Honestly we feel they let us down today. We called this morning for our Rottie Stella who has no hips (Dual FHO) she was in pain all night and whimpered. We spoke to Carl who said he would call us back to get her taken care of. By 3 we heard nothing so we called them and they seemed to be 100% unaware we even called! So now we are told " Sorry, booked today and tommorow" Really!! Would you have been booked earlier when we called?? So now the choice to us was "Drop her off tommorow and we'll get to her when we can" she's not a car for God's sake! Last time they saw our dogs we gladly spent around 1600 no problem. Didn't complain nothing. We were told to go somewhere else! How bout this people, stay late if you love your job and charge me for it! Ill gladly pay. Too bad, they seemed nice.

My visit was horrible in 2015... Over $200 for a few shots??? And they gassed my poor cat instead of letting me hold her while they poked her with the needle.... Not to mention they brought her back from the gas chamber (or as the "nurse" called it "The HappyBox") unconscious with her tounge hanging out. Then charged me for them gassing her. Outrageous... I will not recommend this place at all.... Way over priced and treat your animal like crap. Smells very bad in here also.

Every employee is caring and patient with my dog and I. My husky mix is very fearful at times and they made her feel right at home at the clinic from the very 1st time we went there. The doctor and the tech sat on the floor with her and just let her sniff them and gave her a little freeze dried chicken treats which certainly helped! We've been to numerous vets before we were referred here. Unfortunately owning a pet is expensive but this animal hospital does their best to have deals on shots and dental cleanings and they also have a lot of good content on their App. They help out the community and always have something fun going on where you can bring your pet. I know my dog loves going here because he gets attention from all the sweet ladies! They are polite, courteous, and knowledgeable. They are upbeat and always sweet to my dog which makes me feel good and that he will be taken care of properly. Other places we have been to are very unpersonable and it is just another job for them. Here it is the total opposite. I will continue to come here and refer them to my friends!

My girlfriend had to go out of town and our dog got sick while she wasy away. She's the one that deals with everything so I was completely lost but she had their magnet on the fridge so I gave them a call and they helped to make everything so pain free. I seriously didn't know it was that easy to take your dog to the vet. They were very nice too and my dog was better the next day. Definitely recommend.

First time bringing our pet here. We had a free complimentary first exam coupon from a mailer. We moved to the area within the past 6 months and adopted a great dane/pit mix puppy around Easter. We also have 2 femaile pitbulls that are sisters. We will be bringing them in when it is time for their vaccinations. Everyone was super friendly and made us feel welcomed. The vet was thorough and took extra time speaking with us. The exam room was very clean and the cost was affordable for her shots and oral flea/tick treatment. We will be scheduling her to be spayed next month and will update this review afterwards.

All I can say is WOW!!! We recently began going to Animal Hospital of Lake Villa. We have a 7 year old schnauzer and a 5 month old poodle mix, which have recently both had unrelated procedures at the clinic. I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of care, passion and love that the doctors as well as ALL the staff members have for their patients. My dogs are our kids and in both surgical procedures I was nervous but felt so much better when I started receiving texts and pictures throughout the day giving me status verbal and visual updates. This put me at ease and I knew they were in GREAT Hands. I will never go anywhere else. I am so happy I found them! Do not hesitate to bring your pet here.

We found Lake Villa Animal Hospital to be a breath of fresh air. Our pets were treated with kindness and respect. Watching our dogs get vaccinations while under the influence of smoked chicken was a sight to behold. We don’t think they cared as long as the chicken was coming. They even shared some with us humans. We also like the PetDesk app that they had told us about. It’s a great way to track our dogs health records and appointments. Thank you Dr. Unger, Dr. McGinnis, and last but not least by any means, Matt. The whole staff is very nice to deal with.

Very good hospital. My pets are treated well. When they put my pets up and down, I did notice that, unlike other animal hospitals, they did this in a very gentle way and make sure my corgis long back are protected. This is very professional. And they have really good chicken treats that my corgis just love them. The doctor is so good at calming them down during examination. I am glad I switched my pets hospital to Lake Villa.

The new patient experience just got better from there for my Cairn Terrier, Daphne. Dr. Unger was so gentle with my 11 year old fur baby and he explained her exam and findings to me in terms a human could understand. Daphne had surgery and she is doing well thanks to Dr. Unger and his team of caring assistants. So friendly, clean, and knowledgeable. We came from a horrible experience with the petsmart vets. Dr Unger was able to diagnose and prescribe meds that completely reversed my dogs skin irritations and she looks amazing. She was going through this for over a year with the other vets!! He thought it would take her months to recover but within the month of taking the medication you would have never known she had a problem. Over the last few months we have gone through the entire gambit of emotions with our pup. We noticed some limpy-ness and decided to take her in for her yearly visit a little early. Thank goodness we did. It was a normal office visit with incredibly friendly staff, we were taken in back, pup was given her shots and treats. We talked about some other goodies and opted for the blood test. Pretty normal over all, till that phone call, you know the one you never want…our pup had Lyme. Well I went through every emotion and the tech and doctor, heck their entire staff calmed me and answered every inane and insane question I had. We set a treatment course and she is pretty close to perfect with just has some stiffness which for a large 7 year old dog is pretty normal anyway. I’m not sure if I can really express how caring, informative and easy to work with the entire staff of AHLV is but I hope that it comes across here. It was an incredibly scary thing for us to experience and I honestly could not imagine what it would have been like to go through it without them. I was always informed, they continuously provided me comfort and course for what we were going to do or recommended. We were always aware of what to expect or what to keep an eye out for. I have not had that experience with human doctors, so to experience it with my pets doctors/staff and not have to beg for information. Irreplaceable. Thank you everyone at AHLV for helping US through an incredibly scary thing with grace and patience…and love for my pup.

This has to be the most pet and people friendly animal hospital in Illinois. The staff is super friendly and easy to talk with. I was greeted with smiles, friendly conversation and an offer of a cup of coffee. The staff and doctors cuddle and hug your pets and offer calm reassuring conversations with them . They have a separate entrance and waiting area for dog and separate entrance and waiting area for cats and other pets. They have the plug in pheromones scents for dogs and cats to help your pet stay calm. They offer smoked chicken breast to dogs as they examine them to make the trip to the vet as stress free as possible. We have been bringing our pets here for 18 years.

We have been going to the Animal Hospital of Lake Villa since they opened. They are always very friendly, accommodating and compassionate. We have two very skittish labs and the vets and assistance take all the time they need to calm them down and earn their trust (using tiny pieces of chicken) before even approaching them. Last week we needed to get one of the dogs in for a problem and they got us in within 2 hours. They took all the time our dog needed even though they were squeezing us in. We have never had a problem with a diagnosis or treatment. He highly recommend Dr McGinnis and staff.

I've had a few emergency scares ( my pup tried to eat ibproufin) & they were helpful and professional. The added bonus is that you deal with one Doctor. It's always the same vet seeing your pet. The staff are truly animal lovers, there is not a single person there that does not adore my little guy. The staff there are so friendly and nice and they actually show that they care for your pet. They even smoke their own chicken and give to the pets as we wait. Love this Fear Free atmosphere and their willingness to work with your dog at the dog's pace. Carl Shanor was especially helpful in making sure my young dog had her vaccinations done in the most effective way possible, and the whole staff treats you and your pet like family. The doctors are amazing. I would never take my pets anywhere else and I highly recommend them, especially if you have an animal that might need a little extra love and encouragement! Grace and Dr. McGuiness were able to handle my very nervous cat including drawing blood and getting a shot, in such a kind and caring manner that by the time we came home, my cat acted like we had never even left the house. This is a great Animal Hospital! Great doctors and Helpers! My lab died a couple years ago . I was home alone and they sent one of their workers to my house to help me with the dog. He couldn't get up and was in such pain. The girl that helped me picked him up and put him into her car, then took him to the animal hospital. No Doubt this hospital has some very caring people working with them. I give them a 5 star review!

Would rate them a zero if I could.. Misdiagnosed my cat. Lied and stated her thyroid values were out of range and she had hyperthyroidism. When I obtained her records found her values never out of range. Never going back and this is after several years of going here. They used to be great. Can diagnosis well animals but don't bring your sick animal to them.. The reception staff is immature and lies. Told me 2x they would send the medical records and never did. I had to get their emergency center involved. Was told her records were "over 200 pages" and crashed every computer that they tried to use to send me. In actuality, her records were 74 pages which was confirmed by another person at the center. Will report this clinic...my cat could have died. Went from 9.5 lbs to 5.8lbs. Took her elsewhere - first visit the vet listened to me, reviewed her records, examined her and tentatively diagnosed my cat. Put her on meds and in one week she gained nearly a pound is more active and alert, and no longer has diarrhea so my basement doesn't have to be covered in chuks. So grateful for RLAH...
