Two thumbs up
Beautiful winery right on the coast. Walk the grounds, sit in the Adirondack chairs, or go by the water. You can bring your own food and water. Wine selection is great!
Beautiful location, wine selection for testing is limited. All the wines were a little bitter but I would go back in a few years.
Horrible!!!!!! I literally just left and I am so disgusted. The server did not even tell us how much the tasting was going to be until we were done. The staff was rude and did not interact at all! They checked their cell phones and counted wine bottles. Another couple came in right after us and were barely greeted. The rest of the staff was setting up for a wedding. I hope they treat the bride and groom better than the public. I have been to several wineries and tours and this was by far the worst!
The place is nice but the staff from the minute you pull in driveway the guy is jerk, then you go inside the staff is just rude, then you want to leave the old guy want to search you again looking for his cheap glasses, not even thank you, I wish I can give them no stars
The tasting room and grounds are some of the most scenic on the wine trail.
Saltwater Farm Vineyard is a memorable spot for both events and a spontaneous picnic with friends. Visit for the wine, stay for the good company and breathtaking views. A truly special spot where I was lucky enough to have my wedding... If you haven't been for a visit, be sure to check it out... you will be happy you did.
Great location. Good wines.
Good wines, better views.
We chose Saltwater Farm as the venue for our 6/16/18 wedding. After doing extensive research on many CT and MA venues- we narrowed down our list to six sites that we wanted to visit. The moment we walked into Saltwater Farm, we had a great feeling. We were looking for the perfect blend of rustic, industrial, and natural and SWF was certainly all of that and more. We met with the owner Merrily, who provided answers to every single question I had (and I am an event planner by profession, so I had A TON of questions). From start to finish, our experience with SWF was outstanding. Every visit we planned with vendors was coordinated without issue, we were welcomed into the tasting room and recognized as a client by the tasting room staff. Any time we saw Merrily or her husband at the vineyard, they asked how planning was going and if we needed anything. Merrily was extremely prompt and thorough with all communication. Honestly, even though SWF does many weddings each year- we always felt like we were the only bride and groom getting married there that year. The attention to detail, the insurance of privacy for the day of your wedding, the meticulous care of the grounds, and the amenities available at the vineyard (their bridal suite is top notch) were outstanding. I would also highly recommend ordering lunch for your bridal party from MBAR, which Merrily and her husband also own.
They should call this a wedding chapel not a winery , Don't bother going in the summer every weekend there's a wedding and they rudely boot you at 3 ,to bad such a nice place so go in the winter or not at all..........
My husband and I stopped in to pick up a gift for a friend. The grounds are gorgeous. It was a sunny day and we stood out on the balcony overlooking the vineyards for quite a while. It was breathtaking. We aren't wine drinkers so we relied heavily on the girl at the counter to help us determine which wine to get. She explained the differences between them and helped us select a wine that would work. I was impressed with her knowledge. I was also impressed with the price of the wine. It was quite reasonable. And my friend loved it!
Love the driveway, place has a beautiful setting. Wine is ok. Nothing blew my socks off. Staff was only just polite.
We have loved Chardonnays from SWF since our first taste in 2011. The terroir lends a slight briny flavor to the grapes; their Chardonnay is usually unoaked. It is wonderful with seafood! The winery building was once a hangar and the curved wood ceiling looks like the inside of a wine barrel. Tastings are available; they also have cheese and crackers available for purchase now. Their wines are not widely available, and the winery is beautiful, so it is worth your while to visit. We don't make it to CT very often, but when we are in the area, we make a point to stop in and buy some bottles to put in our checked luggage.
We enjoyed our visit and we're impressed by the winery and learning it's history from our server. The wine was good. It's a definite stop if you're interested in the wine trail through the South coast of New England.
Spicer Mansion a hotel in Mystic, CT recommends Saltwater Vineyard! A beautifully restored airplane hanger, great wine and great staff. Its a must visit when in the area!!!!
Beautiful as always
Definitely scenic. Built in an aircraft hanger on old air strip. Great setting for a wedding. The bridal suite has full amenities including
This is one of the most Beautiful place on earth. Great venue for events and some of the best wines around all grown on the farm. Picnic tables in the vineyard with great ocean views. Wish I could live at the vineyard.
Beautiful location with excellent wines. We have been back several times and enjoy our experience every time. There’s a variety of places you can sit outside and enjoy your wine. The only downside is on Saturdays they close at 3 for events.
Visited for the first time today, and had an exceptional experience. Atmosphere was excellent, staff was knowledgeable and very willing to share information about the wines and the history to make our experience a memorable one. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every wine and we will definitely be back!
Had a wonderful day with my wife and sisters on the 30th of November. The building and grounds are amazing. I enjoyed the four selections available, but I preferred the "Golden Arc" Estate Chardonnay, Cabernet Rose and Cabernet Franc/Merlot Blend. The atmosphere is set by an informed and pleasant staff. We welcomed our new additions to our in-house bar, and look forward to restocking for family events. Definitely a recommendation!!!
Lovely place to have a picnic and relax. The wine is nice, the views are lovely! Outside food is welcomed, but no outside alcohol. Love this place! We see weddings get set up there all the time and it's just beautiful! All of the flowers that Brambles & Bittersweet floral company brought in this past weekend were just stunning! Love a lot about this place! Local wine, local owners, local vendors to Mystic, CT. It's all just dreamy! We keep coming back for more and we are never disappointed!
Excellent service, beautiful building and good wines.
This is a beautiful vineyard and winery. Both the interior and the grounds are immaculate, and there is a nice display of their wine at the front entry.
Beautiful vineyard on the water. Do a tasting or just grab a glass and take a walk around this gorgeous winery that's unlike any other.
Awesome wedding venue!! Great staff! Would highly recommend especially for a fall wedding!!
We're getting married on November 19th 2016!!! Can't wait!
Fabulous ambiance and experience.
Amazing place! The wines, staff, and atmosphere are all fantastic. ...not to mention this has got to be one of the best places to have a wedding in the entire country. We Love it!
Beautiful winery with great views!
Beautiful place! Enjoying the Runway White 2016 on a hot summer day.
They have some of the most friendly owners and employees you'll ever meet. The location is beautiful and the wine is very tasty as well.
We had a great time. Good atmosphere.
They didn't have a tour at all and they charge $10 for some wine tasting - which we didn't really care for the wine. They used the same glass for both the red and white.
Serene and beautiful
Awesome venue, terrific wine Had a lovely time, hostess was very knowledgeable. Enjoyed very much, will definitely be back So worth the trip!
The wines were terrible, service left much to be desired but the best... the owner sitting in the parking lot controlling how you park. I left a bit of extra space between my car and the next one to avoid dings on my exotic sports car, he made a big deal out of it, so much so that I just moved it in another spot, squeezed between other cars hoping not to return to a damaged car... yes, I got back to what will be a very expensive ding/scratch. I am LIVID. This was one very expensive wine tasting... That one foot of extra space will probably cost me a grand. Thank you! UPDATE.... I spoke with Ms. Connery, the owner... They have no cameras, she implied that I lied, she informed me that “Robbie” the guy in parking lot denied this ever happening or that I even spoke with him. Luckily this happened in front of 8 other people in my car club. She of course never followed up. Terrible business in EVERY way. AVOID these clowns.
Beautiful setting on a perfect day!
Great atmosphere and very knowledgeable and friendly staff!
We were here for a wedding, food, wine and atmosphere were tremendous, we will be back!
Very pretty area. Good wines. A must see for a local Vinyard.
Beautiful place, good wine. Relaxed. Music was ok. Definitely go!!!
One of the best locations on the wine trail! Beautiful!
We cannot put into words how amazing our experience was getting married here last week. This venue is simply breathtaking, the staff and owners are remarkable to work with, and their preferred vendors are the best in the business (we are so grateful to have chosen: Gourmet Galley Catering; Jennifer Bach Photography; Dean Rocha Films Videography; Adams Garden of Eden; Deluxe Entertainment; Chaz Zezulka/Justice of the Peace; You Take The Cake, LLC; and Kathryn W. Salon). Now we cannot wait to go back as a married couple, to happily reminisce, and to rejoice in the beautiful surroundings with their delicious wine! -Lindsey & Phavixai
Good wine good friends
Great wine, fair pricing, and in the summer, leashed dogs are allowed! Really beautiful building too!
The winery was beautiful!!! Loved that it was a hanger and is still an active airport. The wine was very good. We did a wine tasting and we bought a delicious bottle of red. The reason for the 2 stars is because the bartender that was running the tasting wasn’t very friendly, but besides that I dropped my bag containing the bottle I purchased. I was so upset as I was looking forward to opening that bottle up and enjoying it with my husband. When I explained to the girl in the front that although it was my fault, I just purchased the bottle in hopes she would replace it. Instead her response was “I was trying to see if I had an open bottle but I don’t.” That, in my opinion was poor customer service and if it were me I would’ve replaced that bottle. I left there quite disappointed and although it was very pretty not sure I will go back now.
Beautiful barn.
Great use of an old airfield (still operational), the wines here are great and is a good close getaway for a weekend picnoc
Great winery very nice
