for everyone's names at the end of the party because I hope they all know what an outstanding job they did! :) Thank you all for making this one of the best parties we have ever had! Everything was so wonderfully orchestrated we all got to sit back, relax and enjoy the party together.

Visited on a very busy Saturday. A mix of a local running event and a wine club. Very low key, order at the counter and they bring it to your table. Menu was sandwiches, salads, soups, burgers small plates, and a few featured items. My soup and wrap were excellent, my companion enjoyed her quite large salad. Of course as a winery and brew house the respective lists are rather extensive. The large open decks pace was closed on the cold December day we were there. Large overhead doors appear to open the entire space when the weather is favorable.

More of a bar then a winery. Okey food cheap wine. A good place for a get together just not my cup of tea or should I say wine.

This is one of my favorite places to eat and drink wine. We sometimes just come to pick up the seasonal wine. Atmosphere is great and the people are always friendly.

Love, love, love Grafton Winery! Mike and Lori are wonderful. Great Wine for whatever your taste is. And good food! A one stop shop for Wine, Food and entertainment!

LaTosha Walker

The staff treated us like VIP guests. I will most definitely be back. The food was delicious and the service was amazing.

Janessa Williamson

The food was fantastic and the service was even better! They were slow the day we went and it was a bit cold, but the server didn't seem to mind that we sat outside. She checked on us multiple times and took very good care of us.

Great Drive on a Sunday afternoon. I loved their rooftop seating that overlooks the River. There was a great breeze and it was a relaxing atmosphere. They have some awesome wines and friendly staff. I would recomend the grafton winery to anyone looking for a great place to go

Such a disappointing experience. We ordered our food, waited nearly an hour (50 mins) and when we got it, everything was below average. I wanted my burger (which was a $13 burger) medium. That poor thing had been cooked dry beyond oblivion. When the food finally did come out, no one apologized about the wait. My wife's beer had a vinager type after taste- it was a red ale, no tart. Their lines need to be cleaned I think. An hour wait, for a below average meal, at way above average prices. Grafton Winery needs improvement.

My wife wanted to visit, to help support the recovery of the local economy, following the recent flood. My biggest disappointment was the Catfish Sandwich. While the menu description was pretty typical, "Hand breaded and deep fried boneless catfish fillet served with tartar sauce, pickles, onions on a baguette", what I received was an average piece of fish on some over-toasted olive focaccia, with lots of onion and not much tartar sauce. It was probably the worst catfish sandwich that I've ever had. That said, the rest of our party seemed to enjoy their food.

Excellent wine and entertainment with a great view of the river!

I really like the atmosphere, casual but still nice. It was perfect for us with my two year old, you order your food at the front and pay right there and the food comes out really fast and then you can just go when you need to. The patios are really nice and it was a gorgeous day when we went. The burgers were delicious, the bread was a little cold but other than that we got the brewhouse burger and it was amazing. Definitely going to come back with friends.

If the weather is warm, sit outside and enjoy a great view of the Mississippi River from the upper deck. The wine and beers are good, nothing outstanding, but it is a fun place for a large group to hang out.

Leslie Wolpert

My boyfriend and I visited here on our weekend away in Grafton. I sampled the wine and the beer. The beer was better in my opinion. The bartender at the Winery was a hoot! We could have sat and visited with him all day long. This is a great place and we'd visit here again.

The wine is fine & the food is good and the service is good, what more can I say.Give a try you'll be glad you did.

Beer was terrible my homebrew is of better quality. My girlfriend however said the wine was good.

venomousZ28 Vette

not to bad, got the white fish sandwich, usually pretty good but this time think the oil was older or something

My sisters and I went last night for wine and dinner. (The food was fine, but) the service was beyond awful. 1. My sister was waiting to order a glass of wine for me. She was overlooked, not once but 3 times. 2. The bar servers specifically said they'd send someone out to help with our order. It was 20 minutes later, and they were not busy. Thank goodness the view is amazing, the company was great, we met some very nice people, and we enjoyed the food.

Grafton Winery is one of my favorite places to go. Love the chicken carbonara, add a glass of Captains Blush and I'm set! They have live bands on select weekends during the summer as well as some winter months, and yes...a LIVE band can be loud...add a group there to support the band and it gets even louder. That being said, I also go in the winter to sit with my hubby by the fire and just relax. So depending on the day, time and season, you get a nice mix of life for everyone! They must be doing something right they usually have a crowd! To the person who said Loading Dock is better...REALLY?! They have very differnet atmospheres from each other. I prefer the Grafton Winery, the Loading Dock is just another BAR.

Ate here for a late lunch on 5/23. I had the buffalo chicken wrap and my wife had the chicken caeser wrap, both came with a side of homemade potato chips. Wraps were delicious and filling, chips were good but we would have preferred fries or Lays potato chips instead. The staff was friendly but definitely understaffed for the amount of customers eating. Took over 25 minutes to receive our food and had to stand in line to get a refill on our drinks. Overall, it was a pleasant lunch on a nice day.

Doug Brown

We don't get out much, and when we do, we don't want to be disappointed. We can count on The Winery being open when we suddenly have a moment to get out. The service is friendly, view terrific, and the food consistently tasty with new dishes introduced almost every visit. I'm hard to budge off their fine hamburgers.

Nancy Marshall

Charcuterie for Two describes a selection of ...artisanal Cheese. Since when did Colby jack become classified as an artisan cheese. Eat elsewhere. Come for the music.

Edwin Penfold

Love this place and today they had my favorite performing Duo, Scott and Karl. Great music and venue.

Decided to try for Alton restaurant week....so happy we did ! Got the prime rib sandwich , it was so good. Great portion and Very good flavor. Came with flash fried chips and a beer, wine or soda for $10. Out standing atmosphere and views. Our waitress Ashley was perfect. Highly recommend Grafton Winery & Brewhaus. ! The drive up is outstanding.

Neal Darr

Wine isn't terrible, however the service takes forever. Lines are long and food comes out randomly. Need a water, go to the bar. Good for wine tasting, avoid for everything else!

Tim Lamke

Good food and beer and wine, and live music is nice. Nice outdoor patios, small shop for gifts

Justin Brueggemann

Stopped in for a bite to eat, and to try some of the beers they produce on site. They brew 9 beers, and since I'm not typically an IPA or Stout drinker, it made it easy to narrow it down to one of their 6 selection flights. The beers were good, and the bleu cheese burger was amazing. If you want a typical winery atmosphere, I recommend checking out their establishment up the hill - The Vinyards. The only reason I have to take a star is due to the fact our food order was somehow not put in. After waiting a while (our friends were half way through their meal) and finally checking on it, they realized the error and got it out right away. I understand accidents happen, but they could have at least comped us a drink or something for the trouble.

We had Alicia as a server. She was awesome! First of all, I don’t know wine AT ALL but she didn’t make me feel stupid, and instead recommended a bunch of different kinds after I told her what I usually buy from the grocery store. I ordered the $5 sampler and she stayed to see how I liked each one, and even gave me two samples free. I didn’t have any of the food, but the service was top notch. Thank you guys & Alicia you are awesome!

Wow we had our sons wedding rehearsal here January 27, 2017, I worked with Sue on it and she was fabulous and fun to work with! Anything I wanted she was willing to work with. We had barbecue brisket and barbecue chicken with corn bread ,baked beans, mac and cheese and a salad. The food was wonderful!!!! We were a little worried because we didn't get a chance to taste test before because we were 6hours away. No worries the room was great! The food was fabulous! And the help was very friendly! Our guests were very pleased. Thank you Sue!

Tom Brooks

Great food! One of our favorite wines!

It was our 16 Year Anniversary yesterday and we decided to go to the Grafton Winery and what a great date! We were met by a very nice lady who helped us find a great area to sit in. Little did we know, when we were leaving, she was the owner. Very nice, with a warm welcoming smile. Thank You for the Dining experience. Everything was great. Note: Peach wine is great....You should try it.

Great atmosphere, super nice people, I had beer.. great choices, comfortable seating, my food was just food.. I ordered onion rings.. would love if they pealed the skin off the onion before the breaded and cooked it.. sauce was delicious, ordered Patty melt.. bread was burnt and had nothing but hamburger on one half.. picked it up and burger was not really on bread.. other peoples food looked and smelled amazing.. will definitely not order same food next time..

I have never had such small, fatty wings before. When I got to the center, the bone was still cold from being recently frozen. I paid $28 dollars without tip to have a dreadful order of 6 wing pieces, a basket of fries, and a small salad. I regret giving it a try! This place is overrated and overpriced.

Lynda Hetlage

Very disappointing. We arrived at 8:15pm. We ordered dinner and and appetizer and were told our appetizer had to be served at the same time as our dinner which was frustrating. Our food was good, although a bit pricey but that's to be expected at a winery. But the staff started putting all the chairs and tables around us away beginning at 8:30. We asked when they closed and were told 9:00pm. It was a Saturday night. So we rushed through our meal while they mopped the floor around us. We will not be returning.

Carol Funches

Really nice romantic place....food and drinks were great

Extremely disappointed in Graftin Winery have visited several times over that past few years. This year saw big change in their menu NOT accommodating to those that are Gluten sensitive. We ate there with my dad who is sever celiac he ordered a plane hamburger no bun it came with their hand made chips, waitress was told he was wheat sensitive and she said she would get him whatever he needed but was NOT knowledgable on what had wheat in it first the hamburger had a wheat filler in therefor my dad got very sick. Second the homemade chips are fried in a common basket and was put with the plane burger. The only thing listed in menu was a chef salad but they could not tell you which where GF. We could not eat there again so they not only lost 2 people but lost a family of 8. They need to strongly educate wait staff and kitchen and improve menu to stay in business. There are to many people that have food allergies not to be more knowledgeable.

Christopher Smith

With food wine and a brew house with great scenery this is a nice place

Kevin Wuthrich

No order. Complete chaos. Employees didn't know if they were coming or going. Everyone being rushed to pick a wine. Wine was good but not worth dealing with being rushed.
