REVIEWS OF Echo Hill Orchards & Winery IN Connecticut

Lindsey Gravel

Their wines are sugary, and have gone down hill each time we visit. Their moonshine tastes good, but their wines we all had to do a countdown to drink them during the tasting. We were all pushing them off on each other. Go to Queen Bee for real wines!

Eric Haviland

Not baby friendly. Each person charged to enter even if only picking one larger bag. Better for older children.

Meaghan Rydzak

Their apples are way over priced and you have to pay $5 even if you are not picking just to walk in their field unless you buy a large bag. You can’t just by a little bag for a flat price and go pick. They have tons of rotten fruit on the ground and it’s the beginning of September that people could have bought up had they been cheaper. After we picked we bought a gallon of apple cider and donuts to sit and enjoy with the kids. We chose to sit inside (which I remember being able to do a couple years ago) because of the bees outside in the front. When we sat down we had someone tell us that we couldn’t sit there because of their liquor license. So our only option was to sit outside. We sat at a table on the front deck and we were literally swarmed with bees landing on our hands, our donuts and on and inside our cups while we were trying to relax. We moved far off to the front field and they were just as bad. We moved over to the picnic tables next to the pond and it was the same I could barely pour my own cider. It seems as though they are more accommodating to people that go for wine and wine tasting and not families with children. I don’t think we will go here again!

This winery was very quaint in that it is a small tasting room located in the walk out basement of a home. The space is nicely done however and it doesn't take away from the fact the husband and wife team make some yummy wines there. The backyard has a beautiful view of the mountain and grape vines which you can see as you walk into the tasting room. The wines were good and only $5 for a tasting. Although you can't stay and drink the wines there, We ended up taking home a few bottles to enjoy at home. Roy was pleasant to chat with and very knowledgeable about what he does. I give this couple a ton of credit for the beautiful home and wines. Thanks for sharing your hard work with us! Rebecca & Mark Czepiel

had to almost physically engage someone trying to steal a parking spot which took me roughly 7 minutes to even find. Then you have to pay 5 dollars to even look at their apples and pumpkins! Just to lay eyes on a pumpkin youre paying 5 bucks per person. Thats two pumpkins elsewhere, plus if you were elsewhere everything else is a bit more affordable too. Im sorry but I just cant get over paying 5 dollars to essentially gain nothing but entrance to a place to pay more money where nobody is dressed like Merlin or bugs bunny. Old timey gift shop is fairly extensive with quilts, candlesticks and lots of other stuff youd see at your grandmothers house. Hot dogs smelled good too.

Harry Rodriguez

Excellent variety of Apple based wines. All bottle prices are average at $14 to $17. They only give about 1 oz taste each of five different wines for $10. They really should give a little more.

Went here mainly for the wine tasting but also to pick apples. The wine was AWFUL. We had to pour some of them out it was so bad. And I was walking around, I noticed a lot of others doing the same. No tasting glass, and it was 10 bucks a tasting. It was a pretty spot but we can pick apples elsewhere.

This is the type of place you think of when you talk about a hard working family running a small quaint American business. Their hard work clearly shows through hand crafted candles and merchandise, a wide variety of the family's brews of wines and moonshiners with custom tastings. Apple cider, cider doughnuts, apples and picking in their well maintained and well producing orchards, not to mention a beautiful view. Great place run by a very friendly dedicated family who certainly take a lot of pride in what they do. Thanks Echo Hill

From the mom who was trying to wrangle a toddler who was running out the back door to the unpleasant woman working on 10/4- it was super unhelpful when you screeched at me that I had to pay before going outside. Got it. Mind if I grab my baby first so he doesn’t get hurt? We just left to go get apples elsewhere- don’t need any of your limited variety.

5 stars for a beautiful building and great gift shop and the moonshine was good. Definitely disappointed with the wine. They all tasted like cough medicine.

Only my 3rd visit, but it's always great! Nice all wood decor, wonderful shop for fun things to decorate the house, ample wine and moonshine selections, there's apple picking, haunted hayrides, and other seasonal events. Very friendly staff and free popcorn!

Steve Greany

wish I could leave less than one star. went to the wine tasting and it was $10 for five basically very small samples of wine in plastic cups. The point of the tasting was to lead to the purchase of a bottle so its essentially advertising. Ive been to tastings that for $10 dollars you get to sample every wine and then you keep the nice wine glass with the winery logo. me and the eight people that went with me vow never to go here again.

Took My preschoolers out for a field trip. They had a good time, a little chilly but, fun.

Helder Serrazina

Loved the place. The sale of apples was very overpriced though. I was actually surprised with how expensive fruit is here; tons of it lying wasted and rotting, that visitors would have bought and tasted if it was more affordable.

Lauren Donovan

Absolutely love it here. The grounds are gorgeous, the view of the Holyoke mountain rage can't be beat, and I'm in love with their home made wine and candles!

Locally owned and ran farm. Nice apple pickling with a tractor ride. Good selection of farm made wines, ports, and shines.

Other then being extremely expensive. The fields have not been mowed, so u are walking through waist high grass at times. Understand the draught this year. It kinda seemed like they have used it to fuel their I don't give-a-crap mentality, because we have been trying to sell this place for the past 3 years. U can tell they did not stick to a insecticide sechedule. Every apple we picked and brought home was riddled with larva. It's too bad, the store is great(reason for 2 stars) but the fields suck

Parking is a nightmare during the weekend, ground is muddy and cars without 4 wheel drive were getting stuck, but the price for pick your own apples was decent, staff friendly, the view is amazing and the experience is perfect for a England apple picking, fall time.

Sam

Fruit picking is a bit more expensive than other farms, but the tractor ride is our children's favorite in the area. Get the bee problem under control so we can enjoy cider and donuts without worry!

Pink Fox

They should do something about all the irritating bees outside, otherwise very nice, very fun fall activities!
