It's obvious that everyone on staff at the Cottage cares about visitors, but Caroline is an especially attentive host. She's always willing to answer our questions and to offer suggestions on nearby dining. After a long day of hiking, we love visiting the Cottage, buying a bottle of the Meritage wine , and enjoying the incredible mountain views from the patio. We'll definitely be back for many visits in the future!

The property is gorgeous and the inside of the The wine tasting building was warm, friendly and bigger than I would have thought. We had a blast with too tall Nathan and Jim. Wine was pick 8 tastes for 10 dollars. Great choices to choose from. I highly recommend this as a fun stop on the trail.

Of the local wineries we visited, The Cottage was the friendliest by far. Others had a cold corporate feel, with an emphasis on sales, not the experience. We are planning to return here to renew our vows on our silver anniversary. Cheers to our friends at The Cottage.

We took part in a very knowledgeable wine tasting before picking a glass to take outside and and enjoy while taking in the absolutely stunning views. This was the absolute highlight of our weekend! If you are anywhere in North Georgia, go by The Cottage Vinyard. You'll talk about it for years to come!

A little piece of heaven right here. The views from the tasting room are absolutely amazing. There is also a veteran memorial on top of the hill, honoring service members from all branches of the military. Oh, and the wine is awesome.

Absolutely stunning views, a broad tasting menue from with several sweet wines, a few whites on the dryer side, and a nice collection of Reds. The family clearly puts a lot of love into their wines, which really comes through. They also make wine-slushies in peach and sangria, which are fantastic and not too sweet either. The views are beautiful with pleanty of outside seating to enjoy them. The inside is cozy, with big windows to admire the views from shelter and air conditioning. Not luxurious, but welcoming and wonderful. Would return again, or order online.

As a retired Army vet I had to make this my first stop as the owner is retired Air Force and has a monument dedicated to our military. The owners, Jim and Sandra, have done a wonderful job carving out their winery from the forested foothills near Cleveland. My wife and I enjoyed the family atmosphere during our wine tasting. We left as members of their wine club and almost a case of wine. I highly recommend them as your first stop on your wine tour of the area. The view from their property is fantastic.

First thing when driving up the hill to The Cottage parking area, the scene opens up to a wonderous view of the mountains all around you. The wine tasting room is set up beautifully and the staff is very vino knowledgeable and super friendly. Wines to taste are chosen wisely. After choosing your wine you can retreat out onto the patio and enjoy sipping while feeling the gentle breeze and taking in that awesome view.

The Cottage is easily my favorite winery near Dahlonega. Besides having a sweet blueberry wine, spectacular view of Yonah Mountain, a memorial wall with all the armed forces flags, POW flag and American flag and wonderfully down to earth owners in Jim and Sandra, they won my heart with their non-denominational church service on Sundays called Jeans and Jesus. IT IS A MUST ON THE WINERY TOUR.

What a lovely winery! The view is awesome- ranging from Yonah Mountain to Blood Mountain. We wished it had been warmer to sit outside. The wine was also spectacular- better than other wine that we've had in North Georgia. The tasting includes whatever wines you choose from the menu. It's a fun build-your-own experience kind of place. The staff is very friendly. We're excited to go back sometime!

This is where we first tasted Joe Smith's wines, so do yourself a favor and make this the first stop on your wine tour. If you're lucky, you might get to try one of "Too Tall's" sloppy joes, or some other delicious concoction. I had the great fortune to randomly go to The Cottage Vineyard and Winery with my husband and parents yesterday. They are not 'winers' like I am, so they sat down and had a glass of their choice while I did a tasting. (I'm so lucky to have a family who understands and endulges me!) I had been to the winery shortly after they opened and it was nice, but still very new. Boy, have things changed! Owners, Jim and Sandra Penner were both behind the bar providing tastings and both emulated 'passion' about what they were doing. I had the privilege to have Jim provide me with my tasting. He acted like he enjoyed giving the tasting as much as I enjoyed being on the receiving end! He didn't rush me, he answered all of my questions, shared so much information and all of the wines that I chose to taste were very well done. These are essentially new wines, yet they have the taste of wine that has been aged for awhile. I tasted two that had only been bottled three weeks ago and they were already fabulous. I can't wait to go back when they're on the market because I cannot begin to imagine what they will be like after they've aged a bit. I am definitely a new fan and will be back....many, many times in the future!

This is the best view out all vineyards in the area we have visited. So much so we got engaged here. The staff are friendly and down to earth. Their whites are buttery to the taste and the vineyard has a relaxing and laid back vibe. We are excited to watch this place grow and flourish, and this is the spot to visit for North Georgia wine.

My favorite winery in north Georgia, and some of the best wines I have ever tasted. The quaint venue is spectacular, with a huge selection (15-20+) of wines mostly made from estate-grown grapes. 5 wines for $10, or 8 wines for $14. Huge multilevel outdoor space with tons of seating and cornhole, and some of the most beautiful views of the National Forest and Mount Yonah. The owners Jim and Sandra are so fun and really love what they’re doing, and the bartenders are so personable and enthusiastic. Caroline and Kayla are absolute delights! The Cottage is a perfect hidden gem. I have enjoyed coming back time and time again, and will continue to do so!
