REVIEWS OF Buena Vista Winery IN California

Rissy La Touche

I came here for my birthday with three friends and Don was an amazing host. He tailored the tasting to our wine preference, and took us on an impromptu photoshoot around the property so that we had some shots of the four of us from the trip. Would definitely visit again!

Victor Ursan

Attended a wedding ceremony and party at this place and all I can say it was a nice experience since entire facility was booked for the wedding. Enjoyed white, pink and red wine but on top of all was the red as my #1 Very nice view and pleasant place to spend time.

Dan Mattison

This winery was a great experience. We did a barrel tour, which included a tasting and a tour of the grounds that lasted 1.5 hours. This winery has an amazing history and story, going back to their founder in the mid 1800's. Jim was our tour guide, and we were lucky to have him. He was very knowledgeable and engaging, and certainly did not rush through the tour (it seems he has a reputation for long tours based on the jokes from his manager). We loved the in depth tour, and overall it was a great value. The wines were good too.

Jonathan Leger

Great stop on our wine tour. Beautiful estate, very interesting history. Our guide was Amber, who was very knowledgeable and passionate about her work.

Coco Jaenicke

Crowded and touristy. Buses welcome! Many tipsy bridesmaids tottering on platform shoes.

Danielle Vinson

We had great service, Brandon and Rebecca were very attentive and knowledgeable. The wine was fantastic; I’m typically not a red drinker, but this winery may convert me. The grounds are beautiful

Ron Robertson

Very old established winery. If your visiting you can't go wrong here as it's one of the first wineries in the area. Easy on and off highway, right in between Napa and Sonoma.

Istvan Jonyer

The wines were just okay, the tour was not really impressive and only took about 10 minutes. The audio-visual show at the end is interesting though. Their sherry is amazing, but also pricey.

Jennifer Pollack

Don was the best guide! Wonderful experience!

Jake Fugleberg

Oldest in Cali. Interesting tour.

J. McKenzie

This place was amazing! The tour and tour guide Bruce was so incredible and informative. All the wines were delicious! A wonderful way to start this trip to Sonoma!

Vishal Morari

The experience was amazing, we took the tour of the winery and had the luck of getting Jim, he had alot of knowledge and history about the winery and wine making processes, gave us the tour with alot of fun facts and humor. Overall we had alot of fun. If you are in the area, I definately recommend this winery as a stop.

The grounds and the ambience are a lot of fun. They have some places to sit outside and a lot of photographic scenery. Unfortunately I was not. Fan of the wines really. Not the worst I've had of course but for the price there are better wines out there.

Jason Weilage

Stay away, your group can get a better experience elsewhere. A group of us went to this winery, and spent $65, bought a bottle of wine for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we returned their glassware, and asked for a cork because we collect them. We were told "no, we save them for someone else." I quietly left the tasting room thinking that was the worst response they could have used. Guess what Buena Vista, you not only lost business to your sister wineries but also potential wine club members. All over a cork that should be mine anyways seeing I bought the bottle for lunch. Thanks for the worst memory of our trip into sonoma.

George Richard

Excellent service. Alicia was a great wine tasting guide. Best experience in Sonoma.

Fran B

My review is solely based on service. The most important. It’s abismal. There’s an outdoor setup WITHOUT a register!!! Makes NO sense. The gal had to go back and forth with payments and the lines were getting long. So it took forever to get a glass of wine. Also, the staff has to wear costumes. Dumb. The wine is alright but the grounds are spectacular- come for the grounds, stay for a glass of wine, you’re lucky if you can get two.

Cesar Park

Diane thank you for your 5 stars service. Wonderful experience

Darick Tong

Beautiful winery grounds with theme-park style exhibits describing the history of the winery, including a hedge maze that's fun for kids. The two-story tasting room has a classic feel of old-American grandeur, and the staff is very nice. This is the only place in Sonoma that sells an official Champagne (as opposed to a sparkling wine). The wines themselves have a New World feel that is typically of the wines of Sonoma and Napa.

Kurt Rose

The Sheriff wine is terrific! Rather than doing a full tasting, the server gave us short tastes of a couple that sounded good to us. We got a bottle of Sheriff and it was even better than the small taste. We drink a lot of red wines and this blend is one of the best we have had. The place is very attractive and comfortable. We sat outside and enjoyed the view and weather. The barrel house was enjoyable to check out. A hedge maze on the way to the parking lot was fun to walk through.

shaina rasmussen

Tour is very long and very boring. Wine is fine. Beautiful location. Please save yourself a headache and skip the tour though. Information presented dully and repeated 3-4 times. The tour lasted 1.5 hours when it could have been 20 min. Good spot to stop and have a glass of wine though,

Mark Huha

Alicia was a terrific hostess!

James Borkman

Beautiful historic winery in Sonoma. The tasting was complemented by the incredibly warm staff and historic atmosphere. A definite stop on any wine tour!

Sasakthi Abeysinghe

Nice old architecture and of course the wine

Nikolay Molchanov

Very nice place, very good wines!

Amanda G

Really Great! Unique spot

Derrick Harris

Very nice wines in a beautiful setting. The grounds were so nice. The tasting area was nice as well. Service was great!

Cassie Doutt

Over my Christmas Holiday we made a reservation at Buena Vista Winery. It was my first winery experience that day and it was the best winery experience during my time in Sonoma Valley. The moment we set foot on the location was breathtaking. The landscaping is beautiful and elegant and the infrastructure was reminiscent of something out of a secret garden with ivy. Walking into the tasting room, I felt warm and comfortable. It is definitely a classy wine tasting room and the attention to detail almost makes you forget you are wine tasting, but rather in a different world of romance and dim lighting. Our wine expert, a gentleman who I apologize, I forgot his name, was from Europe and had an exquisite knowledge on different grapes and the different wines. I talked to him about a trip to Uruguay where I tasted the Tannat wine and grapes and he spoke to me about those with poise and grace. Needless to say, I did not taste a single wine from this winery that I did not enjoy or fall in love with. They were all exceptional, including the sparkling Rose which was beautiful in color and bubbly in taste. The flavors and light floral and berry hints were just what I needed to start my wine tasting day. Then we immersed ourselves in the Cabernet, the Pinot Noir, and the Merlot. My favorite was the more robust Cab. Since I've been home, in LA, I have been spreading the word like wildfire about Buena Vista and look forward to more wine from the winery soon.

Rick Dalderis

Great staff pouring delicious wines. Beautiful historic winery. Worth the trip

Joe Nastri

One of the nicer top-tier wineries in Sonoma Co. Buena Vista had a nice quality selection of wines. Good tasting menu as well. Lovely landscaped gardens. Definitely go into the 2 main customer buildings for tastings (one dedicated for wine, another for bubbly).

Jason Guy

The wines are good. As a member though, I've reserved tastings at the bubble lounge 4 times so far... Only one of those times was my reservation actually recorded when I got there... Everyone has been mostly friendly except for one pourer who I quite honestly might cancel my membership over. She was unbelievably rude! I really don't want that one person to over shadow that the rest of the staff has been very nice and accommodating, but with their track record on not being able to properly keep track of reservations and my experience with that one staff member... I really question whether or not I want to remain a member here at this winery. I'm really hoping things get better here as I really wanted to like this place.

Kristina Daily

A beautiful winery tucked away in Sonoma. This winery has beautiful grounds and wonderful wine. My husband and I were so glad we stopped here! The tasting was given to us for free to celebrate our Anniversary. :)

Matt Warren

Very nice tasting; good value; friendly staff.

Madeline Green

Outdoor patio is very nice and well kept. Great for enjoying a glass of wine and sharing a snack

Alexia Bonkowski

Beautiful grounds, but when we tried to get service for a tasting, we were ignored.

jennifer butler

Heard good things about this winery but was underwhelmed and disappointed by the service. Much better properties with better service in the area. I would recommend skipping this site.

Maria Level

This is a cute place with no service. We made a reservation and arrived to a huge line of people in front of us waiting for tasting. We didn't have time to wait because we had another tasting so the only thing they offered was for us to grab a bottle and cheese from the refrigerator and drink it. Guess what, there was no cheese and they didn't even bother to get more for us. We had to ask for the cups and the bucket to keep our wine cold (with a cold pack instead of ice). Whatever, when wine we picked was great, but I would never recommend this winery or come back here.

Joseph Hart

Amazing wine only a mile from downtown Sonoma. Great property and location on top of great wine. Some great cabs and zins.

Alyssa Stone

One of the oldest wineries in the area, started in 1857. Phenomenal wines. Period. A MUST visit. Tim was our wine-pourer and he let us try a multitude of varietals, even off menu, that he thought we needed to experience. We tried both flights, the Reserve as well as the Count's flight. Mia gave us a quick run-down of the history of the winery.

Steve G

One of the first wineries in northern California, so historically interesting. Good wine, as well.

Abdallah Harati

Fantastic experience visiting this winery. Very nice reception, with well explained tour and outstanding wine tasting. Atmosphere really takes you back in history and brings an excellent time in visiting the place

Jean-Michel Pranno

Came back for another visit years after our last here. Still one of our favourite for the history and the vibe. Last time here, we aged the bottle we got for about 5 years and it was awesome. Hoping for more of the same. Definitely recommend.

Sean Wilson

Awesome experience! The Bubble Lounge is incredible. Diane is a great hostess. Amazing history here.

Jeff Kendall

Great wines. Staff is pretty good. The facility is beautiful. There are picnic tables in several locations. Summer in the sun summer in shade. If you join their wine club, you'll have access to several other wineries not just in this area but in other areas on the West Coast.

Hugo Murphy

We are members and just had some extra time on our way home Sunday. Everyone who works the tasting room is amazing. We had only been in one other time but Brandon remembered us and made it even more welcoming. I would recommend this winery to everyone. If you bring food you can open a bottle and sit outside.

E McCuaig

Beautiful setting with excellent Pinot Noir!

Michelle Unger

Standout winery is an area with exceptional vineyards. The wines are consistently good, and staff isn’t pretentious (unlike many Sonoma and Napa vineyards). As California’s oldest winery, the grounds and tasting room has an 1850s vibe with the decoration. I became a member, and can’t wait to go back!

David Reinke

We joined their wine club more than 10 years ago. Love visiting to pick up our wine shipment. Wines are very good. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have some great special events, too.

Ohad Kravchick

Quiet picnic tables and easygoing wine

Matt Bruce

My first California winery visit and I loved it.

Vilma Anderson

Beautiful winery to visit. Big grounds. Great sitting area outside to enjoy your wine tasting. $20 per person, includes 4 wines. Check ahead on website for tour times.

Christine Peluso

Beautiful tasting room.

Paula Faucheux

Amazing grounds! Love the tour and history of tbe vineyard!

Yasmin Monteiro Baptista

Wonderful experience, delicious wines and amazing service!! If you are here you should look for Tim. The best server I had in Sonoma and Napa. He knows his wines, the history behind the winery and gives great recommendations! Plus, his is very friendly and thoughtful! He made our day!

Sia Ahmadi

Went to three wineries in Sonoma and Napa. This was the best. They had clearly put more effort into distinguishing themselves (with their vintage decor and costumes and the amazing environment they had created for their customers' enjoyment) which was much appreciated.

Paulo Costa

Wonderful experience!

Justin Halvorson

Tim Nunn was an excellent host. Some of the best wines we tasted in Napa/Sonoma area.

Will Miska

There are no grapes grown on the property anymore, but the original tasting room is like taking step back in time. Don provided a great experience telling stories and explaining the history of the vineyard, and I couldn't be happier with my decision to visit...if you go you must take a tour and check out the "champagne room", that is all you need to see to know the class of people that would frequent this establishment.

William Schenk

Very old winery, excellent wine.

Marcus Zabokrtsky

You need to stop in just for the historical value, great wine and a good hike around the vineyards!

Tom Minchin

Going to a few other wineries before hand helped. Lovely building and great value wine. The show is a bit Las Vegas sideshow but fun enough with a wine in your hand.

Stuart Thomas

Knowledgeable sommeliers and staff who are eager to help. Beautiful surroundings with a genuine respect for history.

Jim Smaga

Beautiful winery, the staff was amazing and very friendly

Mark O'Renick

Oldest winery in California. Grounds are nice. Cheesy, tourist trap experience. Being nice, the wines struggle to be average. $25 for the tour and tasting and the guide made fun of other winery experiences saying what a terrible value they are.

Robin Fravel

It's Las Vegas all the way. Their champagne room reminds me of a porn site. Bet they could film some doozies in that room. Their infection control practices are very "iffy". The winery tour guide took us barrel tasting and touched the spigot with her fingers after each pour and then put it back into the barrel. Really scary. It's an experience all right, just not the wine cellar kind.

Zachary Little

Sonoma obviously has some incredible wineries all over , but this place takes the cake! Not only is the wine incredible, but the experience itself is so entertaining, engaging and fun. If you want to go somewhere that is not only gorgeous , unique venue ,great wine, but also to be WOW’d and entertained , this is the place. The entire staff on the property are kind, humerous, and have unique background stories if you decide to get to know them. We had Sara give us the grand tour , champagne room, gold room, and full tasting. Sara really knows how to make you and your group feel special, she is so knowledgeable on the history of the winery, but also has many contacts/recommendations around Sonoma/Napa that she can recommend you to. Who doesn’t want to go somewhere everyone knows your name? If you’re going to Buena Vista, make sure you ask for her. You will not be disappointed ! Side note; we had the pleasure of meeting the owner of the place, Jean Pierre, easily one of the kindest, most genuine , well dressed man I’ve ever met. It speaks volumes when someone at his level of success is so down to earth. That felt special to me

Ashutosh Saxena

Amazing place. Try their cave tour!

hongduk choi

Good taste winery.

Craig Humphreys

This winery and their wines are fabulous. The history, the location, the quality of the wine, all have almost no peer.

Bryan Nolan

We came here for a wine tasting and had an amazing experience. Tim was our server and did a great job explaining everything to us. We are not extremely knowledgeable about wine so we greatly appreciated the information. We will definitely be back!

Vickie Haraszthy

Make a reservation for a special experience in the Champagne Lounge! Diane was wonderful! Thank you!

Jesus Frias

We tasted Reserve Pinot Noir and it was great.

S P

Oldest winery in California.

Joel Palmer

We get up to Buena Vista as often as possible - the wines are great, prices reasonable, staff fantastic, and the special events are always a blast. There are a couple of nice picnic spots on the grounds, a museum with historical wine equipment, and the oldest premium winery in CA, all making for a great afternoon visit.

Alex S.

Our favorite winery that we visited in Napa. Beautiful grounds, great history, and incredibly friendly staff. There are plenty of wineries and options in the area but this is a must visit.

Amy Alvis

Great tasting experience, beautiful surroundings

Riki Lee Darke

Fantastic service from Brandon. Great wines. Great staff. I would absolutely come back.

hardlyworkinghere .

Great wines and very helpful staff! They were equally generous with tasting other products not on the tasting menu.

Nicole Mosqueira

Great wines and an amazing history. I did the barrel tour and tasting and Buena Vista was definitely interesting. The property has such an amazing history, Our tour guide was friendly and personable. The wines were pretty spectacular as well. I was extremely interested in the little personal touches that the new owner has put on the place. However, it is a high tourist area, which did take away from the overall experience.

Tom Buske

Lovely historic location..great wines..and a wonderfully friendly and witty staff. Our party of 4 (all of who joined the wine club) thought this was a highlight out of the 10 wineries we toured during our recent trip to Sonoma. Can't wait to get our first shipment! Thank you Buena Vista!

Paul Shonka

Place where art, beauty and elegance blend seamlessly. Never mind that my daughter works there.

Daniel Egerter

Anyone who has been here over the years will be amazed at the transformation. Beautiful landscaping and nice place to try out wines.

Laurie Stone

Very RUDE! We drove from Sacramento to the winery to do some wine tasting, and when we arrived at the counter, I asked the server the cost of wine tasting and if we bought a bottle would the tasting fee be waved. She replied yes and as I started to ask for a wine list, still speaking to her.... she just walked away and left me speechless. So we walked out, no way were we giving them ANY of our money. Very unprofessional and rude!!!

Paulina Serrano Gutierrez

The wine in Buena Vista Winery is really good. The price for the tasting is not too expensive. The place is nice, yo can take the wine outside and relax.

Wai Chan

This can be either a 4 star or 5 star place depending on who is serving you. Look for Vasile Chicu, my first visit, I left considering buying 1 bottle. With Vasile's suggestions I ended up actually purchasing more than a dozen. The samplings range from $20 or $35 for their reserve. That puts it at $8.75 for per one ounce for their reserve tasting with the wines ranging from $50-$75 They have some stellar wines however and their tour is quite nice. If you get the chance defintely go do the "be the count blending experience"! You will need at least 2 days advanced notice. This gives them a chance to discuss with you how you would like your private label done for the customized wine you will blend. The second picture is of the private room that you will be in. You will be guided by a wine educator to create 3 different blends to your taste. They also offer weddings, which is no surprise. As we toured I have to say all the rooms were beautifully appointed, perfect for pictures. As with many wineries here, some bottles are only sold at the location. I'd recommend the 2015 private reserve Chardonnay ($55 bottle) as well as the 2015 private reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($75 bottle). If you join the wine club they are offered at a reduced price. They have a few other options such as a picnic, a bubbles room and more. A fun thing to note is they are all in costume. Note for people with mobility issues: The parking lot is not close to the winery. You can request for a golf cart ride up. There is also closer handicap parking up the ways, though it doesn't look like you should be driving up there.

Jeff Nabity

Highly recommended the wine tour, it's fun and pleasantly weird :) Amazing property and great wine!

Corliss Saland

Always warm, inviting, and wonderful wines.

Nate Gaylinn

A little cheesy atmosphere, but some very interesting wines.

Melissa Simpson

Became a wine club member after tasting the Buena Vista Legendary Badge 2012. A great wine at a great price is not an easy find in Sonoma. We will be back many more times for events and great wine

M Lavalled

Awesome! Love The Count. Thanks for the hospitality!

Jalal Saad

Lovely spot for a picnic. Enjoyed the wine.

Hayley Kidd

Fabulous experience! Would go back in a heartbeat. Very delicious wine and staff was very informative !

Zachary Loebel-Fried

Lovely winery with great pinots, beautiful gardens to drink and picnic, and rich with history. Membership is great, and the winery is always lively and fun.

Dale Curten

If you love wine and like historical places. This is a must experience. The Staff is so Wonderful, that you can tell they enjoy what they do and where they are. Loved it so much, became members. Dale & Shelia

Sarah F

Staff was super-friendly and helpful without hovering or pushing anything, like in some other wineries. Also the tastings were free - this was the only winery I've visited that didn't charge a fee.

Raoul Foaleng

Great museum, great wine. It was awesome to visit this place.

Robert Koford

Extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. Made us feel welcome and special. Awesome wines and deep history.

Zeke Barragan

Great wines, beautifully idillyc location. Really enjoyed this one!

Scott Montgomery

Glad to see that they kept the historical grounds in tact and the fires did not destroy the place..great wines

Tina Simmons

Classy tasting room with fun talking points. The server was very personable and knowledgeable. A little crowded, but plenty of outdoor seating to relax and enjoy a beautiful afternoon.

JGL

Great winery. We went a champagne experience with the owner Jean-Charles Boisset. It was an amazing experience that I will go to every time they host it.

Michael Estopinal

History and Artistry

Jason Muriel

Beautiful grounds, tasting room, patio.Wines are decent.Nice winery to check out, checks off all the tourist requirements lol.

Jason Noah

Buena Vista has just as much history as it does wine. The thing that sets this winery apart from others is the space. There's a nice walk from the parking lot to the actual tasting room. There's even a maze, if you're so inclined. There's a history of the area, California's wine industry, and America, complete with cut-outs of notable figures. It's a bit odd, but all fun. We didn't have a reservation and had to wait a good while to taste, but the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere inside the tasting room was nice.

Danielle Bragen

Super fun and different. The people are fun and the decor was just awesome. 0

Tricia Everett

Worst tasting I have ever done! I have never left a bad review, but this was a waste of time and money. It was $40/person for a 5 minute tour and three small tastings of wine - I left the tour feeling scammed. We signed up for the barrel tasting, which they talked about for less than a minute. Instead, they took us to the “museum” and showed us an outdated PowerPoint. Very disappointing trip on my birthday! Hope they make this right with their customers because it just made their winery look bad.

Mary Ann Sharits

Beautiful setting. Olive oil and vinegar excellent. Personnel very helpful and friendly. Wines average

Alysia L

Excellent winery with pretty grounds and a maze outside. Inside there's several tastings and you can pay for a tour. Members also have a bubble lounge hidden inside. The tour is very interesting and worth doing if you have time. The pourers are very knowledgeable and friendly. The sheriff's wine is excellent. We also like the champagne! Some of the reds are too dry for our taste, but this winery has a lot of history so it's worth visiting. Lots of parking. JCB property for those who like JCB!

amelia flores

Food was dilish the enviroment wonderful and the company always fun

Jason Harbison

I went here on a recommendation of my Uncle. WORTH IT!! They are currently renovating the landscaping but the tasting room still open. It has a dark and mysterious feel to it. Go upstairs and read about the history of the Winery along with the founders various endeavors. The tasting prices are ok and the wine can be a bit pricey depending on your budget. The cream sherry tastes just like a port from Portugal. The Chardonnay was good. I left with their signature wine that has a very unique label. You will know what I mean when you go.

Jim Beazley

I was an innkeeper for 37 years, we formally owned the Beazley House and Napa. I’ve become a wine club member at Buenavista and had the most delightful tasting at the winery today. Don was our host at the short bar and Absolutely could not of been more welcoming. Thanks Don for taking such great care of us!

Kyle Anderson

Awesome!

Miko Olsen

Great server (Don), even better wine!

Alissa Pullos

We visited this winery in July and it was wonderful! The grounds are beautiful and overall it was an exceptional experience. We did the "Be the Count Blending Experience," and had so much fun. Amanda was an outstanding host for this unique experience. Would definitely recommend!

Dave Audriana

Enjoyable atmosphere & friendly staff. Loved the architecture and overall setting. Felt like we were in an old Italian city. Our server was awesome. I believe her name was Amanda. She was quick, witty, and pure California. I had a glass of wine while my friend, a lover of reds, did a full tasting. We spent some time walking the grounds and taking it all in, which I'm glad we did.

Alberte Katrine Schmidt

This is the oldest vineyard in Northern California and while the patio and outdoor areas and really lovely, the tasting is super touristy. The decor of this place is just plan awful and in poor taste.

Jackie Roewe

Great people and tour. This was a nice hidden gem.

Joseph Peters-Mathews

Buena Vista seems to have a slightly more touristy feel than it needs for the quality of its employees and the wine they make available. Although I didn't leave with any wine the day I visited, I definitely plan to return with my husband — so that he can experience the wine and the service. Walking through an historical exhibit was a bit unnecessary for my tastes, and I didn't like needing to walk so far for the tasting room anyway. The presence of nicknacks distracts from the fact that there is outstanding wine available. The period costumes of the employees was a little over the top with kitsch, but fit the ambiance. This is a winery that doesn't need gimmicks to stay open — the wine and people are completely worth it. The tasting was $15 for 5 pours, though we went off the menu a number of times. Our server was very honest about the quality of their wine relative to other wineries' wines (both positive and negative). While the space felt like a museum, the music had an excellent dance beat to it.

Joanna Leath

The grounds are beautiful and historic. We loved the wines and walking into the winery's caves - so neat! The museum portion/winery tool light show was a bit odd, but fun nonetheless. We were glad we went

Lisa Kiplinger Kennedy

Fantastic wine tasting experience and amazing history!

Arthur Massei

One of the winery stops when in Sonoma.

J. Wells

First premium winery in California! They have a great patio. Love the Tempranillo.

Gene Kostruba

There are hundreds of wineries in the Napa Valley, I was told that Buena Vista is the oldest one. It's very beautiful, has tables on the patio for tasting, and set of park benches for picnicking. All very nice.

Hammer 8

Do the Legacy tasting. Worth every penny. Beautiful historic site.

Anish Morakhia

Such a relaxing old world charm this place has!

Veronica Munoz

Sara Bickford

Re: Mary Ann Sharits review. They have no olive oil or vinegar. She must be thinking of another winery. All the wines I have tasted at Buena Vista are beautifully balanced with fantastic structure. They get some of the best fruit around. I've done a lot of wine tasting in my day and I would say that their wines always exceed my expectations. And the history and the grounds are stunning to take in.

Jason Fontanoz

Always a pleasure to stop in and see good people and wine!

James Miller

Great tour (first of Sonoma's winery's), great staff, and great wine.

Olga Brook

Great service, great wine, beautiful place

Brian Spadea

Wow Amazing!!!

Nafisa Khan

Beautiful place and wonderful service

Claudia Sims

Beautiful historic setting ,friendly & helpful people and good.wine to boot. (Note - I am a local.)

Korey Ogden

The grounds were beautiful, though a bit over-the-top. I love the history behind the buildings and the namesake of their wines. $20 tasting, 4 small pours. Wines were great. Our server allowed us to sit and enjoy the picnic area and kept a watch on us and our progress with the tasting, which was special. We bought a bottle of the Pinot Noir which was delicious. Music playing throughout the grounds.

Mike Calilan

Amanda is the best. Because of her, her knowledge of the wines and her knowledge of the winery, my wife and I joined the club. Not to mention the great tasting wines...reserve zin is totally on point.

Michelle Stevens

The vineyard is very old fashioned and they are playing that up! There was a history lesson on the way in which was fun, but didn't necessarily have anything to do with the winery. There was also a hedge maze which was cute. The tasting room is a lovely old masonry building (seismically retrofitted!) and our tasting attendant was very knowledgeable about the wines, but very soft spoken so it was hard to hear everything he was saying. The whole atmosphere of the area is a little cheesy, but it is beautiful nonetheless, and I really enjoyed the wines that I tried.

Mark McQueen

Kind of felt like the Disneyland of wine country; large, clean, well manicured with costumed staff. None of which is a bad thing, and the wine was good. Despite the crowds on the Friday afternoon we were there, the wine tasting room staff was attentive and helpful and even went so far as to tailor a flight for tasting that was in line with our likes (i.e. one of liked reds, one liked whites and one liked desert wines). This paid off for BV, as we bought a few bottles. Being a history buff it was notable the winery was founded in 1857 and claims to be the oldest commercial winery in California.

Carrie Schulte

Very unique part of California's wine history - wines are great too

Ben Tolman

The wines are delicious. The winery like a museum, full of history and information. A little of the beaten path, but well worth the visit.
