As for the complaining folks here..do not have a pet if you can't afford to take care of it properly. Fitzgerald's always does what is best for my pets and tells it like it is...which is the way it should be. Its about what's best for them..not how YOU feel..

My dogs have been patients at FAH for over 20 years, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. All 3 vets are absolutely first rate, and so is the important support staff. Three years ago they literally saved the life of my very sick pup, and even now they call him the ‘miracle puppy’-but it was their outstanding care and expertise that pulled him through! A pleasure from the moment you walk in the door, until checkout. Every appointment is a pleasure and enjoyable for owner and dog!

I came to Fitzgerald via recommendation... I regret it! My dog saw Dr. Fall for a lump on his belly... she didn't seem concerned about it and said, "don't worry about it" several times. Not only was she passive about an issue I brought to her attention, she was condescending about what kind of food I was feeding, and that my dog is on a 'free-choice' diet... even though he's in his weight bracket. This place was highly overpriced for the services I received... I ended up visiting another veterinarian for a second opinion.

I wish firzgerald veterinary could offer more consumer insight to nexgaurd tablets. I was giving them to both my dogs in the most recognized time of the season for tick awareness, and one of my dogs still came down with symptoms. I just hope since I caught it early, that antibiotics help cure the ongoing concern.

I brought my cat here freaking out because his butt was bleeding and I didn't know what to do. I was honest with the receptionist and stated that I didn't get paid until the next day and didn't know if I would be able to pay in full for the services that day but wanted to make sure my cat was okay. I love my cat more than anything. The receptionist told me that only a vet could authorize me to come back and pay the next day if needed. When the vet came into the room and announce that just to talk to her was more than I could pay that day, I was afraid she wouldn't let me have my cat back. She forced me to call friends and family to beg to borrow the money from some just to pay to speak to me. She did not leave the room until I had confirmed my dad would pay for the full vet visit. Will not go back because I was honest with them about my money situation and then they forced me to see a vet and pay more than I could that day. The vet was rude about the situation and did not make me feel welcomed at all. I do not recommend them at all and make sure that all of my friends who need vet services only go there as an absolute last resort.

Drs. Fitzgerald & Fall take superb care of our standard poodle Chloe, who has a couple of medical reoccurring problems over the years. But Chloe is always happy to come to the hospital to see them--and she loves Dr. Fitzgerald--smiling and wagging and nuzzling for the pets he always gives her. How many people can say that about their pets and vet?

Since we were new to town, we came to Fitzgerald based on the google reviews, which is why I felt compelled to post my first ever online review. Dr. Flanders was cold and made several inaccurate diagnoses and recommendations for our cat. Not one person we worked with there seemed to have a love for animals. Unsure of where else to go, we followed Dr. Flanders recommendation for our cat to stay overnight, and when we came back to visit him the next day, our normally extremely laid back, friendly cat was frantic, panicked, dirty, smelled terrible, his IV was haphazardly placed (this was not his first nor his last visit at a vet's office, so we are very familiar with what it should look like), the cone he was wearing was filthy dirty, and had a staph infection all over his paws and abdomen. We were concerned about his well being and decided to immediately take him home and find a new vet. We had a fantastic experience with River Cove Animal Hospital as well as BEVS. Our cat spent a week at BEVS with an IV and we visited him every day there. Not once did he appear uncomfortable or panicked in any way. It was a testament to how poor the care was at Fitzgerald. We felt it was important to let others know of our experience since the sole reason we went to Fitzgerald was from the number of positive reviews.

I went for the first time this week with my pure bred Shih Tzu. The staff were all very informative and made me feel confident that she was in good hands. While my puppy vomited . They even phoned me after being home 1/2 hour to ask if she was ok and had she vomited again. Really made me feel they care.

I have used this vet hospital for over 20 yrs. The staff is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. I love the great care my dog receives every time we visit. I adore my dog and do what I can to keep her happy and healthy. My only issue is the extreme cost of the visit. I could not believe it when I saw I was charged for poop disposal. I will continue visiting here due to the great care for my dog.

I have been bringing both my boys (dogs) for about 3 years. One of my boys IS the definition of a rescue. We've done A LOT of training with him but the one thing he will NOT let happen is his nails being cut. We've tried everything! It was time to bring him to the vets office as they suggested to sedate him for a nail trimming. When I called to schedule the appointment, I was told the appointment would be 52$ and he would have to be left at the office for monitoring for 4 hours after the injection. When I arrived at the appointment everything was going good and WHILE THE NEEDLE was in my dogs leg they tell me it will be 111$ and there was no monitoring after. As anyone would be, I was VERY UPSET they not only changed the price on me but told me WHILE the needle was in my dog! I asked to speak with the doctor and the vet tech would not get the doctor for me. Never even saw him! He asked me to at least pay for the injection (95$), I agreed. He then cut his nails and as soon as he got done told me, I NEEDED to pay for the nail trimming now too since they did go ahead and trim them... SO WAIT?! You would've sedated my dog made me pay for putting chemicals into him then NOT CUT the nails?! I am furious! I've paid HUNDREDS, actually over a grand or more in this office always at the time of the visit and they couldn't honor what they quoted me?! I asked for both my dogs records immediately. I never write reviews but today a review to warn people of their staff and their office management needed to be put out to the public! I highly recommend you find another Vet home with someone else!

It was an awful experience. Hidden fees and unnecessary tests. We took our dog to another vet for surgery based on a friends recommendation, I suppose that's where we are going for everything else from now on. There were a few friendly faces there, but for the most part incompetent and rude is how I would describe the staff.

The vetinarians themselves are friendly but for the last few physicals I have brought my dog in for I have told them 3 different times I only wanted specific shots and they still gave her all of them, I'm going to find a new vet, one that will listen to the customer and not ignore a simple request.

My puppy loves going here and the staff are always so warm and friendly to greet us. It's like she, and by extension me, are part of a greater "family". The puppy socialization classes did wonders for my girl! I've recommended my sister when she rescued her new kitten that was sick. They always take such great care of my pup and I know she is in good hands.

My now 13 year old chihuhua has gone to Fitzgerald’s since he was 8 weeks old. I was so bummed when I received the email that Dr. Fitzgerald retired, but had become familiar with the other staff. Well, back in December my dog was due for his rabies shot and a wellness check. They suggested a distemper that I really did not want to do, but was talked into it. My pet has not been the same since. I have spent over $1000 with no answers. I am taking my dog to Petit Brook moving forward. I do not recommend this vet to ANYONE now that Dr. Fitzgerald has left! Whoever took over seems to be more about $$ than anything else! Whatever is going on is def. from whatever this place did in December to my dog!

I've been bring my fur babies to the Fitzgerald team in Colchester ever since I got my first cat from the shelter. That I may add was 19 years ago and my cat is still going strong! Since then I've added 5 more along the way, 2 of which are no longer with me. I can't express enough the caring and passion they have for the animals that come thru those doors. I've seen different Dr's there, but our favorite is Dr Jennifer Faul. We always request a time that she'll be there to see us. My cats are healthy and happy thanks to the good care they get from her and the assistants. I recommend them without hesitation when people ask where I bring my babies. We love you all at the Fitzgerald Veterinary Clinic! ❤❤❤❤

I moved back from Florida and took my male tabby to Dr Fitzgeralds office. (My cat had gone there when he was a kitten and had gotten declawed and spayed there.) I had brought him in because he had lost weight and it turns out that he had diabetes. When I returned to the office to get him looked at to find out how to handle the diabetes, they handed me a sheet of paper with prices of insulin and needles etc. they left me in the room and said that if I had any questions I could ask the Dr when he came in. I asked many questions and all I got in response was rude and condescending behavior. Dr F even commented that the cat had been declawed. I told him that he did it back in 2000 and he told me that he never declaws cats. I told him that I remember him doing it and he practically called me a liar. I then went to a Vet that answered every one of my questions and made me feel at ease. Dr F's office is one I tell my friends NOT to go to. I didn't appreciate being treated the way I did. Very poor experience.

I feel that Fitzgerald Veterinary, really do care about the well-being of our "fur-baby." and offer lots of good advice on any issues, concerns, or just out of curiosity for us....They also have helped us through our process in helping our Blake, (our dog) in his allergies and what NEEDS to be done so he doesn't suffer and other ways to be helpful so he can be the best dog he can be!!! I would definitely suggest this place to friends and family!

Being new to Vermont and a new pet (cat) owner, I was recommended to Dr. Fitzgerald's by Pet Food Warehouse and while I love Pet Food Warehouse their suggestion did not please me. In the almost three years we've had Haley and now 1 year old pup Roodie we have not been pleased with our vet visits. It seems that the general aura is that getting through the day and seeing the money at the end of it is more important than the animals they work with. Our more holistic and homeopathic suggestions or questions were brushed aside as they put more emphasis on medication and in-house bought food brands without being able to explain why such food was better. The straw that broke the camel's back was this past week when I brought our pup in for a very bad cut to the front pad. After learning that I would have to leave him there for the day to get stitched up I was never told what was going to happen, just handed a liability form to sign. I was promised a courtesy call when Roodie was out of surgery-I received no call. Finally, at the end of the work day I called over and they said, "of course he's ready to go." I never saw the doctor only the aides who provided me with more information about how to tie his shameful cone than anything about the surgery, the bandages, what to avoid, what to do, medication, anything. Anything would have helped; here I am with my poor pup all bandaged up and looking to me for help. I got all of our records that day and closed the doors on Fitzgerald. What a shame...

If you are on any kind of budget make sure you ask to discuss medications, procedures, and charges before anything gets done. Dr. Jennifer Faul is an accessorizing pro and would of done very well in sales if she decided not to become a Vet. She's made me feel very uncomfortable on several visits. Their new addition Dr. Adrian Flanders is much better at communicating and made me feel much more welcome. I have heard several people being upset by "sticker shock" at the front counter..I guess this is the way they make their money but in my opinion it would make happier customers if there was better communication of charges, medications, and why they are being prescribed or performed. Glad there are plenty of other options out there.

We got our current dog as a rescue puppy from here and we have even boarded him there on a trip. They helped coordinate care for our dog when he was very sick a few years ago with Peak Vet Hospital until he was recovered. Highly recommend these folks for your pet.

Fitzgerald Veterinary Hospital is the BEST hospital I’ve ever brought my dog to. Dr. Faul is fantastic and always has helpful suggestions. Dr. Flanders is so nice, and is always willing to answer my questions(even if they’re silly). The technicians have so much knowledge about everything, from food to helpful training tips. The practice manager, Patty, is so sweet and always comes out with a smile on her face. Everyone is so welcoming and I appreciate everything they do for my Arnold. Oh and that Patrick! This place has treated us well so far. They have been very responsive to our concerns with our little pup, and always work with our budget as well, providing alternatives to costlier treatments. Our Vet, Dr. Flanders has been spot on in treating our little guy so far and the supporting staff are amazing, bright, and full of love for every animal that walks in. Other perks: complimentary coffee in the lobby, with every appointment dogs can have their nails clipped and anal glands expressed (which is so nice not to have to do yourself), and there's an awesome parrot in the lobby named Otto. Fitzgerald has a small product section with different foods and treatments, but they aren't pushy trying to get sales with them. Overall, great place so far and we are completely satisfied with their services and treatment of our little pup.

I would never recommend this place to anyone to bring there pets to this place. I can only pray they shut down, and have other employees run the office! Or at least get rid of a couple people that work there now. The practice manager as she is called is the most rude person I have ever met and right by her side is a tech Shelby who needs to learn respect for the clients, has the worst attitude towards us pet owners and towards our pets. I would trust her to handle my animals ever again, also for goodness sake wear clothes that fit you my dear. I would prefer not to see your butt crack among other stuff when I was at the office. This place is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to.

Fitzgerald veterinary hospital, like many veterinary hospitals, is money hungry. I have dealt with Fitzgerald himself, but he is one of the few competent vets there, the others, not so much. They charged us for a rabies shot, which I found our later that they did not do. They asked for a recheck, and this is when they gave me another rabies tag. I questioned them about it, and apparently, they did not give her a rabies shot, but I was charged for it. When I confronted them about it, they said that they did not give it to her in the last appointment; they deducted it from my recheck payment, without asking me, or telling me until I approached them about it. They suggested a bunch of unnecessary tests; tests that I felt were unrelated to her illness; they did not explain what the tests were for. So far, it seems, that my pet is not in pain. It was just a minor illness, but they claimed that my pet was a very sick cat. They all seem to know how to play on your sympathies. I asked for a pill cutter, and they couldn't wait to charge me for it after I already shelled out close to $1k.

I used Fitzgeralds for years when Dr. Fitzgerald himself was there and it was excellent. When I moved back to VT a year ago I knew he was on his way out simply by how they were now operating they're practice. Simply put they're customer service now is horrible. They will add charges to your bill without asking and then, of course, expect you to pay for them on the spot. Like many veterinarians these days they push hard to up-charge the bill. We've had enough.

Fitzgerald's used to be our Vet, for about a decade. They recently performed surgery on our terrier, something that was supposed to be routine, tooth extractions. When we picked up our dog he was in clear pain. They did nothing to help us and when we informed them of this issue, they dismissed us with the statement "the pain meds should be working". I doubt he ever got them. He was up all night in pain and then the refused to see us the next day saying they were full after neglecting to follow their own protocol and set up a follow up appointment. Since then our dog has been in chronic pain and we have switched vets. More recently we have asked them to take responsibility for the Malpractice and they have neglected to do so. They clearly are more concerned about their bottom line than the health of pets.
