This review has been a long time coming. We used to board our dog at their affiliated facility, River Bend, and had our dog updated on shots and flea meds at the Newaukum Valley Vet on State St. to do so, back in May of this year. Our one and only vet visit at Newaukum was okay at best. We had an appointment, but ended up waiting about 15 mins in the lobby before we could go to our room, and then another 15-20 mins waiting for the tech. They also failed to tell us that they let a dog walk around off leash on their lunch break, and that our appointment was right when they opened back up from lunch. So, we had to wait outside because we arrived early, with our dog on leash, while this other dog that I guess belonged to someone at the facility roamed free. My 2nd experience was picking up flea meds. The gal with an accent at the front counter was not friendly, and basically just took payment and sent me on my way. She didn't ask if I had any questions, no "thank you", or "have a nice day". My 3rd and last encounter was last week over the phone, and today. I started boarding my dog at another facility, and needed to update our dog's flea med treatment before I could board him again. So, last week I called Newaukum and asked if they could send a flea med script to my current boarding facility, since they are about $20 cheaper than Newaukum for Bravecto, and Newaukum did not have the other med option, Trifexis, in stock. After hearing a bit of unprofessional yelling in the background, they asked me why. I told them my reasons, and they told me I'd be better off just working with the other facility. I then explained to Newaukum that I hadn't switched my care or anything, and that I'd have to make an appt with the other facility for a check up before they would prescribe me the flea meds. Newaukum still said no. So, because I needed flea meds sooner than later, I requested Newaukum to fill the script for flea meds I really didn't want, because they refused to send the script elsewhere. About a week later, I went into Newaukum to pick up the now filled and ready for pick up flea med. While I was there, I decided to asked them in person why they refused to send over the script of Bravecto to the other facility that I only board with? They had no straight answers, but asked me lots of odd questions like why should they send a script somewhere else, do I plan on bringing my dog back to them, when's the last time they saw my dog, and does my chosen boarding facility even board dogs? Then the staff at Newaukum started making accusations that I had entirely switched my dog's care because my boarding facility requested my dogs health file for boarding. To make sure my experience was totally irritating, they then took about 15 mins to "look at my dogs file" in the back. The staff at Newaukum basically treated me like I was a being a traitor for wanting to pick up flea meds elsewhere. I think they could have just argued in circles with me all day if I let them. Towards the end of all this, one of the ladies at Newaukum said she never denied my original script request. I corrected her, and decided I had had enough because it was obvious I wasn't going to get anywhere with anyone here. I ended up just purchasing the filled script of flea meds at Newaukum even though I had clearly expressed multiple times I didn't actually want but I had to get because of their cost on my preferred one, lack of other available options, and my availability. It was a horrible, unprofessional experience that I hope others will never have, because they are smart and go elsewhere.
