You know that we do not usually bother to put opinions when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...

The nursing staff was amazing, but the Vet, Dr. Sweeney, was a joke. We took my 1 year old pitbull to their animal ER due to puking, walking like he was drunk, his eyes were fidgeting, and not knowing what was going on. We assumed he ate something or that something happened because he fell off of our bed. The nurses made sure we were ok and that my dog was ok, but dr sweeney decided to say our dog had marijuana intoxication and kept pushing the issue when there is NO WAY it was even a possibility. The next assumption was that our dog had gotten into some sort of anxiety meds. The dr kept going back to marujuana intox, and we kept telling him it wasnt possible. Now i should probably mention that my husband and i are heavily tattooed and are not within the "norm" of society. Now, Dr. Sweeney may be super old fashioned, but to keep basically accusing someone of their dog getting ahold of drugs that arent present in their home, is ridiculous. I really hope it wasn't because of how we look, but even so, when someone tells you that "THAT" diagnosis isnt even possible, more than once, you should probably focus on whats actually going on with their animal and try to help them figure out whats going on with it. Other than the vet, we were very happy with the rest of the staff and how our boy was treated, and how quick they were to try to help him feel better and to get him looked at.
Why is this the only emergency vet for all of northern Utah? Veterinarians in Northern Utah have zero ethics, this clinic being the only Clinic available for emergencies for animals in Northern Utah proves that. Every veterinarian I know in other states has their work number and then a private number listed for an emergency so you can contact them. if you love your animals and you care about your animals you won't live in Northern Utah. Took my dog in there one time paid $1, 300 only to have to go to another vet to have the same procedure repeated because they couldn't do it right the first time.
I knew this would be an expensive visit being an emergency clinic but after paying $85 for the visit alone just to have the vet tell me our dog would be fine and gave a bunch of "I would only be worried if" comments. They then tried to charge me $79 for de-worker packets as a just in case preventative. After seeing my receipt I immediately went back and asked for the medication to be refunded, and bought the same medication at Walmart for $15. Two stars only because the technician and receptionist were very friendly and helpful
If you have an emergency do yourself a favor and go to Mountain West Veterinary Specialists in Layton. They are 24 hours and SO much better. So glad there is another option for emergency veterinary care in Davis County as each of my 3 experiences here were a nightmare.
I don't normally do reviews. But last night my hyper cat spilled hot wax all over himself and got burned at around midnight. I searched 24 hour vet and this place was the first place that popped up. I brought him in and they were so patient with me and my little baby. My cat is also fiesty so they were patient with that too. I also had a hard time with payment so they worked with me really well. They took such good care of him, sedated and shaved him and made sure the burn was fine and I brought him home with a cone and some medicine. They updated me while he was in surgery and everything. I noticed not everyone has a good experience here, but I had a great experience despite what happened. They were so caring. I forgot the doctor's name, but I appreciate you guys so much for taking care of my cat last minute and working with me. Thank you so much!
The staff was excellent with our cat, Fitzpatrick, and were all very kind! Time was spent to go over any options and the pricing was completely up front. Excellent experience and very clean and nice facility. I’m grateful for their help!!!!!!!
I am beyond satisfied with this ER vet. We rushed our boxer Diesel, who just had his first birthday earlier this month, in on Sunday just before noon. We had no idea he was in anaphylactic shock, but he was. All we knew is he was suddenly acting wrong. Really really wrong. The staff rushed him away as soon as we hit the doors and started him on an IV. They saved our fur babies life. I have no question in my mind of that. If it wasn’t for these angels in scrubs, he would have died that day. They told us had we waited 5 minutes he wouldn’t have made it. His heart rate was 20 beats per minute and his body was shutting down. Our baby responded so well to their treatment that we were able to bring him home the next day. My family owes so much to this vet. We will forever be great full and indebted to them for this. They think they were just doing their jobs but to us, it was so much more than that.
Man I don't know where to start, I guess first I'm surprised at some of the negative reviews on here. I'm beyond grateful these people are available on holidays and weekends. We have had a few scares with our dogs. I brought our small dog in about a year and a half ago for eating chocolate and thanks to the staff and doctors here our little one is still alive. Then one labor day we had to bring our big girl in because she ingested something that made her sick and again, thanks to the care of these people within a few hours she was home with us. Recently we were afraid we'd lose her for good when our girl was hospitalized there for a few days because she got into ibuprofen. Once again, the staff took diligent care of her and updated us every day and gave her the best care during one of the most stressful times in our life. A few months ago our old family dog passed at home and they were sympathetic and gracious when we had to bring in his body to be cremated and treated him with dignity. This place is an emergency hospital/clinic. It does cost more typically than the average vet, but pets are an investment. Money is a small issue compared to having your pet taken care of. My point is the quality of the care here we've experienced has always been the very best, they have taken care of our beloved fur babies at all stages of their life, good and bad. I can always trust they will be in good hands here.
I have been super impressed with WestVet! Our 5 month old kitty became very sick and it all came on very quickly. We brought her to WestVet in the middle of the night. She had FIP and was not going to recover. We went back in the morning to put her to rest. Dr Sweeney and his staff were professional, caring and compassionate. He made one of the hardest things we had to do more bearable. They gave us all the time we needed before and after. I wouldn't have had it done at any other place. Today we got a sympathy card from Dr Sweeney and his staff in the mail. Their sweet, personal messages were touching and comforting. You can tell they truly love animals and understand what it's like losing a cherished pet. Thank you WestVet!
I want to say, thank you so much for all of your support today, you helped me and, my family with the difficult task of having to put down Romeo! I just want to say that the professionalism of Dr. McPhea and her staff was truly impressive. Thank you all!
Worse place ever took my dog in because her her throat was swollen she couldn't breathe she can't sleep or eat and all the doctors were telling me was they think it's this or that and then that they would bet their house or $1,000 on it might be this or it might be that and to bring her back if they were wrong so don't be mad if they are so I bring my dog back but it take us in the waiting room and we're waiting for an hour and a half my dog's throat is hurting she could barely move she's drooling all over because she can't keep water down and they go ahead and they take a dog who fell out of its kennel who seemed just fine walking around happy before my dog and then they still make us wait and they're walking around just talking and joking around with each other so I just walked out on them place is a joke
I can not say enough good things about WestVet. Our 10 month old pupply was hit by a car the day after Christmas. We rushed her to WestVet. The staff was so nice and sympathetic to ours and our dogs feelings. Our dog was not stable enough to have surgery that day, so she spent the night with them. I didn't want to leave my baby, but after talking with them, I knew that they were going to take the very best care of her. The next Day Dr. Terry worked his magic. After a long surgery with screws and a plate, our puppy was fixed. When we went and checked on her, one of the staff had been with her the entire time. I knew she had been taken well care of when one of the staff members climbed in her kennel area to comfort her. After she was discharged, we visited WestVet almost weekly for follow ups and cast changes. Each time we were there the staff was always so friendly and helpful. Everyone at this clinic is amazing and I thank you all for the help you gave us with our crazy puppy! Thank you for the phone calls after surgery to check on her. Thank you for always having our dogs best interest at heart. Thank you for being so sweet and kind to us and our dog. Thank you for always taking a look at her and taking our calls when we were concerned. Thank you Dr. Terry for helping our puppy be able to be a normal dog again! Dr. Terry is not only amazing at what he does, but he is an amazing person! We love you all WESTVET and can not thank you enough!!
4 hours and $345 later and the vet says my cat either has “asthma or feline herpes. If he doesn’t eat/drink in the next 24 hours bring him back in” My cat is literally choking and swallowing hard and he gives him anti-nausea medicine, HE ISN’T THROWING UP HE IS CHOKING AS IF HE HAS A HAIRBALL OR SOMETHING THAT IS STUCK. Also when they did x-rays they only x-rayed his stomach and not his throat. Why? I have no idea. So they send him and my fiancé home. I find all of this out after they get home and I call and the lady at the front desk says “I’m sorry you were unsatisfied” and that’s all she had to say. Was not willing to help us or anything. So not only did they not help my cat, who by the way IS STILL CHOKING, they also gave us a big broad ‘diagnosis’ and charged us a lot of money for absolutely nothing. Don’t ever waste your time on this place, find somewhere who will actually care for your animal and not just the money.
Today in an extremely dire emergency situation they lied to me about whether they had rattlesnake anti-venom or not. DO NOT TRUST THEM. Do not take your dogs here.
I don’t normally write reviews but I’m so stressed out and disappointed this is my only release. We have an appointment for our puppy’s emergency surgery on Thanksgiving Day at WestVet Utah. Their staff new our dog’s name and the situation before we drove 1.5 hours in thanksgiving traffic however upon arrival they had no idea we were coming but new our dog’s name when we walked in the door. They were more concerned about a check clearing then the well being of our puppy. A horrible communication and total waste of time, I hope our dog’s leg will survive due to this event. We were told 50% upfront when we got there they wanted 90% plus no doctor is available as promised which added another night to the bill. Thank you West Vet Utah for ruining our holidays with a stress of not knowing if our daughter lab will survive. There’s two sides of a story, the bottom line is there’s only one in this case! Take your animal to somewhere else! Happy Thanksgiving WestVet Utah!
So my dog had the parvovirus it sucked that he couldn’t eat or walk after I took him in to the ER this technician with red hair she helped me out very friendly the vet her self she was very honest and helpful I couldn’t say nothing about this clinic now púa is doing fine he runs he eats and he has gained weight thank you again
We noticed that our dog was limping so we decided to take him in. After an x-ray was done it showed that he had a broken bone and surgery was necessary to fix it. She wanted to keep my dog overnight and then have $3000 surgery the next day. She told me that the overnight stay was going to be around $800.She told me after surgery the next day I could take my dog home. I asked if it would be OK if I brought my dog home with me and brought him back the next day for surgery because $800 seemed a bit steep. It’s not because I don’t love my dog because I do, but $800 for a night stay is more than I would pay on myself. She than said it would be OK for me to take my dog home and if I brought him back for surgery the next day that she would then need to keep them in observation the following night. Which didn’t make sense because she didn’t need Him to stay overnight post surgery if he was going to stay the night pre-surgery. I feel like the only thing this woman cared about was the dollar bills. I don’t know about you but $4000 is a lot of money and I wanted to second opinion. My dogs quality of life seemed to be fine so we refused the surgery and went home. Today I got a visit from animal protective services because she thought I was being cruel to my dog and needed to be checked in. The guy took one look at my pet and you could tell he had no clue why he was called. My dog is happy, healthy, and I take good care of my dogs. I will never go back to this place again. In my opinion the only thing I did wrong was care about my pet so much that I took him to this untrustworthy veterinarian. Logically speaking if I didn’t give a damn about my dog I wouldn’t have brought them in in the first place....but I do- so I did...and I will never EVER go back there again. UPDATE: I was able to find a surgeon for $2000 less then their surgeons with high reviews from my veterinarian. Just saying it’s worth looking around and finding people that aren’t going to try to screw you over. Also with no overnight stay before or after the surgery.
I only came here because it was an emergency but anyway they charged 88 dollars for an exam and car was okay. They tried to give him fluids and a pain shot, I told the doctor no and the nurse came back in and said they were about to do it. They are literally trying to get all your money. And you can’t go back with them when they check out your pet.
The staff was very kind and compassionate, and the vet was pretty good. The wait at an emergency animal care clinic is usually pretty lengthy, so we were impressed when it was less than an hour total. The visit was more expensive than I anticipated, even for an emergency clinic, but our puppy was well taken care of, and that's what matters most.
I totally understand; LETS DO RUSSIA. My son's girlfriend's dog got hit by a car. Although at first I thought the staff was very nice. They were not to quick about things and the closer it got to us leaving, the more they( the staff), seemed to act like they have to get ready for a rumble or sike themselves out. Finally, the nice little girl tells us it will be 850.00 dollars. We think we'll ok we have this much tonight and we will need make arrangements to pay the rest of the bill. She says; . Well I can't have you leave until it is paid in full!!!! WHAT? OK SO YOU EXPECT US TO STAY HERE UNTIL IT IS PAID? Yes, she says, but your dog is ok to leave! I thought for sure we were on the candid camera. They were serious. My son's girlfriend, chuckled and told her, Well you might as well get me a cot to sleep on cause we are going to be here awhile. How inhuman is that? Wow! I just had to write about it. WHAT VET DOES THAT? MOST OF THE VETERINARIAN'S THAT CARE AND LOVE ANIMALS ARE HUMAN AND HAVE A HEART. Guaranteed they sleep at night.
This clinic is truly amazing. They know what they are doing and it's worth every penny. They took incredible care of our cat during a very difficult time for us and due to their care we have seen improvement and are very happy about it. Dr Sweeney was very thorough, patient and so attentive. He has truly been amazing and I'll always keep him in my thoughts. You don't always get this kind of care and attention at a medical clinic but westvet really went above and beyond and it's clear that this is consistent to how they work. They have cards that have been sent to them from past patients thanking them in the office and I got all choked up when I was reading them! It's really a wonderful clinic where you really feel how much they care and they show it. The professionalism and knowledge are truly five stars. Highly recommend them and Dr Sweeney who is an angel. Thank you!!!
Two weeks ago we took our Yorkie, Max, into the WestVet 24 Hr Emergency Services in Sunset over Memorial Day weekend. He had a collapsed trachea. Though we had to make the decision to let Max pass away, the professional care and staff at WestVet was amazing. Professional, caring, compassionate and might I say, fairly priced and upfront about everything financial (without making us feel like it was their main priority). We had never been there before and I would drive 2 hrs to take any of my animals there for future care. Today we received a personal, handwritten card in the mail from the entire staff that worked that evening, each person writing a sweet message of condolences. Wow - they are awesome!!! Thank you to all of you. Patrick Brady
I brought my 15 year old cat in, and unfortunately he had to be put down due to a stroke. The staff and vet (Sweeney) were very empathetic and kind. They let me spend as much time with him as I wanted to before and after he was euthanized. They made my difficult, sad experience bearable and I'm very grateful for that. I definitely recommend their services.
We are moving from Atlanta, Georgia to Seaside, Oregon. We are moving all 5 of our dogs, 3 cats, and a snake in an RV. Half way through the trip one of our seniors front legs had swollen to 3 times its normal size. We called in a frenzy an hour away and westvets entire staff was so accommodating. They met us in the parking lot with a gurney and delieved the absolute best care! The next morning our sweet girl was in so much pain and we still had a 16 hour drive ahead of us. They again greeted us with a gurney and smiles. They provided the best standard of care at such an affordable price. We can not thank this amazing staff for everything they have done for our family! If your looking for a vet, this is the place!
Under new management and Dr Terry and staff we’re amazing with our Rottweiler. They were kind, gentle and thorough. They took the time to explain things to us. This is the type of facility you want taking care of your 4 legged family member.
My dog, Sherman, went in last night because he has a paralyzed larynx. They paid really good attention to him and helped him feel better, even if it is just for a little bit. I was told they wouldn’t do surgery on him for it due to his age, but that’s understandable. I’m very thankful for them helping and having him stay overnight so they could watch him. He is currently sedated in my home and we’re waiting to see what’s next. Good things I hope!
The vet and techs were great with my cat and with us. Very caring and compassionate. I'm glad they are open for emergencies!
The dirtiest unclean clinic I have ever witnessed. Blood on table. Hair from half a dozen or more animals on exam table. Too much failure to mention.
Never come here! They charge and charge and charge even though we we're here just 2 days ago and "nothing wrong" yet on 2nd visit it's clear there is an injury. Poor dog has been in pain for almost a week now and all they care about is getting more money.
Dr. Scherk, Dr. Sweeney, and all support staff, were true professionals in helping us manage end-of-life decisions and support for our dog, Chico of 14 years. Our dog received the care, dignity, and peace he deserved. We are truly thankful for WestVet and the people there who helped us and Chico in this incredibly important and difficult time in all our lives. We will never forget. Thank you all.
We had a very sick kitty "sister" and they we're very compassionate and honest about the situation. Even though we ended up having to euthanize her we were very grateful for them and the card they sent afterwards was very thoughtful
Our entire experience with Dr. Jason Arndt and the WestVet staff members we met was beyond exceptional!! We are so deeply grateful for the informative and thorough professionalism Dr. Arndt showed us. He truly did his utmost to allay our fears relative to our little Bernie's PDA surgery, and kept us informed with detailed updates both before and after the procedure. We appreciate not only the professionalism of both Dr. Arndt and the staff, but likewise the kindness and care they gave both Bernie and ourselves. We had our three-month follow-up with Dr. Arndt on February 16, 2018, and were thrilled to learn that the procedure was a complete success and that everything was working normally. Again, we cannot thank Dr. Arndt and the WestVet staff enough for making our experience so positive, both in terms of results, and of customer service.
When my furbaby of 20 years started having sieziers and i had to make the choice to put her down i was devastated. This wonderful staff was there for me the whole way from start to finish they were careing and patient and even gave me a card that was handwritten from all the staff that was amazing, no one wants to face this time with there pets but im glad i had these guys by my side. highly recommend
Please do not EVER take your animal here. My dog had a horribly swollen foot. One Sunday morning(this pathetic clinic was the only place open) she went to jump off the couch and 2 of her nails broke she started bleeding all over everything. My wife loaded her into the car and took her to this embarrassment of a animal clinic. The receptionist told my wife to “go wait in the car because they don’t want to have to clean the blood up”. So my wife waited in the car. And she waited. And she waited. And she waited. And she waited. 3 hours go by and my wife goes back in and they say sorry we are still seeing other animals(only 2 people in the waiting room) but we will be opening up some rooms soon! So my wife goes back to her car with our dog who is still bleeding. She bled through 3 towels that were on the seat and into my wife’s upholstery. My 3 year old dog who has enough energy to give every human alive is now panting uncontrollably and drifting in and out of sleep. Not to mention this is happening in the middle of the winter, so we can’t keep the car on for 3 hours. My wife keeps the car off to try and cool our dog down. But she continues to pant and wine as the white in her eyes goes red, and the brown fades dull. As I am typing this my wife is still waiting in the car. Over 3 hours later. Still yet to be seen. The dog who nibbles and plays when you pet her is now laying there after literally falling over from her sitting position as she pants and continues to bleed. When this first happened she wouldn’t let us even touch her leg to see the swelling and missing nails. Now, as she lays there panting and drifting in and out of sleep, she just cries when you touch her paw. Doesn’t move, doesn’t try to pull it away, doesn’t try to stop you. Won’t even lift her head. She just cries. I understand the blood and wanting to keep it away from other dogs for safety reasons. But if they are so poorly organized, so poorly designed and ran that they ask their patients to wait in the car because they don’t want to clean the blood.... and to make patients wait over 3 hours while their dog is literally bleeding to death... this clinic is an absolute JOKE. I can not tell you enough to PLEASE not take your animal here. For the sake of your time and pets safety, spend the extra 15-20 minutes driving to another clinic. Feel like it’s worth adding, as you can tell from other ratings, this kind of behavior is usual for them. Don’t waste your time. Seriously. Update: After close to 4 hours my wife has left this clinic and per the phone call with the clinic in Layton they said to bring our dog in immediately as she has lost enough blood for it to be life threatening. The clinic in Layton stated that the standard of care in situations like this is no longer then 30 minutes. We will be filing claims for negligence and malpractice. I can not emphasize enough. Do NOT take your animal here.
I cannot believe these folks. My boxer, our girl Bailey Bear had a TPLO surgery on her left rear knee by another Utah vet surgeon in 2017. Nothing went right! We were told the surgery would be two hours, 45 minutes later he called, said it was complete and we could pick her up anytime. When we picked her up we were dumb founded, she was still bleeding from her intravenous hole, which also was not bandaged. The bone cracked not two days later, along with the incision opening up, and her bleeding terrible. And she was always hurting. She was repair by our regular vet, great vet too! Not this year we find out her right side needs a TPLO! Our regular vet sent us to WestVet, which okay because it was not the previous surgeon. HOLY COW, here we go again, but nope. First thing noticed is the staff and assistance are great, outstanding and compassionate, to both us and our Bailey girl. Then we meet with Dr. Terry, we were dumbfounded by the professionalism and pride he took as a surgeon and vet. Explained everything in detail ( never got that last time). The surgery took around 2.5 hours, plus she was kept over night for 24 care and Love. Next afternoon, we picked her up, she was patched up very well, we were supplied a heavy duty cone and rear body harness to assist here walking. Got none of this from previous experience. We also got meds to keep her from being in pain (nothing Las time). The incision looks 110% better than the last, and the exrays show a complete better end result. I would let these people do knee surgery on ME! Outstanding! Outstanding! Thank You to all of you folks!
Outstanding service and reasonable prices, very impressed with the entire experience, thanks Dr. Dougherty and staff.
3.5 years ago, our Jack Russell, Wendy, was hit by a car. She suffered a nasty break in her leg and pelvis. She had a metal plate put in her leg (by a surgeon in Colorado) and spent 12 weeks on kennel rest, recovering. We relocated to Clinton and established care at Animal Care West. X Ray's were taken, there was minimal healing, but we were told she was good to go. Fast forward to the last year. Wendy had issues with wounds and draining at the surgery site. We were instructed to provide wound care and see how it goes. She would heal, then a few weeks later it would return. In June, despite regular wound care, her wound and drainage wouldn't heal. She was prescribed some antibiotics and we were told to continue wound care. 2 months later, her wound was significantly worsened and we were getting nowhere. We switched to Quail Pointe and were told that she clearly had an infection, most likely at the site of the metal plate. We were immediately referred to Dr. Terry, at West Vet, for a surgical consultation. Dr. Terry and staff got us in quickly and went over all of our options. Due to her still regularly using her leg, it was decided to remove the plate and allow for healing. She was scheduled and underwent surgery with no issues. At our 4 week checkup, there was some healing, but not as much as we had hoped for. It was decided to continue kennel rest for 4 more weeks. On week 6 of kennel rest, Wendy started removing her splint/bandage and getting pretty ornery. It was determined that she had refractured her leg and an amputation was necessary. Wendy is now 48 hours post amputation and already doing wonderfully. All of the staff at West Vet have gone above and beyond in regards to Wendy's care. Whether it was some extra snuggles during bandage changes or icing, switching medications to make her more comfortable, phone calls and photo updates post OP, random phone calls with questions from me, or last minute appointments because she tore off her bandaging, all of the staff were kind, considerate, and never acted rushed or inconvenienced. All costs were thoroughly explained before any procedure was done and all of my questions were answered with a smile, no matter how silly they may have been. Over the last 6 weeks and 2 surgeries performed by Dr. Terry and his West Vet Team, I was respected, well informed, and my opinion and thoughts always mattered and were taken into consideration. Everything about an Emergency and Specialty Veterinary Office is expensive and stressful, but the amazing West Vet Staff definitely makes it a little easier to handle. Our family will forever be grateful for Dr. Terry and everyone at West Vet!
Sorry that this is so long. I don't ever write reviews but when it comes to family, I need to say something. My boyfriend and I showed up here on a holiday from Logan, UT as it was the only place open. We weren't sure but had suspicions that our cat had eaten part of an easter lily. After about 20 minutes after they took our cat back, they told us they HAD to keep her 48 hours or else she could die (they were running blood and urine tests and didn't know or atleast didn't tell us what was happening to her). The doctor and nurse we talked to were very nice but wouldn't tell us explicitly how our cat was doing, just explained what lily poisoning could do and then brought us in our bill. We were looking at about $1500-$2400 depending on what tests and how much iv and other antibiotics they had to give her. Being a broke college student and also a devastated cat mother, I started crying as soon as the lady left the room when we told her that wasn't something we could do. It was at this point, we got our second "your cat could DIE if you dont let us hold her for 48 hours!" They came back with the 24 hour bill and we decided that was the best we could do after asking the nurse whether they had some sort of a payment plan and she looked at us funny and then said we could apply for a credit card that we could use but its no guarantee that we would get approved (two college students with little to no credit score? yeah right). So we sucked it up and paid the $1100 for a 24 hour stay, left in tears after they let us visit with her and prayed that she wouldn't get hurt as we received our third "its possible your cat could die!" We got 3 more calls from them giving us updates and telling us when to pick her up. During one, we asked plain and simple "is there anyway to just test if it's in her system?" to which, the nurse huffed and snapped back "uhhh...no." The last call of the morning when our doctor FINALLY actually told us how our cat was doing "completely fine and nothing seems to be wrong, she's even playing with a string in her cage but lily poisoning is VERY serious and there is a VERY high risk of kidney failure with lily poisoning and most cats do die!" prompting tears from me. All this after telling us the best option is to hold her for 48 hours, to which I finally snapped and said "we are NOT able to do that". We finally picked her up and were expecting another money grab from them. We met a very nice vet tech (I really wish I could remember her name because she is the only person worth keeping in that place) who when we asked her directly whether our cat was going to die if we didn't let her sit in their cage, she replied honestly and gave us a little head nod that reassured two scared parents more than anything. Brought in another cat and showed us how to do her iv and administer pills and told us she was the most lively cat to walk out of that place she'd ever seen. We ended up taking her to a vet in Logan the next day to get blood and urine tests done and everything seemed A-ok. I understand emergency vets cost more, that wasn't ever the problem. The problem was that we were never sure if there was actually anything wrong with her or if there was, if she would even get taken care of. It scares me to think that if she did have lily poisoning, I wasn't sure if they would let her get worse just so they could scare us into paying more money just to keep her there. Even if this is the closest vet to you and its a Sunday and a holiday, make the drive to salt lake and find another vet unless you want to know nothing about your animal and be charged anything they can get you to.
Truly amazing experience. Our Havanese had a patella subluxation that Dr. Terry performed corrective surgery and our dog did phenomenally well. Dr. Terry and his staff were very compassionate. Dr Terry explained in great detail what would be involved. Our dog doesn't have even the slightest limp and runs around with no pain whatsoever. I would strongly recommend Dr. Terry. There were cheaper options given to me by my vet but she said she has just had too good of an experience with Dr. Terry's ability as a surgeon to even consider anyone else. I would agree...
Night and day difference between here and Mountain West Veterinary where I had a terrible experience. The staff here were very kind, courteous and knowledgeable. We were very quickly triaged and greeted by Felix a veterinary technician who received a thorough history from us and asked us if he could bring our dog back instead of just taking her away (which happened at mountain west). We were then brought back to a room and Dr. White was absolutely wonderful. She checked back in with us several times during the course of our stay to update us and let us ask questions. She brought us to the back to show us and explain all x-rays and took the time to answer all questions. And before any work was done they compiled a comprehensive pre-invoice with a list of the charges to make sure we the owners were comfortable and ok with everything. At Mountain West we were unable to even speak to the attending veterinarian. The receptionist just brought our dog back and told us what would be done. I was above impressed with this facility and their quality of care and kindness of the staff. Would highly recommend to anyone.
I can't say enough amazing things about WestVet! Brought my 4 lb Chihuhua, Ty, in after hit by a car, all but dead. Dr Sweeney saved him and was so caring and spent so much timing with me, helping me understand all that was wrong. Due to his small size and the difficulty of his fractures we had to amputate his leg. Dr Terry spent almost 40 mins on the phone with me explaining all the options, he let our reg vet know what was going on, and helped us make the hard decision to amputate. Dr Terry did a phenomenal job at surgery and our little guy looks amazing. Thanks to Dr Sweeney and Dr Daniell who took such amazing care of him day and night. The entire staff is amazing. Is it expensive? yup, but everything they did was necessary and gave us the out come we got, which was the best! They kept us aware of the pricing each step of the way and I felt Ty's best interest was always the most important thing. LOVE YOU GUYS!
