Called in order to Derk and order filled correctly. Clean store / restaurant. Everyone was extremely nice & helpful. They food (meat & 3) was delicious! Great to find a place in Montgomery that you can still get plates like these after lunchtime. Open till around 6pm. Portions are big including the meat you choose. Prices are little bit up but worth it. Picked up other items such a potato salad tub, chilli, banana pudding... which is so yummy ! Even ordered a ribeye sandwich. They have about everything you'd want or need in this place.

Derk's has everything a local deli needs. Awesome wine and beer selection. Steaks, pies, and sauces are sold here. They have a lunch meat and 3 that is very southern and delicious. They really shine with their catering. They have lots of different finger foods and entrees. You also can order main dishes. This is truly a 5 star place.

This wine shop is a true gem in Montgomery. Both the selection is excellent and the employees are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and will find an excellent bottle at your price point! As a big plus, the prices are also very reasonable. I have not eaten there yet, so this review only pertains to the wine shop.

The food here is just not as good as some claim. I think it's generic and overpriced. It's a nice store and I'll go on occasion, but I wish they would put a little more care into their recipes (like the mac n cheese) to make them more appetizing.

Spent $17.00 on a lunch; which included a hot bottled Coke from their 'cooler'. When I asked for a cup of ice (& explained why), I was informed it would be .25 cents for a cup. I have been a once-a-week customer for 3 years. I won't be going back.

Hi Derk, I hope you see and read this post. I was in your establishment today at 5pm. I was the only person in line at the hot bar and I waited 5 minutes before I was acknowledged and served which was only after I asked a young lady may I please get some service? She pointed at a young AA guy who had braids past his shoulders and wasn't wearing a hairnet. He was off to the side drinking something but he watched me approach the hot bar and still walked away and started talking to three females that were at the register facing the front door talking to a customer. I came a long way to get a pork chop dinner for my Wife who incidentally met you at her place of employment about a month ago. She spoke very nice concerning you. Anyway, I felt totally disrespected and disregarded and started to just leave. I also felt like some of your employees are racist because of how they looked at me but yet no one came and asked if they could help me. We frequent your establishment a lot but today left a bad taste in my mouth. The food is good and sometimes just ok but it's not worth being treated as if my patronizing your place doesn't matter.

My husband and I came in Saturday to purchase wine. While there my husband asked about the cost of a particular wine. Derk was there and needless to say his attitude towards us was unprofessional to say the least. The last I checked, my money spends the same as everyone else’s. We will not be back, and besides we can get our wine at the fraction of the cost elsewhere!!

Too crowded to eat. Checked out the grocery section and many of their items were still in Kirkland Signature (aka Costco brand) packaging. Menu didn't look to be all that. Great beer selection but not worth all the hype.

Great food, fast service! Reasonably priced lunch counter inside a convenience store. Highly recommended their entrees on the line. We did have a delay when ordering a sandwich though. The entrees all come with two sides and cornbread. The sides are especially good, so make sure you try as many as you can!

I live in the area and have family visiting in town. Since they do not have a car I told them about this cool little restaurant/ store they could walk to from my home near Old Cloverdale Park. Upon walking the short distance my brother entered the store and what happened next was appalling. I recognize that there is prejudice in this world, but didn't recognize it was so nearby. My mother, who walked over with the doggie stood outside as my brother entered the Filet and Vine, only to be asked "do you have money to shop in here?" Those appalling words were the words that came out of the employee's mouth. The first words spoken to my brother as he entered the store. My brother is slightly mentally disabled and did not necessarily understand the intent of your harsh words, but I sure do. He was stereotyped, ridiculed, humiliated and discriminated against. I am saddened and disgusted about the behavior of this worker. How in the world do you think you have the right to treat people in such a way and to disrespect another human being the way you did my brother? I don't know which employee you are but you know who you are. I curse you and pray for you all at the same time. Your actions were inhumane, despicable, unacceptable and illegal. It is unfortunate that people like you still exist and display such idiocy.

Great looking hot bar even though we were too early for dinner and too late for lunch. Unbeatable beer and wine selection. Food was delicious and reasonably priced.

Horrible Customer Service and the owner is racist!!!!! This is a racist establishment. I will never eat here again. I wasn’t pleased with what I ordered, so I asked for my order to be remade. They tried to charge me extra to remake an order that I had already paid for. I asked for a refund; they wouldn’t give me one. When I questioned why I couldn’t get my money back they answered negatively, and said that I was just trying to get something for nothing. And of course , because I’m Black they then threatened to call the police if I didn’t leave ( without giving me my money back). By the time I walked to my car the police was pulling up. I stopped and explained to him what happened. He then went inside to try to get the situation resolved ( no resolution was reached). The police even advised me to call the Better Business Burea. The owner Derk called the police on me for being black and wanting a refund! He is a disgusting distasteful human being. I will never eat at this place again!

his place is amazing. This is a must stop place. Stopped in for lunch and not disappointed. It is a grocery/ restaurant. If going for lunch get there early. You stand in line and pick your food out. I got the meatloaf and received a huge portion. It's southern home cooking so comfort food. Lots of choices. You cant go wrong here. The seating is tight but cozy. You are likely to see everyday folks to state officials. Great service and friendly staff. Also massive selection of beer and wine. Don't miss this place, just be prepared to loosen your belt. Will not leave hungry.

The hot bar is awesome -- fried pork chop and some veggies, yes please and thank you very much -- or you can order a burger, fries and an iced tea with that small, good ice (then a milkshake). Staff is great. This place is a staple of the gump.

Filet & Vine is one of my group's favorite eating spots. We continually visit this location because they have it all together for running a first class business. Their beer display is truly loaded with international choices. The food is a la carte, and is kosher. For a very healthy meal, you must check this location out. The customers are mostly professional and upbeat; the service is superb; and the food is fairly priced.

This is a very popular locally owned place for lunch for workers from the Downtown area. Parking is tight in this area so get there around 11:30 if you want to get a spot near the building. The restaurant offers a meat and three selection from a cafeteria-like service line as well as hot and cold sandwiches. There are usually about 4 or 5 meat selections to choose from and at least a dozen sides, all large, homemade and very, very good. The line moves quickly and the service is friendly. The sandwiches are very good also, and they have a wide assortment of baked goods from a nearby bakery. The restaurant has a lot of space and a great atmosphere. The tables are arranged among crates of wine. It's a wonderful place for lunch.

I’d read some good reviews about Filet & Vine so I decided to try this place out with my husband. I was incredibly disappointed with my meal. The chicken strips were the dryest and most flavorless I’ve ever had, the green beans were straight out of a can and super salty, and somehow the rice had both under and over cooked grains and overall no flavor. On top of that, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We won’t be returning to Filet & Vine.

I was served a piece of fried fish that was pink and not fully cooked. When I showed it to the manager he disagreed and insisted it was cooked. I asked for a refund and was told NO. Then Derk (owner) came out and insulted me by saying I should be enjoying my perfect fish instead of complaining. I left forever. I now will take any and every opportunity to describe my experience. In all they have good food, however don't dare complain if you are dissatisfied. Just move on and enjoy you food no matter what. (Sarcasm if you cant tell)

I know a lotttttt of people come here...i have been coming here for years, much for convenience....but have stopped coming several times bc of food quality. Today was 1st time in a while....the greens were sour and so were the lima beans. The poppy seed casserole was very dry and over-seasoned. To enhance my great experience-the staff was so unfriendly. With over 40 yrs of eating in "meat & 3" establishments from Miami to Memphis, Derk's place may not be #1, but it's in the top 3! Nikki's on 2nd Ave in Bham is close behind, but it's not quite Derk's. Staff is top notch, friendly, and they all go out of their way to make sure you're completely satisfied. Derk knows what he's doing & this is evident after stepping inside the place 5 seconds. Yea, it might cost a few bucks more, but you get what you pay for here, you're not eating meat from the sickest cow in the stockyard! Derk only carries top quality fish, chops, chicken etc......vegetables are like grandma just picked them and are cooked to perfection! Trust me, give no credence to negative reviews here, come see for yourself....when you're done, try to get to your feet, and before you head out the door go shop for adult beverages of every kind and select wine from one of the best selections in the state, period!

This place is a gem among way too many "meat & threes" in the city. Their food is always wonderful and served with a smile (and a bit of sarcasm). My wife and I make this a must visit when we have guests in town. On top of their wonderful food (chicken, pork, potatoes, etc.) their wine and beer selection is unmatched in the city of Montgomery. As a beer connoisseur (self given title) it's great to see a place with beers i've never seen. We will continue to go here so long as it's open.

Filet and Vine is perhaps the preeminent meat and three in Montgomery. The pulled pork I got was better than I was expecting, though I was more wowed by the broccoli casserole, squash casserole, and greens. What REALLY sets Filet and Vine apart, though, is the alcohol. They were doing it even before Alabama's backwards laws were repealed, but today they are far and away the best place in Montgomery when it comes to beer selection. It comes at a price, however, and that price is pretty high - most bombers are close to surpassing the $10 mark, and after coming from Hop City in B'ham, there's a little bit of sticker shock. Hell, even a loose can of Good People Snake Handler was $4. But where else are you going to go?

Chicken marsala was succulent & generously portioned - huge tender chicken breast with lots of mushrooms. Garlic butter mashed potatoes so good you'll slap yo mama! Turnip greens were tasty with a hint of sweetness. Grilled veggies are a standout - at least 10 different types of veg! Jalapeno cornbread & a mil discount! Also, the sweet potato souffle is divine: spiced just right with butter & pecans...

First time in the store. We had a good lunch from their food bar which had a nice variety of Southern food to choose from. While there we wandered around their boutique style grocery store and was quite impressed. Their fresh meat selection is excellent and I'm sure they'll cut anything to your choice. Definitely going to be a place I will frequent more.
