If you're reading this, let me save you some time: Go to this store. They are awesome. If you're curious why they're awesome, keep on reading. So, I was cooking an Italian dinner for friends a few weekends ago, since I just got back from school and hadn't seen them in ages (Caprese Salad, Pasta, homemade Pomodoro sauce, the works) and looking for a wine to serve with the food. Usually, I just get a simple Chianti for this sort of thing \. I went in the store and, with no trouble, found a $15 one. I started talking to their employees, however, (super friendly) and got to talking about which wines go well with which foods and stuff! They suggested I try a 2010 Heitz Cellar Grignolino to go with the pasta. I'd never heard of that variety before, but, since this was a special occasion, I put the Chianti back and gave it a shot. When I popped the cork that evening, I was blown away. The wine had some incredible fruit and acidity that was super zesty, and went perfectly with the tomato sauce I was making (even added a bit of wine to the sauce)! My friends ended up really liking it too! So happy I didn't go with the Chianti, haha. I haven't found this wine anywhere else, and there are plenty of others that Toast has that I haven't found at other stores. Anyway, since that first time, I've been hooked at Toast! I rarely go anywhere else to get my wine. The people there are super friendly, and they have a great selection of wines that can match anyone's budget, and if I have any wine questions, they're really helpful. They also do free tastings on Saturdays which are really fun and informative (I usually come away from those with a bottle or two, haha). So there it is! Hope this is helpful to people!

I love their wine selection, from recognizable labels to off-the-beaten path varietals, and I even like that it's not perfectly organized...it's a small enough shop that it won't overwhelm. The prices are comparable to other small shops. The staff is mostly friendly and helpful. On one occasion I went in and the clerk seemed more interested by his phone than in the customers.

Prices are very good, but unfortunately they raised the prices of my order after I had ordered it. I think it's very unprofessional to retroactively apply a price. Even if a mistake was made Toast should honor the advertised price.

Although for some buying $3 wine at Trader Joe's is sufficient, for many it's definitely not. If you want to impress a friend or buy a gift for a family member, Toast is a great place to go. The people who work there are SO NICE and SO HELPFUL. Whether you know nothing about wine or have a sophisticated palette, they can guide you towards unique bottles you might not have discovered on your own. It's right in the middle of West Hartford Center so it's convenient for the rest of your shopping. Stop by!
