We randomly stumbled upon this vineyard and we are so happy we did! This is our new favorite vineyard, absolutely beautiful and great wine. We will definitely be returning here. Our visit would not have been the same without Kim!!! She gave us the low down of the area, amazing customer service, and a ton of laughs. THANK YOU KIM! Looking forward to returning.

Great vineyard, 95% of their wine is grown and produced locally on site. They only import a small percentage of grapes for their Merlot. We had a picnic lunch with a large group of about 20 adults and kids on a gorgeous late May day. It was hot (mid 80s) but some shade and a lovely breeze kept us cool. Plenty of room (cafe tables and picnic tables outside). Inside is seating only for parties <6. The wine tasting was great (only $6 or $8 if you wanted to keep your glass as a souvenir). No pressure to buy and the girl was very knowledgeable and friendly. Wine slushies (Merlot) for $5 were a hit with our group on the warm day. Side note - they don't allow any outside beverages (including water). They were fine with us bringing juice boxes and milk for the kids and babies.

KEVIN BLAKELEY

The scenery and wine selection was incredible! My girlfriend and I selected one of their delicious white wines and sat outside to watch the sunset!

Incredibly rude will not be returning and will tell all my friends and family not to visit this winery.

Visited this vineyard on 12/3/17 Wine was good, but one of the male staff members was rude to us. We had a group of 14 at the vineyard and was told they only allow groups of 4 and we would have to give up our tables to others if it got busy. We arrived early and had 4 tables, we consolidated to 3 tables and was asked to give up our chairs to other groups (one of which was a group of 6) which left us with 5 chairs for 3 tables and 14 people. Other vineyards we have gone to the tables are 1st come first served you may want to think about your 4 person group max when you have 14 paying customers walk through your door next time and maybe expand your seating area if it's costing you customers.

Beautiful, well kept grounds, friendly, knowledgeable employees. We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting. We went on a weekday and we had the place to ourselves.

Root 63 is one of the best sweet wines out of all the CT Vineyards, my favorite. The Motel family members and staff are always pleasant and friendly. The tasting room is rustic and cozy, but the outdoor patio, fire pit and picnic area are awesome on a beautiful New England Summer afternoon.

Shannon Barth

Love this vineyard. People are always friendly, the atmosphere is cozy & their wines are delicious and priced fairly.

Holly DeFelice

One of the best wineries in Connecticut! The staff is always friendly and a incredible atmosphere. Not to mention there is not a wine I have tried and disliked!

Brianne Schonfeld

We have never been to a nicer, more knowledgeable staffed vineyard. My husband and I have traveled to many vineyards and have never had a better experience. I cannot wait to come back!

Don Frye

Good tasting. I too late to do a tour, but great looking vineyard. You can choose 5 wines for the normal tasting and a good price. The wines were good for the area. I really enjoyed the Riesling they did.

I am not a big wine drinker, but I can not get enough of your Rt 63,and Rt 63 barrel aged, and great atmosphere .I will be making the trip back up very soon. ..

Matt Giordano

Beautiful spot to hang out with friends and family and enjoy some pretty great wines for CT. Only real downside is their hours are super slim- wish the tasting room was open in the evenings, it would be a great spot for some live evening jazz and tapas.

Jessica Houlker

Another fantastic winery. Chris was knowledgeable and gave fantastic descriptions of the wines. Tasting room is fairly small but the property is over 40 acres with more being planted soon. Love their new coffee infused Rt. 68 and the Rum Barrel Aged Sunset Blush. Will definately be back in the summer when I can sit outside.

JeepGirl 71

The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly about their signature wines. I had a great time sampling their selection and bought 6 bottles to ship home. I am looking forward to visiting with them soon in the near future. Keep up the great work!!

We love going here in the summer or winter!!! We always enjoy the wine and the chocolates also. One year they had a Hot Cider wine, which I went back and bought 4 packs and 4 bottles of wine for my wedding!!! It was a hit!

Really enjoy their wines. Beautiful place to enjoy their wine! Close to 2-3 other wineries as well

Laurel Hunt

My favorite winery that I've been to in Connecticut. The place is very cute, and I really like their wine compared to other wineries in the area. I especially love when they have their wine slushies during the Summer!

Betsy McEneaney

Surprisingly good wine, great atmosphere!

(Translated by Google) We went from far away to try and buy their wines, and they didn't attend us for 2 minutes. How can they treat their customers? Disappointing. (Original) Fuimos desde muy lejos para probar y comprar sus vinos, y no nos atendieron por 2 minutos. Como pueden tratar a sí a sus clientes? Decepcionante.

My family wanted to go to a vineyard in Litchfield, but I guess we drove too far because we ended up here, in Goshen. I'm glad we did. We came on a Sunday and the place was bubbling. I hate having to navigate parking fields, where you literally have to park in the grass and hope that is the right spot, but there were multiple people directing us where to go. They were young kids directing us, but they had a lot of experience and were very friendly. They had a live band and a food truck. At first there was no place to sit, but a nice couple let us share a picnic bench with us. I'm glad they were so friendly otherwise I would have had to sit on the ground, where there are ants. I don't like sitting next to ants. I had to go inside to get the wine. The store was maxed out, but the staff kept it flowing by asking each person in line what they wanted prior to them reaching the counter. Very smart! I judge a place by if they ID me. I'm balding, and my non bald spots are grey. I'm also fat and have wrinkles all over my face. If you need to ID me, then I immediately know you have no experience, but I didn't get carded, so onward with my positive experience. Back at the picnic bench, I couldn't find my wife. The nice couple said that my wife moved to a pair of Adirondack chairs, which are much more comfortable that a picnic bench. I thanked them for their help. There was a food truck there that put crushed Doritos as a topping. At this point I thought I was in heaven. Every place has there problems. The only problem I had with this place was the amount signage needed to tell people not to bring their own water. The nice guys in the parking lot were warning people not to bring water. There were so many signs in the lawn that I had to crop 1/2 my pictures. I get you don't want people to bring water so you can charge them, but I think that is wrong for two reasons: 1) people will get drunk faster and possibly then drive drunk 2) this is America, and sometimes I like to walk around with my 8QT camel water pack. I should be able to do this where I go. I took a lot of pictures of the parking lot. Best time ever.

Chris and Kim always take the best care of every customer. We go back again and again. Superb wine. Try the Vidal Blanc!

This winery had the rudest staff I've ever met. I will never be returning to this location and I'll make sure to let my friends know as well. I was highly disappointed.

Casey Coassin

The wine was great we especially liked the spiced cider wine. The staff member was knowledgeable and friendly and took the time to answer our questions.

Gary T

We come here all the time. Love the root 63. Always take some home!

Corrina Gardner

Great place. Wine tasting. Place to sit outside with purchased wine and snacks.

Mike Downey

I have been to every winery in Connecticut. I was extremely impressed with Chris who gave us our tasting. I am not easily impressed, however A+ for Chris. He gave us a background and history of the wine. Going back again this weekend. Place is fantastic

Dwight S

Nice quiet place. Very knowledgeable people serving the wine. Seating indoors or out. Max 4 people together inside for seating. strict sign on seating. Nice store area. Good selection of wines.

Matthew Niski

Susan Wichrowski

This is my favorite winery. I have been to many across the state on the wine passport list. This one has a beautiful setting, friendly staff and most importantly welcomes dogs. Two of my favorite things in one spot. As a wine lover, dog daycare owner and pet sitter this is a favorite spot for my husband and I. Try the Lab Cab and the Root 66 infused with coffee and chilled and head out on the patio to enjoy. You will not be disappointed!

Jessica Reis

Shelby Barnhart

Great setting and wine! Our car broke down on the way there and the staff was extremely nice and lent us some tools for my husband to fix it in their parking lot while our kids played in the gorgeous lawn! Brought a few bottles home and am looking forward to going back!

Jason Hanakahi

Monica Claros

Rion Lindsay

Friendly staff with good local wines

Christopher Doris

Visited yesterday with my wife and two friends. We did a tasting with Chris, in which we tried 5-6 different wines. All of them were very good to excellent IMO. Connecticut is a far from ideal wine region, but these folks nailed it, with mostly estate grown grapes. Best CT wines I've had by far! The property was great, with a food truck making pizzas, and plenty of parking and seating, and super friendly staff. We'll definitely be back again!

Joe Jurado

The staff in the parking lot are rude and the bathrooms smell

Sheri Grier

An afternoon tasting with Andrea and enjoying their wine along with our delicious edibles, it was a wonderful experience and look forward to my next visit. Also, had the utmost pleasure of meeting Kim who made sure we were having a nice time and it was a perfect place to drink, eat, and bring home a bottle for another day!

First time we visit that place and when we went it was an event 2 or 3 weeks ago. We loved it everything was so nice, people around enjoying and buying some stuff, live music, I bought a delicious spice jam.

Julia Callahan

Loved all of the wines we tried, and we’re not so easily impressed by the whole wine menu. Kim was fantastic for our wine tasting and we are over the moon they are dog friendly inside and out. The hour and a half drive was worth it, we’ll be back!

john nachio

Went for a wine tasting and didnt like any of the wines. The only one tolerable was the root 63. Got it home and opened it 2 weeks later, and the wine was bad!!! Vinegar bad.....These people should not be making wine! Will never return

Some great wines, I think best in Ct. Friendly staff makes this a must trip.

clare balus

Great tasting. We were lucky enough to have the winemaker as our somelier.

margaret loughlin

Just as some other reviews I read here. The staff is rude, we got there early. 8 of us together we brought in snacks like they told us we could do. first the wine tasting, the bar tender gave us a nice full page menu then said larger groups only get a very small choice menu 1/4 page? fine but I like red only about 3 to pick from 5 given choices. Then after we sit at the table we were asked to leave after an hour there with 4 open bottle's of there wine we bought! ( A family reunion) a brother & sister-in law had just got there from driving all the way from Philly. 10 minutes before they kicked us out of the table & seats. I asked nicely for just 15 more minutes. NO! ? really? We bought extra bottles spent $$$ She said I gave you 2 hours NOT true since we were only there from 12:45 to 2:00pm . We were told to leave our water bottles in car might be vodka in it? strange thing.. Thanks but no thanks again ever! Many other places that are warm ~

John Roberts

We just stopped in there and we had a party bus . We were told that they could not take us. Never asked how many people we had . Nothing. We did not want a group tasting. As I called weeks ago and was told if we stop by a group tasting would not be available but we could do individual tasting or buy a bottle and enjoy the view. But when we got there We were told that we would be liability and we had to leave. The funny thing is that the cars that were with us got there before the bus . Said there was plenty of open tables and space. . They were my favorite place to stop when I was in the area.

Cynthia at Legacy Homestead

First stop, of 3, on our spontaneous CT wine tour yesterday. Wines were delicious and plenty to choose from although tastings were a bit on the scant side.Staff was friendly and informative. We enjoyed the outdoor picnic area and the live music. Bought a bottle for home to share with friends. I did not give the winery a full 5 because they are not a non smoking facility and there was a cigar smoker (ewwww) at the next table over and we and others at our table were trying to enjoy our picnic and fine wine while that nasty smell wafted by us. We would definitely visit again , but please make it a non smoking facility. Thank you..
