10 months ago, I had a simple goal - to move to Hawaii and become more fish than man. During my quest, I have heard the words, "this place has the best poke ever” numerous times. My optimism drowned any realistic interpretation of these words and I found myself going to these places only to be disappointed by the high-priced mediocre poke. That was until my roommate, bless her heart, told me about Tamura’s poke. We pulled up, and I was surprised to see it was a liquor store. I was skeptical but trusted my roommate. We walked in and in the back, there it was, the ahi poke with Tamura’s special sauce. After tasting it and consulting with the world’s best scientists, I have concluded it is the best poke I have found so far.

First time here and I love this store but hate there parking. From Waialae Ave you can only turn right into the parking lot. And it's a hassle to to left onto the parking lot from 10th Avenue. Parking is very limited, but you'll find exotic and everyday liquor, wine and beer.

Phenomenal selection of wines, spirits, beers, specialty foods, and POKE. After picking your choice of beverage, head back to the poke counter on the right side after you enter the store. Try the poke with Tamura sauce and inamona poke. So ono. Once you have the fresh tuna, it's hard to go back to the kine frozen stuff.

Wonderful variety of liquor. Any questions you have, they'll most likely have an answer for. Bf loves his IPA beers and they have really good recommendations as long as you know kinda what you want. The only complaint that i might have is that there are too many choices, but then, that's not really a complaint, is it? Also, I love my malbecs and they have never failed for me.

This shop has everything! The prices are extremely good and, more importantly, the proprietors really know what they're talking about and are happy to help. We walked int o purchase cocktail, wine, and beer supplies for a 60 person party. We're not professional party planner's by any stretch and that was no problem: by the time we walked out we had everything we needed, we were excited by all of our amazing choices, and we came in under budget. Thank you Tamura's for helping two newbs along so well!

This is one of my favourite stores for purchasing liquor - especially champagne which is my weakness. They have an amazing selection of champagnes and their prices are pretty good too! I also love to frequent the deli counter for a pound or 2 of their kimchi clams, and a visit to the ice box for some cheese, French butter and other goodies that they have here. If your looking for my husband you will find him pursuing the cigar and whiskey section. ❤️

Great selection of alcoholic beverage and cigars at reasonable prices. They sell a variety of local products in the chill case near the poke counter. The local salsa is AMAZING! But STAY AWAY from the "Taro Delight" brand dips etc. I had foodborne illness after eating 2 of those containers, and the first time I bought it, it spoiled in a matter of days. Their poke counter has some great flavors, offering poke made from either fresh or previously frozen fish. Try the pipikaula-- they've nailed that sauce, it's my favorite around.

I consider this to be a very high quality store...so i am confused by my experience yesterday. I always sample poke before i buy it....i sampled the fresh ahi limu..very fresh and not slimy at all...so i bought some $18.99 a pound. A few minutes later i ate my poke....so slimy ! Gross

I do like Tamura's very much; and if I take the hour or so to get there from where I live it is always, generally, successful. However, I called, silly me, and asked if they had any Christmas wines, like from Germany. The person who answered the telephone was not very helpful and didn't offer me any names or product. Then, she said they didn't have any and she in a lack lustre fashion said she didn't have any suggestions...well, I thought of one after I hung up....Whole Foods Kahala!! You know, I was gone from Hawai'i for 20+ years before I decided to come home, I had been raised here. And, again, silly me I thought that there might be some level of sophistication....but there ain't none...I from time to time wonder if I should return to England Brexit and all...

If you're wanting a GOOD wine or beer, (domestic or imported), at probably the best price in Honolulu... Tamura is where you want to go. Their selection is ginormous and their staff are knowledgeable and cool. They also have these reviews posted around by the product, in case you want to try something new. Oh, and they have some good chocolate, but I and American Spirit smokes as well. (They may have some cigars as well, but I would call about them first. Enjoy!

Some of the best poke on the island imo. I always enjoy coming here to pick up poke for parties and gatherings. Their prices are right around market pricing but they have different flavors and their fish, both frozen and fresh, are always soooo good. I love the ginger, inamona, and the ninja poke!

Hands down one of the best and freshest poke on the island, with a wide range of varieties to choose from! However, with my experience at the Wai'alae location the staff work very slow to just get you a poke bowl. Expect to wait in line during peak times.

This store is awesome! They have a large selection of beer, liquor, wine, sake and much more. I love that they have new, and seasonal beer coming in regularly. This is a one stop shop for any alcohol. The staff is friendly, parking is free and normally available however, during high traffic hours expect to wait for parking.

They have top notch poke here. I've bought at least 10 different varieties from Tamura's and everything has been good. One of my favorites that I have not seen elsewhere is the crawfish. Both the wasabi and the spicy versions are great.

Always an awesome spot to grab some poké and booze. Recent visit left with bad vibes. Needed help finding a particular whiskey. After spending a few minutes in the Whiskey aisle, i searched for an associate. Since no associate was on the floor, i went to the cashiers for help. Two cashiers, it wasn't busy, there was no line, it wasn't closing time. Must've interrupted an awesome conversation because they made no attempt to help at all, just told me "We probably don't have it". Couldn't call for an associate, couldn't look it up nor offer an alternative. Awesome.

My visits have been met with mixed success. The beer selection could be improved I have been to less specialized stores with a slightly wider selection of non-generic stuff. Plenty of main-stream choices, a few growing in popularity, but mainly just the known stuff. Not good for picking up a new/seasonal brew from your favorite micro-brewery. The cider selection seems to be either constantly sold out of the good stuff or is never restocked. Wine selection is decent. I usually buy $12-$25 bottles from Costco though. Last visit the whole store smelled of slightly too old fish... So very unappealing and I did not opt to browse, just grabbed something small and checked out.

If you're looking for wines or spirits, this is the place to go to. Their selection is impressive and covers all budgets. You'll even find some very rare wines that are hard to find. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything is reasonably priced and there are always some special offers. They also have a very nice selection of cigars.

Easily my favorite place in Kaimuki! If you like alcohol and poké it's pretty much heaven... Fantastic wine selection. Decent selection of spirits at a good price. Good selection of beer. Especially craft and Belgian style beer. But their poke shop in the back is what I love the most. Their poke is arguably the best on the South shore, if not the whole island. Giant poke bowls for $10... How can you not love Tamura's!?

Out on this island, everyone seems to think the only place for reasonably priced alcohol is Costco. Well, they're only half right. I stumbled upon this location by accident while taking my daughter to dance class (right next store). Color me pleasantly surprised. Not only is there a great selection of everything, but it isn't very expensive either. This might give me a minus from beer enthusiasts, but it is one of a very few locations that carries Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Yum!
