I am very dissapointed with my latest visit. The young lady who brought myself and our dog in was very nice and obviously loves animals which was great. The care for the dog seemed good as well. The issue I have is that a "Wellness" check up and "Vaccinations" were qouted to me as being about $110, which is accurate. While in the exam room I was told we should do a simple blood test and wanted growth checked, which seemed fair. When I was done the visit I was presented a bill for $355 !! When I asked if this was correct the nice woman at the desk checked with the Vetrinarian out back and came back and gave me my change and a copy of the bill. I actually felt bad for her as it was quite obvious she felt the bill was excessive as well as she said she was "sorry". I'm sure she unfortunately has to be the person who has to present these bills to unexpecting customers. I was shocked that the Vet didn't even come out to explain or discuss the bill with a customer. I know if I someone was quoted one amount for a repair or service and then was never given an idea of how much more certain thing would cost they would certainly be shocked when it was over three times the amount. Obviously I paid the bill in full but definitely not pleased with the slight of hand billing approach.

Today, I took my newly adopted dog there for her first visit; it gives my such reassurance to know that she will be so well taken care of. Their care is both professional and personal. This is the second time in 2 months that Vergennes Animal Hospital has immediately responded to our family members' needs. The first was when my aging chocolate lab, age 15, all of a sudden took a turn for the worse on one of the hottest days of the summer. I called every vet, including our vet in another town and every mobile vet around to get someone to come out and put him to sleep because that is what he deserved after all the years of love and loyalty he had given us. I couldn't find a single vet who would either call me back or respond to his needs. After exhausting all other possibilities, I called Vergennes Animal Hospital, of which we were not clients. They were immediately responsive when I called. I was so very thankful and relieved that my dog's suffering mattered to someone. In fact, Dr. Mark came out to our home and helped my dog when he needed it most. He was compassionate, gentle, and very professional as he allowed our lab to quietly pass on. We will never forget the fact that VAH responded so quickly! Just the other day, my new little rescue dog needed to be seen immediately for a broken toenail. Vergennes Animal Hospital immediately worked us into the schedule, treated her with sensitivity, as she was a brand new family member and a rescue, and followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure all of our questions were answered and that she was OK. I cannot say enough about Vergennes Animal Hospital. For 25 years, we used another animal hospital, and the service, compassion, and professionalism that is exhibited by the members of Vergennes Animal Hospital is above and beyond all my expectations! When we need a stationary vet, we will certainly continue to use the VAH!

I had such a good experience with Vergennes animal Hospital. I stopped in to make an appointment after other vets said they couldn't see us for two weeks. Because of a cancellation they were able to see us right then. The staff and Dr. Greg were friendly, professional, and very accommodating to my sweet senior pup. They even preformed the whole exam sitting on the floor with him so he wouldn't get more anxious by being placed on the table. The whole team was incredibly understanding, straightforward, empathetic, and kind in discussing difficult topics and decisions. I am super protective when it comes to my dog, and I instantly felt like they had his best interest as their first priority. Thank you for making a hard day so much better!

the best vet i've come across in vermont. the staff is so genuine and compassionate and empathetic. they do not act like they are doing you a favor when providing a service (which cannot be said about other local vets...ahem, bristol). they've correctly taught their staff bedside manners, which again, is often lost on especially vet techs. it's so important to me that staff is friendly and courteous, and this is literally the first practice i've come across where across the board all staffmembers i've encountered are just that. they even have a "lost but not forgotten" picture board on the wall to pay homage to all loved pets who've moved on. my last vet euthanized my dog in october, and didn't so much as send me a condolence postcard, generic or otherwise, let alone have something like this in their lobby. (they never forgot to send me postcards when she was due for her next shot though...) thanks vergennes animal hospital for being different and better; you are a light in the dark!

The staff at Vergennes Animal Hospital are great. The front desk team, the technicians, and the doctor(s) are friendly and helpful. The reason I first started coming here, though, is because the prices for treatment are more affordable compared to other veterinary hospitals in the Shelburne and Burlington area.

I have been taking my animals here for years and I have always felt that they did a good job. The last time I went in however, I had a very poor experience. I went in with my dog who has canine lymphoma to talk to the vet about putting her down. I was told I had to put a leash on my dog for them to talk to me. My dog is extremely well behaved, and her neck is so swollen she can barely breath. As I said I have had good experiences here in the past, but after this episode I will not be back

We recently moved here from New York. One of my two dogs, was having severe ear pain and allergies that were causing her distress. From the moment I reached the extremely caring receptionist I knew my fur babies were going to be in good hands and I was right. I was able to get my sick dog in within a few hours and able to schedule a routine appointment for both dogs within a week. The facility is very clean and inviting, the Vet Tech. came out and chatted with me in the waiting room, before my appointment. It was clear, he loved animals and wanted to get as much information about my dog before she saw the Vet. It seemed very important that they had as much information as possible before the Vet did her exam, which was reassuring. Both receptionists went above and beyond with kindness and professionalism, trying to obtain records from my Vet in New York (who had trouble locating our file). The Vet and her assistant were so good with my dog (who is older and a very nervous/shy girl), treated her so gentle and did everything in their power to make her feel comfortable. They were able to diagnose the problem and provide 4 medications that were working by nighttime. I have a follow up appointment scheduled as well, for a re-check. The information the Vet provided was very helpful and she also answered other questions I had about my dogs and was so helpful. It’s obvious that everyone who works in this practice loves animals. I can’t say enough good things about my overall experience here. I’m so thankful I found this practice and look forward to continuing my dog’s care with them. I also found the prices to be reasonable.

We adopted our English Bulldog Mr. Jack Pickles over 3 years ago. He is now 12 years old and the love of our life! He has had several health issues in the past due to his age and the staff at Vergennes Animal Hospital have been AMAZING with him!! They love him as much as we do and in return for a dog that is scared to be around a lot of people he actually enjoys going to the vet! Dr. Greg and team are very knowledgeable and take the time to work with each individual pet as if they were their own. They know "one size fits all" does not apply to all pets and we know if Mr. Pickles has to go to the vet he will be well taken care of. By far they give incredible service, we are lucky to have them as a resource!!

My little Doxie is 9 and is like a child to me, he was treated as well if not better than I have been at the Dr.'s lately. He had a complete check up and hopefully found some solutions for his issues. Both Dr. and Tech. very Professional but friendly towards my Brodie. Will be coming back when services needed again. This is our 2nd visit to the Vergennes Animal Hospital, and again both Brodie and I were very pleased with the service of all the staff. He just needed some blood work done but I had a few questions and concerns about him and they answered everything in a very friendly and professional manner. We found out we need to diet !! so we discussed a healthier way of eating. Will be coming in for weight check in about a month, so we better work hard.

They take excellent care of our aging dogs and they understand that our dogs aren't just pets - they're members of our family. They were especially helpful this spring when we lost our dear 14-year-old lab, Cheyenne. I have never in my life been treated so beautifully as I was today by any Vet hospital staff as I was by Vergennes Hospital and their staff. I have had many pets throughout my life, fostered many and rescued a lot more. I was welcomed with a firm handshake by my new Veterinarian Greg, and his technician Anna right off. I didn't wait at all, and everything was explained to me in great detail. I was treated with great respect and my cat Wrennie was treated lovingly and gently. I was so impressed by the whole place. It was so nice to be back in Vermont for the summer. We took Jerry to the Vergennes Animal Hospital to get his ears cleaned and checked for infection. As we expected, he did need treatment. Dr. Mark Basol was so good with him. We have been bringing our pets here for many years because of the consistently great care they receive. Dr Greg and all the veterinarians and staff at Vergennes Animal Hospital (VAH) are top notch! We have been a customer of VAH for 20+ years and they have helped us in the best and worst of times. All my life my pets (6 pets, really my furry kids/siblings if I am being honest) have been cared for by VAH. My almost 12 year old Boxer, Schilling, loves VAH so much that I am fairly certain that he has faked an illness or 2 to go get his VAH families attention and love. We trust VAH to do what's right and to treat our pets and us with kindness and caring. Schilling and Scherzer wanted me to mention that they love "checking themselves in and out with Rosie or Laura and getting more than their fair share of the special treats" (see the picture on the webpage of Schilling "checking in" :).
