(Translated by Google) Very nice people, with a tremendous kindness, a very clean place. (Original) Muy buenas personas, con una amabilidad tremenda, un lugar muy limpio.

Reliable, excellent inventory (including a solid sake selection), good prices and most importantly, in my book, a knowledgable and friendly staff. Top notch wine joint, but minus the Greenwich stuffiness, and they won't judge you if you appear to enjoy your sauce a tad too much. Think I'll head there now.

Adam Cesanek

A very friendly staff who is willing to help you find what you need. And you are going to need help finding it. There is a general lack of organization to the liquors, expensive liquors hide up on the top shelf out of view. Hand written price tags are hard to read, all of the mixers are behind the counter. This place has real potential as a great Greenwich liquor store.

Probably the only decent thing about Greenwich Connecticut.

This is your Old School classic neighborhood wine and spirits store that’s been an iatrical part of the Greenwich community fabric since 1957 Elvis and Marilyn Monroes hayday! This is not a wine store this is an institution and a fun experience here in Greenwich. They have a fantastic selection of smaller production high quality wines that you just don’t find in most wine stores. Yes you’re going to find your go-to “comfort brands”: Mondavi, Grgrich, Ruinart ect but along with those you’ll find some really interesting small production varietals that you just see anywhere else. Staff…very nice, helpful and know their wines. Stopping in at Vals and having a look around is like walking into a wine and spirits time capsule.

Great selection for a small size store. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and curteous. Prices not bad very fair.

Fine neighborhood wineshop with an enthusiastic staff. Convenient location but strip mall parking lot is usually borderline dangerous. Open Sundays, also sells cold beer.

Just walked in at 4:15 on a sunny Friday afternoon and was initially bummed out to see one small beer cooler with only the most usual of the usual suspects lined up. Just as I was going to head out I noticed a 4-pack of IA Torque Wrench hiding behind some Budweisers. I excitedly grabbed it, and then noticed a sticker on top with the name “Jebb” on it. With a faint hope I brought it up to the counter to inquire, but I was informed by the nice man who greeted me that Jebb is the owner but that he might let me have two cans. Enter Jebb- no such luck. All four were “reserved”. Ok, so I brought the 4-pack back to the cooler and as I was putting it away saw another 4-pack of Torque Wrench...also with Jebb’s name on it! Then I realized that the cooler was deep, with an entire level of flats squirreled away behind the Budweisers, the Heinekens, the Coronas etc. Full case of Singlecut...reserved!!! Full case of IA...reserved!!! Full case of Pipeworks...reserved!!! I didn’t bother tearing open any cardboard. According to Jebb (the owner) every single can of craft beer in his store was “reserved”. Hey Jebb- Sarene is not your personal beer delivery service you greedy boy.

Won a charity auction last year for a tasting valued at $750. Multiple emails, phone messages, ignored and getting the run around. Will edit post if Jeb or anyone would get back to us. will be calling Habitat for Humanity next to let them know Vals does not honor their gifts. Disappointing. EDIT Previously one star because wouldn't fulfill auction item. Eventually the charity reached out and we came to a conclusion.

After several attempts to try and find something in this store that wasn't 30-40% overpriced I finally gave up and drove to Varmax Liquor down Putnam Ave which prices everything fairly. Wines at Vals is at least 20 to 30 % overpriced. Scotch, and other Liquors are a very overpriced as well by 25-35-%. Its worth the extra 5 minutes to drive to Varmax for better pricing and much much better selection.

It is not unusual to see Val's staff at community and business events around Greenwich, such as Sidewalk Sales Days when they served wine at First Bank of Greenwich. Also saw them at a Junior League of Greenwich soiree at Equinox a while back. Looking to hone your wine appreciation talent and skill, join them in one of their frequent wine tasting and wine education classes. Here's to you.
