We visit Alto at least twice a year while in Carbondale. Alto is our last stop on the trail after beginning at Russel Hill. Norton, Dawg House, and Rocko Red are our favorite table wines so we are sure to stock up. The Oaked Chardonel is great when we make a rotisserie chicken on the grill. Service is good and the people are friendly.

Well worth the drive especially for an event of which Betty and Desiree are the gracious hostesses. I have been coming here for almost 20 years and it is absolutely amazing the events (salsa dance, music, fashion show, benefits, concerts, yoga, etc) they now put on. My dad's favorite wine was Heartland Red so I always grab him a bottle. Mine tends to the Rock Red but now that they have Sangria. Good Wisconsin cheese curds

The wine at Alto Vineyards is without a doubt the best in Southern Illinois. It is about time that they break ground and build a larger tasting room, which by the way is far from the grassy area, gazebo and pavilion where weddings take place. This family business has friendly and very helpful employees. I strongly support the addition of a new tasting room over accommodating one demanding person.

Love, love, love this place! Contemporary and clean! Fireplace, good seating and great wine selection. There is a map of the grounds so you can walk around an see the vineyard and seating options outside. You cant help but love this place!

Amazing service and vineyard! We were allowed to bring in our dog (leashed and well behaved!) because it was hot and they weren't busy. Wine was wonderful. Patio was wonderful. Inside was wonderful. Just go and enjoy!!

A wonderful view and great wine. It's probably the farthest away from my husband and I's home but it's worth the drive to us! We've had the best times here and the cheese and crackers are great too! Maybe the best wine in So.IL. Customer service has always been good!

Staff was very helpful and had great suggestions for wines I may like based on what I told them I enjoyed in the past. Lots of selections and tastings are reasonably priced. The ambience is laid back and friendly. Everything is very clean and easily accessible. Overall a very good experience.

We've only been to three of the wineries on the wine trail so far, but this is by far the nicest. Spacious and modern, but also cozy. The bartender we had was very knowledgeable about the wines. They also have cats who are actually friendly. A+

Happened upon this place just driving through Illinois from the sign on the road. Glad we stopped. The wine tasting was fun and informative and our hostess was very nice! It was great sitting on the porch with our wine smoothies as well just relaxing. A must stop!

We love stopping at Alto. The weather was great and we sat out on the veranda overlooking the vineyard. Talking with other guests is alway fun too. Combined with great wine and staff, what can you say.

Attended a fundraiser for local animal rescues in southern Illinois. The event was not well-attended but may be because there was an admission charged. The buildings are well-kept and staff was attentive.

It's my favorite winery. Only complain we were there last weekend to hear Corey Evitts and we sat on the patio . But he was now in the gazebo down in the back and it was hard to hear him. I have been there several times and never seen anyone perform there. .
