All the reviews here for this place are great, and they may have had a great product, but apparently nobody will get a chance to try it for some time.
I bought a Groupon for a wine tasting for two. Got it as a gift for my sister. We, and two of her friends, were really looking forward to the tasting. Well, I tried to call to make the reservation, but nobody ever answered the phone. I tried calling about 20 times; during business hours, after house, every day of the week. Never an answer, just a recording confirming I'd called CT Wine Co, and that the voicemail box is full. Really annoying.
Then I sent about 10 emails over the stretch of about 2 weeks. Still no reply. Even more annoying.
I was in Wallingford today, so I figured I'd swing by and see what was up. It was during the business hours listed on Yelp and on Google. But there was nobody there. Doors locked, lights off.
A guy from the restaurant next door informed me that the place was closed because they didn't have a license to sell liquor, so they had to shut up shop. No notices anywhere about if/when they'll be back in business, and since they don't bother answering the phone or emails, one can only assume they won't be around anytime again soon.
(Incidentally, if you're the owner of this business and reading this, maybe you should take down your Groupon offer, and/or study up on your customer service skills, which are quite obviously lacking.)
Also, this same owner is also opening a place called The Barrelhouse in Killingworth. I would be seriously leery of doing business with this location as well!
Be cautious of Southern Connecticut Wine Company and The Barrelhouse!!!
