First, there was a bit of a bait and switch between the trial period and the product for which we were actually billed. At first, they were extremely helpful and personable. We went through the trial period and were going to move forward with the base service; however, when we were actually billed, we were up-charged for added features that we had not initially planned to receive. The on-boarding was a long process and not something we could dedicate a ton of time to immediately. A couple of months passed, we realized we had never found the time to get our site live and yet we were consistently being billed (more than planned) and we decided we'd rather spend our money elsewhere. We emailed CPA Site Solutions to cancel on September 5th and, strangely, they would not agree to cancel our service until they spoke with the owner of the company directly. The fact that an authorized user on the account (the IT manager) contacted them to cancel the service was insufficient. The owner ignored their phone calls because she didn't believe she had any additional business with them. When they finally got through to her they informed her that they could not cancel the service until she had signed a specific form. The form was not emailed to the owner (and IT manager) until September 22. Why couldn't they have simply emailed the required form when they received the cancellation email on September 5th? Why did they need to engage in an actual telephone conversation with the owner before they could email a form? Stranger still, they never required the owner's signature to charge the card, nor did they need to speak with the owner to add services that were not previously specified. When the form was finally emailed, it listed additional limitations regarding when they would and would not accept cancellation requests. If you want to cancel the service on a Friday and the following Monday is the last day of the month, well, you're out of luck. They won't accept cancellations over the weekend, on holidays, and if they don't receive the form at least 5-7 days prior to the end of the month, they will still bill you on the 1st, regardless. I don't see how you can agree to charge a card without a signature, an amount greater than initially agreed upon, and without written consent (as they only spoke with the IT manager) but, you can continue to charge the card until you 1) speak with the owner personally and 2) get the owner's signature on paper dated in a very particular manner. I am an accountant by trade and, specifically, my expertise lies in Accounts Receivable and Billing. I can tell you with great authority that the manner of billing in which this company engages is considered unethical and predatory. Caveat Emptor.

Since they were sold, new owners have increased Price by 138%, and previously included services are now add ons and cost extra, true price increase is closer to 300% in a few years. Poor response for service to get changes made. Conclusion corporate greed has taken over, perceived attitude is see how much they can increase prices and cut services before their clients react and before the bottom line starts to drop.

This used to be a great company and I would praise them any chance I could but for at least a couple years it has been awful. I have notified them to cancel my account months ago but they continue to grab money out of my account every month. I was paying for a premium package and was working on a new website with them more by myself. That site I was working on disappeared and my site that was up and running and change back to basically the default. I spent hours trying to tweak it. I would check it sometimes and the color schemes were not the same on every page. The company used to care about it's small clients. Now they just contact you to sell you more stuff that used to be free. Also a couple of years ago a tax preparer in my area was given the same website template I had. This preparer was in the same town as me. I am usually very nice but when you just keep taking money from me I get upset. I am a sole proprietor I can't afford to be robbed. So if you don't mind being jacked and having the same boring website as half the accountants in your area CPA Site Solutions is for you.

Once you do get a hold of customer service, there is a 50/50 chance they will either help you, or not care at all about you. We've been using CPAsitesolutions for years, and slowly the product has gotten better. But recently they have been hit by spam-bots (using the "Contact Us" webform), and their only advice is to remove that webform. Which removes the ability for potential clients to contact you through your website. Which is one of the primary purposes of a website. Once you sign up, you're hooked. They don't have to care if you're happy.

Their sales department needs to lay off. I got onto a list of theirs recently and I've received multiple calls from Erica. At one point she hung up on my bookkeeping manager who has taken several messages from her. Spoke with her today 40 minutes after she spoke with my team member. She was antagonistic for the entire call and she denied speaking with him, insisting that she had only left voicemails for me (which would bypass my manager completely and come directly to me). Rather than talking about it, she insisted that it was my problem and that she would have no reason to lie, and was sorry that I "was having a bad day". Perhaps someone else left the message under her name and logged it as a voicemail, but how easy would it have been to say, "it looks like our records might be in error" and talk through the issue? There's no excuse for poor customer service like this, but worse is the lack of accountability. Would not work with a company like this regardless of their services if you know they're going to duck for cover immediately when there's an issue.

I requested a free demo site and after receiving the demo site during the trail period I informed the company that I was not interested in their service and that I was using another service. Four months later I saw charges totaling $290 on my account. I immediately contacted the company and requested to speak with a supervisor for a refund. I was tranferred several times and never spoke with anyone. I'm not sure how these charges were authorized but I never interacted with this company after canceling the trial.

UPDATE: I'm not sure what happened but CPA Site Solutions went downhill really quickly recently. I've had server issues with my site being down and today I'm not able to log into the site manager at all. I had custom work done that was shoddy and filled with errors and incorrect links. They published unapproved work to my site also. It's just been a string of really crappy experiences after another. I'm not sure if they sold the business or outsourced it but I'm thinking of actually paying someone to build me a new site just to get away from the endless problems I keep having with them...... My old review was...... CPA Site Solutions is always very responsive with change requests and they are a pleasure to work with. The site templates are beautiful too. I'm not sure what the other reviews are all about. That hasn't been my experience at all.
