We have gone to Heartwood for over 20 years now with two different dogs. They are very professional and caring. All the staff and Veterinarians have always been very sweet and genuine. Near the end before our first dog passed away from old age, the doctors took their time examining her and gave us a lot of advice and different options. I never felt rushed or uninformed. We have also had a few emergency accidents in the past to which they were always able to get her in the same day, usually within an hour or two. I have recommended Heartwood to friends who have had negative experiences with other Veterinarian facilities. Please keep doing you!

I've lived in the Portland area for several years, and have lived in Vancouver for just over a year. When I moved up here I was nervous taking my dog to a new vet, but I am so glad that I found Hearthwood Dog & Cat Clinic. I have met with each of the different doctors here, and they (as well as all of the support staff) really care about my dog. When we added a kitten to our family he got the same attention and quality care that our dog has received. They are also very reasonably priced, and I have never once felt pressured to spend money there. I've had my dog for 4 years, and we've lived in 4 states, and visited 5 vets since I got him. This one is BY FAR the best. I could not be happier.

I thought they were VCA and I had a coupon for a free office visit. They took my coupon and nothing else was said. A few days later I got my dogs prescription filled there, yet nobody said anything about the coupon being wrong. I paid for my dog meds and left. About 4 weeks later, I get a bill for the exam fee. They said they are not a VCA clinic and now I have to pay or go to collections. I am NOT happy. Also the vet was probably not even legal drinking age and she stated a few times that my dog needs a $200 xray because she "highly suspect osteosarcoma." I went to a much nicer vet and a $120 3 view xray showed only a bone spur. For over a month I thought my time with my dog was hearing the end. They're pissed about my review so they're now sending me to collections for $56. Thank god I am educated about these things and it will never go on my credit. Notice on other bad reviews there is a nice little note from someone at the clinic saying something like were sorry, we take complaints seriously....not on my review. I will trim you animals nails for free, $30 for 2 cats is highway robbery. Overpriced idiots!

Edited on Feb 5 2015: I just wanted to update this after being with them for a year. Our kitty is a senior cat and has developed two chronic diseases in the time we have had her, which means we have been frequent fliers at the vet! I still stand by my initial review, and would like to add how wonderfully my family and my pet have been treated by the staff, nurses and doctors here. I have a toddler who is very "sprited" who usually has to attend appointments with me and they are so incredibly patient and gracious with us. My kitty has received quality, compassionate care from them always. I would 100% recommend this clinic to anyone in search of a vet! Initial review: We just had our first appointment with out first pet with Hearthwood today. They are great! The receptionists up front were kind. I felt the doctor really spent time examining our kitty, and explained everything very clearly. The price for the exam was super-reasonable. I am really pleased to find such a great vet so close to my home! Edit - I also wanted to include the place was very clean! So important!!!

This clinic has been our dogs Dr.s office for over 30 years! Dr. Mimenis is by far the only vet I would have care for our English Bulldog "Bella" we drive from Lincoln City Oregon (2.5 hrs) to have our baby under the best care. She is thurough, no tests that aren't warranted, no hidden charges, her bedside manner with the animals and their privilege owners is compassionate and caring. She's nursed our pup out of some of the worst of the worst illnesses without unnecessary charges not surprises. We Love this Dr.s office. Belly is a healthy, happy 10 yrs old now thanks to Dr. Nimenis. (Life expectancy for Bullies is 8-10 yes) Bella acts like a pup!

Great vet. I have been with Hearthwood for multiple pets. Great staff and Dr. Have a sick little doggie right now and trying to decide if should go to a ER vet since its the weekend. With horrible experience with CRVS I've spent tonight researching for another 24hr place, reviews I'm seeing arent even half as good as what I experience at Hearthwood. So for now, unless she worsens I will wait for the best. Thankful for all my good experiences with the staff and Dr Kopmam.

Dr. Kopman was amazing with my wire foxy, Phoebe. My little Phoebe loves people but loathes other critters. The staff at Hearthwood were perfectly understanding about my little diva, and went out of their way to make her feel safe. She returned the favor by kissing everyone within reach. The receptionists have wickedly funny senses of humor, and were very helpful. Phoebe had gone in for a routine check and to get her shots, but while we were there, Dr. Kopman noticed she was over-grooming her backside. A treatment plan was made and decided upon, there were no nasty financial surprises, everything was itemized. After less than a week, her gnawed on tushie was completely healed. Their new office behind the old location is gorgeous. My sweet puppers was very well taken care of, and I have no intention of ever taking her anywhere else.

This was my first time taking my newly adopted fur child to Heartwood dog & cat clinic. I went here growing up with our family pets but this was my first time going alone. The vet staff were fantastic. They talked to my cat and gave him snuggles. My cat turned down the cheese whiz! Imagine that. :) very pleasant experience. The vet was kind, thorough and respectful. Clear on instructions. A safe place for both my pet and myself.

Clean place. The service is fast and the staff is helpful and friendly. I always make appointments, not sure if walk-ins are welcome. They send me email reminders for when my pet needs vaccines updated or any other things done. They always give me a print out of the costs of everything that they tell me about before going to the front counter, which I find very helpful because it gives me time to think about how these things affect my budget. Overall great experience.

We have searched for a long time to find a good vet and finally found the place! Dr. Kopman is very practical and does not try to sell you on expensive tests or scans if it's not needed. He is more interested in finding the shortest path to helping our dogs than going the long and pricey way around. Having worked at a veterinary hospital before, I completely trust Dr. Kopman's judgement. We have been through hell with other vet hospitals in Vancouver and are grateful we were recommended this place.

Wee can't say enough great things about Heartwood clinic !! Our family have been taking our pet babies to them for over 35 yrs . Our babies have always felt comfortable when going in for there're , they all loved the staff , the girls in front office always show love and are so informative , always have smile's for us & very compassionate to our needs & to our babies !!!! Our babies doctor"s are very compassionate and know exactly what is happening or not happening with them ( babies ) they will call is back when needed , we would never trust our babies with another doctor !! They always take the time to have our babies feel comfortable before doing anything to them. After moving to Vancouver, it no longer made sense for me to drive out to Beaverton to take my Husky mix to the vet; I needed to find a local option to get a checkup and have her vaccinations updated. I selected Hearthwood Dog & Cat Clinic after doing some online research (including Google and Yelp reviews) and because they are a reasonable driving distance. What I liked: The staff was very friendly, welcoming and seemed to show genuine interest in my dog. Within five minutes of checking in we were taken to an exam room. From the time that we arrived until the time that we left was no more than 25 minutes. They didn't keep us waiting nor did I feel that they rushed through. I feel like their prices were very affordable and I didn't feel pressured to pay for additional services. For example, it's been years since she had her teeth professionally cleaned. But the vet (Sandra) pointed out that she had some mild tartar buildup but that the overall condition of her teeth were great and didn't push for her to get a cleaning. One thing I didn't like: The location next to Mill Plain. My dog is very nervous by nature. I adopted her at around the age of 3 and had a hard time socializing her. She still doesn't get along with other animals and random things scare her: loud noises, ceiling fans, balloons, etc. When something scares her, she's been known to bolt and no amount of training over the years has been able to teach her to return to me when called if she's in one of her panicked states. She's also been known to be able to back out of harnesses and collars with enough struggling. Hearthwood's building is roughly 15 feet from Mill Plain Blvd. There's a lot of traffic. One of the activities that scares my dog is walking into buildings that smell like shelters, groomers, and vets. She walked on leash just fine right up to the front door... and then slammed on the brakes and started backing up. I had to carry my 70 lbs. dog inside because I was worried that if she struggled hard enough against the leash, she'd be able to pull out of her harness (she's done it many times). Just keep that in mind if your dog is anything like mine.

I took my cat there for a check up and everyone was very nice and efficient. The vet that saw my cat was exceptional - she explained everything so you could understand it and even called the next day to check on my cat. I will definitely go back there if I need to take my cat to the vet. It was easy to get an appointment and lab results were quick. I wish I could remember the name of the vet - she was a female.

I had my dog Nala go here after realizing how expensive the place I went before was.... that being said, I can't give these guys enough credit. I took my dog in for her initial visit and then scheduled a teeth cleaning along with a couple teeth pulled. They listened to my concerns and I could tell they truly cared. And on the day of the surgery, they even called me as soon as Nala was done to let me know things went smoothly. (And I was a total wreck) because it was the first time in 6 years my dog has had to stay at the vets.

I looked up the reviews and initially felt comfortable coming in, as there are a lot of great reviews. My mind has changed. I took my cat in. Was told the rabies shot was mandatory, and it was $27, I understood and agreed. This estimate was wrong, it was more. I’m sure they are sorry for the “wrong estimate”. I feel like everyone should be in the know of prices at the office. Long story short: they did a procedure he ended up not needing, furthermore the doctor had no idea what was wrong with my cat. I really didn’t appreciate how I was debriefed. It wasn’t by the doctor, but by the nurse while I was paying to leave in the front office. I had questions that couldn’t be answered by the nurse, so I then requested to talk to the doctor. She came out. I asked if there was anything she could at least suggest was wrong with my cat, there wasn’t. She offered me to purchase another kit or bring in samples later. She had never heard of the issue I was having. To summarize, my problems are: I was charged $115 for a procedure my cat didn’t need and to be told, “I don’t know what’s wrong with your cat.” I was misquoted. I didn’t appreciate being debriefed by someone who couldn’t answer questions in the lobby as I’m on my way out the door. I didn’t appreciate paying for a procedure my cat didn’t need. I didn’t appreciate being misquoted a dollar amount. I still don’t know what is wrong with my cat. At the very least, I could have been told: “If this problem persists, please bring him in and we will check him again since we couldn’t find the problem this time,” or “let us do some blood work and see if that’s normal.” But nope, nothing was offered or suggested and I had to ask more than a few times of any possibilities. I guess I have to go to another vet. I won’t be back.

We have been taking our beagle boys to this clinic for the last 20 years. Over the years there have been changes in staff, but all personnel have been cheerful and helpful. Dr. Kopman is a favorite with our boys. You can tell when an animal has confidence in his care provider. We love the fact that the clinic sends out reminders of upcoming appointments and of overdue shots. With multiple animals, it is difficult to remember who needs what. The prices are fair, and let's face it, good healthcare is not cheap. We highly recommend this clinic.
