Hi my name is Gail. I first went to onion River animal hospital when my dog Ace was sick because my vet was on vacation. they were very good to me and my family and new exactly what was wrong with my mini wire coat dashound which is common in that breed my dog later died of neck and spine issues but every time I brought him they're very loving and caring about ace . weeks later I got a cat for my son through the human society and I had a free vet check so I went back and the people there were great with my cat to. thought I said that I didn't want another dog seven months later I adopted a rescue dog cooper and I brought him there to he's a beagle Bassett hound and loves the ladies.all I can say is if you need a vet they are the very best I would recommend them to anyone and a lot of my friends for there to.

This review is long overdo. We used Onion River for 3 years when we moved back to VT for our little toy poodle Zack. Zack was aging and they took extremely good care of him and when the day came "suddenly" when Zack left us, Onion River was nothing less than professional, comforting, and sympathetic as we struggled with the loss of our little boy. I will always use them as a service as they truly care, not just for the animals well being, but for the owners as well. Truly remarkable!

My cat had been in a cat fight and two days later still wasn't walking right. She seemed to be losing more and more mobility. Onion River Animal Hospital was able to get us an urgent care appointment the same day I called. They were very patient with me. I needed to have someone else drop off the cat and getting her there was proving to be a challenge. They remained patient while I sorted it out. They were pleasant and reassuring. They explained her injuries to me and how they had treated them. The charges were reasonable and they followed up within a couple days to make sure she was on the mend. I really appreciate what they did for me and would certainly recommend them.

Very clean, quiet and calm veterinary facility. I was in with my new puppy who had a serious uti just a week after getting her and our regular vet was out of town. My only reason for removing a star was that they took her out of the room for an ultrasound examination to determine if they could get a urine sample, and I would have much preferred the option to stay with her, especially since I didn’t know any of them.

Each of these professionals has carefully explained the diagnosis of the problem and our various options for treatment, along with suggestions when we requested it. I can't express how impressed I was with the staff and care provided at ORAH. The day after Thanksgiving I called in for an emergency visit when my Lab, Knox, developed very alarming, extreme stomach bug/flu symtoms. ORAH had us in and examining him within HALF AN HOUR of my phone call! The entire staff was very sympathetic, caring (even when he got sick in the lobby - twice..), professional and informative about how they were going to treat my boy. I especially want to commemorate Lisa, the first tech I dealt with - I don't think I've ever dealt with a tech that is so compassionate, sympathetic and personable. She made us feel comfortable right off, could relate to what I was dealing with, and was overall truly fantastic. The facility is beautiful; I felt like even Knox was extremely comfortable even though I was leaving him in a new place. After 2 days of IV fluids, and what I thought was a reasonable price tag considering my situation (exactly what they quoted me, or less!), Knox came out tail wagging and with a total change in energy. ORAH really truly cares about their customers and their pets, and I am thankful that I didn't try to make the trip to Burlington (my car is too).

I liked them before they moved but now of all the vets I've ever been to they're the most $$$$ driven I have ever witnessed...if she dies this won't be all I have to say. If you love your fur baby don't go there. You'll go to treat worms and leave with Parvo. Proceed with caution. I wouldn't bring my pets back there if you paid me. One star is to many.

Our beloved 16 year old American Tabby started losing weight, became listless and developed a fever. Dr. Gentile diagnosed a kidney infection, rehydrated her with intraveinous solution and prescribed oral antibiotics for 10 days. Today, our little, silver cat is her old self again Thank you Dr. Gentile and Onion River Animal Hospital. Every single staff person we met there was caring, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. We have been with Onion River for almost 30 years and I would not take my pets to anybody else. The care and compassion and humanity we have received time and time again for our multiple dogs we have had cannot be surpassed. And we have had some serious health issues with our dogs over the years and Onion River is ALWAYS there for us. And I have seen them do the same for my elderly parents dog several years ago with a special kind of love and caring for them too when they lost their dog. The staff is outstanding, supportive,,knowledgeable and make me feel better as soon as i go into the office with a problem. I simply called back after speaking to a Vet Tech regarding the dosing for my dog on a new medicine. Nan was rude and talked to me like I was stupid, I don't appreciate that at all.

However, Onion River has MULTIPLE GREAT VETS who will give your pet the oversight that you might need. We moved from MA to VT a year ago and took our 'complicated' cat Tina to visit Dr. Bradley. She was showing signs of stress and anxiety after our move, over grooming her belly severely. Dr. Bradley diagnosed possible allergies in addition to her anxiety and a need for some teeth extractions. She administered an injection of Depo Medrol to immediately deal with the 'fur mowing' on her belly and it worked great. Within hours our kitty was much less frantic about grooming. Within days, we noticed more fur on her belly. Still a ways to go with her teeth extractions, but all in all a very nice practice and Dr. Bradley was especially kind and gentle with Tina. Would highly recommend Onion River.

I had my dogs speyed and neutered here. They were very accommodating when my dogs were nervous and took good care of my dogs while they were there. The only problem I had was that they said they would call me before billing my credit card to tell me the amount and nobody called. They also said they would call me when the dogs were out of surgery so I knew everything went okay and they didn't call. both times I had to call. It's a really good place to take your animals, just make sure you're on top of things.

The new space at 2386 Airport Road is AMAZING. Not only did I have an emergent visit need on a Saturday and they were able to fit me in, my dog was really more calm in the new space. I would just like to say i brought Bella back yesterday and Dr Kulp and her vet tech took such good care of my little girl and Erin was like an angel making it possible to help Bella. Emotions sometimes get in the way when I watch bella not herself, she is all i have and kept me going through really tough times . It was no nice to see Bella not only eat last night but she didn't whimper as she has done for the past two weeks. I recommend takin your fur babies to ORAH. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff at ORAH. Our fur babies LOVE Dr. Flynn - as their humans, we very much appreciate her willingness to listen, communication style and compassion. The office staff are always upfront about costs, necessary medications (letting you know when there are OTC versions available!), and have helped me to schedule unexpected visits as soon as possible within their schedule on several occasions. I will also add that when it came time to let one of our babies cross the rainbow bridge, they led us through the decision making process with ease and, perhaps most importantly, support. Jameson came to our home for the procedure and gave us the time, space, and understanding that we needed with our beloved boy. My kitty, Princess Pretty Paws, suddenly went into kidney failure. The staff here did everything they could to help her but after a couple days, we had to put her down. The staff was amazing through the entire process. They were thorough, informative, and compassionate. Their pricing is very fair for their services, and honestly, with such an incredible staff, I would have paid double! I really want to give a special thank you to Allison, one of the vet techs, who was with me through the majority of this process. She was extremely kind and compassionate, and so sweet to my kitty. She also won’t sugar coat things, if you ask for that. Her sense of humor is also very uplifting. Additionally, the staff was incredible as I went through the process of euthanizing my sweet kitty. I was able to take as much time as I needed with her, and they offered me foam imprints of her paws as well as ink paw prints on paper. They also were very kind and shaved off a tuft of her fur for me to keep. Onion River is absolutely incredible and any future pets I have will 110% be going to see them for any sort of care! Thank you guys so much.

ORAH is definitely a five star hospital ! The receptionists are always helpful and understanding. They are able to fit our cat Holly into the schedule quickly, if the need is emergent. If we have questions and would like a return call, the receptionist arranges it, and we always hear back from staff the same day. Once in the office, the wait time is short. The Vet techs are wonderful; competent and caring, with Holly and us ! The Vets are excellent; professional, very knowledgeable, gentle with Holly and understanding of our needs and worries. We had to take my rescue dog Petey for injuries to urgent care . We had never been here before and they got us right in and treated him like Royalty . Been pleased with the medical staff here. The front desk seems cold and not always very useful. The exam rooms seem to be well equipped and the place is very clean and nice inside. They wouldn't fax/send a prescription to 1800-petmeds. You have to get a paper one and mail it yourself
