Beautiful. Wine tasting was great, bri g a picnic grounds are just perfect!
Great day out with the girls reuniting did some yoga out on their patio Walk The Vineyards - other than all the fruit flies everything was fantastic and we met a great worker named Walter you need a raise
Excellent hilltop place with nice view. No outside beverage allowed but foods are ok.
The great place to enjoy your day, drink local wine, and have a picnic.
Beautiful vineyard with great scenery and outdoor seating. Excellent spot for a date. For wine I recommend their Stone House White or Sunset Red.
I've been here twice with friends, and both times left with mixed feelings. The view is great, the food policy is convenient, but the wine is ok at best. The whites are definitely better than the reds. I''m sure I'll be here again for the atmosphere, but if I saw Gouveia wine on the shelf a local store, I'd pass in favor of a better Spanish wine at half the price
Very friendly people! Great views! Delicious wine!
Wine was good!
Nice atmosphere, buy their wine, eat your own brought food. Perfect way to spend a Saturday!
Love it it's like a second family. ;). Highly recommend.. ;). Wine and a view....
Nice selection of vines. Amazing views of the surrounding rolling hills that make for great drinking and snacking on the surrounding property. Can be quite busy on weekend.
Great atmosphere and good wines. Sit down tasting on Sunday was a nice experience. Not too loud and plenty of seating for whatever atmosphere you prefer. We'll be back!
Sunset Red is a favorite of ours. Views are lovely. Staff is super friendly & helpful. All in all, we love visiting Gouveia & go every chance we get. Bring your own picnic, appetizers, pizzas, you name it... Oh, and they have a big, beautiful fire pit burning outside when the weather permits. Did I mention we love it here?
Nice place for a day outing or picnic with groups. We went during a wine tasting afternoon, took our own food. Weather was good and we enjoyed the day. Dogs are allowed and lot of open space for pets and kids to play.
Excellent vineyard. Looking forward to future visits.
Worst customer experience ever - the only winery on the CT wine trail I will never give business to again - the staff & owner were rude. we have been here many times before and always done tastings inside, but we were told we could not taste inside and would need to wait 20 minutes for the next large group tasting, - being regular customers, we knew this was not the case, and when I questioned the owner about it, he stuck his finger in my face, called me "lady" and the rudeness went on from there - my husband dragged me out before I could fully "engage", but I figure social media will be his karma - don't bother buying anything here - get your passbook stamped and move on...
Have been here a few times as it's not that far from where I live. Beautiful views and great staff. Of course they make their own wines and have some great ones depending on what you drink. They dont serve food but you can bring your own. Great spot for small events or get togethers. Would recommend!!!
Wine was great!
Staff is great. Always have a good time.
Beautiful vineyard great for a nice day out
Very nice location. High elevation so as you drink on the patio you have a good look out on the rolling hills of this part of CT. Did the wine tasting to really get a full spectrum of what they offer, wasn't particularly impressed but it definitely was enjoyable. Wanted to try their desert wine but that was an extra $5 for a sip all in its own, understand why the extra price but that was a little steep. Pond on the location was the best part. Tons of fish and turtles that you can just watch for hours. Prefered this, but near the building was more high class for business arrangements. One of the great stops on the CT wine trail that is definitely worth a stop.
Great time at the winery. Great wine
Amazing view, nice wine. Just bring your own food.
Beautiful views and setting, so so wines. I loved this place years when it was smaller and cozy, as it tends to get a bit crowded and noisy since it had expanded many years back.
Beautiful Views...wonderful vineyard
Had an Amzing time really friendly and nice atmosphere.
Beautiful views and awesome experience. Very well taken care of and had a awesome wine tasting. Absolutely beautiful grounds. A must visit.
Beautiful vineyard. Decent wine considering they use mostly Connecticut grown grapes.
This is a review that is a long time coming mainly because I keep coming back. I always enjoy my time here whether it's because I'm meeting with friends/co-workers or I need to decompress my day with a glass of wine and a sunset.
Our group had a wonderful and relaxing time at Gouveia Vineyards. We sat by the fire, drank good wine and enjoyed the atmosphere and company! We are definitely going back. BYOF.
Nice place.
Great place but they need to get their tastings vs. bottle purchasing straight because there's no method and waits are long. One bar should be tastings and the other for everything else.
Delicious wine with a great view!
One of my favorites places!
I've visited this vineyard several times and it's always beautiful. You have indoor and outdoor seating, beautiful views and if you don't go during very busy times, it's very quiet and relaxing. It's still nice when it's busy (on weekends with the larger crowds) just keep in mind, it may be a little noisy and the restroom lines a bit lengthy.
The views are amazing !! The wines are world class excellent !! I'm proud to live within walking distance !!
One of the most beautiful places on Earth
Amazing, had a great time, great atmosphere, positive vibes and so welcoming...I would do it all over again
Very popular , busy winery and very good wines!
Love their wines, staff is knowledgable and friendly. Great place to bring some snacks and enjoy a bottle with beautiful views.
Good wine and the most beautiful sunset views. Reasonable prices. Go on a warm sunny monday or tuesday evening when it isn't crowded. Bring your own food, look for turtles in the pond or stroll around the grounds to see the horses and vines!
Such a beautiful scenery on a hilltop. The wine selection is why I gave this winery 4-stars instead of 5. We tried the sampler for $12, which was great because you can try a taste of 6 wines and you get a complimentary wine glass, but you don’t get to choose the wines you want to taste. I’m not a fan of white wine, so those were not my favorite. The sunset red is delicious in my opinion because it is full of flavor! We asked for a bucket of ice to bring our hot bottle of wine outside, and they handed us a plastic sand bucket for the beach, so it didn’t cool down the wine at all. All in all, they just have minor adjustments to make, and it will be a 5-star winery.
Great place for a bottle of wine just bring some uno cards along this place is a blast
Very enjoyable. They we're having their grape harvest. One of the most beautiful views ln Connecticut.
Great place to gather with friends. Friendly staff great views huge fireplace cozy place
Absolutely beautiful and staff was awesome!
Very crowded on Saturdays but great place to come with families or to celebrate...
VERY disappointing ! This was my second visit. Brought two friends from the midwest and was embarrassed. We made sure we had a nice lunch prior to our visit so the wine tasting would not make us tipsy. There were 4 wines chosen for us and an additional wine of your choice. They give you one glass for all five tastes. You can rinse out your glass and dump the water into a separate container. We explained this was our first visit. The young lady was not customer friendly, did not make sure we understood the procedure but did tell us she'd collect the $12 fee for each person after we finished the tasting. We asked for a cracker in between tastes. The young lady was sorry but they did not have any crackers. A minute or so later an other lady said they had run out of crackers yet we saw a group be served fruit, cheese and crackers by an employee of the winery. All we wanted was a couple of crackers. No one there was thinking "outside the box". A wine tasting should not occur without something in-between to clean your pallet. The view is spectacular and potential for greatness is there. Very sorry the customer service aspect is so in need of serious training, care and attention. Not busy on Wednesday afternoon @ 2PM. No excuse, just bad service and poor planning on their part.
Lovely place
Very nice and friendly, beautiful view And delicious wine!
Good wine and nice atmosphere, does not deserve 5 Stars however, because they do not take American Express
Absolutly beautiful setting !
Very nice
Just not impressed. Server seemed like we were bothering her.
I love this place, the views and the atmosphere it's amazing..
I came here with my mom and sister while on vacation, expecting it to be pretty slow on a Wednesday afternoon. We were looking forward to a tasting which is always fun - learning about the wines, friendly staff, trying different wines.. last time we went to Brignole Vineyards and came home with multiple bottles and shirts. Unfortunately we were SO disappointed by the staff and overall experience, would NOT recommend - go to Paradise down the road or literally any other winery in CT. First of all their tasting had 5 pre-selected wines, a mix of sweet whites and reds (who in their right mind would want to try a mix of those, and in the summer??). We like dry whites, and my mom is literally allergic to reds. They would not allow switching any of the wines or creating our own tasting which we were willing to pay for. I even mentioned I was looking to buy bottles but not if I couldn't try the wine first. They insisted the only option they offered was to try ONE wine each for free before ordering a glass. So we did, and the wines we tried were mediocre at best. Nothing worth paying for a bottle (I could get something better and cheaper at a liquor store). The woman who waited on us did offer a second small taste to a couple of us when she overheard us say things like "I'm not sure what to order because I didn't really like that one wine I tasted but I can't try any others.." but that hardly made up for the strictness from the start, nor the meh tasting wines they offered. The only positive was the nice patio with good views, but you can't bring beverages from other locations. So if you really want good wines, try Paradise down the road. Much better and friendlier tasting!! I ended up buying 3 bottles to take home! :)
Great Place. Spectacular wine, amazing views. Chocolate Epiphany Wine.... Heaven in a bottle. ❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful view and location. Limited wine selections for tasting. Don't allow you to try others for additional cost. Was fairly low key when we were there and still the servers couldn't be bothered to help us. At one point mid tasting, they all had disappeared from behind the counter. There are better local wineries in my opinion
It was my first time and I had a fabulous time... the staff was great, the wine was good and atmosphere was breathtaking.
Very nice place love the wine
Beautiful place, beautiful view, TERRIBLE wine. You are better with a $10 bottle from the supermarket.
Great views and great wine. Bring your own food.
Beautiful place, very relaxing!
Great views! You can bring your own food and choose to sit outside or inside. Wines are ok.
My friend and I ordered SANGRIA and it was served in a plastic cup not a glass.
Not bad!
Nice place
One of my favorite CT wineries
Amazing view, cool people, great wine!
We have been quite a few times and really enjoy the red blend!
Great place, friendliest people, good wine.
Beautiful setting.....I am from Texas...but visit here offen.....every time I travel to Connecticut. I make a point to enjoy a glass of wine the views!
This place is gorg I love it great place to have a ladies brunch outdoors.
Listed as a dog friendly winery on the CT Wine Trails, but not actually. Drove all the way to Wallingford just to find out she's only allowed to sit in the car.
Most overrated vineyard in CT. I've been 3x and each time it's been too packed, no seating available... Literally the staff has to bring out extra falling apart chairs and tables. You wait 30-45 minutes for a simple wine tasting. Nice views but can't even enjoy them because you can't hear yourself think. Wine is below average. So many better vineyards.
Nice place. Can bring your own food but have to buy all drinks. View is awesome. Lots of seating inside and out. Wine is OK but not great.
Excellent location and vineyard house has an old world look/feel about it. Looks like someone took a small country chateau from Europe and dropped it in the middle of CT. It is a great place to sit with friends and family to have a glass of wine. You are allowed to bring your own food to make an extended stay of the trip.
Top notch views, but below average wine and service.
The views are great! This place is all about location. The wine was ok but the sangria and chocolate wine are fantastic. They allow you to bring your own food (no outside beverages) and the staff are helpful and friendly.
The feel of being far away
This was the first vineyard I ever visited and it remains my favorite. Their wines are amazing (and affordable), the service is friendly, and the view is spectacular.
love this place always a great time
I would definitely say this vineyard is one of the most asthetic vineyards on the CT Wine Trail. There is a gorgeous view overlooking the vineyard from both the inside and the outside. This vineyard is easy if your going with a few people or a group. Definitely by far one of my favorite places in CT! Not to mention the wine is great!!
Very good wine - one of the only vineyards in CT that have decent reds. I like their Merlot and red blend. They both have some depth and aren't too fruity.
It's too loud inside. When you go to a winery you want a little more peace and quiet than loud. The inside sitting room is very echo-y so you all have to talk very loud to hear your conversation, because everyone else is also being loud. They need to put up some sound absorbers or something. The wine is decent, their reds are my favorite, but they have been slowly increasing the price of the bottles since I've been going, used to be $12/bottle, now it's closer to $20 - and in my opinion the quality has gone down. Amazing views and much more pleasant when the weather is nice and you can sit outside away from the noise. Never had an issue with customer service like a lot of other reviews have said.
Great space you can actually bring food and eat here lol ... prices reasonable . Very family Oriented and the views are beautiful !
Beautiful place, extremely friendly staff, great wine. It's what your looking for.
Great place to enjoy a bottle of topnotch wine
amazing place. !! recommended 100%.
Great place, relaxing, I've only been there twice and I'm in love with it. Friendly people and Great scenery.
Great views, soso wine and service
Great place to socialize with friends.
Closed @6pm on Saturday staff corks it and tells you "You need to leave" so different from when they first opened, disappointing at best, going elsewhere!
Really nice place with extraordinary views. Wines are very good. Bring food and invite your friends. Good place to have a gathering without having to host at home?
Love this place. Wine is good and it is a great place to hang and have some of there great wine.
Beautiful grounds and the perfect relaxing atmosphere! In addition, everyone who works there is so kind and unbelievably helpful-- I had car trouble and the owner (I believe-- I'm so sorry I didn't get your name!) came out to offer her help and fixed the problem! Thank you!
Great time , my first time there with my husband and friends wine was delicious and the staff very nice . I will be back
Great place!
It's a beautiful place but on weekends it is so crowded that it is impossible to go to bathroom without waiting ten minutes in line. If it's a quiet glass or bottle you are looking for search other CT options.
Great wine. Great views!
The best!
Bring your own food, no limit on the terrific wine you can try and picnic in the field by the house. Never had a bad time here.
Good wines to match the beautiful views
Great vineyard with picturesque views. Joe the owner is a wonderful guy with a great vision.
Great experience at this vineyard and the views were amazing as well! Who knew the Wallingford area has such great landscapes anyway? Very pleased with the wine selection as someone who usually chooses liquor but the Gouveia Cayuga White was my favorite and we bought a bottle as well. Great place to spend a relaxing afternoon of it’s nice outside with the sprawling landscape around. You can even bring your dog outside with you which, obviously makes everything better! Would have liked to see more staff behind the bar as the women running it seemed a bit overwhelmed. Will definitely be back again, though!
Good
Try the chocolate wine
Great winery
Amazing view, wine and staff. I love that you can bring your own food. The view is perfect. I do wish you were allowed to drink down by the lake and walk through the vineyards. I've visited multiple times since moving here. The rose is my fav!
Beautiful scenery. Great wine. Really nice experience
Beautiful setting. I tried their house sangria and it was incredible. I was only disappointed in the fact that they don't sell it, other than by the glass.
Nice place to go on a Friday night, drink some wine and watch the sun set.
Nice stone house, good scenery, wine a little bit "meh". They should offer to rinse the glass when wine tasting.
Great wine's with great views.
Horrible service. In their defense, it was a busy day but they had no signs or people telling you how to get a tasting and workers at the bar were to busy to respond to questions. After waiting in two "wrong" lines for an aggregate 30+ minutes, We just got frustrated and left.
A great winery to sit with friends and family especially outside on the grounds. Great wine, friendly staff and beautiful views!
Our favorite winery in CT by far! The staff is always excellent and the views and seating year round is amazing!
Wines were fine, but we were rushed through vour tasting. We will try another time, hopefully with more friendly results.
Big fans of the view and the food policy, not big fans of the wine or the outside drink policy. Wine is OK, but we usually head here because it's a great view that makes for a great picnic. They don't allow any outside beverages, including water (maybe they had a problem with people sneaking clear liquor? or people coming to use their private land as a picnic site?) But it's a great afternoon with friends, family, or for a date.
Nice friendly. Lot of picnic tables.
Beautiful view! Tasty wines! Loved the Sangria!! Love that we could bring our own food and sit and their tables while tasting local wines!
Awesome scenery and decent wine.
Not much for ambiance other than the view. Wine is nice. Plenty of seating.
Bring you own food, enjoy the local wine. Wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. If it rains, prepare for a little bit of mud. Tables are great for those muddy days, but bring a picnic basket and blanket otherwise. Seating is also provided inside for gloomy days. Great place for families, groups of friends, and also dog friendly.
Nice CT winery for grabbing a bottle or a wine tasting. Really stream lined process - quick and efficient. The staff was excellent.
We went with friends on their 25th wedding Anniversary. The reason they picked Gouveia Vineyards , is their last Name is Gouveia. We met the owners Family of the Gouveia vineyard, Joe Gouveia. We ended up buying some bottles of wine. Wallingford was a nice fiendly place, when some restaurants heard it was their 25th wedding Anniversary , they didnt charge for the food, some gave deserts for all of us on the house. Sadly Gouveia Vineyards didnt acknowledge or give anything to the Gouveias on their 25th wedding anniversary even when they mentioned it to Joe & his Wife their 25th Anniversary ,its my last visit to the Gouveia Vineyards.
Great view for a warm spring day. Affordable bottles bring your own food great outdoor seating (on a bit of a hill) there is some construction taking place currently which takes away from the appeal a bit
Wine is delicious but it's not the friendliest wait staff. I found them to be a bit standoffish and rude. Perhaps they lack training? I did purchase two bottles of wine but still didn't get a nod, a smile or a thank you. Too bad. It's a lovely place.
Great views and great wine. One of my favorite vineyards in Connecticut.
Terrible staff! NEVER AGAIN
Great staff relaxing atmosphere educational tour oh and the wines pretty good to
Amazing views! Wish there was a little more focus on the wine tasting as it was kind of a here try this and then buy a bottle. Would recommend this to friends of a larger party, maybe not so much for a romantic date. All in all, good time.
Nice place to spend a afternoon or whenever. Great outdoor views of the surrounding area. Inside seating or patio or tables outside on the grass which is great for the kids. Nice pond to walk around and check out the giant snapping turtle and painted turtles. Oh yeah the wine is great also. All around nice fun place. Lots of parking also. Drone pics or video contact me ! I got nice ones
Beautiful atmosphere inside and out. Do to earth and friendly staff. Wine was excellent.
Beautiful setting with amazing views. Wines are okay but staff is very friendly.
Wine is just ok... Experience zero. They have a seating area on the back of the property that is muddy and smells awful. I don't recommend their meat and cheese platter either. There are so many nice wineries in CT, but this one isn't one of them.
Love it. Went beginning of November and the colors of the changing trees was beautiful and the wine tasting marvelous. Great variety of good wine.
We had a nice experience and great time
Wines are very good and the location is gorgeous. A nice spot to spend a couple of hours. Be sure to check out the turtles in the pond.
Nice venue. Some really good wine selections. Bring some food and enjoy.
It is lovely.
Great spot and very accommodating to larger groups
Wines are NOT that GREAT, neither is the 'attitude' of the staff, beautiful view, that's it
It was truly upsetting to attend a tasting here today. For the second year in a row, I was extremely disappointed in the wine. It appears that with the gains in popularity the winery is struggling with consistency and wines that I used to favor are being tasted either prematurely or are shadows of their former excellence. I realize many wineries are crowded and sometimes struggle to keep up with demand but I've far more respect for one which pulls anything they run out of rather than pushing a sub-standard product. The staff also appeared to struggle with the chaos... unable to keep up with checking IDs and no signage to direct guests to the bar to do a tasting versus purchasing glasses & bottles.
Beautiful location. Fun local band "The Big Ideas". Good wine. Bring your own food. Nice relaxing night out.
Beautiful winery and vineyards with breathtaking views! Recommend doing a wine tasting every time because the wines do change from year to year. Have always had a wonderful time here!
The ambiance and mulled wine was great. But after 2 mulled wines, they refused to serve us ! Even though we had a designated driver (me!!). We drove an hour to celebrate a birthday...all for 2 cups of wine :/
Beautiful views, delicious wine
Beautiful day to hang out with my people, enjoy the view and enjoy the wine.
This restataunt is very very plesing !!! There very good service and excielent veiw!!! The veiw is so pretty and how you can relax outside !! The service is so good expicially two worker named Dawn and Alicia! You can bring food buh not drinks!! And the kids can come and have juice boxes!! Mr.Govia vineyard are amazing!! I extremly and highly recommend this place and be ready to chill with a pleasant veiw and a bottle of wine!!!
I came here with my family for an outing on a Friday afternoon and can't say enough about how beautiful the location is. The view combined with the gorgeous building is amazing. When we got there he parking lot had plenty of room and there was seating inside and out. A jazz type band was also beginning to set up. However they only had one bar open to do tastings and sell bottles/glasses and it made the line extremely slow. If they had taken one bar for tastings alone and the other just for bottles and glasses it would have been much quicker. The wine is good, their Pinot gregio is nice and refreshing on a hot dinner day especially. However overall a good time and if recommend visiting purely to see the beautiful spot.
Great place with equally great wine. They don't serve food but they allow you to bring in any food you'd like and you can eat it either indoors or outside on picnic tables/whatnot. Awesome place to have a social event with some friends!
Loud indoors with long waits, long bathroom lines, very nice grounds, nice wines 26+ per bottle
Beautiful views and great wine. Plenty of seating
We went there for a friend's birthday. They do not allow you to bring balloons in but that was okay. The wine is good and the views are beautiful. You can forget you're in Wallingford. It can get a little tight in the building if it is cold out. I think it's a great place to go in the spring or fall.
Nice setting, nice wines, but a bit chaotic. You walk in and no one greets you, so you're not really sure what to do or where to go.
very loud and crowded. preselected wines only for tastings. not cool
Far less busy compared to paradise hills and the view is outstanding. Staff is mostly engaged and informative. The wines are very decent. Well worth it to pack a picnic and make a day of your trip there.
