We live in NY and only come to VT to visit family. Rutland Vet Clinic has been great for boarding our dog! Great reception, costumer service, and our dog seems happy when we drop off and pick up.

RVCSC provides excellent veterinary care. I have used them since 2002 when I first moved to Vermont from California. I am not an easy client and expect a lot of one on one communication and have lots of questions. They are great at giving me the information and answers I need. They have the latest equipment and knowledgeable staff. They know when to refer you to a specialist and when to handle a patient in house. I highly recommend RVCSC!!

We were driving through Vermont with no cell service and a very sick dog that had recently suffered an insect bite. She was having an allergic reaction at close to 5 pm. We got these guys on the phone and they were not only waiting for us, but gave wonderful care and called the next day to check on her. If I lived in Rutland I would take her here! Wonderful doctors and a great facility.

Our kitten Dexter was just 2 1/2 months old when we adopted him and he became ill as soon as we brought him home. We brought him to Rutland Veterinary Clinic &Surgical Center after he couldn't kick his illness on his own. He was literally on his deathbed and we were so afraid we would lost him. Dr. Macpherson and Dr. Kim both took on his care and he spent the week with them, getting syringe fed mulitple times through the day, medication to clear his infection and lots of TLC. He is now home and eating on his own, being playful and loving and we are just thrilled he made it. If it were not for the amazing care he got from Dr. Rob and his awesome staff, our kitten would not have made it. This place is top notch and I would highly recommend anyone with a pet to go here. Simply amazing!

The best Veterinary center in the part of VT. 24 hour care with highly skilled people who love what they do and understand pets are family members!

I love bringing my animals to this place. All the staff there are incredibly friendly and the best part is that they not only understand you but understand that money can be tight and they keep that in mind as they help their clients and their animals. The facility is kept up very nice and is always in tip top shape. I don't see myself bringing my cat to another Vet office ever. They are very good to me. They catch problems and they tell me what my options are for treatment. I highly recommend this place.

Aja Lyn Ewing

I have always had a great experience with this clinic. The staff has always been friendly and do their best to put my neurotic husky at ease. They are very good about reminding me about appointments and they always explain any shot or procedures in a friendly informative manner. I can't say enough nice things about them!

Ellie Kruszewski

Always professional, friendly and encouraging when we go in with Maggie. Always answers any questions and allows us to weigh her anytime we are going by. We can't say enough about having a Vet Clinic that has always been there for us!

Betsy J Jesser

Rutland Vet is the best ! I always walk away feeling that they really know my animals. The treatments are always tailored well and any surgeries or cleanings have been successful. Plus my dogs like the Vets and Vet Techs. And the ladies and gents that front are awesome. Thank You Rob and Co. I think they are the only ones that have someone man the Clinic 24/7. When every minute counts .. they are there !

The folks there were very nice when I brought my dog in with a laceration, However the cost was shocking. An estimate of $524. for stitches anti biotics is in my estimation a bit too steep. Man's best friend should be to the owner not the vet. I feel that just like human medical costs, veterinary cost have also gone insane. We love our pes though so it;s take it or leave it but I don't have to like it. Rating based on cost.

we have been clients of RVCS since 2008. We only have positive things to say about them. We love them so much that after our mr. Max went to the Bridge, we named our new puppy after our favorite vet, Dr Heidi Crane. The staff is always knowledgeable, polite and caring. We cannot speak highly enough of them.

Bonnie Chandler

Everyone was so compassionate! We received excellent care and we are so grateful!!

Abby Bennett

Some of the best veterinary care we have ever received for our pets!

L. Souder

First visit with 2 kittens - new to being "cat" people, they took the time and attention I needed to answer all of my questions. I am relieved I have found such a great place to take our new kittens, they really care and couldn't be nicer! They use an app, PetDesk, that makes it even easier to stay on top of everything. Highly recommend!!

I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Rob Macpherson and his staff. I drove over four hours from Connecticut to schedule femoral head surgery on my toy Australian Shepherd. They were knowledgeable, caring and offered 24/7 access to a vet and technicians. They offer pheromone-impregnated bandannas to help calm down your pet and the friendliest team of employees I have ever encountered. Prices are very fair - exceptional in comparison with local vets in Connecticut. They also have the latest technology from laser therapy to easy-to-digest prescription food for sick or injured pets. My friend recommended this practice and I will be forever grateful.

Florina Varney

we called them for help with a 3 week old kitten n they would not help not a very good vet

Debi Wilkerson

The facility is top notch! The staff if friendly and the providers are skilled and knowledgeable. I have great faith in them!!

Saturday morning I arrived at the clinic with my 16 month old lab/collie/ great Pyrenees mix dog, Brody. He was due for his rabies shot. I walked in the clinic and the two women at the front desk were extremely rude. I explained I had an appointment and was rudely told that I was too early. My appointment was in 15 minutes. My dog barked at another dog so we were put in a room. They don't like barking dogs. Then, Mike the technician came in and verbally attacked me for not sedating my dog. They don't like dogs to jump up either. I was criticized for just about everything you could imagine and then my dog was criticized. I don't know what Mike was mad about, but he was less than professional and in a horrendous mood. Then the vet came in and she was in a bad mood too. Maybe they don't like working Saturday. What happened? I used to brag about this place. They spent more time trying to sell me their products. I felt like I was being hustled to buy their meds, their dog food, etc.. it took almost 2hours until my paperwork was done and my bill was $167.00. I am very disappointed in the rudeness, pushy behavior to buy their products and the total lack of interest in my dog. He is like my child and when the vet acts like they are bothered by normal dog behavior, it's time for this clinic to rethink its image and customer service. Ive been a customer for four years and this last appointment made me so upset, I wrote this post. They need a total overhaul and all new staff.

joe cardillo

My dog Ozzie was in some sort of pain unlike anything he experienced before. The vet took a great deal of time and patience checking his legs, feet, back and then she said, I think he has a pinched nerve in his neck. She ruled out all other possibilities and gave his neck a little twist to the right and she says this is where it’s going to be painful and he yelped when she twisted his neck to the left. She said that’s why he’s favoring his left front paw. I was amazed at the professionalism while she was giving him his exam. He’s on medication now and he’s dealing with it. A staff member called me the next day and a follow up call from the doctor came in the late afternoon. Very professional. I’m new to the area and I’m glad I picked this Veterinary clinic. Top Shelf!

Deborah Costa

Rutland Veterinary Clinic and Surgical Center is the finest facility that I've ever used for my pet care. The environment is clean and the staff very gentle and attentive. I was able to tour the operating room and recovery area when my cat had some minor surgery and I felt that she was in the very best care. My only concern is the cost which is a bit high but they give you options in choosing what is best for you and your beloved pet. I only wish that I as a human could receive such comprehensive care. I will always use them as long as they are sensitive to my financial situation. Their emergency hours, doctors, staff and level of care are exemplary.

Richard Pearlman

Good place I boarded my dog here for the day it was only 15 dollars.

Grace Fordham

When our regular vet didn't find anything wrong with our precious 8 yr old Brittany, we brought her here. They were amazing! More thorough than any vet we've used in our 50 years. The kindness & compassion they show is outstanding. It is with sadness I tell you that our dog was suffering with cancer and eventually needed to be euthanized. But we will be using This clinic for all future dogs we are sure to adopt!

Fantastic clinic: well staffed with 24/7 emergency care and regular hours 7 days. Clean, spacious with plenty of parking and supplies needed for care of pets. Staff are very well trained, patient and caring. Vets are highly skilled and communicative, as are all staff. Appointments and follow ups are easy to make and they will work around your schedule when possible.

Abby Harvey

The staff here is compassionate, caring and professional. I will always recommend them and my family loves the fact that they always have someone available to care for your animals in any emergency! The access to exceptional care and advice 24/7 is well worth the price that you pay.

Dropped two pups off for an overnight. Staff failed to tell us that we needed to pick them up before noon the next day in order to not be charged a full day. We picked them up at 1:30 and were charged double for the 90 minutes past noon, without any notice from staff or mention on the website. Staff insisted the website stated noon pickup and were unresponsive to our showing them it does not. We feel the staff was sneaky to get extra money and not helpful in resolving the issue or compromising. Will not be using their services again. Oh and the pups came out dirty- greasy coats and dried filth on their paws and ears. They needed to be washed once they got home.

Penelope Pollard

This place is the best!

Vary slow on paper work and emails my poor dog has a broken leg and he has been home for the second day now what the heck is going on

I have been bringing my dogs and cats to Rutland Vet Clinic for the past 12 years. The staff is friendly and accommodating with appointments and emergency care. The facility is clean and they offer evening and weekend appointments.

Fast, professional and kind staff. Very happy I made the switch. Wonderful place!

The Staff not only made me feel that they cared about the health and wellbeing of my "Furry Kids" but about my feelings also.

12/6/14 We highly recommend trying laser treatments. We kenneled our two Standard Poodles, Jasper age 10 and Dudley age 6 for two days mid October 2014. Upon picking them up Jasper slipped a disk in his already arthritic back as he and my husband were walking towards the door and collapsed, All four of his paws curled in and he was in full paralysis. We feared he needed surgery or to be put down. Dr Crossman immediately administered a steroidal shot and calmly explained our options. We carried him home at 4:30 PM and hoped for the best knowing that anything we could do in the first 24 hours were critical to his recovery. We tried to get him to pee by holding him up, but he was unable. It was gonna be a long night. I slept on the floor next to him and at 1 AM he finally needed to go out and dragged himself to the door. I helped him walk and had to hold him up because he couldn't stand for as long as was necessary to fully empty his bladder. He also wanted some food and I gave him a Rimadyl. I felt these were good signs even though he was whining from the pain and walking on partially curled feet. The next morning I carried him back in for the first of six recommended laser treatments. Fearful he would fall, I carried him back out. Once home, I took him out of the truck and he hobbled over to a favorite spot and lifted his leg. Another good sign. That first week he went every two days for 8 minutes, after his 2nd treatment he put his front paws up on the desk to say goodbye and on his third treatment the technician assumed this was his sixth treatment because he was trotting out the door. I was elated. Week two brought two more treatments and he started wrestling with Dudley again. By the third week, he had his final treatment and we also noticed he could squat lower to poop than before he was hurt. He also has not needed his Rimadyl since this happened just under 2 months ago. Needless to say we are so thankful he responded so well and that there are alternative options to surgery.Thank you also to the incredibly caring staff who looked out for us and Jasper.

My best boy of 14 years passed peacefully away recently and the staff at Rutland Vet Clinic was the very best at helping my thru a very difficult time.

We have been taking our cats and dogs there for 13 years. Usually always a good experience. Had an issue one time with one of the ladies who checks in the animals. She is a German Shepherd trainer. We brought in our German Shepherd for a check-up and he was afraid to get on the scale. We were trying to coax him to get on and this lady came over, grabbed his leash and said to the dog, “If you think you’re going to win this fight, you’re wrong. I AM IN CHARGE!” She forcefully dragged him over to the scale and my dog became very frightened. My son and I were appalled and told her sternly to stop. She did and we never brought the dogs back there again. With cats, they are great.

Nobody touches Little Bear but Dr. Rob MacPherson... that’s why we drive 500 miles round trip from CT to have him seen twice a year! You think we love our dog... and Rob!?!!

Mary Jane Cratty

Petsitting our son’s eight month old bulldog puppy turned out to be a harrowing experience! While we were out, he swallowed an entire rope toy, with knot! We brought him in on a Friday afternoon and by Friday evening he was in surgery. Dr. Kim and the entire staff were terrific, they took wonderful care of him, and during the entire process kept us informed of George’s status, calming our worst fears. George is thriving and we are very grateful for Rutland Clinic.

Our cat Flooster had an obvious problem in a rear leg. At RVC&SC, they treated him kindly and soon homed in on the problem. Flooster appreciated the help and was able to return home after his visit. He continues to improve and is almost back to his old self.

Amber Ketcham

In my opinion from my experience I wouldn't bring the most vicious feral cat to this place. They abused n neglected my boy, treated him awful.. I was so upset

Victoria Ashley

Absolutely giving them 5 stars. I am from out of state so this was an emergency visit for us. She needed a suture on her paw from slicing it open on a shell in a lake. They got us seen by a doctor and a technician incredibly quick. I left her there for most of the day since she was being sedated. When the doctor was done with suturing she called me to update me on how it went. When I picked her up the technician was very informative. All of the staff was very friendly and the doctor and tech we saw were very patient and compassionate with Rory.Thank you so much!

This was my first time bringing my cat to Rutland Vet Clinic and I was very pleased with the care he received. I was impressed with the separate area for cats only, and the use of feliway pheromones to help keep him calm. The vet and technician were both very personable and helpful , and I left feeling very good about the care we received at the office. As soon as we got home Whiskey ate his food right away. It took him a day or so to fully come around, but he seems to be much better now. I really appreciate this office having Sunday hours as well, saved me an emergency visit fee if I were to have gone to the previous vet we were seeing. Also, the front desk staff was very warm and welcoming, so thank you to all for a great experience!

Had to bring my 11 year old German Shepard in cause couldnt be seen by normal vet. He hurt his leg and had to be put to sleep. Which was sad enough except the dumb vet didnt sedate him properly and as I was holding and petting his face he began screaming and lurching trying to get away until he went into cardiac arrest and finally passed on. This was in front of my family and they didnt even say sorry. Our beloved pet of 11 years did not deserve to die like this because of an incompetent "doctor" kust looking to get our money.

We always have a great experience each time we visit. The entire staff is amazing but most recently Scoobi has been seen by Dr. Golden and she is the BEST. The time, care and attention she gave to us and Scoobi was exceptional. We just can't say enough great things about Dr. Golden. Scoobi loves her and so do we :) We thank her and the entire staff for all they do for us and Scoobi. Thank you - Staci and Scott Buysse

I am very impressed with the professionalism and expertise at Rutland Veterinary Clinic that I consistently experience. I have several dogs all that mean the world to me. Dr. Mac Pherson and his staff have expertly cared for them from birth through death in a most compassionate and competent manner. I was at the clinic recently as an emergency case and afterwards was speaking with another client whose dog just had surgery. We both talked how fortunate we were to have this practice in the community. I told him I was in contact with other English Pointer owners from around the world and their main concern always was lack of good verterinary care. I feel very blessed to have this expertise that I continually can count on.

Steve Skaling

Your services are a bit expensive, but maybe not. With the quality of care I have received in emergency situations and regular office visits, maybe I should not complain about cost. Your work, empathy and compassion has been outstanding.

Lulu Anderson

The professionalism, expertise and hospitality at Rutland Vet is definitely a 5 for me. They treat me and my furry kids with respect and kindness. Maureen was so understanding and compassionate during the time that two of our furry kids passed on. She seemed to sense how much we needed from her and when to step back. Our pets are our life...we do everything with them. We feel very content with the care that Rutland gives us and our furry kids. We have two now who actually love going in there...I believe that the staff helps them to enjoy the visit. I rely on their knowledge and experience to guide me in maintaining the health and longevity of our kids lives. Having a pet does require a bit of money these days....more than it did 10 years ago. But everything is more expensive...a whole lot of prevention can prevent a whole lot of costly interventions...I support people to adopt and spay .. a pet does not have to cost $1500....save a life...adopt.

I have been bringing my animals to Rutland Veterinary Clinic for 12 years. They are hands down the best vet clinic around! The staff truly cares about the health and well-being of each animal that walks through their doors. I have always been very happy with the care that my animals get when I bring them here.

Kelly Boulger

Wonderful Office. It felt like they cared about our pup as much as we do. Very affordable for the amount and extent of care they gave our boy. Started as an emergency visit and ended with us becoming one of their clients. :)

My cat Sushi has struggled with asthma since a month after adopting him. Last Thursday he was suffering a very bad attack. My normal vet was not on that afternoon and suggested an emergency visit. I called Rutland Veterinary Clinic and not only was reception extremely helpful and understanding, they got me in as quick as hanging up the phone. They reached out for his records, they listened to my concerns and Dr. Davenport and her assistant did amazing with him. They took little to no time at all, made the experience quick and easy, and offered some good advice about the medication he’s on now, that I was concerned with. Not only that, I expect to shell out around $800-1000 for an emergency visit. They charged me $206 for everything. Exam, shot AND more of his medication. I am beyond happy with this experience and trust in Rutland Veterinary Clinic whole heartedly!

RVC&SC is an excellent place to bring your animals, for routine care or emergencies. I have brought my cats and dogs there and they have always done a great job and every single staff member I have met has been very nice and helpful. I have called twice for emergencies and one time they had to come in the middle of the night, around 2 Am and they beat me there and they were waiting at the door for me to help my dog. You can tell they honestly care about your animals and they are there for you around the clock, call them and they will come running to help you. That means a lot when our pets are family. I especially like Dr. Rob and Dr. Kim, they have both gone above and beyond to help me with my animals. I highly recommend this practice, there there for you 24/7 & 365, and offer everything including boarding and grooming, and you will always be treated kindly and your animals will be in great hands!

I have taken my 2 standard poodles to Rob and his team. they have always been kind to me and wonderful with my 4 legged children. Have been especially pleased how emergencies have been handled.

Always excellent care for my dog and cats.

Over the last 20 years RVC has cared for four of my families dogs. It's the staff's the professionalism, expertise and compassion that keeps coming back for our pets care.

Jason Hupe

We have been taking our Lab to Dr. McPherson for the past 8 years. We live over an hour away so it is not the most convenient option, but after our first experience with them following an ACL repair when our girl was four years old we decided to use them for all of our Vet services. They are all super kind, considerate and we have always felt in great hands with all the staff there. We recently had to have an infected tooth removed and growth removed from our dogs leg. That experience was great as usual, and after our dog twice, ripped open her stitches, both times they made it work for use to bring her in during late hours and were able to help us. We would recommend them for all your pets needs and we will continue to use them, even though we live in upstate NY, for all our pet needs. Thank you Rutland Veterinary Clinic for all your care!

Lynn Silloway

Fabulous hospital and staff: reception, groomers, vet techs and doctors! They've saved my cat who got hit by a car, get down on the floor and do an exam on my dog who is scared of the table, once stayed open late as I raced in to buy de-skunking shampoo, and so much more, Last week I brought my cat, who hates going to the vet, to be examined. Megan, the vet tech was absolutely wonderful, professional, calm and informative as she proficiently handled my very angry cat.

I have brought my dogs and cats to Rutland Vet Clinic since 2001. They have the most professional and experienced staff in the area and have always guided me in the right direction with caring decisions for my animals. They have been so consistent with their service and seem to hold the same staff members for many years. I wouldn’t consider bringing my loved ones anywhere else. Thanks for all you do!

I am the Administrator for Noah's Ark Animal Hospital in Danbury, CT and South Salem Animal Hospital in South Salem, NY. The owner, Dr. Jeffrey Hubsher, asked me to post the following review on his behalf. I own two successful animal hospitals in and near Danbury, CT. My dog became ill while I was in Rutland, VT. I brought “Mini” to see Dr. Robert McPherson at Rutland Veterinary Clinic. The service was excellent and caring. The facility was clean and inviting and the care that Dr. McPherson delivered was exceptional. Mini responded to the medication and is doing well. From someone on the inside of the industry I highly recommend this animal hospital. They were great! Dr. Jeffrey Hubsher
