Let me first say the doctors at CLVH have taken care of many of our animals, and historically I would have given them a 5 star rating. But one terrible incident can undo a world of good, as it did in our case. We had to say goodbye to one of our beautiful dogs today, and we scheduled the appointment with Dr. Smith. We asked the doctor to ensure our girl was anesthetized first. She did give her a shot to relieve her anxiety, and when the time came, we believed our girl was getting the anesthesia as we'd requested. But it wasn't, it was euthanasia. I'm sure most people reading this know at least one person who has had a heart attack. Go ask them what it felt like when their heart stopped beating. Our beautiful girl spent the last two minutes of her life screaming and thrashing in agony. Dr. Smith finally was able to give her another dosage but blew her vein in the process, doubling the time it took to administer the drug. All because she didn't listen to us and do as we requested. Never euthanize an animal that's not under anesthesia. Shame on Dr. Smith and shame on CLVH for not making sure their vets know the appropriate way to euthanize an animal, be it dog, cat, or iguana.

My cats adore them and I really like most of their staff. Armentrout is pretty bad in my opinion so avoid her if you can. Otherwise they are amazing.
