A Gamble

This place offers amazing service as well as yummy meals. One of my favourite places in the area. The meals served fast and the prices are inexpensive. Will definitely recommend this spot.

Wine tasting is great and very affordable, food is so good and at cheap prices for what you get, I think the most expensive plate I saw was around $40.00.Restaurant is not full service meaning that you have to order at the desk/counter and they will run your food to the table. Everyone is so nice and attentive, but there is no waiters so you will have to get up and ask for things which I do not mind. People need to stop complaining about service just because you have to get up and ask for something! Everything was great will be coming back soon, really recommend this place.

Had a birthday celebration there and the food was amazing as well as the wine tasting. We had some people bail on us on the tasting and since it was paid already, the guy hosting us decided to make up for it by giving is more samples.(which he didn't need to do). Make sure to try and get Hector for the tasting. He is amazing. We didn't know much about wine in general but he was very patient and help explain it all. Now for the food, totally just right on the price. I've paid more for worse food. Way better than Olive Garden and it will not disappoint. My mom is picky with the restaurant she likes but she left the plate squeaky clean. She loved it. I posted two pictures below, one of how the menu is presented and one of my food. All in all, a great experience. Definitely going back

I love this place. It opened in 1917 in what was then Little Italy. It is still run by the original family. The history behind this place is fascinating. The food is authentic Italian and delicious. The wines are excellent. There is a large wine tasting room with a large variety of wines. They also have winery tours. Everyone is very friendly. Good place for families and couples.

Stopped by to purchase a few bottles and our host was gracefully inviting. Quickly recommended the best deal for the amount of bottles we inquired about and left with two cases - Two bottles more than intended at a better price. Afterwards the gentleman walked my cousins and I through a tasteful flight of wines that had our mouths salivating for more. Resulting in an additional purchase of two more bottles. We regret not getting your name but do want to say thank you and Happy early 47th anniversary of your 21st birthday! We'll be back

Beautiful place, went for weekday lunch. Generous portions, wide variety, cafeteria style to the next level, live music, excellent service. At the entrance you can do wine tasting. Had the filet mignon pasta and seared tuna salad and it was good, the meat was tasty and tender. You may also order from great variety of sandwiches along with many desserts. They also have sample plates brute you order, to see how the meals look.

This one gets five stars because it's a part of Los Angeles history and the food is great. If you like wine you'll pass out when you enter the front door. Keep going to the restaurant and you'll see all of the plates set out as examples. You know exactly what you're going to get. The service is First Rate, I felt like I was at a five star hotel. You really must give this L.A. Landmark a try.

First time here for a friends farewell dinner. Very nice place but wasn't expecting the cafeteria style restaurant. The food was okay. The wine bottle that we chose was very good. They have sample plates on display of the meals you can choose from. You order and they give you your salad and bread on a platter and they give you a place card with the name of the main meal that you choose and they'll bring it to you when its ready. Mine took a while to come out and when it did, it was lukewarm. For a big party, however, it turned out to work out well because we avoided having to do the whole splitting the check bit at the end.

We had a wonderful experience. I started with wine tasting and was very impressed with them. In fact, I purchased a few bottles. We were meeting some friends for dinner, all our first times. Our friends were running late and we had ended up chatting with Santo. He made sure the restaurant stayed open to serve us. The service was excellent as was the food. In fact, we ordered family style and didn't even finish it all. Delicious, homemade Italian food. Just like our mom prepared! The recipes are original from the founder's wife who started the restaurant, Maddalena. We will be back! Thank you so much for making our visit so special!

Tom took us on the tour and blew our minds. We had no idea the time and effort it takes to make wine. And the different conditions and time tables for the different varieties of grapes/wines. After that it was the tasting! $7 for 4 samples. I didn't drink wine before this, but now I'm all in. Dinner at the restaurant to cap it all off. The friendliest and most attentive staff I've encountered in quite some time. We had a couple of pasta dishes that were hearty, flavorful, and a great value. And while we were in line, one of the owners walked up and handed us complimentary glasses of chardonnay! Definitely going back!

We often come to Paso Robles for wine tasting and have visited numerous good wineries in area, but never been to San Antonio Winery. I'm familiar with their Stella Rosa wines and had them before at a few family functions. So we recently had the opportunity to visit this illustrious winery and absolutely enjoyed it. They're situated east of highway 46 and first winery visible on left, corner of Buena Vista Drive. The winery has beautiful grounds and a gorgeous tasting room, perfect for photo ops. Gift shop offers a huge selection of their wines, assortment gift boxes, and hand crafted items. You can order food at counter and sit inside the Bistro for lunch. When it comes to wine, I prefer bold, full bodied type selection leaning mostly to reds. Tasting are very reasonable and normal glass pours. I got Central Coast Flight for $7, 4 taste from selection of red and white wines. My favorites are San Simeon Merlot and Syrah. Syrah has deep color, round tannins (tannins refer to dryness, bitterness and astringency of a wine), long lengthy finish of vanila, oak spice and subtle cinnamon. Merlot offers full bodied flavor with soft tannins and nuances of dark chocolate. Nice aroma from black fruit, mint, and oak spice as result of barrel aging. Reasonable price $20 range and both recommended. Service is wonderful, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Only downside is restrooms are portable toilets (porta potty). Not a big deal if you're guy (LOL!), but at least they're slightly bigger and nicer than the average porta potty. All in all, we enjoyed our visit and will definitely swing by when we visit Paso Robles.

The food here is amazing and tastey. Everything is very fresh and the wine selection is nearly endless. Overall the ambiance is great for a date night or just going out with friends. Also you can go on a tour of the winery but I didn't get a chance this time. They also have a little store in the restaurant if just want to choose one of their many wines or pick from some of their other items (like organic blackberry jam. Yum). I'm definitely going to go back. I would recommend this place to wine lovers and anyone who wants to try something a little different.

I wanted to visit here while we were in LA, and it was great! We did a wine tasting (would recommend, even though its something like $5 to try 4 kinds of wine). I think David helped us, and even mixed chocolate port and berry wine for me, which was delicious. If anyone sees him, please tell him that the whiskey he talked all about was very good. We really appreciated his good humour and knowledge of all the items we questioned. We also ate at the restaurant, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. You walk in, and there are plates of food on display to show you what you can order. Not even a picture; a real plate! We got a salad (i forget which one), a ravioli plate (i think), a cheese plate, and a carrot cake. The salad was not too fancy, but very very good. The dressing definitely elevated it, as it was one of the best dressings ive ever had. The ravioli was also delicious, covered in sauce that complemented it so well. The carrot cake waa also good; not too sweet, but still tasting like cake. There was live music as well: a man played guitar while we sat and ate, and the ambiance was just lovely. We both thought it would be such a nice place to hold a wedding, as there is enough wood to feel rustic, but enough fanciness to feel fresh. If we ever find ourselves in LA again, I know i will be hard pressed to not visit.

The Service: The Wine Shop Manager, Dominic, is FANTASTIC!! He has great personality. Wonderful customer service!! He is super knowledgeable and informative. He gave our group private wine tasting and winery tour. We had a blast!! The Wine Tasting: $5 wine tasting. Can't beat that price!! Dominic chose great selection of wine. He separated our group into "sweet" & "dry". So we all could get to try the selection of wines that fit our preference. The Winery Tour: This winery started in 1917.... two more years it is going to be 100 years anniversary. I hope they are going to do a big celebration! Dominic is such a great tour guide, he knows the history so well. We learn so much about wine! The Parking: They have their own private parking lot. If the lot is full, lots of street parking (free). This winery is hidden in the industrial area. Huge space.... wine tasting room, retail portion (wine, snacks, accessories, etc). They also have a restaurant, private party rooms, wine classes, etc. And yes, they are in Los Angeles!! No need to drive up north for good wine anymore!!! Love it~

My first time at the Maddalena Restaurant. The history is so thick you can cut it with a knife!!! I give it high marks because they do a lot of things right. The food is good. The staff is friendly and fast. I had to wait a few more minutes while my wife had already gotten her food. One of the staffers noticed it and gave us two free beers for the inconvenience!!! Giorgio is one of the managers and he is the real deal!!! Ask for him and you get the red carpet treatment. I’m in the wine business and I can tell you the wines are terrific and prices are great.

Love love love this place!! Felt like a hidden gem of DTLA I can't believe growing up in L.A. I've never been before 9/2/2018. One amazing factor is PARKING! they have a lot and it's FREE!! My gf brought me here on my birthday weekend which lands on labor day weekend so I guess everyone goes out of town because I can see this place getting packed but it wasn't on that day. Just the way I like it! You can do a wine tasting, with a huge selection to sample and even buy to take home!! Super friendly staff, very informative. Four samples for $5 I don't think you can beat that anywhere!! We had to do two rounds each because the selection list all sounded amazing. Highly recommend this winery for a chill pre dinner activity

Went here for a co-workers retirement luncheon. The food was great but the service wasn't. My co-workers returned her undercooked burger because it was just too bloody. The server (young lady w/ short black hair) had an attitude and tells my coworker with an attitude "Next time ask for it well done" well maybe there won't be a next time! No matter how great the food was, bad attitude like hers will stop me from returning.
