We have two cats that rather than being spoiled, have trained us well. They are healthy and we account that to the excellent care they get from Soundview Veterinary Hospital. The reception area is well situated so that pets are kept apart from other pets as best as possible. The staff is wonderful. Dr. Hardegree was fantastic with our furbabies. I can't say enough good things about SVH. I've been coming here for a few years now and love the team they have. Brutus isn't the easiest little dude to work with, but the vets and technicians are all very kind and understanding and put up with his screams and attempted nipping. I live in Seattle, but make the trek down to Tacoma for vet visits because of the great team they have. My dog has been dealing with health issues for the past several years, and the team at SVH has been helping us get through it. They do a great job of explaining the situation, why they recommend certain treatments/procedures, and things we can do/look out for at home. At other vets we've been to, they often just slap you with a bill and say "you need to do this or that" without much explanation of why. A bit of traffic is well worth the comfort we get in bringing Brute to SVH. Through the years, we've met with Dr. Hale, Dr. Martin, and Dr. B, and they've all been great and super helpful. We also love that they are open a bit later than other vets, and have longer hours on the weekends as well. They have also recently remodeled and added a few new treatment rooms, which will be nice on busy days. It's definitely a welcome upgrade, and it's nice to bring our little dude to a place that is clean and well-kept.

They were amazing with us. My normal vet is closed on the weekends. Sunday morning my dog came to his wall. We knew it was his time. With limited choices Sunday’s, I had to keep my fingers crossed. The receptionist mentioned they were pretty booked but a Doc. Would see us. I didn’t even have to say my name when We walked in. She knew and she took us straight to the room. They were all compassionate, empathetic, and kind. We paid in the room so we wouldn’t have to be in the waiting room. The Doc. was comforting and informative. She explained all different roads and possibilities of things we could do to help him but very understanding when we expressed that we didn’t want him to live in pain anymore. She was kind and gentle with Buggz as we let him go. Thank you. I appreciated that visit.

We & our 2 dogs love Dr. Brossoit. She is very kind and caring and even our nervous guy loves her. We’ve had him neutered and al his shots and our older girl has received excellent care now that she’s over ten. They’ve been excellent about troubleshooting some health issues with her. Highly recommended. We’ve seen Dr. Martin too a couple times and he’s also excellent. They have doubled the size of their offices. The techs and front desk staff are very friendly & helpful

We've been taking our cat Psimon to SVH for quite some time now and our newest addition McCoy goes there as well. We couldn't be more pleased. Our primary doctor there is Dr. Brossoit and she is truly amazing. Dr. B. is wonderful with our cats and always takes the time to answer all our questions or concerns. Dr. B. gives a great combination of medical advice and treatment mixed with a good dose of common sense. I really can't give enough praise to her for her attention and caring of our "kids". Dr. Martin has seen our cats as well and he's just great with them. This is a busy practice and the support staff always seems to be juggling 50 different things at once, but are always professional and always stop to help if you have a question or request. As far as treatment plans....they break down everything and make sure it's understandable and they make sure I know how much my costs are before they proceed. I like that a lot! I would highly recommend Soundview Veterinary Hospital.

Kinda don't want to leave a positive review because I want them to be my best kept secret. They always make me feel secure in their knowledge of animals, the staff is always friendly even at the end of a long day and they are even open on Saturdays. They are really good at communicating complicated treatment and how that parses out to the final bill. Cant rave enough.

I've been taking my two dogs there for the past three years and have always been so happy with their care. Both of my dogs fear the vet in a serious way, and they handle them both with care and kindness. We called 3 or 4 in the area to get a quote on a new patient visit and Soundview was the least expensive at $55. We saw Dr. Hardegree and he is awesome! He was friendly, thorough, and really took an interest in Fiona. I feel fortunate to have found her such a good veterinarian. We'll be back for sure!

BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!!!! THEY WILL CUT OPEN YOUR DOG FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REASON AND THEN CHARGE YOU HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS MORE THAN THEY QUOTED! My moms 10.5 year old English bulldog wasn’t feeling well, we took him in and the vet said it was due to a foreign object. We wanted to wait it out, but we were made to feel like it was LIFE THREATENING if we didn’t move fast. We took the Tigger in at 745 am and he was supposed to be the first surgery of the day and I was told it would be 30-1 hour procedure. I call at 9:45 because I hadn’t heard anything. I talk to Ryan who tells me he has been in surgery for 25 mins already and they would call back. So another hour goes by, nothing. I call again. I speak to another employee and she tells me Tigger is out of surgery and can be picked up at noon. Ok great! So my mom calls to talk to the vet to find out what happened and what he found. We then are told Tigger hasn’t been operated on! WHAT???? How did 2 people tell us he had been operated on but hadn’t? It gets better! Hours later, still no call so we’re panicked thinking something terrible went wrong, so I show up at 230 pm to try and figure out what’s going on. At this point Tigger is supposedly out of surgery but they REFUSED TO LET ME SEE MY DOG and told me to come back at 5 pm. The vet finally calls by mom and tells her HE FOUND NO FOREIGN OBJECT!!! It was an inflamed pancreas! THIS IS VERY COMMON IN DOGS AND SURGERY IS THE LAST TREATMENT OPTION you want to do! They operated on an almost 11 year old English bulldog and charged us 1300 dollars!!!! They charged us for hours of anesthesia which we have no idea if it’s true because we never got a definitive answer on when he really went back. They then called my mom to tell her they are refunding her 380 dollars they had to write off. So my mom checks her account and they charged the full amount, and when she calls to clarify they said she owed an ADDITIONAL 380!!!!! I WISH I READ REVIEWS ON THIS PLACE BEFORE HAND! They took complete advantage of my mom and dog. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!

Love this place!!! We have 3 aging dogs so we spend a lot of time here. All of the doctors and assistants we have met have been great but Dr. Martin is amazing. He is like the "House" of vets. He has recognized health issues within minutes of meeting my dogs that have eluded other vets for years. They are not cheap but they are reasonably priced and I feel they have been fair with their pricing. They will give you a best and worst case scenario before doing a procedure but they don't get into that racketeering that a lot of vet clinics get into these days where they give you several different estimates and make you decide how much you love your dog based on what treatment plan you are willing to pay forc! Obviously they have a business to run but it feels like they really have the animals' wellbeing in mind. Definitely recommend.

Having just moved to University Place, WA the first thing I needed was a good vet! My niece and her husband recommended Soundview Veterinary Hospital and we had our first appointment this morning. Excellent! The staff is superb, both front office, vet techs and Dr. H. I don't know how many other vets are in this practice, but if they are all of this caliber I foresee this being my Veterinary hospital for the life of my pets.

I made an appointment to have my cat euthanized, only to come in and have the vet give a full exam and a guilt trip about how "we could do more", IN FRONT OF MY 5 & 7 year old kids that were ready to say goodbye. We ended up walking out with my 13 year old cat and today I'm cleaning cat pee and poop off my floor while my cat hobbles around my house. The front desk should have explained what to expect. The front desk has also failed to record and relay information about my dog's vaccines, and they have made scheduling errors- scheduling my dog to see the vet for his booster shots. This place is unprofessional, self-righteous and disorganized. Don't go there if you expect compassion or to be treated as an educated adult that is capable of making decisions for your own elderly pets.

Do not patronize this business. They just want to squeeze money out of you! After relocating to the north end two years ago I did take my two senior cats to this vet for nail trims. After the first year, I was told that they cannot see my cats if they have not had a rabies vaccine in the last year. I agreed to the vaccine. Now, 7 MINUTES before my Appointment I receive a call from the vets office stating that they cannot see my cats without a wellness check first. I told her I have been bringing my cats there for the past two years, they are both 18 years old and just need nail trims. It’s a ripoff....go elsewhere!

Brought my cat here last month and was pleasantly surprised, me and my cat both usually hate going to the vet, but everyone working there was super friendly. All of the other pets in the lobby seemed happy to be there which I take as a good sign. We were helped into a room quickly and the vet was in shortly, he was super nice and my cat loved him, and he was efficient at checking her and getting her tests run. Within a day of being there they called with a prescription and she was all better within the week.

I feel compelled to write about my experience today. I have been taking my 16 year old Yorkie to South Sound Vet for at least 6 years. I loved their bedside manner and never felt like they were trying to take advantage of my love for my dog. Today was the saddest day ever. My poor Yorkie had been yelping in pain the past 24 hours and it had gotten significantly worse as the night and morning progressed. I called right when they opened at 8a and explained he was in pain and might be having seizures. They got him in at 9:45a. As soon as they saw me come in with him wrapped in a blanket, they immediately put us in a private room. Then the amazing Dr Hardegree entered the room. He was instantly concerned and asking questions to help diagnose the issue. He was able to tell us that our little guy had spinal deterioration. He went over the surgical options but I had already prepared myself for the worst. My baby was 16 years old and surgery would just prolong the inevitable. Dr Hardegree was so kind and compassionate. He immediately reached out to me to comfort me as I began crying. He knew it was hard. I don’t know how doctors do it. They are blessings to us in this world because it truly does take a special kind of person to be able to do what they do especially in the worse case scenarios. Dr Hardegree and the rest of the wonderful staff were so caring and kind. I cannot thank you all enough for helping us through one of the most difficult situations we have ever been through. My little Jinx had a very peaceful and loving exit to this world and we have you all to thank. Thank you again and again.

Soundview honestly has the best staff of any vet clinic I have ever been to. They are kind, compassionate, incredibly knowledgeable, and entirely professional. They clearly love what they do and it shows in their work. We brought our cat Frank to them when he began having some trouble breathing. They worked with us for several days as we tried to figure out what was wrong with him. Were it not for their incessant pursuit of a proper diagnosis our little buddy most definitely would not have made it. The care was reasonably priced for the quality of care that they gave. I fully recommend this practice and hope other pet owners like us are able to discover them to be the trustworthy and professional Vets that they are! I take all my animals here and love it. We have seen 4 different vets and all of them really seem to care about our pets. They don't try to pressure you into tests/procedures you don't need, and are relatively affordable. The only down side I would say is they aren't very proactive with finding solutions to non life threatening issues. One of my dogs has lumps all over her body so I took her in to be checked. They said they look superficial and I shouldn't worry unless she starts acting differently. I had to specifically ask to have them biopsied. Lucky they were right and they are benign, but I'd rather have the piece of mind.

Her schedule for emergency abdominal surgery. Her compassion and willingness to help me, even as a new patient, saved my dogs life. She has been our vet since and I’m happy to say Soundview and Dr B have always gotten us in and she makes routine follow up calls checking on Abby. She has been instrumental in helping me manage her severe IBD. The support staff is amazing as well. So understanding and gentle.

I don't usually do online reviews for anything. However, finding a good vet has always been something i thought an impossible task. I have been so impressed since moving to Tacoma and bringing my Rottweiler Baylee to Soundview. Both of the doctors I have had during appointments have been exceptional. You can tell they aren't pushing for the most expensive treatment but the one that makes the most sense for your dog. They also don't seem to see your pet as "work" but genuinely seem thrilled to see them and care for them. Kudos to this place and highly recommended.

I've now brought two kitties to Soundview and I've always been very happy with our experience there. The staff is all super friendly and clearly care about all the animals and their people who come through the doors. Prices are reasonable and I've never felt like they were trying to up sell me. Dr. Hale in particular is wonderful, but all the veterinarians are phenomenal. Highly recommend this clinic to all pet owners in the Tacoma area.

When I asked around for veterinarian recommendations, two people suggested Soundview. We brought our two dogs (12 years old + 7 years old) for basic wellness checkups and my spouse and I are happy with how it went. Dr. Hardegree was great, very warm and happy to explain his thinking and recommendations. I appreciate that options for more advanced/expensive care were made available with cost estimates and, again, explanations for why such-and-such procedure might be a good idea soon or down the road—but without pressure to commit immediately if the procedure wasn't urgent. (I would like to get that echocardiogram for our 12-year-old, but can't afford it immediately.) Dr. Hardegree assured us that while there would be xyz benefits to the echocardiogram, because our dog is generally in good health he's comfortable with us keeping an eye on her symptoms and bringing her in if they worsen. (She has a heart murmur, which apparently means heart disease, so if she starts coughing more often, resisting exercise/getting lethargic, or just seems Not Quite Right for any reason we'll bring her back ASAP.) Overall the price wasn't bad, either. Two exams, blood and urine work for our 12-year-old, heartworm tests and preventative...all told it was around $400, which I found reasonable. I'll be happy to bring my dogs back to Soundview.

The folks at soundview are by far, THE MOST COMPASSIONATE, well trained individuals our family has met. Our pomerainian had dislocated her hip, in extreem pain, and needed major surgery...Dr. "B" is an awsome vet, with the skills it takes to get your animal back on track. Dr. Brossoit was very caring and explained my options with great detail. It is obvious she is a vet because loves animals. I was never pushed into unnessesary tests. We have two greyhounds and the greyhound world is cautious about vets because apparently greys can't handle anesthesia as well as other breeds. We've had our Sheldon under anesthesia a couple of times, including his dental cleaning. He came through with flying colors, and they were very reassuring about how to handle our breed of dogs. But the best part is their overall warm and caring nature every time we bring them in for routine stuff as well.

I have been going to Soundview Veterinarian hospital for the last 2 years since I moved here from out of state. "Looks" can be SOOO deceiving!! Our 8-year old mackerel tabby - Wisp - is a challenge!! She is very vocal, sometimes aggressive and definitely not a fan of her regularly scheduled vet visits. Regardless of her behavior, Soundview Veterinarians and staff are incredibly kind and gentle with our little *virago*! The CARE Wisp receives is exemplary, the Vets make certain our concerns are addressed and office staff are friendly and helpful. 5 stars!

They are open 7 days a week which is convenient and they are very quick to get back to you with test results and other news about your pet's health. They have a very clean office and friendly front desk staff. I would trust any pet to their care!!

I've been several times since moving to the area from Seattle. Dr. Hale is fantastic and takes a lot of time explaining what she is doing, what she is seeing, and what she ultimately recommends in terms of next steps. I've also brought my pets to Dr. Martin. He, too, is very caring and patient in his approach. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars versus 5 stars is that the waiting area communication could use improvement. If there's a customer at the front desk who is being served, you naturally sit down because you have an animal with you and you want to give the customer some space. However, the reception doesn't acknowledge your presence and if you're not proactive and perch right up front as soon as that customer leaves, they'll continue to serve whoever comes up to their counter and aren't aware of who is coming and going from the actual waiting area. I'll continue going there, as they treat my golden retriever like gold as well as my cat. They also believe an animal should never be in pain and approach pain management from different angles in order to meet the needs of each individual pet. It's top notch! The doctors are very knowledgeable and the front office are nice, too, but should work a bit on the service of the people coming in and leaving in order to ensure they are being fair with all (serving people in the order for which they arrive at the office versus whoever is more aggressive to reach the front desk).

Our pet was in for imaging and went without water or food the whole day when the company that performs the imaging services for them never showed up. The staff was very evasive about the screw up and rude, hanging up on us several times, claiming we got "disconnected". If your fur child needs an ultrasound or xray, find a vet that has the equipment on - site. Update: 10/7/2018 We were told to stop giving our pet water at midnight prior, and you did not learn of the screw up till late afternoon the next day -- when the ultrasound folks did not show up -- so there is no way water was provided. One more clarification ... It was the front desk staff that kept hanging up on us. The veterinarians we spoke with, however, were very polite.

We first came to Soundview Veterinary in August 2018 with our 9 year old beagle, Sofie. Sofie was a little hesitant when we would arrive but always so excited to see everyone once we went in. The Staff and Doctors gave her so much love and really made us feel welcome. You can tell when you walk into the office that they love animals and show so much compassion for the animals as well as their owners. Dr Austin Hardegree and the staff took great care of Sofie in her last few months and we are so grateful. We now have a new rescue beagle, Jenny, and she had her first visit this week. Again, the staff and Dr Hardigree welcomed Jenny and her tail wagging told the story. I would recommend Soundview Veterinary Hospital for your pets care.

Extremely dissatisfied with services today. I was given the amount to be paid for my cat's blood draw today. When I went to the front desk after the procedure the amount was $25.00 more. I questioned it and was told that they did a extra draw for her hyperthyroidism that was "recommended", not "required". So, an additional fee. I advised that I was not consulted about it and had not authorized it. I wanted the additional fee waived. They admitted it was their mistake, but would not run her bloodwork in the lab unless the full amount was paid. So, I paid it. Unwillingly. They must be hard up for money by charging for unnecessary procedures. Time for a new Veterinarian.

This has been a great hospital for our dogs. Dr. B is the best. Today they must have been overbooked. We waited quite a long time to see the Dr. and ended up spending 1 and 1/2 hours total see the Dr, have exam and shots. This is unusual . Usually we are in and out quickly .

I have been coming to soundview since the day the practice open . I am a rescuer so i have to find a vet willing to work with me on the quantity of animals that will do compassionate care . I have always been treated well and the care for my rescue animals exceptional. I refer all my adopters to this clinic also .over the years I have had such good feed back from my adopters they just love the place and of course the veterinarians . I myself am very grateful for Dr.Martin he has always taken care of my rescue animals and my personal animals. Today he did a surgery on my personal dog keno . I could not have afforded the surgery else where and he also helped with a ear tumor and teeth issues . I am always treated like family and my animals as if they where the vets personal pets . My mom went today with her dog and was very pleased . I recommend this place to many .

They were alright. Was upset that I had to call for four days in regards to my cat. I wonder if they would of called if it would of prevented my cats death. Also one of the techs was very snotty. On top of everything I learned with my cats condition giving him the steroid screwed him up and they never offered a blood transfusion that most likely could if saved his life. So now my baby boy who warned me of seizures is gone.

One of the vets is awesome. Another vet always tries to sell unnecessary treatments and products. The front desk is slow and doesn't have a lot of experience. They don't keep heartworm or pet insulin in stock. They don't care much about checking my diabetic pet's blood sugar. They don't always call back when you leave a message. Still they are better than the next closest vet. If they could up their customer service game, they would rate 5 stars.

First visit with my female yellow lab with a "hot spot" on her right front paw that she had been licking to the point where it was starting to bleed. These vets are absolutely wonderful. Dr. Hale and Dr. Hardegree have been excellent to our pups every time. After my 14 year old dog was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and then almost had his kidneys shut down from too aggressive diuretic treatment from another vet, Dr. Hale took great care of him and got him back on track. He was feeling a lot better within days under her care. She and Dr. Hardegree take great care to answer questions without making you feel rushed, really get to know your pet, and are very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend them.
