I recently moved to Seattle, and away from a fantastic veterinarian I'd been seeing for several years. I was a bit nervous about finding a new vet but my fears were put to rest! The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful as soon as I walked in. The facility was clean and everyone was kind to my nervous pup. My vet was Dr.Waterhouse and I'll definitely be going back to him. I had a list of questions/concerns and he took the time to address every issue. I never felt rushed or felt like I was wasting his time with my questions. He was informative and at the end of our meeting he said "let's follow up in a few days" which I always appreciate. I also had my dogs nails trimmed and ears cleaned while he was there and they did a good job. Lastly, I never felt like vaccines, medicine, or product was being "pushed" on me. All charges seemed fair.

Dr. Waterhouse has been our vet for close to 10 years now. He is kind and compassionate with our dogs, and patient with us. We never feel hurried or rushed by any of the staff at LUVC. Dr. Waterhouse is particularly great with older animals. He is a great listener and he is thoughtful about the course of treatment he recommends. If that treatment is no longer effective after a period of time, he always has another plan in mind. We honestly believe he gave us an additional 3 years with our Bailey-dog. If you're looking for someone to talk baby-talk to your pet, this is probably not the place for you. If you're looking for someone to provide the best possible health care for your pet, go to LUVC. I've been going to Lake Union Vet Clinic since I got my dog Dublin over 5 years ago. They've always been extremely helpful in regular check-ups and visits for more immediate concerns. The last time I visited I was very worried about my dog itching all over like crazy. The vet prescribed a medication (after giving me my options and patiently answering my questions) and within a few days Dublin had stopped itching and was back to her old self. So I can't recommend this place highly enough.

This is the best vet clinic I've been to. The staff is incredibly friendly and polite. The place is ridiculously clean. Normally vet clinics have that weird wet dog odor. This one smells great. The doctors are very competent and very through. They communicate very clearly. We normally see Dr. Carson, and she's always been terrific at giving advice and explaining what's going on with our dog. This place feels more like a pediatricians office than your normal animal clinic. If they had a people branch, I'd go there too.

They are also very clear when explaining what's going on with my pup, it's super easy to reach them and get an appointment, and they have always called me back very fast whenever I call or there are some lab results they need to discuss with me. I’ve had Lake Union Veterinary Clinic as my primary vet for my now 10 year old dog for the past 7 years or so. They have been outstanding every step of the way. Dr. Carson is a phenomenal veterinarian and takes that extra step when it comes to ensuring the best quality of life for pets. For the more practical matters, the pricing here is fair and very competitive with other vets in the city and I’ve never had trouble getting a same day appointment when needed (the vets are very well connected and organized so in a pinch I have no concerns seeing anyone available in the office). They’re also very transparent about their diagnosis and treatment plans and willing to give referrals for special cases (I’ve gotten a referral for oncology in dealing with a few cancers that my dog has been through) and will go out of their way to help with anything the specialist may need.

I've been taking my two older chocolate labs to LUVC now for about 3.5-4 years. I started as a customer when I moved to downtown Seattle, but even when I moved to West Seattle, I continued to take my pets there. I have always found the staff to be highly professional and they really do care about the health of the pets they provide care to. As my dogs age, like old people, they tend to develop their own unique health issues, some of which can be difficult to diagnose. The staff at LUVC has stuck with it and really spends the time to try and figure out what is going on with your pets and will take the time to come up with the best solutions.

Average service at a premium price. Welcome to the new South Lake Union. Waiting room seating is limited. New garage access (in an adjacent building) doesn't mirror clinic hours. They removed two canine teeth as part of the cleaning. When they gave me the teeth back I didn't notice any decay. When I inquired why the removed them they said it was to prevent decay from adjacent teeth, which I understand but if I went to my dentist they wouldn't just pull teeth under the same circumstance without disclosing.

It is very comforting to be surrounded by a team that is obviously happy to be at work with so many animals.They provided great customer service and made me feel right at home with my new kitten. They provided plenty of information that was useful to me as a new owner of my little girl and were very helpful after hours when I had a health scare. They kept me at ease and were quick to get back to me at home, even though it was very late at night. Dr. Waterhouse is simply the best. I am the type of person who tends to (over)analyze nearly everything. In the case of finding the perfect companion for us, I spent over a year of research and phone calls to find the best breed and the best breeder for us. For reference, we have a giant breed dog. Inline with this, I wanted to ensure we had the best veterinarian. I researched over 20 different vets, narrowed it down to a shortlist of 5, and called these ones to determine who would be the best fit for us. I'm confident that we made the right decision. From the very first visit the day after we picked up our pup, our expectations were exceeded with Dr. Waterhouse. He took the time to answer our questions beyond what we could have expected and showed compassion coupled with deep knowledge. Since then, we have gone in for routine vaccines and three non-routine visits (one for what turned out to be growing pains, and another for a borderline ear infection). In addition to this, I have emailed Dr. Waterhouse with questions and always received prompt and educated responses. Never have I felt Dr. Waterhouse tried to 'upsell' us on something we don't need. For example, on the growing pains (6 month old puppy and 75 lb at the time), Dr. Waterhouse gave us some recommendations and said we likely would not need any specific treatment at this time, and the pup got through it quickly. With the borderline ear infection, Dr. Waterhouse explained a safe procedure where he can put the dog under and remove hair from the ear since it was keeping water in, but again, he said we should first try a far less invasive and cheaper ear drop remedy to see if that cures the issues, which it did. Another time we asked the vet techs to clip our pups nails. Dr. Waterhouse didn't charge us because he said they didn't need much clipping. There have been several times I have walked out spending whatever the minimal clinic visit fee when I could have easily been charged more. And on the note of pricing, from all the research and calls that I did, Dr. Waterhouse is very fair. On top of this, if you have pet insurance, his staff will work directly with your provider in filing claims. Dr. Waterhouse also stays up-to-date on new medical studies, research, and local trends. For example, you can have a good conversation with him on the recent studies on correlation of hip dysplasia with early neutering, the new heartworm and flea medications, or parvo outbreak. It's great to have a vet that we can trust completely to do the right thing for our dog and give our dog the same treatment he gives his own. On an additional note, we did see Dr. Carson once for a non-routine visit because Dr. Waterhouse was out that day. Our pup had a very upset stomach. Dr. Carson was great and I would not hesitate to go to her again. Hope this helps others who are in the same boat I was in a year ago in selecting a great vet.

Lake Union Vet Clinic has been a great spot for my dog over the last several years. The clinic staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. It's easy to contact them for various services or to have records faxed over to day care or boarding locations. My dog underwent a fairly big surgery and the clinic and they called me regularly to update me on his progress and called the following few days to check in on him. I've continued to go to their clinic even though I moved across the city -- I can't recommend them enough!

Before my appointment was even scheduled the admin had already ordered Rosie's file from her previous vet - I was VERY impressed. Everyone was so helpful and knowledgeable. Rosie turns 11 years old this and I am happy to be back in the Seattle area to have such a wonderful vet to help care for her in her old age. Everything about LUVC was great - I didn't wait at all, and I even called when I got there because I know my dog has leash reactivity issues when in small spaces with other dogs. They ushered us into a private waiting room right away. I first went to see Dr. Carson about six months ago, after some very negative experiences at other clinics, and she seemed appreciative of the research that I had done myself and was quite knowledgeable about all aspects of cat care. I have been there twice since then and everyone has been friendly and no one has tried to "push" unnecessary care and the charges have always been reasonable. In my experience, among veterinary clinics this clinic is a rare find. They are friendly, honest, competent and reasonably priced.

Giving me all the info I needed to make this very difficult decision. They also recognized that our large dog is only a problem when I'm around (go figure). I'm a cat owner, and had my cat Hermione seen here for a scary and sudden symptom, and these people could not have been sweeter, kinder, or more helpful at every step of the way. The receptionists and veterinary techs were incredibly thoughtful (even helping me to carry my cat carrier down the stairs when I entered the office), and the techs really went out of their way to make sure Hermione was comfortable and as stress-free as possible. Dr. Carson meanwhile was knowledgeable, thoughtful, and extremely helpful both in testing and treatment options (it's looking like bladder stones), and in coming up with the best and most workable solutions for Hermione's condition. She took time to explain options and treatments to me, and even went out of her way to ensure that I had medications and new foods that would work best for Hermione (and the other two cats in the house). Everyone also worked with me on test and treatment budgets and options, and ultimately I felt that the fees were very fair. And of course, just as before, when I left with bags of new food and the carrier, one of the vet techs immediately insisted on helping me carry them out to the car. Lake Union Veterinary Clinic is just a really nice, warm place, and I'm very glad I've found it as a resource for my pets. HIGHLY recommended in every way.

The staff here are so wonderful and caring. My two cats haven't been doing well for a bit and they've been calling every so often to check up on how they're doing between visits (since the medication takes a bit to work). I feel like that isn't something most vets would do and it really shows how much they care. The whole staff has always been good with the cats in the exam room and also at explaining all of the options and the steps we plan to take to get the cats better. I will definitely continue to come here as long as possible.

Terrible experience and less-than-thoughtful care for our puppy. Notice that all other reviews are general and vague (we love this place, etc). This review is specific and relates our bad experience with this vet. We took our 11 week old puppy in for his first boosters and all went well. We told the vet that we were flying in a week with the puppy and he gave him an additional vaccine. All fine so far...except: 1) He didn't tell us we would need a certificate of good health to fly; 2)Then held us hostage for an additional appointment is less than a week to get said certificate (another $30 plus what the appointment would cost); 3)Prescribed questionable care to our puppy by insisting that we give a now just 12 week old puppy a rabies vaccine to get the certificate. This is better if not given until 6 months and puppies can fly if they are too young to have the rabies vaccine. Now we either give the vaccine to a 12 week old puppy or our vacation is in jeopardy because the vet did not consider this last week. Thanks a lot. If you want to spend extra time and money at the expense of your pet's health, then definitely go to LUVC. We are looking elsewhere.

Cannot stress enough how wonderful I think the folks at Lake Union Veterinary Clinic are. My big boy (18.8 lbs) cat Nikko-Nikko Peabody has sebaceous cysts and one was developing differently than the rest. Their care during and after the surgery was wonderful, from phone calls and emails. They particularly liked that I was taking photos and sending emailing them in so they could keep track. The staff is friendly, the doctors no-nonsense and the facility is clean and calm.

The doctors seem pretty good, and they're pretty flexible with appointments. They are good about making our dog comfortable, and will do the basics (take his weight) without an appointment. However, the techs don't seem so good - they never seem to understand the questions we ask and so it takes us a while to get the answer we're looking for, and it's hard to be confident in it.

This clinic is fantastic. I've seen every doctor here but most recently have been seeing Dr. Carson. She helped me through some times with my aging dog, and now my aging cat. She remembers me even though she sees so many people and pets a day. However, every doctor here has always listened to me, taken my concerns seriously, and helped alleviate my fears with our animals. Even the techs would come out to say hi to my pup despite not being the one that was seeing her that day. I really trust their guidance, and it's a relief to have a vet that truly seems to care about our pets, as well as us as clients. Highly recommend.

Great doctors! They're always super patient about answering all of my questions, even when they're super full and squeeze me in for more emergent problems. Front desk staff and assistant are awesome! They always offer me coffee, and when I've bought giant bags of prescription food and had to bring that plus my unwieldy puppy to my car, they've helped bring the food out. My 3 year old lab has been going to Lake Union Veterinary Clinic for the last 2 years. I honestly just picked the vet closest to me with the best reviews. All those positive reviews are definitely well-deserved across the board. The technicians, front-desk administrators, and of course Dr. Waterhouse, are all amazing and provide a caring/fun/consultative experience, making their patients & owners feel comfortable. Knowing Steel (my pup) is being taken care of is a weight lifted. Highly recommend, 5 stars!

Bruno, our beloved hound mix, whom we adopted from PAWS, has gotten his care at LUVC since we brought him home at nine weeks of age. Dr. Cary and the team he has built provide the best medical care you can get anywhere in Seattle. The staff is knowledgeable, courteous, professional, and above all, you can tell they want to be there and want to spend their days caring for our four-legged family members. Highly recommended from these two satisfied pup-parents, and four paws up from Bruno.

I followed Dr. Waterhouse from West Seattle to Lake Union because he is a doctor I trust implicitly. The support staff is efficient and more importantly kind and thorough. I recommended this practice to my neighbors and anyone who would listen. Its probably easy to provide service to pet people when their animal is healthy; not so much when they are fatally ill. I have experienced both and can not emphasize the kindness and patience while I was in a state of shock.
