Stopped in for a wine tasting last weekend. Great, Great service. Not too crowded for a weekend, and a beautiful area to enjoy a bottle.
Very relaxing. Nice wines.
Great little winery. Good selection and friendly and helpful staff. A+
Great wines, great service, great people. Not possible to have a bad time there. Many fun activities for families and young fun crowds
Great destination for a group of adults, girls night out (or day), and families. I have a two year old and love going with her. The events they put on always cater to all ages while still making it a great time for all. Plus the wine is delicious.
Dog friendly, can bring in your own food, live music
Great wines. Excellent service.
Recently discovered this gem. Pack a picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and amazing wine!
Rainy Day :( small tasting area inside. Looks like a beautiful place to visit when the weather is cooperating.
Loved the wine and chocolate pairing. What a great atmosphere and wonderful service. This is the first time we've done this and it won't be the last.
Great staff! Great time! Great wine!
The experience at Penns Woods is as close as you can get to a visit to Sonoma or Napa - but right here in Pennsylvania! The setting is gorgeous. The tasting room sits on a hill overlooking the vineyards. Wines are outstanding with a friendly knowledgeable staff. There is often live music, different pairings and activities to make return visits a must.
Amazing wine, amazing and knowledgeable server (Alan was so nice!), and really good pairings. To top it all of, the location is just gorgeous and charming. I cannot wait to return!
I went here with a bunch of girlfriends for a chocolate and wine pairing! Such a cozy venue with friendly and speedy service. Highly recommend! They have events happening all the time!
Stopped in for a wine tasting last weekend. Great, Great service. Not too crowded for a weekend, and a beautiful area to enjoy a bottle.
I Happened to get a bottle of the 2009 Ameritage from a wine rep and holy cow was it amazing. I visited soon after and picked up a few bottles after I heard they wouldn't be producing it any longer. I hope I heard that wrong! But either way, all of the wines are good, so I will be back!
We scheduled a wine and cheese tasting recently. The only thing better than the wine was the service. A great place to stop in and wine down on the weekend! Give the pimento spread a try as it was an exceptional pairing and we ended up taking some home.
Cozy warm tasting room with a friendly helpful staff. And the wines are excellent! And there are lots of fun gift ideas in the store! Grounds are beautiful!
Penns Woods wines are delicious, and their winery is beautiful! We've been there a couple of times - the first was on a daytrip to the Brandywine River museum after which we stopped at Penns Woods for a tasting. The staff were attentive, explaining each wine we tried. We also had some delicious bites that they offered which went perfectly with the wines. My favorites are the Merlot and the Chardonnay. I went home with a case which has been perfect to give as house presents this summer. They always seem to have fun events, too. I'd definitely do some of them if I lived closer!
I love this place! Been coming here for almost 4 years. Great place for getting together with friends! Staff is always very nice.
AWFUL: They would not even let our small group onto the property, they are beyond rude and even aggressive, one would say. The experience of going to a winery and enjoying yourself with friends should not be frowned upon - you are a snooty, uptight business and I’ll be sure to let all my wine loving friends know it. Seems odd that You allow dogs and young kids, but not a few close friends. In the end, you did us a favor - for those reading this go to Wayvine for better wine and lovely people who know how to create loyal customers!
Always treated royally by the great staff. Great wine, great setting, easy to visit.
Just became members here a few months ago, and I can tell you that no winery treats it’s members as amazingly as Penns Woods. Went to my first pick up party yesterday and could not believe the lengths they went to to ensure an incredible day for us. On top of that—-their wines are fantastic. Thank you for an great great day.
Penns Woods has always had a nice selection of wines, with friendly staff to boot. The tasting room, in a pretty little farm house, is admittedly a bit small. But the staff is accommodating, and they will open other areas if larger numbers of people show up. The front porch is a nice place to relax with a glass of wine if you are out and about in the Brandywine area. I am a total fan of their more traditional dry wines (love the reserves!), but not so much of the sweeter varieties that they are producing as of late. But hey...everybody has their own preferences, right? Prices are in line with other wineries, as are the tasting fees. If I remember right, if you buy wine after tasting, they will waive the fee (don't hold me to that, but I think that was the practice). I'm amused at some of the remarks I've seen from people about feeling short-changed with tasting fees and light pours. Seriously, wine wasting staff members are similar to other service oriented workers. Talk with them. Be friendly and outgoing. Ask questions. Interact, and they will help you out. Sometimes that means an extra taste of something you want to retry. Not that this is the reason I try to be friendly...but I do feel that people get service that reflects their personality. (Okay...end of rant.) Go visit Penns Woods. It's a nice place!
Love this place. They have a nice open space with live music. My husband and I had a really nice time.Looking forward to visit again to try some more wines.
Simply the best wine around. When you do tastings anywhere else it is always "This is ok. Don't like this. No good. Oh here's a good one." At penns woods this is what it is like "oh that's good. Wow, this is even better. Oh my goodness, this is good too." The only problem is decidng which to buy.
We scheduled a wine and cheese tasting recently. The only thing better than the wine was the service. A great place to stop in and wine down on the weekend! Give the pimento spread a try as it was an exceptional pairing and we ended up taking some home.
OVERPRICED, LOW QUANTITY- it has beautiful scenery, wonderful atmosphere BUT they are extremely stingy when it comes to the quantity of their wine and cheese dishes. It's good wine, but I'd rather just buy a good bottle, sit in my back yard, and save $$$ than spend $20 on half a glass and a nibble of cheese.
Took my girlfriend and had an amazing time. Absolutely beautiful vineyard. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the wines they were serving. There was a food truck and acoustic music while we were there. Top notch Penns Woods!!!!!
Great wines and taste
Great people and wonderful Pa wine. Grab a bottle, spend the afternoon and enjoy the vineyard with friends, old and new. Cheers
I miss this place. Last year we went like 10 times. Very inviting and friendly staff. Great place to go on the weekend if you are not sure what to do. Bring some chairs and listen to some live music. Bring some food snacks and coloring books for the kid's and you can make a day out of it. Can't wait to go back.
Penns Woods Winery is charming! The wine tasting experience was so enjoyable. Your Cabernet was exceptional! We are thrilled to have become members to partake in future wine selections and events. Can’t wait to introduce our friends to the beautiful and friendly atmosphere of Penns Woods Winery!
This place is a gem. So close to civilization, but feels a world away. Back porch, barn and rolling hills provide a beautiful vista for tasting arguably the best wine in the state (true for whites and reds). The family run operation is personal, friendly and fun. Great place for an afternoon gathering with a group or perfect for a casual date. Check their events page - as there is often fun events planned.
Great place to come and have some wine. I had great service and Anna was very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines. I will be back again to try more of their wines and I also will buy some more bottles. I do recommend coming to visit if you haven't been. They also have live music on Saturdays and sometimes they do Yoga.
Fake. Fake. Fake. Terrible service and management. We had a 30 person reservation for 4 weeks and were encouraged to cancel by management the morning of. We didnt call them, they called us. Why? Because it was supposed to rain. This place is terrible. Their staff is ignorant and lazy. I can’t bash the wine because it was fine. They gave a lot of attention to the clients on their front porch, but ignored everyone else. Their “owner” is comfortable with their locals. It’s obvious by their exhausting excuses and dirty looks. The staffs courtesy was disgusting. Keep watching the clock, Penns Woods! 5 star excuses.
Penns Wood Winery is top notch on all regards! Not only is their wine incredible, but their service is on point. You can spend the day at the winery sipping wine, enjoying the view of the vineyard surrounding you. It's a great place to not only spend with your friends but your family as well is welcome. Check out their incredible events they have from yoga to live entertainment! You will always feel welcome at Penns Wood Winery!
Great people and wonderful Pa wine. Grab a bottle, spend the afternoon and enjoy the vineyard with friends, old and new. Cheers
Been a member for 2 years and just got kicked out because we have kids....rubbish family environment. Don’t bother going if you have a family. Today on a warm but rainey Sunday afternoon we went to Penns Wood as we have done for years and as we have done with our two six month old twins for the last 6 months only to be told that we had two options. 1. Sit in the rain on the lawn.... or 2. Sit at a table next to the toilet but no where else was allowed as our quiet happy twins were so offensive. And we were told this was the new status quo so even though we are members and pay over $400 a year we would not be able to enjoy any of the benefits as all of these were to be enjoyed at the house where we and our offensive offspring were not to enter.... obviously the establishment was laughing all the way to the bank.....please rethink your culture, most decent people care for families and enjoy their happiness. And as a result benefit in their and their friends patronage for years to come.
If you have a mixed pallet this is not your place. You ONLY can do an ALL sweet or an ALL dry tasting. Absolutely no compromise. Very unfriendly, bad customer service. And $12.00 for 6 tastings..... expensive. Don't bother stopping.
I hosted a bridal shower at Penns Woods Winery this past weekend and I couldn't have asked for a better venue! The staff was prepared for our arrival with tables, chairs, trash can and tasting glasses ready. They also helped us carry our things to the location we would be at. Everyone was more than accommodating to our needs and was willing to go above and beyond for us. The venue is very pretty with many picnic tables and trees for shade. It helped that we had a beautiful day! I would definitely recommend this winery for a small gathering.
A great winery in Chadds Ford. Great wines great server's. Food available. Beautiful setting. $12.00 for a tasting

GREAT wine! Lovely vineyard. I recommend visiting on a temperate day to sit outside and gaze on the vineyard. Bring cash to tip your server.
Best wine tasting experience I've had. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds were beautiful. The wines were delicious. I really enjoyed the wine, cheese and charcuterie pairing flight.

Nice place to hang out on a beautiful day
Penn's woods is a beautiful winery with a fantastic selection of wines and friendly, knowledgeable staff. I love spending time listening to live music on the weekends and enjoying the ambiance. You truly don't feel like you're only a few minutes away from 202. I can't say enough good things about this place!
Lauren Meiring, I believe this new policy is perfect for the winery. As an original member of the wine club my biggest complaint was that children were allowed inside. It’s a winery, a place for adults to go and enjoy a quiet afternoon. Obviously the rules changed for a reason and Penns Woods made the changes that benefit the majority of their patrons. On many visits my party has sat in the back by the bathrooms, really not a big deal. This is by far the top winery in PA and shouldn’t be judged on one moms opinion!! Oh by the way I’ve seen your other reviews and don’t why you would call your children offensive, I know the staff at Penns Woods is too professional and polite to call any children offensive.

Great food, wine, people and atmosphere!!! In the winter try their pairings or in the spring and summer sip wine in the vineyard or attend one of their dozens of events. A must for any wine lover or family activity!
A great place to relax with music, friends and great wine.
Great service very friendly. Nice on site vineyard to look at. Reasonably priced
We spent a lazy Saturday here and enjoyed their wine selection. They have two options to choose from. The premium dry tasing and the light & sweet tasting selection. Depending on what you prefer, they have a fair selection of seasonal sangria, white's and red's and they give you five tasting servings of each. The staff is courteous and polite and clearly explain everything before each pouring. We tried their tasting menu and the cheese platter between three of us and were very satisfied.
Great place to come and have some wine. I had great service and Anna was very helpful and knowledgeable about the wines. I will be back again to try more of their wines and I also will buy some more bottles. I do recommend coming to visit if you haven't been. My girlfriends and I stopped in on our way to Whole Foods, and the place is absolutely adorable!! It has beautiful views and this sounds funny but the bathroom is fantastic haha. The staff was polite and the wine was delicious. I really liked how we were able to do a wine tasting at a table and take our time time and enjoy ourselves. We left with our wallets a little lighter but it was definitely well worth it
Hands down, the best place around. I was blown away!
The best Cabernet I have ever had at a local winery. My wife and I have visited a bunch of vineyard/winery spots in our travels. Most are very similar. Relatively high price for mediocre to average wine. Some have been beautiful facilities but the wine was just blah. This place is different. The vibe is great. The vineyard looks immaculate! The staff is very accommodating.
LIVE IN MA, LOVE THEIR WINES
Nice quiet afternoon with a bottle of white. Quiet area for a group of friends to enjoy a cheese plate.
By far the best winery experience we have ever had on this side of the country. Quaint beautiful Farmhouse, exceptional service, spectacular wines, unbelievable views of the meticulously maintained Vineyard! Every trip here is better than the last. The Razzi family has really done a phenomenal job at delivering spectacular vintages and top-of-the-line customer service. Will always come back!
Wife and I go every year for thanksgiving weekend! We love the staff and wine!
Fantastic! By far, the best Pennsylvania wines I've ever had--tastes like Washington state!
Very small room can hardly accommodate 7 people, $7 for wine testing, No good ambiance, unprofessional, not enough information provided, quantity of wine is barely 2 spoons per bottle per customer. I felt like i am drinking cough syrup. no repeat wines provided. The host looked surprised when I asked him i wanted to test one wine again. 6 bottle wine testing finished in less than 15 mins. Simply waste of money. Finally the wines are HIGHLY OVERPRICED. Uhhhh!! NOT RECOMMENDED!!! Instead I would recommend ChaddsFord winery which is nearby. Try it once and then you will understand how a good winery should be.
Fantastic Gruner Veltliner
Attended a yoga class in the vineyard, followed by a tasting and lunch. It was an awesome experience.
The wine was good and the enclosed patio was comfortable and warm on a rainy afternoon! The warm Mulling Wine was especially tasty! We'll definitely be back.
Little pricy. Very busy for November. No inside seating. Very good wine.
If you think PA doesn't craft great wines, then you haven't been to Penns Woods Winery in Chadds Ford. You'll enjoy award-winning wines, great service and a fun atmosphere. Learn as much or as little as you care to know about wines. They offer 2 flights to taste - a lighter, fruitier variety as well as a dry flight, mixed with whites and reds. Something for everyone... quaint farmhouse, romantic setting and a nice experience. Reasonably priced and you leave knowing your visit was appreciated.
LOVE this winery. My husband and I happened upon it some years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the wine, experience, and friendly staff. It has now become a Mother’s Day post Longwood Gardens stroll picnic lunch for my daughter and I.
Terrible service. Small "bar" area. Extra for tasting at tables. More expansive than many Napa wines.
Love this vineyard, the wine is incredible and the set up is so relaxing. We felt like we were in Napa, from the scenic view to the amazing wine we will definitely be going back as much as we possibly can.
Fabulous wine, charming tasting room, amazing events, staff is extremely knowledgable and friendly. Worth the trip! One of the best weekend day trips in the Philadelphia area. Great for friends, family, date night. Will be back often!
Excellent wine, wonderful atmosphere. We bring all of our friends here.
My wife and absolutely love the wines and the atmosphere. Looking forward to bringing our sons along with wives and girlfriend. Service is great
I definitely suggest that you try the Bancroft Moscato. My #1 favorite from this winery. You can also do a tasting of various flavors for just $10. Makes for a fun girl's outing.
Did a wine, cheese and honey tasting today with my boyfriend. It was delicious!!! We really enjoyed it and will be back
