I LOVE the staff there - especially Dr. Sonya Zehle, who has worked with us from day 1 with our dog (who is NOT vet friendly), to make our visits as comfortable, stress-free, and quick as possible. Her and the staff come outside when we check in to do any paperwork, then wait until the waiting room is empty to escort us to the weighing area, then quickly in to a room. From there, they come in, give sedative, and run out. Once our dog is "out cold", she and a staff member come and complete a thorough examination while answering all questions and remaining calm and comforting. Once the exam is finished, they reverse the sedative and the dog is carried to the car to wake up while one of us stays behind to complete any other questions & payment. ALL OF THIS, EVERY TIME. They're wonderful at this vet! I have had to call several times since moving to NY and I always get a timely and thorough response. I highly suggest seeing Dr. Zehle and going to enjoy this wonderful staff!!

We have a puppy we started bringing here after a recommendation from a friend that they practice alternative medicine from time-to-time. I'm not sure I would call them alternative, but they are very on top of things and we have been completely satisfied so far.

We brought our 10 week old Jack Russel here for her second booster shot and deworming, not only did we get what we needed, but the veterinarian (Dr. Chu?) was so kind and helpful with telling us what more she may need (Heartworm medicine and dog to dog socialization), she reassured us that we seem to be doing a great job training her and feeding her the right amount, which is always great to hear from the doc! We have our second appointment coming up for next week and we will be happy to go back once again :) I highly recommend them for their kindness and great information for new puppy owners!

I fully recommend River Cove Animal Hospital. I am someone who has been lucky enough to have always had animals in their life, so I've had a lot of experiences with vet offices. River Cove has given me the best experience I've ever had. They are very nice, and caring with the animals, and it shows. They provide a quality service that is worth the price. Sure, not everything is exactly cheap, but since when is any kind of healthcare cheap? When I brought in a sick kitten, they always took the time to help me, and walked me through the available options. When it was time to say goodbye to the animals I loved, they were very respectful, walking me through the process at a speed I was comfortable with, and they gave me the time I needed to say goodbye. They made one of the most painful experiences of my life as painless as they could. I can only imagine they provide the same level of care to all of their patients.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Zehle and the staff at River Cove. Due to travel for work and a cat who has always struggled health wise, we have been to vets all over the country. No vet can compare to Dr. Zehle with not only her skills to diagnosis but also with her huge heart and infinite amount of compassion. At a time that was very difficult for our family, we were so grateful to have found her.

Both of my dogs have been going to River Cove the majority of their lives. We almost always see Dr. English for one and Dr. Lincoln for the other. My older dog recently had two seizures and from an owner’s standpoint, I have never felt so helpless. I worked with Dr. English and I couldn’t be happier with his attentiveness, care, and approach. He has always delivered care as if the pet was his own. I can’t say enough about both of these doctors and the staff. I feel comfortable leaving my best friend in their hands when necessary. Thank you everyone for your support during this trying time.

The staff at River Cove Vet are some of the most incredible, genuine and caring people I’ve ever met. Although it’s a bit pricey, the compassion and reassurance of the employees make up for it completely. Recently I was running late to pick up medicine and the receptionist offered to stay after closing so I could get my cat her medicine. Bella, Draco and I thank you all deeply! Definitely recommend River Cover to everyone!

A friend recommended taking our cats to River Cove because of Dr. English and Dr. Lincoln's gentle and experienced care with kitties (we have worked with both of those vets). We rescued our cats and they were ridden with upper respiratory infections and some other illnesses in their young lives. We saw the vets many times after a short period of adopting and the staff and veterinarians were amazing to help us cut costs and problem solve so that we didn't have to bring the cats in weekly. We have since seen Dr. Zehle and she is so attentive, knowledgeable and willing to work with our budget. The vet techs are helpful, always go out of their way to be friendly, and listen to our every worry over the phone and in the office. Your animals/furry babies will be well taken care of and loved at River Cove Animal Hospital!

Because we've had a lot of pets, we've enjoyed the happiness of bringing in new additions for their initial check up and, sadly, bidding farewell to dear friends and soulmates. They've celebrated with us at times and offered heartfelt compassion and sympathy at other times. The staff, from desk personnel to the doctors have always been here for us, even when we needed them outside office hours. We would never take our pets anywhere else.

Not a good place to bring cats. The noise level of the dogs is too loud, they are barking and crying in the back of the facility. In the waiting room the dogs roam freely coming over to my cat cage, making the experience overall more stressful for the cat.

This vet is exceptional. I live in NC, however, I am a native Vermonter so once a year or so I come up for a visit with my dog. He has had a slew of health issues the vets down south weren't particularly effective in addressing so when I spent an extended time in VT I brought my dog to River Cove. The staff, from the receptionist to the doctors, have been beyond exceptional and an absolute asset to making enormous strides in dealing with my dogs chronic health issues. Even now as I'm returned to NC I still touch base with them on decisions about continuing my dogs medical care. Even when I call with a question, the receptionist usually remember my dog and I as soon as I mention his name. And my positive experience with River Cove hasn't just been with my dog, I have brought previous pets to them before moving to NC and they've all received top quality medical care. They are a bit pricey but you're paying for quality and they've always been very upfront about prices, treatment options. I never feel like I'm just a money opportunity for River Cove. They truly do care, they are the best! Edit: I've seen practically all the doctors there and they're all top notch! I highly recommend Dr. English for kitties, though! My cat would not be here at a healthy 12 years old if it weren't for his out-of-the-box thinking.

Dr English and the staff are fantastic. He takes phenomenal care of my 11 year old shepherd / husky / malamute mix who has a mixed bag health issues. They return phone calls whenever I have a question about Zuk and always check how he's doing. Zuk is very protective since my husband passed away but tell him we're going to see Dr. English and he can't wait to get in the car.

River Cove, especially Dr. Josh Lincoln, have given great care to my two Labradors over their entire lifetimes (one to age 12, one to age 15). When I said to my dog Savvy "Let's go see Josh" there wasn't a pause; she was ready to go.The quality of care and advice has been excellent, as well as compassionate. The staff and vet techs are friendly and extremely helpful. I treasured each of my dogs and I am so glad we have had the River Cove support and advice.

I have had largely excellent experiences with the staff here. Dr. Zehles, Dr. English, and Dr. Jennings in particular have been very helpful, especially when my dog had a dietary indiscretion that required some intense follow-up work. They tried to cut costs for me by limiting the number of x-rays that they did and were very empathetic to my concerns about the situation. They also took my history and opinions into account when treating and helped me to access medication that she needed just as they were closing on a Saturday. Even though we have moved a couple of towns over, I will continue to bring our dog to them because I feel that she is in safe, competent and caring hands at River Cove.
