Deep knowledge in medicine and treats each animal with respect: a tiny barnyard baby chick, a wildcat, a mutt or prized show animals. He has extraordinary focus when examining an animal and in discerning the course of treatment. I have taken my animals to him for many years, and his caring is unwavering and consistent.

Dr. Yearout really cares for your pets. After my dog was in a fight with another dog, he walked me thru the healing process without one stitch. It was several large puncture wounds and my girl recovered with no stitches or harsh chemicals. I refer everyone I know to him. He also works with reptiles and birds. Everyone there is personable.

I want to edit my original review. After posting my review, they called to discuss and hopefully fix the scenario. I appreciate this attention and care for customer service. My original review: he was rough with my bird and unhelpful. He let my bird fly around the room and crash into the window! He didn't seem to care about my bird at all, and put very little into my visit. Very unsatisfied.

All Animal Alternative Medicine offers homeopathy and holistic approach to veterinary medicine, as well as western mainstream veterinarian care. Dr. Doug Yearout, has been our go to vet for well over 20 years, because he has a way with all animals. So very caring and taking the time with each and every patient to find the best treatment options specifically for that animal. I’ve never been up charged, sold a bill of goods or paid more then what I consider normal and reasonable for the services my animals have been given. We go to Dr. Yearout for our yearly health checks and for multiple “issues” as they arrive. At the moment our 8 y/o French bull dog has had an eye issue. Dr. Yearout took the time with our girl to make her as comfortable as possible, prior to the exam. She needed multiple drops, dye and examination in order for Dr. Yearout to make a proper assessment. No doubt making him late for his next appointment. I am 100% sure, our appointment ran over. Unfortunately, this is Dr. Yearout’s normal every day life. You see before he even gets into the office, he’s already seen a patient at their home ( yes, he still does house calls). He also sees every patient before he leaves for the day...But what I know for sure, he gives 150% to every one of his patients, no matter what. We’ve been in touch all week. When he sent us to the eye specialist, he had gotten the report and read it by the time we returned home. I’ve reported back daily, I did try not to bother him during the 4th of July. But sent updates with photos and he always responds. He insisted we swing by so he could check our girl’s eye prior to our leaving for vacation. We may be able to not need eye surgery because of Dr. Yearout’s top notch care.

Dr Yearout is the best. My dog cut his tendon in back of his paw. He sowed it back, did a great job at an affordable price. I have been going to him for many years. He even saved one of my dogs, many years ago, from an operation with his homeopathic medicine. My dog had an ear full of blood and all the vets I saw wanted to operate. Highly recommended! PS: he loves the animals...Don't let his poeple manners deter you. He is the best for your pets

Sandra Taylor

Dr. Yearout cares passionately about his patients and is totally focused on his patient at hand. He spends the time needed to rule out and identify underlying issues. This is especially important when treating parrots! He has treated my dog with cancer when other vets wanted to do shoulder amputation and chemo...he removed the tumor and she has been in great health for 2 years. He has also treated my cat who has problems with his gums and was diagnosed with kidney disease. Dr. Yearout changed his diet and he has been symptom free for 5 years.

I trust him with all my animals which are like children. Homeopathy and holistic approaches are his specialty, which I like, but if allopathic interventions are needed he can do that too (western mainstream). Doug is kinda of an eccentric mad scientist type of guy, but he knows his stuff, and got there by being willing to investigate every approach to healing. Extremely honest and ethical.

If I could give Dr. Yearout 1,000 stars I would. We have been taking our dogs to the doctor between 15 and 20 years now. We have been blessed not to need to see him often, but he has never failed to resolve an issue yet. We currently have 5 dogs, that all went to see him a month ago, and had 7 dogs previously that have now passed. Dr. Yearout has worked miracles on a few of our dogs, literally miracles. One of our dogs had an emergency visit to a “normal” vet and were told she would probably not live through the night, there was nothing that could be done. We refused to take that answer and called Dr. Yearout, he saw her immediately. Within a few hours she was doing better, and she lived another 8 years. Another time I took our dog to our traditional medicine vet, because Dr. Yearout was not available, and I didn’t want to wait to find out what was wrong with her. After $1,000 in blood work and x-rays, I was told she had a massive tumor in her chest and they sent us to a specialist. Another 2 weeks and $2,000 spent on a specialist office visit and ultrasound tests, we found out the original x-ray was done wrong and there was no tumor. They offered to run more test to find out why she was sick, we declined and took her to Dr. Yearout. It took him about 45 minutes, no tests were needed, to tell me she was suffering from severe anxiety. I learned why and how reverse it, and he only charged me $85. Lesson learned, I spent $3,000 just because I didn’t want to wait two days for an appointment, and therefore my dog suffered 3 weeks longer then she should have. I have never put myself first again, over my sick pets since that day. There are so many stories I could tell just like these. I am writing this review because of the few negative reviews I saw. Yes, Dr. Yearout rarely runs on time for his appointments, when we make appointments we expect for him to be at least 30-45 min behind, and for the appointment to last at least an hour, our last one we were there 3 hours. But, the Doctor is MORE than worth the wait. He pays attention to your pet and REALLY watches them, he sees things that most people don’t even notice. He clearly is not doing this to meet a quota of visits or dollar volume each day, he clearly does this because he genuinely cares about animals. I don’t go to his clinic so he can make ME feel good, I go there so he can make my pet feel better. He is straight forward and tells you what he sees, and thinks is going on with your pet. There are a few times his honesty has been hard to hear, because I have failed at being a good pet owner in some way, but I have learned to appreciate his honesty, and I learn something new at every visit. At the visits I sit quietly, so he can concentrate on my pet, and I only speak when he asks me a question. I know he only suggests treatment for what he believes will help, and rarely does he ask me to spend money on lab test, which makes him a lot less expensive than any other vet I have taken my pets to. If he isn’t sure what is wrong with my pet he says that, and then he calls me a day or so later to tell me what he has researched and found out. Dr. Yearout earned my respect and heart felt gratitude the first time he helped me say good-bye to our 17-year-old Old English Sheepdog. The ceremony he has done for my dogs have been beautiful, and my pets were calm and relaxed, which makes the memory of those passing a little less sad. I honestly don’t know what we will do when Dr. Yearout retires, he will be hard to replace, if that is at all possible. All I can say to the people that complain about the Doctor being late or rude – get over yourself, you are supposed to be there for your pet’s wellbeing, so check your ego at the door. Great things come to those you wait.

Worst vet we've ever seen. He was rude to me and not very nice to my cat. He is very expensive, so go see him if you are a masochist and like to pay people just to abuse you. If you want to pay someone to treat you like a valued customer and be nice to your pet, we have better holistic vets in Snohomish county. Dr. Yearout spends more time telling you how great he is than he does actually doing anything useful. Fortunately we have since found an amazing holistic vet and our kitties are doing very well under his care.

He really knows how to pick out the perfect homeopathic remedy! I only trust my pets with homeopathic veterinarians

Elysse Kimberlin

Seems great with animals, and has good credentials, but is terrible with people... I took my cat in to see him, and while he was great with my cat, he was not personable with me, and aside from asking me questions and never looking me in the face, he acted almost like I wasn't even there. The previous review states that he is "obviously not in it for the money" but you could have fooled me: I had a 5pm appt time, I called at 5 minutes til and said I'd be 5 minutes late, so I get there at 5:05, and he hasn't finished with his previous pet/pet owner (not a big deal) until it was about 20 minutes later that he finally acknowledged my existence and invited us back to the exam room. I understand that doctors and vets can be late, that's fine...inconvenient (when you have a 3 month old breast feeding infant at home waiting for you), but fine. However, never once in all my years of owning pets and taking them to a vet have I been CHARGED A FEE for running over our 1 hour allowed appt time...especially when it was his fault we were late (not seeing me until 5:30) AND he continued to ask me questions past our appt end time (6pm) while never notifying me we were past the time AND never notifying me that he was charging me $1/minute for it. It was not until AFTER he had charged my card and I was examining my receipt that I noticed. Most expensive second opinion I've ever gotten. After that treatment, I went running back to my previous vet and thanked my lucky stars that his bedside manner was merely 'less than jovial'. All I wanted was a vet in Snohomish who cracks a smile once in a while, and still knows their field, but apparently THAT is too much to ask. And while searching for it, I managed to throw $100 down the toilet because Dr. Yearout didn't have any different ideas or diagnosis for my cat than the previous vet.

Made us wait over an hour for a 20 minute check up for my rabbits..not happy...

Took my little ferret there because she was having seizures. I was given about ten tiny tablets to dilute in water and give her a drop every 12 hrs. She got worse over the next couple of weeks. I felt so horrible because I paid over 200.00 and she got worse so quickly and found the same pills he gave me on Amazon 80 of them for $9.00. I called to see how much to put her to sleep and was told 100.00. I couldn't stand to let her hurt , I called back a few days later to see if he could possibly do it for a little less, I didn't have much money. This time I asked how much and if I could get a little break, in tears to save her from being in pain. I was told this time it would be 150.00 / 75.00 for office visit and 75.00 to put her to sleep. I asked what had changed and was told by Lorraine, nothing , he said 150.00. forget this awful money hungry place, it's not about your pet, it's about his Bank Account.

I recently took my beagle in to see Dr. Yearout to see if he could help Milo with his separation anxiety. I was so amazed at the caring Dr. Yearout showed and the degree to which he went to understand in detail my little guy. He prescribed a homeopathic remedy which I gave to Milo that evening and the next morning before I went to work. To make a long story short... It worked like magic! Milo is so much less anxious when I leave & when I come home. I would highly recommend Dr. Yearout. I had a great experience and a fantastic outcome. He has become my vet for my pup, my cat, and even my snake!

Very attentive and caring Veterinarian. Dr. Yearout tries to get to the root of problems to make your pet healthy and happy. His staff is very helpful and friendly as well. A comfortable office with very thorough exams.

Came to our appt which was at 5pm and waited until 545pm. I came to the receptionist and said, "We're not getting charged to wait, right?" And she says, "oh no, we will be here till he's finished." Which didn't even make sense to me because why wouldn't you be here until your finished...I have an appt! Then the vet came through a couple times not saying a WORD or apologizing for the wait. Then finally came in and looked at our chicken but still wasn't nice AT ALL. He then checked out our chicken and then proceeded to sit at the computer for 20 minutes as if he was researching on what to do. He then gets up and walks out without saying a word and disappears for 10 minutes. As we were waiting their pitbull that had been walking around the vet waiting room came INTO our room eyeing our chicken just sitting on the floor like she wanted to eat it and I had to get up and physically escort the dog out TWICE. FINALLY we get to leave around 7pm. The bill came out to $152 ($75 for exam fee which I already knew about) so I paid it thinking the little medicine we got was just a little expensive but that's ok because I just wanted to get OUT of there and have our chicken feel better. She handed me a hand written receipt that I didn't read because like I said...I just wanted to get OUT! I then get home and read that I got charged $25 for "extended time." Are you serrrrious? I even made a point by asking about if we would get charged (I read on ANOTHER bad review that this happened to someone else) Do any of you remember getting charged for when a doctor or vet is running behind schedule? No! Then the next day we wake up to a dead chicken so clearly was a waste of time and money. I DO NOT reccomend this place at all. It was the most awkward and frustrating waste of time I've ever encountered. After writing this review I recieved a reply that the doctor was trying to back up his reasonings for doing things. I did not agree with a stranger dog coming into our room unexpected with our turken EVEN if its "chicken friendly" as he said. How do WE know that? And it's still a dog...things can happen whether its "chicken friendly" or not. It was more about the non acknowledgment of the situation that was rediculous. No one said anything about it or helped me remove the dog. Also, charging a $25 fee because the doctor went over "his" time is not right. We waited for an hour so wheres my $25 for MY time? I DID communicate with the receptionist I wasn't happy with the wait so that was a complete lie. Waiting an hour to even be seen or acknowledged by the doctor is something NO ONE would be satisfied with. I'm 7 months pregnant and had a 2 yr old with me who was getting anxious and NO ONE even apologized for us waiting SO long. I'm a very easy going person and it takes a lot to upset me and the service provided was extremely aggravating. Obviously, anyone with this bad of a review is going to try and explain his reasonings for doing things and try to sound good. We weren't satisfied but trust me it was an awful experience.

Drove all the way out from Seattle. Waited 30 minutes from 11:30 (when they are supposed to open) til noon. Called the assistant multiple times without a response. Prior to making the appointment it took them a week to contact us after various messages were left. Overall a ridiculously sub-par experience. Would not recommend Yearout to anyone, as he obviously runs a poor excuse for a business, and has a very loose handle on the service he is supposed to be providing. Had this been an emergency, theoretically, our dog could have died.

Dr yearout is my favorite vet ever! He is incredibly smart and a expert in his field! He spent two hours with my sick kitten, saw my other cats, a did the best nueter job ever took(even got complements from vet techs on how well done the altering was) he takes his time with everyone, and even gave me his cell phone number for questions. His approach is different than the typical main stream pushing if heavy drugs and poisonous grocery store pet food diets. There is no one else like him as a vet or a person and I will miss him very much!! ( Clients know he retired)

Julie Hallmark

I’m not even sure where to begin, I guess I will begin with being his first appointment of the day and having to wait for him to casually stroll in 45 minutes later without an apology and he didn’t even introduce himself to me, then he proceeded to slam everything once he looked up from his computer after about 15 minutes while I sat there in silence, there was not one thing that I did right in his book ( and as far as I’m concerned making an appointment with this so-called holistic vet was one of my worst decisions ever ) he treated my dog very roughly, didn’t approve of the collar he was wearing which FYI I was a very basic collar that almost every damn dog in the world wears, I don’t use the collar for walking, I use a very good harness, and when I said geez I’m surprised I haven’t killed my dog I’ve done nothing right, then he swore at me and got mad so unprofessional I cannot put into words. Gave me some Google printouts which I’ve already read online and charge me almost $300 I will never ever recommend this man to anyone, if I could give him zero stars I would

Tiffany J Clark

Selisa Williams

I would give 0 stars if it gave me the option. These people are very hard to get ahold of, don’t do walk ins, and DO NOT get back to you in a timely manner. Unfortunately, there’s not many avian doctors around this area so it leaves this place and another vet clinic in arligton to choose from unless you have time to drive up to Seattle / Bothell (which often times you don’t in an emergency). It also costs $75 for the Dr to tell you there’s nothing wrong with your little companion.
