REVIEWS OF Animal Emergency Center IN Utah

summer dey

I was so scared when we got here as I was waiting in the waiting room reading the reviews. Are dog got messed up really bad on Saturday by another dog and we came in around 10:30pm. We were going to risk it and wait until Monday to go to our normal vet but were really worried about our dog as we could not see the damage. We took a chance despite our worries and Dr. Sweeney saw us. He was so kind and understanding. He took his time to explain things to us, and kept us updated throughout the whole procedure. Dr. Sweeney was incredibly considerate in all aspects. The nurses were really nice, reliable, and kept us informed throughout our worrying too. Overall it was the best experience we could have asked for. We are so appreciative, thank you guys so much. - Summer, Taylor, and Ringo

Sam I am

They told me my cat was beyond fixable and that he should be put down. We found out later by a different vet that what happened to my cat was common and easily treatable. They are liars for money and don't look in enough to their patients.

Bailey Kiker

It was the worst service i have ever received taking my dog to a vet. They were rude and didn't truly care about my dog. For how much i spent taking my dog to an emergency vet i expect them to actually care about her and they didn't at all.

Sasha Lemos

These guys are absolute life savers my sisters dog was on its whit of death and they did everything to save him. Thank you !

Kody Kallas

Second time we have taken our boxers here and wasted money on a weekend just to find out we have to take our dog to there normal vet Monday. They wanted $2500 dollars to do a Sergey they weren't even sure was the problem. If at all possible avoid this place and stick with your normal vet. It's just too bad this is the only place around thats open on weekends.

Dawn McMullin

We had to euthanize our old dog as she started seizing. They were very kind and gentle. Very considerate of our needs too. Thanks.

Alessa Goldsmith

if I could give a negative star review I would. WORST place. If you have any other option i suggest you take it. They are incredibly insensitive and will find every which way to charge you. Do not go.

My experience with Animal ER was terrible. I would not recommend them to anyone. I was assisted by Dr. Andrea Howard after bringing in my pregnant dachshund. My girl had all except one of her babies just fine, but this last one was not coming out. I knew that she had one in her, she was showing no signs of distress just exhausted from hours of labor after successfully giving birth to the other 5 pups. I went in with the intention of being consulted and listened to. Neither seemed to be the direction Dr. Howard wanted to go in. She immediately tried to sell me on getting a C-section surgery on my dog. I kindly suggested we try an oxytocin shot instead. She said that should be my LAST resort, and that surgery should be my first, best, safest choice. When it should really be the other way around...surgery should be the last resort! They just wanted to make as much money as possible and used scare-tactics to try to get me to commit to a C-section. They had no compassion, did not care what I had to say, and were simply trying to make a quick buck (not to mention the TWO X-rays they tried to convince me to pay for before to confirm there was in fact only one puppy inside--I agree it was important to know, but why 2 x-rays? I questioned this and they told me if I absolutely wanted only one, then they would only do one, but again stressed that I would be making a bad decision considering that 2 would tell them a bit more--side note, ONE was definitely sufficient). Emergency care should be based on care, not money. I was willing to pay, but not willing to be up-sold and put my dog's life in further danger, not to mention the 5 puppies she is needed by. My dog received a shot of oxytocin and delivered her final pup still born. This is at no fault of the ER, just letting you know the result. One week later, she is healthy and so are her pups. If she had a C-section she would still be recovering from surgery and we would all be struggling to care for the puppies as efficiently and natural as possible. THEIR suggestion to C-SECTION is ridiculous and the results of a simple shot to push her along in labor proves it.

The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because of the wait times They are long if your pet is not in critical condition, however once you get into the exam room, these guys are really great. I took my family dog in late last night, and he ended up needing to be put down. They were extremely kind about it. They gave us all the time we wanted with him, we never felt rushed or pressured. When we were ready, they explained the process and were very sensitive and loving about it, both before and after. For an ER clinic, I'm sure they put down many animals a day, but they made it feel like ours was still important to them, and it made all the difference to my family and I.

Let me just start off by saying that the service was excellent and and everyone was so kind and compassionate. They saved my dog who was very ill when my regular vet was closed. Yes the prices are higher because they are the only after hours clinic in the northern part of Utah and they have to pay the staff to work holidays, nights and weekends. The world is set up to where people don't have to save animals lives unlike with humans when you go to the emergency room. Everything is elective in veterinary care and unfortunately there is no option for billing like there is with us at a doctors office. I by no means have lots of money but when it came down to it I had to ask family for some help to save my best friend. I did have to wait as more critical animals came in but I understood and was thankful my dog was able to walk through the door rather than have to be carried in not moving. I thank everyone who works there for sacrificing time with their loved ones to work holidays, nights and weekends to be there in case I need someone to help with my dog, Blue!

I hate the fact that this place is the only ER in northern UT. We drove down from Brigham. Our dog was having problems with having her puppies. This was the first litter I have had and thanks to them it’s the last. We were takin advantage of because we were in a panic. They wasted a lot of time trying things that the Dr didn’t want to do but the techs talked us into. We lost 5 beautiful pure breed papered puppies because they wanted to charge us for more treatments that the Dr said would work in the first place. The worst part of it all was our dog had a puppy at home and we drove 30 miles one way and they wouldn’t let us stay there and wait for our dog to get out. We had to take a puppy that was only a few hours old out in the cold December night because they wouldn’t keep the puppy with mom. However I’m thankful for them being open 24 hrs. Next time I’m going to go anywere else. The bed side manner of all the staff was horrible. Even the feeling we had just being there was horrible. I wouldn’t go here again and don’t suggest it to anyone.

Needed to visit the ER with my sick puppy. Doctor was pleasant, knowledgeable, and professional. She listened to my concerns and my dogs medical history. Made suggestions for treatment but was also reasonable and sensitive to financial considerations. I think the only minor issue was it seemed to take a considerably long time. Having said that, I realize that it is an emergency clinic and thus they need to triage patients in order of importance. So there's that....

Brandon Stone

They took very good care of my pup

Lisa Palazzolo

It's a difficult situation to be in when you need an emergency vet. It leaves you with out options and often willing to pay way more than usual. The cost seems high, but they are an ER I've been there 3 times for 3 different cats. They did give me a price breakdown before treatment and an idea what we could eliminate if needed. I've seen Dr. Sweeney each time. The vet techs are a little on the sketchy side. One gal looked/acted like a real tweaker. The other front desk staff are very nice.

Brian Kite

I have been here for 3 hours. Sitting in a room waiting to see a Vet. Absolutely ridiculous! Go to SLC. These guys suck! Still waiting. 4 hours now

I wish I could give this clinic 5 negative stars. We took our cat in for making weird coughing noises. The took our pet to be examined without us being there which set off red flags for me. Then the vet comes back with four scenarios three of which are life ending. Then suggests $495 of diagnostics none of which would provide relief for our kitty. I then said, that if the tests proved that she would have to be put down, I would rather have our vet do it. Then had to ask about getting some antibiotics and fluids to tie her over until the next morning. I assume they gave her the $75 worth of an antibiotic shot and the fluids as I was not there to witness it. I took our kitty to our vet the next morning and she had something caught in her throat. Our vet did the surgery to remove it including the x-rays for $500. These people in my humble opinion are preying upon the concern we have for our pets. Unless your pet is bleeding out you are better to wait until you can see your regular vet. Horrible, Horrible Horrible scammers.

We can’t thank them enough for the care they gave our 9 month old puppy. He got bit by another dog and we got there round 12am in the morning they acted promptly and professional.. yet so loving and kind to us and our puppy. They did an excellent job.

ATTR Fleet Services

I called them around 6:45pm, to talk to them about what I needed to do with my dog. They told me that if I got there before 9 pm the price would be $30 for the office visit, and $50 for the shot that she would need. I got there about 10-15 minutes later and when I walked in they told me it was going to be at least $40 bucks more. Stated that the person I talked to was an employee and that she doesn't know the prices, although the girl that answered the phone put me on hold and then got back on to tell me the prices. When I got there the girl was miraculously not there anymore to contest or confirm what she has told me. They also refused to let me go back with my dog, and when they brought her back to me she is all drugged up and acting weird. I don't feel that they should be telling people one price on the phone, then jack the price up once you are there in person at the office. I also don't like the fact that they refuse to let you go back with your pet when all they are suppose to be doing is an exam and a shot! Be careful if you choose to go to this office and have them treat your pets!!! I would stay away if I were you!

Alexis Shupe

I hate giving three stars because I really liked the veterinarian. She was very helpful and gave us what we needed and listened to our concerns. The wait was over an hour but that's expected at a walk in er. The first girl who checked us in was great. After our puppy was checked they wanted to give her a shot for pain and nausea. The doctor had her technician come in and give it. She warned us that our dog would yelp because it stings really bad. Our dog obviously yelped and tried jumping off the table. After she finished the shot she said to us 'wow that dog needs puppy training, she shouldn't act like that'. I was super pissed and offended. I wanted to tell her she needed to go to technician training because she shouldn't act like that!! She shouldn't be working with people and saying things like that to people with sick pets. I won't be going back just to avoid ignorant people like her.

Ended up going here because our female boarder collie had an issue with her having a hard time walking without falling. She recently was put on insulin two days prior at another veterinary in Layton. We came inside, everything was okay. They got her weight, and gave us a waiting room. They ended up taking her back to test her blood. The veterinary was extremely odd. He came back insisting that our dog had a brain tumor, and that her quality of life was going to be poor, so we should put her down. My mom was so upset that she started puking in the sink. I felt like something was wrong, so i told my mom to get a second opinion. They injected our dog with a tranquilizer, and i can honestly say that she left way worse than she was when she was brought in: walking into walls, tail between her legs, and traumatized. My mom ended up taking her in the morning to Mountain West Veterinary specialist in Layton, and they took our border collie and hospitalized her over night. They ended up lowering her insulin injection from 11 to 7, and putting her on motion sickness pills. Now, she walks fine, barks in the backyard, and her eyes stay straight. What's the point of this story? You'll pay a lot at this veterinary, and they may suggest to put your dog down(your family member) when they could just need a different type of treatment. We still have our Cocoa because we went somewhere else that actually cares. UPDATE: January 18th, 2019. Cocoa is still running in the backyard, barking at the neighbors, sleeping next to my mom, and waiting for her tummy rubs when i get home. Be very weary of this place! I'm extremely grateful that we got a second opinion.

Lacee Armstrong

Would give less stars if possible. Customer service is awful and act put out when doing anything. No one seems to know what's going on and all they care about it money from her moment you walk in. Nothing is about the well being of your pet but how much money they can get out of you! No sympathy from anyone just want to get your money and get you out the door. If it's not 110% emergency I'd never take my animals here again!

When I walked in, there was 1 man with his pup waiting...I was in the waiting lobby area for maybe 15 min...not bad I'm thinking....then they moved us to a room to wait for the vet doctor person...... I waited over an hour and couldn't wait anymore, I had to be to work. Not sure why I thought it would be a fairly quick visit. I was there only 45 min after they opened on a Saturday. Decided not to go back. Maybe understaffed? Wish I could write more about the vet doctor person, but they had me waiting there too long to stick around and find out.

oliver hoopes

The amount of knowledge and love this whole office has is incredible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Shawn Price

Long wait times. And weird hours. But great results.

Trevor Ricks

Record everything. Only go in if your dog is in need of medical attention and another vet is not open.

Cassidy Webb

Our pup was severely attacked, took him there and while we waited 6hrs and had to go back 5hrs later to pick him up it was good service. They offered us plenty of treatment options went over every single charge, what each step entailed, what to look for while he was healing etc. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. - 1 star for extreme wait time (3.5hrs before our pup was taken back)

Skyler

I called prior to going into the ER and was not able to have a doctor contact me at ANY time in the evening. I consider this to be lame professionalism. Timothy Elkins, I even have the money and the means to save my animals life and they won't help.

Sunshine Spencer

Dr. Swenny and the team are simply amazing. Saved my fur baby! Made sure I understood everything, made my fur baby comfortable all night! It was expensive but it is an ER NOT A VET! I hopefully don't have to ever be scared to lose a fur baby again, but if it does happen Dr. Swenny and his team are the ones I'm going to!!

Nicole Tippets

If I could give negative stars I would!!!! Took our puppy there last week due to a dog attack. We knew one leg had to be amputated and we were prepared to do that. Spent 3.5 hours there!! Drove all the way back down to north salt lake and the vet calls saying you have to come back up here, we have to put them down he has 2 broken legs.. we paid over $500 to keep him there overnight.. WHY DIDNT THEVRT DO A FULL BODY EXAM WHILE WE WERE THERE?!?!? That would have saved us time, money, and our puppy’s suffering!!! They wanted up to pay another $100 to put him down!!! Absolutely horrible!! Take your babies to cottonwood or vca!!

I feel like you people that are giving a bad review should know the facts about an animal ER. To the people that have their pet 'taken to the back'. This happens because: first, they are short staffed and super busy, just because you don't see a lot of activity in the front, they are dealing with a whole lot of things at the same time in the back. That does not mean your pet doesn't get the best it deserves, it means you don't get people. Your pet gets all the people they need. Another example the chocolate eater - when ingesting toxins the first thing the staff need to do is to get it out of the system before it becomes an issue. To do this an injection is needed and a few minutes to wait for it cause the intended reaction. What kind of professionals would they be if they sat with you talking instead of getting to the task at hand? And there are always cases that are critical and they need to start working on your pet immediately. Having an owner there is counterproductive in those situations as it is hard not to react to things when your pet is struggling. Not to mention how hard it is to keep focus on a critically ill patient when they are worried about you. They care about you, but their priority is on the safety and wellness of the pet as it should be. When you go rushing to the back to 'save' your pet because you heard them yelp, guess what that does? It makes the animal even more anxious. If they need to get an IV catheter in your pet and he/she objects to it by vocalizing, what is more important? Your need to be by them or quick access to a vein so that you can be with your pet. And to the woman that said they made darn sure the credit card was good first. The reason this is done is they don't want to ask you for your credit card while you are crying and mourning your loss. It's easier on YOU to get it taken care of first. To the people that say veterinary staff are not compassionate and they don't care about animals, do you have ANY idea what veterinary staff has to go through on a daily basis? Do you have any idea how many people come in and yell at them that they can't do payment plans? This happens all day/night long in most clinics. Would you like to be the one to decide who gets help and who doesn't? The reason that it is not offered is this: most clinics do not have the staff or means to start up collections on all of the accounts that owe them money - it's a full time job. Most clinics offer to put through an application for CareCredit, it is a credit card for the sole purpose of getting your pet taken care of without putting up a large amount of money right then and there. That staff is staying up all night long, most of the time with no break, very little time to eat/drink, all the while seeing much sadness. MUCH sadness. Do they get paid a lot of money? Not even close. There are no insurance companies backing veterinary clinics that will pay for those that cannot afford service like in human hospitals. Everything is out of pocket from the doctors and/or owners. Do they make a profit? Of course they do, it is a business. But it's not as much as the general public thinks it is. All the while paying elevated school loans. Do most vet clinics wish they could offer free service to those in need? YES! That would be a fantastic world to live in, but it is not reality. Hopefully some day it will be. Sure you can rate the 'human' experience as less than desirable at some places during 'some' times, but that is not to say that your pet is not getting fantastic care. Are there places that aren't as good as others? Yes, absolutely, just like in human medicine. Ultimately it is up to you to decide after you look at all the facts. Did your pet get medical attention, did the staff recommend further treatment if needed, did your pet go home on medicine, etc. I do not have an affiliation with this clinic other than the fact I have seen the treatment area, listened to intelligent conversations and overhead some nurturing by the technical staff.

I think that everyone working here is professional and compassionate they care for your pet your friend your family member as if they were there own I couldn't say enough good about them and the amazing things they do.

kylee ingram

I would not take any animal here !! They told me my dog was gonna die, not worth wasting my money on. They decided to keep her the night, 700 dollars later, and a list of nothing but bad, she at least made it out alive but I refuse to ever take another animal there again. In fact I'm headed to the AVC animal hospital in SLC as i write this with my same pup, worth the 45 minute drive for me to get good care !

MG Connell

My senior dog had a stroke and I didn't want to see him suffer and wanted him to be gently put to sleep. It was the weekend so I went here. They separated us and I heard him cry loudly and went to go in where he was and they physically prevented me and told me it wasn't him. I KNOW it was! Before even taking him they made sure my credit card was good and in the mean time waiting for approval treated us like we were dirt. I'm sure I smelled of dog feces because I had been lying with my dog hugging him for two days prior and I didn't bother to shower before I went because I just wanted to be with him. It was the worst experience ever! I could go on but the memories upsets me so much and it's been over 5 yrs. My opinion, lacking in compassion and money 1st priority not the pet and not you. Wait to see a regular vet if at all possible on weekday.

brittany Everton

Would give them fewer stars if i could. They are the worst place to take your pets. They will lie to your face and charge you insane amounts for something my usual vet would do for a fraction of the cost. DO NOT GO HERE!

In the early hours of the morning, my elderly German Shepherd, Mina, developed a sudden case of bloat. Her stomach had twisted itself and blood was being cut off to her gut. I was so thankful Animal ER was open at 3am to quickly stablilize Mina and relieve her pain which gave us precious minutes to say our final goodbyes before having to put her down. At almost 15 years old, she wouldn't have survived surgery, much less recovery. The doctor and staff were so compassionate, kind, and sensitive to the crisis we were going through. I'll always be forever thankful for their help and support.

Taylour Wingert

This place is great. Super friendly, honest and caring staff. Treated my pet with great care and answered all of my questions thoroughly. Thanks for putting my mind at ease!! You guys are great :)

Tori C.

Our little kitty Peter became very ill after being neutered one night. I immediately ran him here when he started seizing. Even though they were unable to save his life, they were extremely compassionate and kind in helping us say goodbye properly and doing anything they could to help. They did everything they could to save him, but his body just gave up. I would highly recommend them. Thank you guys for helping me during that difficult moment!

Kirk Ketchum

This sucks, I took my dog to these guys almost two years ago, they wanted to put him down, because he is diabetic and he was to far gone, well he has done fantastic, until now, now there is something wrong with him, and I'm sitting here writing this review, debating if I really want to take him here, I already know what their going to do, their going to jack up 1000.00 bill, then suggest putting him down! Even my own Vet, tells me how they are, so what do I do, let my dog suffer until morning and hope he can hold on until morning, or take him into these jackasses!!

Travis Judd

The Vet's, Tech's, and the entire team does an amazing job! They kept our little Yorkie alive after going into Anaphylaxis shock from a sting. (twice in five weeks, and our Maltese a couple of years ago) Yes they are expensive, but you have a team of professionals waiting to give your fur babies the best care, during hours when your normal Vet is not available... They are incredibly professional and the Vet's are experienced at what they do. THANK YOU for the great care we receive!!!

Zack Bjerregaard

Dr. Curry and Dr. Sweeney have been great every time we've been in. They and the rest of the staff seem to genuinely care for our animals. Definitely recommend for pet emergencies. Only downside is the high cost of everything. However, they always make sure you know the price of things before they perform any procedures.

Mckenzie Howells

I would highly not recommend this vet/urgent care to ANYONE. We brought our miniature schnauzer in because she had collapsed and was having a difficult time walking and gaining strength in her back legs. We walked in and got taken back to the room fairly fast and we had a very sweet and nurturing aid that came in and took our pups vitals and did just a minor inspection (our dog has anxiety with people she has never met before and was greeted very kindly and was fond of her). But after she had left the room Dr. Sweeney came in and began to speak really fast and was asking us a lot of questions and refused to listen to our full answers. Our dog has arthritis and once I had said that he had snapped at us and refused to consider that into the "possible diagnosis". And our sweet pup is almost 11 years old and not fixed which we have NEVER had issues with before and as soon as we had stated she was not fixed, he immediately began to say that she was : Pregnant, was in false pregnancy, had an ovary infection, and the possibility of a UTI. My boyfriend had asked if she was in menopause or if dogs even have menopause and his response was "I'm not sure, I will have to google that one." WTF. He then started to say he wanted to do an ultra sound, blood work, cat scan and wanted to spay her that night. None of those has anything to do with why we were there. He then stated that she had a tumor after I had snapped for the second time and implied that we put her down because of her age. He stated that she had pain in her front legs, not her back which you could clearly see the back were the ones bothering her, and when he was putting her on the ground from the table, he dropped her like it was nothing and she collapsed and then began to show more of a struggle when walking. All he cared about was running his tab. We ended up leaving with absolutely no information and two prescriptions that we had no idea were and how to give them to our pup. The next day she had no appetite, couldn't even stand and was unresponsive, so we paid the clinic $200 to make our dog 10X worse then when she went in. It not worth the money nor the time. It feels as if they are treating your pet as a trial experiment.

Amelia Matthews

We took our dog in on a Saturday. She was fixed and had a mass removed from her elbow the day before. Her foot was swollen and when we removed the bandage there was blood. We went in to the ER wanting to get it looked at and re-bandaged and possibly get stitched or stapled. We were greeted by a vet tech that wanted to get our dogs weight. We tried. Multiple times. We had been at our vet the day before and asked if they could just take that weight. They really wanted their own weight on the scale because "it could different." One or two pound difference? Sure? 10 pounds? Please, lady. After seeing the vet, they were going to take our dog back and get her stapled so they wanted her weight again. So we tried again, and again, and again. The vet tech did NOTHING to help. Instead, she made my husband wrestle with our dog to get her on the scale, while she watched and made sounds to get our dog on the scale. Which in turn, made our dogs elbow (which is why we came in in the first place!) get even worse because she was fighting it. AND it upped our cost because they had to put in more staples. She was extremely unprofessional and very disappointing to our entire visit to this facility. After our dog was out from getting her wound stapled where it had come apart, our dog was more drugged than she was coming out of surgery. I wouldn't doubt that our dog was given more medicine than she actually needed. We were truly concerned about whether or not she was breathing, she was so out of it. Will NOT be returning.

David Nelson

Took our dog in there last night after she had gotten into a box of chocolate. First off I will say the service was just ok not great. They took our dog right from the moment we walked in the door and for that we paid $80. We were not allowed to go back with her. Then they came and said they had induced vomiting, another $55 dollar charge. All this time we had not even been allowed near our dog. Then the doctor came and showed us a bowl of what she had vomitted and left about 5 min later the nurse came in and saI'd we needed a blood panel iv fluids and overnight hospitalization of our dog at a cost of almost $600. When we told then that was too much she said if we didn't leave our dog with then it would save us a little money. When it was all said and done it still cost us $300 and we didn't get to see our dog till after we agreed to the $300 price. Seems a bit shady to me. If you have no where else to go then go here otherwise go somewhere else or wait till you can see your regular vet.

Courtney M

I have visited the ER two times within the last two years. Each time I have had a great experience. They are always friendly in the office as well as on the phone. I have never been charged an amount without being informed. They always ask my consent on every step of the process and never preform any treatment that isn’t necessary. Dr. Sweeney is amazing! Always fast friendly treatment. I truly believe the people who work here are there because they love animals. Happy to have a place like this close to home.

Chris Graves

I simply cannot express how incredible the staff and vets are! My dog was sick, and Banfield couldn't find the problem - they did. She was about 48 hour away from starving to death, and they put together a plan that saved my dog's life. 2 months afterward, (feeling better) my dog was lost. They helped me find her again! Dedicated staff who won't sell you bullshit to make you feel better, just the truth. I absolutely recommend them!!

aspen Dorociak

Will never be going back here . I'll be going to Layton instead. They took his vitals and said he was stable enough to wait (even though he was losing a good amount of blood) I get it they were busy but it took 2 and a half hours to be put in a room, another hour and a half for the vet to come in. Then they took him back, then took 2 hours for them to just look at his jaw and tell us it was broke (no x-ray, just look) to give him a pain shot and patch. Then told us they couldn't do anything cause they didnt have a surgeon in to fix it. Quite irritated. They did have his pain under control and I do appreciate that and that's why I'll give 2 stars instead of 1

Carson Morby

The people here weren't really all that friendly. They seemed like all they wanted to do was put my dog out even though she just had a piece of a weed stuck in her ear. The prices are also way too high. The wait was way too long as well.

Tyson Glover

Worst place ever. They will gouge you of every single penny they can for even the most minor of things. Forced to pay 800 bucks upfront for 2 simple stitching and cleaning jobs. Came here once for an emergency and wont ever come back again after the way the staff seemed like they only cared about money and not the life of your pet at all. Also be prepared to wait an insane amount of time. We brought in our dog for a simple re-stitching right at 6 when they opened and 12 hours later and 4 phone call check ups all they keep saying is " She has been prepped and is ready but has not been seen to yet, probably going to be a few more hours". Worst place I have ever been to.

stacy Ames

I can't thank them enough for every thing they have done for us. Every thing from our small dog getting bit by another dog, to what we thought were seizures in our other dog. Every time we've had an emergency, they alerted our regular vet for a follow-up. Our vet has always called after checking on the ER visit. I've never experienced anything but love and care for our pets here. My personal feelings, if you've had a bad visit, it was probably you, not them.

Jeff Corbin

Graham Parkinson

The vet and his staff were professional and friendly. I was a little apprehensive about bringing my dog in after reading the reviews, but his team exceeded my expectations and I would have no problem coming back. Expect a longer wait time as is typical of an ER.

My huskies got into a fight over some food and one ended up with a deep laceration on her lip. It was sunday around 8PM. They were very up front that it was $70 to be seen and $90 if after 9 PM on the phone. We were taken back right away. The vet Dr. Sweeny was in to see us within 5 mins. He was amazing. Straight to the point and gave me different options (leaving it alone, sutures or staples). He was honest and suggested going with staples, which avoided a surgery fee. They give you a quote of how much the procedure will cost, I was pleasantly surprised of a $160 quote which was including the office visit. As soon as I signed to go forward with the procedure, my dog was taken back immediately. My total bill was $190 because my crazy dog needed extra sedation. I can't say enough about the service of this place. The vet techs are extremely nice and caring. They are quick and honest. I was in and out in about hour and half. If you are in unfortunate situation with a pet, this is a place to go. I live in Salt lake, def worth the trip. I can't thank them enough.

Colton S

Seriously thee worst. The doctor told me my dog would die if I didn’t fork out the money to pay for an expensive treatment. I will never go back. It literally is a place of scamming. The doctor is rotten

Lewis Russell

Loved the eye center for dogs. Doc. Was really good with my dog.

I am never bringing any of my animals to this ER. EVER. I had found an injured, lost dog on my way home from work and after about half an hour of coaxing, I finally got her to get in my car. I was calling every place I could think of and everywhere else was closed. I finally just called them (being the only place opened and all) to see if they could find a microchip. When I called them, I explained the situation and the first thing they said was "Well you can bring her in to be euthanized if you want." I was seriously stunned. She had a few cuts on her legs that were making her limp but she was perfectly fine!! And she wasn't even my dog? That was the first problem. Secondly, when I went in, it literally took 15 minutes for someone to even look at me. The people in line in front of me were casual talking to the vet tech about colleges for around five minutes. They even helped someone who came in after me just because they knew her. And they didn't even have a problem, they were just picking up prescriptions. I decided to go bring the poor dog in while I was waiting and then it took another ten minutes for someone to come talk to me. So their customer service was terrible. It's good I didn't have a serious emergency! They didn't even seem to care. Thirdly, when they couldn't find a chip, they started telling me about her legs and what could've happened and what's wrong. As soon as I mentioning that I didn't have much money to do anything for her, the tech shut down emotionally, stopped talking and said acted like she no longer cared about the dog at all. When j started to ask for tips of what I could do to help her wounds at all, all she said was that I'd just have to keep her "sound and alive" until Monday when I could take her in to see who licensed her. She took my name and number down and when I went to leave I said "thank you, bye!" And I didn't even get a response. I wasn't once rude, whatsoever. All-in-all, the whole experience was a joke. I have my own animals and I would NEVER take them to this place. If there ever was an emergency I would try every other option I could before taking them here. Maybe not even then.

Jenn Kilstrom

Dr. Sweeney was wonderful and very thorough with our cat on a Saturday afternoon. Spent 2 1/2 hours running tests, explaining issues to us thoroughly, etc. We appreciated his work and concern. He has great "bedside" manner. Thank you!

Kara Martin

I have put this review off for far to long. I am sorry that others had bad experiences here but I also feel that their poor ratings may be due to a loss or financial hardship they found themselves in when attending this practice. Greif and anger can make us feel terribly towards those who don't deserve it. Here is why I feel this way. I have been to this facility three times in the past 10 years. Each time I've gone was because I really had no other choice. Once was with our beloved cat (indoor/outdoor) who was only 7 years old that came down with sudden weakness and inability to even get up off the ground one Saturday evening. My vet was closed so I picked him up and rushed his to this vet, which was newly open at the time. I was lucky we finally had such a facility or I would have watched my cat die that weekend. I was a younger person with little children and it was a hard learning experience for us but it turned out our little guy had an infection, and it was everywhere inside of his body. The vet was so kind to us as was the staff. They X-rayed our guy and showed me everything they saw and were completely truthful with me the entire visit. We had to put him down right then. Later, a freshly born kitten turned up in our garden, no idea where it came from. A weekend again I went over the vet to ask their advice. They told me they would euthanize and I later found out that it's just the way it is with all vets. They then offered to show me how to bottle and tube feed, enema the little guy if I wanted to take him home and give it a shot. They spent a couple hours with me and gave me a ton of supplies to work with this little kitten who is still alive today! 5 years later. Now I come to my most recent visit. My 14 year old dog suddenly started acting odd on a Friday. Saturday it was worse so I called my vet and they were closing up for the day, thinking I could just watch him a day or two I made an apt to take him in on Monday but the next day, Sunday (and Easter) he couldn't get and it was obvious something was wrong with his vision. He was slightly dragging himself and couldn't handle being touched. We rushed to the ER vet and they examined him and initially the same vet I'd met 3 times before had an idea as to what was wrong. He did a neurological exam and my poor little guy was unresponsive. Neurologically something was very wrong. He had either hurt his spine (doubtful, he sat around with me or under my bad all day and night except to eat and pee) or had something growing that was just starting to show itself. The only options were and MRI and surgery if that was even the problem. They even referred us to a vet in Salt Lake that would do an MRI and rush him into surgery if necessary, on the spot. At 14, and the problems I saw my little guy having, it was not something I was willing to put him through nor something I could go through. I took FOREVER making this decision and had my husband meet me immediately. They let me stay in the room with my Henry as long as I needed and never once rushed me or pushed my decisions. Once my decision was made the doctor was so consoling. I held my guy as he slipped away. The only pet I've ever had to painfully let go and this staff at this facility aided me the entire time in every option possible for me. Its not a frilly place. The staff is there to help at the moment, just like a human ER. Not to give you a false hope and set up a treatment plan. That's for you and your family vet to do. I am greatful for this facility and their staff and am glad to know their there if ever needed.

We brought in a stray juvenile cat that was hit and run over but didn't die immediately. We took it in just because we didn't want it to suffer until it died. This team took her in, stabilized her, kept her over a weekend and gave her to Animal Control to adopt out! So professional and caring, the doctor even chatted with us qbout her condition and prognosis despite knowing she was not our cat.

Rosie Hagen

The staff is very professional. They saved my dogs life. I had very little money. They are kind souls and worked on my mama dog with babies. I can't thank them enough . They are in the right spot where God needs them.

Mandy Doman

We received prompt attention that saved my dog's life. Dr. Curry immediately recognized the early signs of bloat (gastric dialation and volvulus) upon her thorough physical examination. After carefully explaining the X-Ray and answering my questions, she sprang into action and rushed him into surgery. We are grateful for her care and expertise as well as the genuine concern shown to me by the entire staff during those frightening hours of waiting. What I can say is that I believe everyone at the ER will act in the best interest of your pet.

Courtney Kendall

The staff seem prepared and well informed. They took care of my babies quickly and safely. The prices are fair, too. I do wish more vets worked there so that the ER was more fully staffed and able to function even better.

Cameron Knight

I dont understand how these people sleep at night. 740 dollars to put my dog down. They pray off of peoples emotional stress when lossing a family member.

Andy Morelli

This place is a complete scam. Read the low star reviews and that is about what you should expect from them. If your fur baby is able to survive, hold off until you can see your regular vet and do NOT go to these guys.

Braeden Rehmer

4 hours and $345 later and the vet says my cat either has “asthma or feline herpes. If he doesn’t eat/drink in the next 24 hours bring him back in” My cat is literally choking and swallowing hard and he gives him anti-nausea medicine, HE ISN’T THROWING UP HE IS CHOKING AS IF HE HAS A HAIRBALL OR SOMETHING THAT IS STUCK. Also when they did x-rays they only x-rayed his stomach and not his throat. Why? I have no idea. So they send him and my fiancé home. I find all of this out after they get home and I call and the lady at the front desk says “I’m sorry you were unsatisfied” and that’s all she had to say. Was not willing to help us or anything. So not only did they not help my cat, who by the way IS STILL CHOKING, they also gave us a big broad ‘diagnosis’ and charged us a lot of money for absolutely nothing. Don’t ever waste your time on this place, find somewhere who will actually care for your animal and not just the money.

Michael Callahan

My dog had ate something toxic to her and we went here to get her some help. All it was to them is money money money. They gave me the option of paying 2,000 that night before they started to treat her or put her down. I dont know who has 2,000 laying around so we had to put her down and she was only six months old. They made us pay close to 400 and they didnt do anything for her. I would strongly advise not to take any of your pets here.

Malik Maravilla

If I could give 0 stars I would. My 6 month old pup had an accident and fractured his rear right femur clean in half and they took over 8 HOURS to even get him in a room for the evaluation over some dogs that had a cold! Then they proceeded to raise the price of the procedure each time we asked for a quote. It started out as $2000-$2500 and then they told us it would be $2500-$3500 and then the final price would be $3700-$4800. All we got done was the x-ray and they charged us $675 dollars for that and a fentanyl patch for pain that they wrapped so tightly that he couldn't walk on his strong leg where the patch was located. They also tried to get us to pay an extra $1500 to have them keep him until Tuesday because the earliest time they could get him in for surgery would have been Tuesday morning. So they were going to make my boy suffer for 3 days with a broken leg before they ever did anything to help him. I told them that they are just in it for the money and they dont care about animals whatsoever. I strongly urge you to never EVER come here if you care about your pet more than a worthless pebble in the street. Find a local family veterinarian and they will do any procedure you need for 1/3 to 1/2 the price that these guys will. I cant believe how they treated my little family member. They made him lay on a single towel on the hard floor with a broken leg and left us sitting there waiting for hours it's ridiculous. Long story short these are terrible people. More of a animal processing plant than an emergency vet.

So my dog ate 3.7 pounds of delicious chocolate chunk brownies. We're not talking fluffy morsels of goodness, I'm talking heavy rich chunks of toxic cocoa. This happened at about 9PM on a Sabbath Sunday evening so I knew that my vet options were limited to extract the brownies. Luckily this godsend of a location is open. I called ahead and let them know what happened and that I was on my way. Upon arrival there was a line, but they got my pup back first because he was obviously in a bit more of deep water than a Yorkie with anal gland issues. They let me know cost, which was higher because of it being after hours, but you know what? I didn't care, maybe I shouldn't of let my dog eat an entire tray of brownies on a Sunday afternoon. I find it pretty ridiculous people giving bad reviews because of price. This is an after hours vet so I expected a premium price. I just wanted the dog to be ok. They also let me know how much the shot to make him vomit was. Again, didn't care. They got me back in a room to wait while my sweet pup was hurling his guts out, and were even kind enough to show me the finished product of all the brownies from his system in a puke bowl. They let me know of some treatment options that were only a precaution but weren't necessary in my circumstance so I declined them honoring their advice. I paid up, yep you have to pay right there, no payment plans, not a crazy concept, and me and my furry little guy went on our merry way. They were great. Yes, I'll still go to my regular vet for the routine stuff, but if brownies ever come in the picture again I would have no hesitation coming here.

Carlos Mendez

I showed up 30 minutes early, they allowed us to come in & get in a room. Dr. Morrisey was so sweet & understanding of how much my puppy means to me. I trust her opinion 100%. She didn't belittle any worry I had & explained absolutely every test that was being done & what we needed to do to care for her at home. Definitely recommend this animal emergency room.

I have never been so Disrespected in my life. While serving overseas in Afghanistan my wife brought my dying Rottweiler to this clinic. She was in a state of panic. Scared that our dog will not make it. The vet made random recommendations trying to keep my wife there as long as possible while they called the cops. According to the cop reports they claimed that she was on bath salts. Myself and my wife are very productive citizens of society and have never done such a thing. They charged my wife $85 to see my dog and claimed there was nothing wrong with him. We went to a vet the next day who found a infected tick on his neck. Currently we are working going to court for this but I beg of everyone please do not go to this clinic. I have recorded phone calls anyone please message me if you want to listen to the recorded phone calls and see how they treat their customers. I am also in the works of reporting them to the BBC. The worst customer service I’ve ever seen. I do not expect to have the cops called on me while taking my dog to be treated by the same company that called the cops. I also have pictures of my dog if anyone would like to see them as well.

Very impressed with the staff and level of service we received at Animal ER, especially Dr. Curry. Our cat was diagnosed with diabetes and was tanking fast. Our regular vet sent us to Animal ER for overnight care since he required constant monitoring. Since his glucose wasn't getting any lower with insulin Dr.Curry then sent us to AVC in Salt Lake for more specialized treatment, including an ultrasound. She said she wasn't qualified to read an ultrasound but felt that one was needed to see if there was fluid in my cat's abdomen. When AVC did the ultrasound they spotted the problem immediately and he is now on a course of therapy that is more promising than what we were seeing before. If it hadn't been for Dr. Curry and her staff recommending the ultrasound I feel we would still be spinning our wheels on the course of action for treatment. A lot of negative reviews focus on the cost of this type of veterinary care but you need to realize that it is specialized. I feel this was worth every penny.

H AD

They did an amazing job. Very nice staff, still very expensive...They should include basic cremation in the price and not ask if you want to take body back home with you....Sadly we had to put Kitten down..

Jenny Walters

Love having a place to take our pets after -hours in case of an emergency! Very friendly and professional!

Cassandra Angell

OUTRAGEOUS PRICES, BAD PRACTICES , RUDE STAFF. we went to see about a minor cut to our small dog they charged 80 dollars for them to tell us to do a procedure that she didn't need and I took a year in vet school to know that and I've been down this road before they wanted to put her under anesthetic and stich it u p (anesthetic is for extreme emergencys due to the extreme health issues for dogs) then charge us 500 dollars for a procedure that normally costs 150-200 you get twice the service at mcdonalds

Anna Ybarra

PADDED THE BILL WITH EXPENSIVE AND UNNECESSARY SERVICES. We took our dog here in in 2015 for a 1 and half inch cut on her head that we were unsure how she got. They charged $70 just to visually inspect it and tell us she had a cut on her head (duh, we know that). Then $50 to shave around the cut and clean it off. Then they brought us a proposed bill that included putting our dog UNDER ANASTHESIA and implanting a drain and stitching it closed with a shot of antibiotics, a bag of pain pills, a weeks worth of antibiotics for almost $700!! We told them we would take her to our regular vet in the morning and we were not paying for all that -- they brought us another bill for just the shots and pills and looking at it and cutting her hair down for over $200. We asked if the antibiotic shot was necessary because she was already getting antibiotic pills and they said no, we just had to give her a pill that day instead of starting the next day because it would be the same as getting the shot! The shot they were trying to do was $50! We took her to our vet the next morning and they said she DIDN'T EVEN NEED ANY STITCHES!!!!!! We just needed to clean it and do warm compresses! The Animal ER was going to put her under and put in a drain and stitch it and give her all this pain meds when she didn't need ANYTHING EXCEPT ANTIBIOTICS. We should have just waited until morning and gone straight to our vet instead of wasting our time and $200 at the animal e.r.

Erica Goulden

They took great care of my cat when we brought him in with suspected poisoning. They told me exactly what they were going to do, told me how much it would be, and were wonderful at keeping me updated. I left him there for a few hours before picking him up in the morning to take him to our normal vet. They were so sweet when I called once an hour to check up on him. The vet, I'm unsure of her name, but a younger woman, was absolutely amazing. It is expensive, and they do make you pay for services while you are there. That's the reality of going to an emergency vet. I'm very happy they are there and will gladly pay the extra money to be able to have somewhere available to take my babies in the event of an emergency.

T H

Took my dog in about a month ago with symptoms of unusual lethargy and lack of energy (he is usually very energetic). After waiting for about an hour, he lost control of his bladder (also not usual) and, despite my panic over the worsening symptoms, I was brushed aside as not being "as urgent" as the other animals. I waited four hours before even seeing the doctor and ended up overpaying for charcoal and fluids. The only reason I gave two stars is because the doctor was kind to my puppy when she finally saw him. I wil not be returning and would never recommend this clinic to anyone else.

Christina Molyneux

Absolute worst experience!!! I waited for over 2 hours while my poor goldendoodle was puking and lethargic also obviously starting to look dehydrated for them to tell me he wasn't urgent and that I would be next in line! Absolutely not! I went somwhere else was immediately helped and had an amazing experience. Turns out he is pretty sick and also needing a chest xray and fluids! I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Steph79L

These guys always take such good care of my babies! When I have panic and take my dogs in. The staff is so caring and sweet too! And I totally understand critical animals come first so to me I don’t mind waiting. Great place! Glad we have it here!

Marcus C.

This clinic is extremely shady and just poses as a valid healthcare provider. I'm not sure what I was scared for more, my dog or my pocketbook. Their so-called 'veterinary professionals' asked very few questions concerning my dog's specific ailment--obtaining only the minimal amount of information needed to formulate the most over-reaching and expensive treatment plan possible. It was fairly clear that my dog was experiencing some type of allergic reaction and required only some medication and maybe an ultrasound, but their treatment plan also included a potential x-ray and other inapplicable and escalated procedures. If I hadn't said no to anything beyond the ultrasound I may have left with an empty checking account. Plus, their staff was fully prepared to charge me and have me leave without even informing me of the exact treatments that had been administered or any type of follow-up plan--I had to hound the tech checking me out in order to receive such vital information. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this clinical cesspool and clear money grab.

Sarah W

I felt like the care I got here was pretty good. My vet was extremely straight forward with the good, bad and the ugly. My cat was turning yellow and I was afraid it was liver failure. They did some blood work and an ultrasound to figure out what was wrong. My kitty is still undergoing treatments with his regular vet. Still hoping for the best. I am thankful for places like this. They are open when the regular doctor is out. My biggest complaint would probably be the waiting room time to see the doctor and also the prices. But how could I put a price on my kid? My cat is my baby and I am so thankful to the staff for treating him so well. Thank you!

Michael Arveseth

Our pooch developed some bleeding issues from a surgery performed by a different vet. It was late Sunday night and they are the only place open. They took care of us and were very helpful. Glad they were open late at night. They were very fair to work with. Definitely would recommend.

Tamara Shaw

This was a hard visit. Our beautiful dog had to be put down. They were kind, considerate, and treated all of us with compassion.

carlos avila

If I could I’d give them negative stars. Took my pup in cause he was vomiting and all liquid kept coming back through his nose. After they ran a bunch of unnecessary test and $800 later they told me that they would need to give him meds and liquids through an IV. They also said that he could possibly have an intestinal blockage but weren’t sure and told me to bring him back if he kept vomiting, to do and ultrasound scan, but that all test were normal. They called me the next day to let me know that they had found an intestinal blockage on the X rays that they had “missed”. By that time my dog had already had surgery at a different Vet. I feel they were more worried about getting the most amount of money out of me then actually helping my dog.

Desireé A

Absolutely disappointed. I found a freshly born kitten which I’m assuming came from the stray in my neighborhood. It had an umbilical cord still & everything. I went in and said I didn’t know what to do and I didn’t know if it was going to survive and they sent me away because “it’s so small and most likely won’t live, so we can’t take abandoned animals unless you want to be financially responsible for it”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The woman working spoke about this as if it was a huge inconvenience that I was there and had no genuine interest or concern. Isn’t that what an ER is for??? I have 3 cats of my own and will never come to this place if I ever need anything whether it’s an emergency or not. I ended up going to Mountain West Vet ER in Layton and they immediately took the kitten back with no questions asked.

Ulises Ordonez

I'm very glad that I knew what was approximately wrong with my dog. After 6 hours anyway. But thank God that these "professionals" didn't get into my head about putting her down or having her hospitalized for such a fixable situation. Do yourself and your pet a favor, go somewhere else. None of the negative reviews here are an exaggeration.

I want to thank Dr. Tina and her crew for helping my Sophie make it through the nigh after she was run over by a truck. She had skull, jaw and rib fractures, they kept an eye on her and kept her pain free for the evening until we could get her to our regular vet. You are all the best, she is doing really well back to herself.

Lisa Johnson

We are very grateful for all of the services they provide. Most of our interactions have been positive, even if they did not have happy outcomes. One major concern, they recently changed the company they use for cremation and memorial services. The Animal ER limits what is offered to the client. This was not helpful and increased our grief when we saw that our beloved Lola's remains were not memorialized in the way we were told. We will be asking for a refund of some of the items and will go with another company. In a time of such pain and loss, the Animal ER should truly consider offering more healing and loving memorial options. Here is the review I left on the memorial company's site: I spoke with Sean regarding our concerns. He explained their processes and the difficulties in having the Hospitals show all offerings to clients. We have decided to return the urn and bags. He was very kind and understood the depth of the loss and unmet expectations. I will leave a review with Sunset Animal ER to inform others of the miscommunication and lack of options they allow to be offered. Very frustrated and disappointed! We ordered a cedar urn and paw print for our sweet Lola. The ribbon was Brown, not PINK. Her name was misspelled on the metal plate! We asked for the engraving to be on the box itself, but were told it was not possible. Worst of all.... her ashes were in a white plastic bag in a see through bag! Really?? Most others offer a velvet bag, not see through! I was not prepared to see my sweet Lola's remains in such a tactless, disrespectful, and uncaring, way!! I hoped that the pain of losing her would lessen upon receiving her remains, but their treatment of her memorials increased it!

Jenn Morgan

So very disappointed at this vet er and their practices. It seems they are worried about the almighty dollar and not the health of animals. I called to night and explained that our dog had been at the vet during the day for a glucose test and the insulins was mistakenly left at the his office. I asked if we could possibly purchase a vial of insulin or even 8 units to get a through the night. The vet er said that they only way they would treat our dog is to see her. I explained that it was 45 min drive across town in horrible weather and our dog was very stressed by riding in the car (which is not good for her diabetes). I also explained that my husband was already near their facility and could easily stop by. The vet was quite insistent that we bring the dog in. I even offered to email a pic of the insulin prescription we had as proof of her need. It seems that they are worried more about getting their fee than treating animals. I have taken several pets here before, when we have had big emergencies, they were wonderful with our pets but the situation tonight was so disheartening. Also I feel like his wanting to see my animal and assess her would have taken away time from pets in much dire circumstances.

Madelynn Mutter

I was very happy with these guys- very prompt about helping with our sick cat. They really took care of us, and they were no too expensive! Will come again if we have a problem.

I would honestly give this place zero stars. About a year ago I took my kitten to this place because she was clawing at her face and bleeding. The vet I usually go to was out of town so I came here wondering if they will just check and tell me that this wasn't a serious issue. They weren't that friendly and after a long time of waiting they took her into the back and forced her down to stick random tools up her nose and assumed it was a nose problem. My kitten was only about a month old at this time and we had just moved so she was stressed and this stressed her out more. What was worse was that they wouldn't let me see her as they checked her. They told me to go wait out in the waiting area again and They led me back out. They came out maybe an hour and a half or two hours later telling me that they PUT MY KITTEN UNDER SOME MEDICINE AND WERE GOING TO DO A SURGERY ON HER. Immediately I told them that they DID NOT GET MY CONCENT AND TO BRING her to me. I left once she was awake and set up an appointment once the vet I go to came back into town. He figured out that she only had loose teeth and helped to numb her and pull the teeth out with me signing some papers allowing them to do so. In a half hour she was numbed and they let me stay alongside her as they carefully found the loose teeth and pulled them. Another twenty minutes and we were out of there. Long story short, never bring your animal here. It will be like having doctors do this to your children or family members. This ER was unacceptable and should never be allowed to even go near animals. They are cruel to them in their own way of doing things.

Susie Kerr

Professional and very caring office. My kitty needed emergency treatment and they were awesome. They tell you your options, range of costs and are very compassionate. Highly recommend.

Erica Jensen

I have had to bring my pets here twice. Once because our dogs bit a tennis ball at the same time ripping a hole in on of their faces which resulted in needing surgery at 9PM. After previously working for a veterinarian I was extremely surprised to see the bill only come out to $380. Then most recently just this past week end for what we thought was something neurological only to find out that it was most likely a pinched nerve that has similar symptoms to a stroke. We drove all the way to them from North Salt Lake as we feel like they truly care about their patients and never try to talk us into testing or anything else that is not needed. Thank you Dr. Sweeny and staff!

Lexus Poll

Absolutely hands down worst place to take your animals. The wait was over 2 hours long. They refused to help a seizing dog because he was "old" which I thought was very disrespectful. They don't care about your animals. They just want money. Find somewhere else to take your animals if you truly care for them.

Skubee Snak

My dachshund was attacked by a pit bull. He tore the outer jugular and poor guy almost bled to death. ER hospital took him in immediately and stableized him and got him relaxed. They did surgery very quickly and we're very professional. The dog usrecovering now and I'm confident he will be 100 percent soon.

Fox Mulder

The staff was very friendly and amazing!! I will recommend this place to everyone!

Brian Davies

Loooong wait, but the staff were super helpful and nice. They are willing to do what you like and will inform and respect your decisions.

C Jones

They need more doctors and technicians

Esi Mendenhall

This place is horrible. Walking in the door panicking about my pet, they immidiately asked if I had $600 I could pay right then before my animal could be seen. (Mind you, my animal is crying in pain) I overheard them repeat this financial question to everyone who walked in the door. Little to no interest in the animal. They encouraged me to euthanize my animal “due to my financial situation”. It became clear euthanazing was the most humane option. Before doing it, I was repeatedly asked if I would like to pay before of after he was euthanized. the vet was so inexperienced that the actual process putting him to sleep was HORRIFYING. I left without my pet and after paying a bill of $300. Take your pet to your regular vet the first sign something is wrong, if they can make it though the night, do whatever you can to avoid this place. Such a sad disheartening experience.

Mark S

There when your little friends NEED them. Professional service.

Fabiola Moreno

DO NOT take your pets here! They are a joke! Are not out to help your pet and only care about how much more they can charge you. If your pet can wait your better off taking your pet to your vet. Highly recommend Dr Panter at animal care in Clearfield. Truly cares and does everything to help with out worrying about payment. I seriously don’t know how these people sleep at night. They will take your pet and lock them away in a cage just to charge up a visit instead of telling you up front what they can do.

Jayden May

My family and I brought our dog in for euthanasia. We wanted to wait and do it at home but he declined so quickly the last two days that we couldn’t let him suffer... ): We called and they got us in really quickly and treated us with so much compassion and love and gave us plenty of time to spend with him. Thank you so much for taking care of our baby during his last day. It means the world to know he is not suffering anymore.

I was here in July, yes I know that is a while ago. I brought my puppy in that I had found in a hole at 2 weeks old that was having constant seizures. She was malnourished and dehydrated beyond belief. In fear I would loose this fighter of a pup I came to this emergency vet looking for help and an answer to my suffering lab. The wait was hours, I handed my pup to the vet over the counter and noticed she had started to seize again and the woman wouldn’t give me her back to lay her flat and comfort her through the seizure. She took my puppy in the back and an hour later the doctor came back and told me she had water on her brain and the right thing to do was put her down. He mentioned the price multiple times (over $600). As if he was just looking for money. Out of anger that I was being scammed I requested to get my puppy back. I didn’t get my pup back for another 30 minutes. When I received her she had been poked and stabbed multiple times in her two front legs. I asked what they were from and they told me they tried to IV her. THEY TRIED TO IV A 1.3 POUND PUPPY. She slept through the night, still having problems. And I took her to my normal vet in the morning and they were astonished by the news this emergency vet had given me. They were completely wrong. I tube fed her for months. Nursed her back to health and she had seizure medication and they eventually stopped. My pup did not have water on her brain nor was she I doing the wrong thing by not putting her down. My regular vet diagnosed her with sepsis, which had taken her back two toes on her foot and half her tail, and that was the cause of her seizures. NOT WATER ON HER BRAIN. She’s now a healthy 51 pounds. She’s made a full recovery from finding her 2 weeks old in a hole, 1.3 pounds weighing in. She is now a happy playful dog. I can not emphasize this enough, DO NOT TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE.

Good surgery and it healed well but I waited hours for the cut on my dog's leg to be looked at. Then they tried to convince me to have heart surgery on my 11 year old dog for a small heartbeat irregularity which she has had her whole life and no other vet ever suggested medication. We were always told to just keep an eye on her. She walks three or more miles at a time and does not suffer fatigue at 11 but the surgeon ignored this and kept pressing. I was also quoted $150 and I was actually charged $350 at the end.

Visited today with our 1 year old pit mix dog due to possible poisoning or obstruction. First thing through the door we're told it's $100 just to be seen because it's a holiday (in Utah) otherwise it's $80. The technician was really wonderful she was a bit over worked. They are a bit overpriced.

The dirtiest unclean clinic I have ever witnessed. Blood on table. Hair from half a dozen or more animals on exam table. Too much failure to mention.

I had the bad experience of losing my 18 year old cat tonight. We tried to rush him there to ease what was coming. Unfortunately he passed away on the trip. They took him back instantly in order to make sure. They verified the bad news. They gave us a nice box to put him to rest in at no cost and offered their sympathy. You will be missed Snickers.

After going to the local vet, being referred to the slc Er which we were not impressed with we decided to go to Sunset ER and have our dogs blood drawn again. We were more than impressed there was a little wait (it is an ER there will always be waits right) but they were friendly caring and kept us up to date on what was happening. The techs were all great with our dog loving all 122lbs of our puppy. Then Dr. Sweeney came in. Very impressed not only did he talk to us in terms we could understand he was very real with the situation ( not a good one) and what our options were. He was also mindful of costs and realistic outcomes of each situation. The SLC ER almost made us feel bad for asking about costs ( which could be minimal to in the thousands for what our dog was going through) but Dr. Sweeney never made us feel this way he kept us informed and communicated so well! We took our dog home and later that night had a concern, he got on the line himself to talk to us about it. A few days later situation had changed so we called again, he again got on the line and after talking told us to come in we did and he came to the lobby to talk with us for a min since the rooms were full until we could get her back. The entire staff remembered us and our dog and were so professional, helpful and carrying. Dr. Sweeney is amazing we LOVE this place they are fantastic!!!

IF I COULD RATE THIS PLACE MINUS STARS I WOULD!!!!!! We took our Mastiff in last year because her mouth was bleeding. I mean, dripping with blood out of her mouth. We got to the ER and the lady told us to have a seat. While sitting there are Mastiff's mouth literally was dripping blood all over the floor. My husband had to ask the receptionist for paper towels because there was that much blood dripping on the floor. We did not go right back we had to sit there at least an hour. When we finally went back the so-called vet said that she had some kind of abscess as she needed to have surgery as soon as possible. Before we went in to the ER I had a feeling that she might have just chewed on a stick and had a small puncture wound in her mouth. But we wanted to take her in to make sure. So the vet proceeded to tell us if we wanted to do the surgery here it would be between $400 and $600. He did say if you wanted to take her to our vet we could instead. But she needs the surgery as soon as possible. By the next day her mouth was not dripping with blood and she did not need that so-called expensive surgery. The only reason we took her there is because our regular vet was not open and we thought with blood dripping out of her mouth would be an emergency. The Animal ER in Sunset Utah is not there for emergencies, at least with our dog. I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING ANY ANIMAL TO THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!! HORRIBLE!!!!!

Nick Dellamore

If I could rate this place any lower, I would. We took our dog in for severe diarrhea and we were the ones basically asking them for different tests to be done. Nothing was recommended and nothing good even came from going here. It was a complete waste of $250, to wind up having to go to our regular vet a few days after. The staff at the counter was very friendly, but the vet David Sweenie I would NEVER let see my dog again. He definitely does not seem like he should be a vet. Do your self a favor and steer clear of this place if at all possible!

Ruth Hennessy

I am grateful to the staff for giving up their memorial day weekend to care for our dog. Our dog had a spleen tumor we didn't know about rupture and hemorrhage. The staff laid out our options very clearly. They made clear our dogs prognosis was not good, shared personal experience with this condition, & non-judgmentally supported what ever decision we made. In the end we went with a surgery we were not pressured into. 12 days later our 11 y/o beagle had his staples out & is doing great. The ER set a tissue sample and report with us to our regular vet (Layton Animal Hospital-also awesome) that read the patho & were the ones in the end to deliver good news. Thank you Animal Emergency Center for your care of our beagle.

LoriJay4

For a cut foot or straightforward pet emergency, these people are great. But for my 7yr old retriever with unexplained fluid in her abdomen, their ultrasound was too low fidelity and they recommended I go to AVC in SLC for advanced diagnosis. Cost me twice as much. Should have gone to AVC first.

To Wanda

When you first walk in they take your animal to a back room, where you are not allowed to go, then they come back and say your dog is critical and need 600 to a 1000 dollar deposit. Then they have you wait and wait and wait, all the while racking up the bill. Then, here is the great part, here comes the so called vet saying what it may or may not be, but it would require an ultrasound, an exray, and more tests the list kept going. I told him it was a blockage, our other dog went thru the same thing twice. Nope this guy was concerned about racking up a bill. My advice, if it is not life or death stay away from this place. And yes we were lucky enough to have our own vet agree to see our dog after hours, and it was a blockage. Also, stay away from David sweenie, this guy is NOT A PROFESSIONAL VET. He is mean, rude, I would not trust any animal with him ever.

G.I. Ginge

So the only reason I think this place is in buisness is because there is no other animal ER in my area. My 1 year old dog has had 3 seizures in the last 12 hours and we waited for over an hour and a half without ever getting seen by the doctor. And like magic when we walked out they called me and said oh you are next on my list. I wouldn't recommend this place unless your pet is at deaths door god forbid

Kyler Lloyd

This place is a joke. I took my Yourkie dog into them on a Saturday night because he jumped out of my truck, and wouldn't walk on his leg. They took him to get x-rays done, which is normal, and then brought him back to us in the exam room. A couple minutes later, they came back to get him because they did the x-rays wrong and needed to have them retaken. After waiting for about 45 min, they came and got me to go look at the x-rays with the doctor. He told me that he couldn't see anything wrong with his leg, but he wanted to do blood testing because he had a rising fever. First off, the place wasn't cooled very well, and second off my dog was probably stressed because of them having to retake the x-rays twice. Then they sent me home with a 250 dollar bill and a bottle of pain meds. A couple days later my dog was still limping on his leg, so i took him to our normal vet, with the CD that had the x-rays that the animal ER took. Just by looking at the dog, he saw that he had completely torn a ligament, and then he looked at the x-rays and saw a small fracture in his joint. Our normal vet was very surprised that the animal ER didn't catch that. They casted his leg, and sent us home with some antibiotics. After arguing with the Animal ER trying to get a refund for the visit that didn't help me at all, they were too convinced that they did nothing wrong, and said they would give me a 20 dollar refund for my "inconvenience". I will never go there again, and i don't recommend them at all!

I am very saddened as my elderly parents both almost 80 yrs old recently had a stray cat visit their home. He was disheveled and in visible distress, my mom offered him water however he was unable to drink. Being animal lovers they took the kitty to the only open clinic on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, the diagnosis was not good the poor baby had a tumor on his tongue that had progressed to the point of not being operable so the decision was made to end his suffering. The part that I can’t believe is this place charged my parents around $165 for an office visit and euthanasia. This just doesn’t seem right, not because it’s my parents but because how can a place that is supposed to “be about the welfare of animals” charge do-gooders who were only trying to help out a kitty in need. Surly they could have discounted the cost if not of offered the services for free. I understand they need to make money however situations like this should be taken care of differently. If services of this nature or similar situations were free/discounted to the public maybe more people would be willing to step in and help an animal in need. This leaves me with a hole in my heart it’s sad to think that this clinic is more about profit than love and kindness.

Mike Mansfield

For a business / service that none of us ever want to have to use, they were respectful and thorough -if you are here, after hours, you and your 'friend' are having a bad day by definition. What more can you ask for from someone you only meet during a time of trauma.

Amber Gavin

Took my sick dog in to be seen, the initial wait was about 45 minutes just to be told they’d be running a bunch of tests so i asked if I could go home and be called when she was ready to be picked up, which I did. They called and so I left immediately to go pick her up. Then waited an hour and 10 minutes to be given 60 seconds worth of discharge instructions and medications. Absolutely ridiculous! Yes they was busy but it didn’t even take 5 minutes to get us our dog and let us go. Two stars is for the Vet, she was great.

The only good thing about this center is its being open after-hours (late nights, weekends, etc). BE PREPARED TO WAIT. I spent over an hour in the waiting room, and nearly 3 waiting for a doctor to prescribe treatment (1 of those hours I was supposedly “next” to be seen). You’ll be better off waiting until your regular vet is open instead of wasting your time with this place.

Rebecca Holley

The staff were kind and gentle, listened to our concerns, and provided us with the information needed to make choices for our pup's best care.

Bill Hickman

Dr Sweeney, as well as the other Doctors that work there are simply amazing. They really care about the animals in their care. I have a five pound papillon that was hit by a car. She was really hurt bad. When everyone was telling us to put her down, Dr.Sweeny told me told me he couldn’t make any promises, but he would do his best to keep her alive. And that is exactly what he did. His staff told me that he even came in on his day off to check up and care for her. Here we are ten years later and she is still healthy well and most important alive. I have another dog that is presently very sick and I am experiencing that very same care and dedication with him that we received from this hospital ten years ago. Thank you to all the doctors and staff for your commitment and dedication.

Michelle Chidester

I would never take my animal here they don't care about animals only making money. My dog was bit by a rattlesnake and they would not see him without 90% of estimated bill up front. My dog needed to be seen or die and they didn't care.

Hailey McDonald

DR. Sweeney and DR. Curry were completely professional, kept us well informed, and the office staff was lovely, and very empathetic. It is never a good reason that you end up at the Animal ER- And you can pretty much guarantee you will have a hefty bill, it is common sense. If you go in realizing that you must pay for the life saving services then there will be much less upset. (If it is not a life threatening emergency and you don't want to pay for ER then wait for the normal clinics to open) I was horrified after looking at the reviews AFTER my poor Rico was in surgery. But my experience was nothing but satisfactory. The clinic was Extremely busy, and we had a very long wait time. But once again, it was as expected as dogs piled in, bleeding, not breathing, etc. They saved our Dog from an out of no where infection in his eye that resulted in an abscess. Nightmare of a situation, but we are thankful for the animal hospital, the staff and the DR's. Rico has lived to be able to go to his normal vet for Follow up after the surgery. If we waited until Mon it might be a different story.

Worst experience I have ever had at a business. The only good thing I can say is we walked out with puppies a live. For the money that is shelled out for the services provided they have horrible communication. A phone call stating that they were able to save some pups lives would have helped put the mind at ease. The scolding by the vet was another over reaction to her techs over reaction to an emotional girls comment you would have thought a terrorist threat had been made. They will take your money quick then leave you hanging in wonder. Truly the worst experience I have had at a business. This should have been an awesome one they saved some of our pups. They need to understand the emotions that are going on in an emergency atmosphere and not escalate the emotions. Lame Lame Lame. To bad the area doesn't have more choices for Vet emergency care.

Betty C

The veterinarian, Dr. Sweeney, was one of the worst health care professionals I've met. He asked why I brought my dog in since ''she doesn't look sick, why are you concerned''. He proceeded to ask me if the blood in her stool was ''a normal amount'' and then got upset when my dog's tags made noise. He acted annoyed when I would ask him a question and never actually gave me a straight answer. Price wise, it was expensive for what was administered. If you have to come here, try to avoid Dr. Sweeney.

Makaylee Harris

Waited 4+ hours just to get my dog seen and get some blood work. Never come here!!

Traci Jacobson

These guys are FANTASTIC. We brought in our dog that was having trouble keeping anything down. The service was fantastic. Both towards us, and our dog. Definitely somewhere I would recommend if you need help in a hurry.

Ruth Vigil

They did explain PART of the problem. I was hoping for a more thorough exam. My pet is not eating or drinking. So they say she has knee problems. I understand that, but why wont she lift her head? why does her hed shake? I am going to have to find a vet who will look more into these issues. Sore knees would not stop a pet from eating and drinking.

amanda marx

LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!!! Absolutely deplorable! I will never go here again. Not only did they misdiagnose my dog but they had us waiting there for 4 and a half hours until they helped us. I decided to drive all the way down to SLC advanced veterinary care! They saw me in less then a hour and found that my boy had a sever split hernia and needed surgery immediately. I would NEVER recommend anyone that actually cares about there pets to go here. As to my little boy because of SLC AVC my boy is doing well after surgery and is expected to make a full recovery!!

Jennifer Schafer

They helped me when my Pomeranian got into the Easter candy. Saved her life!

M Dk

Whitney, was amazing!! I had to put my dog down and she was so supportive, kind, and caring in nature. She was very sensitive to my situation and went above and beyond to make me feel like family. I was so impressed with her and the entire staff. I would highly recommend them!

Timothy Elkins

I wassdeeply offended that they can put a price on my animals life. I called them to see what i should do about my dogs face swelling up overnight and they said to bring my dog in with 80.00 bucks. I asked them if i could do a payment plan because ivdont have 80.00 bucks and they said no that they wouldnt do anything to help my dog unless i payedvthem the 80.00 up front. Such B.S. never going to trust them.

Travis C

Every staff member here treated my dog and I like family. They truly cared about the welfare of my dog. They thoroughly explained every process and every care plan, gave accurate quotes before every treatment, and have a kick a** Keurig in the lobby. Don’t let the negative reviews scare you away. These people will give your pet the best care, as quick as they can, and any time of day.

Caitlyn Faith

Saved my sweet puppy. Every worker is so kind! Grateful for these real life super heroes.

Beate Engelhardt

We needed immediate attention for our very old dog who was dying. All staff members we dealt with were incredibly kind and accommodating and made this horrible situation as easy as humanly possible. I am forever grateful! Thank you

Colton Fallows

The reason we had to go to the ER was because our dog was past due to have her puppies we just needed a simple X-ray to tell us if everything was ok. We got there at 630pm and didn't get back into a room until 830 waited another 30 min to have a tech come back and check her then she took her to get the X-ray finally and we continue to wait for a Doctor to talk to us, all said and done at 10pm this wait time was a joke they need to either get a new doctor or figure their stuff out! Very unhappy

Desiree Marion

Upsetting that they won't even try to help your pet without money upfront I think they should be able to set up payment arrangements for emergency situations

Sharon Beverly

The staff is very friendly and caring. The vet will go over everything with you including optional treatments. They provide meds and foods for aftercare at home. I was very pleased with their attitude and service.

Will Slade

After a routine spay operation at a clinic in the Salt Lake City area, my doberman was not showing good signs of recovery. I raised concerns before I left the clinic but they assured me she was recovering well. After I had her home for a short time, I went with my gut that something was wrong (she was extremely lethargic, her feet and ears were cold, and her gums where white) and called the Animal ER in Sunset. Based on our conversation on the phone they recommended I bring her in ASAP. When I got there, they took our puppy straight back to critical care and began diagnosing and shortly after administering fluids. They *did* make me sign a form authorizing a critical care path that noted it may cost as much as $600 depending on treatment, but in no way did I feel they were putting the money ahead of my pet's well being. They actually took her back and started work before I even signed. It turns out my concerns were correct, and my poor puppy's blood pressure was so low that it didn't even register. Dr Morrissey and the staff there administered fluids, managed pain, and took vitals and bloodwork through the night monitoring for any changes that might warrant any more involved procedures. They treated me with compassion and respect through the process and what matters most, they saved my dog's life. By morning her condition had improved beyond belief. I transferred her to her normal vet for a quick check and he confirmed she was in good health.

Emily S

Awful experience. Spent 5+ hours waiting. Came in with our dog, who could not even stand on her own. They immediately marked her as “urgent” and asked for a $600 deposit just to begin stabilizing her to maybe see what was wrong with her. They never gave us an answer on what was wrong with her. They just kept wanting to run more tests, they then ended up suggesting a $3,000+ Surgery that mostly likely wouldn’t save her. Anyway long story and $900 later, my sweet girl was later euthanized...

Rachel Storm

Found a lost dog- and they scanned it for microchip for free. Kind caring professionals who are animal lovers! I know they always have the best interest of my pets at heart

I brought my cat, Turkish, in Wednesday evening after he had been fatally wounded by two stray dogs in my own yard. Even though he didn't make it (he died on the way there) I'm glad I had the option available. I really admire that the ER staff are all able to deal with sobbing people all night in a compassionate and empathetic way while still making sure they are a sustainable business and that people actually pay for the services. I'm sure it's draining to have to give people bad news all night. Just in the half hour I was there, I saw enough to get an idea of what they have to deal with and I think they're all probably saints. :) Just wanted to say the ER Staff does a really good job and I appreciate their kindness! Everyone there has been great. Years ago Dr. Sweeney saved my Boxer/Cattle Dog mix when he went out the doggy door and jumped my fence and ate some dead animal containing a mycotoxin. He was there for two nights, and his normal vet for two days. He was a foster, but I adopted him after that ordeal. He's a very happy healthy guy and is so loved and spoiled. He has not gotten into any trouble since then. But he also only goes outside when I'm with him now. :) Almost exactly one year ago, Dr. Sweeney euthanized a foster pup who turned out to have acute kidney failure, but we didn't find out he was that sick until we pulled him out of the shelter. I had only had him a few days but was a wreck about the whole ordeal, and the Dr. was very good about it. It made it easier to deal with having to euthanize a 9 mo. old dog when I thought I was going to save him from that fate. I've also taken a few dogs/fosters there when I overreacted about things and they were fine, but I'm so thankful to the ER for being there so I didn't have to worry until their normal vet opened! I've always had good experiences but I would suggest that you speak up if something doesn't sound right because they are always trying to race against the clock and don't have the luxury of taking their time with each animal when they have multiple critical care cases at one time. So be thorough on the care sheet (they don't have your vet record) and remind the vet tech and veterinarian verbally if your dog has other conditions or is on medications. I just really appreciate the work they do. I'm sure it's rewarding when they're able to save lives but often there's nothing to be done, and they are very compassionate when that is the case. It has to be an incredibly hard and stressful job and I'm glad they're able to do it.

stephanie hatrick

The staff was really friendly! They took good care of my pup and got him all bandaged up after he was hurt by another dog. The cost was to me a little high for what they had to do, but for an ER clinic it could have been worse. My biggest complaint would be the wait time to see the vet. It took over 2 hrs to get into a room. My dog is going to be ok and they were available to help so I'm grateful for that.

Whitney

My cat was at the end of life. She had hyperthyroidism & her legs had started to give out. She was in pain & I could tell. It was a busy holiday & I was able to take my little girl in to have her put out of misery. They were very kind & empathetic. I didn’t have any problems. The office is not very welcoming- meaning it’s stark & bland but they were good to me. I’m sorry there are others who didn’t have a great experience

Michael Flanders

NEVER TAKE ANY ANIMAL TO THIS CLINIC! You won't see a real vet... you will see a lot of vet techs. I understand emergencies, but I took my puppy in last night, they took him in the back, the tech said they were plying with him and brought him back to me 45 minutes later and said "he will be more comfortable with you while you wait for the vet to perform the exam". Then I waited another hour before I was about to walk out the door. I refused to pay for the "vet exam" because the vet didn't do an exam. Then the tech tried to eat their words and say the exam was performed in the back, when not an hour before they said I was waiting for the vet to do just that. It wasn't until I refused to pay he exam fee and was walking out the door when they said the vet was ready to see me. The "exam" they charged me for was just the vet talking to me for 2 minutes. So I waited until the morning to see a real vet to determine my puppy's problem. If you need an emergency vet, I suggest taking a ride into Salt Lake City because even with the longer drive, you will be seen faster and with more professionalism. NEVER TAKE AN ANIMAL THERE, especially for emergency situations, your animal isn't likely to be helped by the incompetency if this clinic!

Jesii Studniarz

The staff are friendly and courteous

Nicole Bordages

They saved my dog's life! He was hit on a Saturday evening and they saved him. I don't know why other people were expecting anything other than life saving, off-hours treatment. This is an ER, people. Sometimes you will wait. The doctor was super nice and was sympathetic to my non-stop tears. I had to review this place after reading the unrealistic expectations from other people that wrote reviews. They are expensive but it's off-hours care, what did you expect. They are hard on payment but I haven't met a vet that is not. You may have to wait because there is only one off-hours care vet. I cannot stress that these professionals saved my dog's life....and it was absolutely valued, respected, and appreciated.

Troy Thompson

Paid 600 dollars for nothing. They put stitches in my cat and when they took the stitches out they didn’t put the cone back on her head and the wound opened up before we had a chance to do anything. These people don’t care about animals at all, only money.

Dr Glenn Letteer

I took my 14 year old Chinese Crested in at 3:30 AM this morning to have him euthanized due to very old age and severe pain. Although he was in pain, he was quiet. Upon arrival at this clinic, they immediately informed me he required a catheter in order for the procedure to be simpler and smoother. They then proceeded to take my dog into the back where I heard him screaming and crying for 40 minutes. They informed me they were having problems finding a vein. When they finally brought my little dog back to me, he had a tube sticking out of his neck and was very agitated. They gave me a moment with him before injecting the medication. Rather than going to sleep peacefully, he began crying and screaming as soon as the medicine began to enter his body. The female veterinarian was haggard and had the appearance of a homeless meth head. Euthanasia was supposed to be peaceful. Instead, my dog suffered worse and cried until he died. He would have suffered less if I had shot him in the head.

Brianna Davey

If I could give -5 stars I would. If anyone is like me, their dog is their baby. Their best friend & entire world. October 28th my baby threw up & had a seizure for the first time. Imagine the fear running through me. I rushed him to Sunset ER where this frigid witch of a “doctor” automatically assumed he’d gotten into marijuana. Then said he tested positive for antifreeze and was going to die if I didn’t pay them $900. They told me to pawn all of my stuff & get a title loan on my car. I took a leap of faith & left. Monday morning our regular vet ran a full blood panel & his blood work came back PERFECT. How the HELL do you look at someone sitting in a puddle of their tears holding their dog & tell them you can’t work out a god damn payment plan? The doctor even refused to show me his “positive test strip.” This place, in my opinion, needs to be shut down. They straight up lied to me about my dog who I consider my CHILD, just to get $900. I’ll see you in hell Sunset ER.

Amber Miller

if I could rate this place any lower I would. The staff and customer service was a joke. While filling out the paperwork, one of the staff members looked like she had been using meth. She would ask us a question and then ask it again moments later. She was NOT on her A-game for working in an ER clinic. Said she "was sorry and was just tired". After our visit and not many thorough answers, Stephanie was very rude while we were checking out. Was snippy and disrespectful to her own coworkers in front of us while asking a question. If we ever have to go back there, I will make sure those 2 are not working. I felt like the care of our fur baby was not the treatment he deserved, as well as the poor lack of customer service they provided last night. I suggest looking into better staffing!!!

Kelton Flinders

Saved our kitty's life!

Sara Szelag

These people are horrible! They don't care about your animals all they care about is money! They would rather see your pet die than help you when your in need! They will charge THOUSANDS of dollars and LIE TO YOU about what is really wrong with your pet. I took my dog there for a lung infection and they charged me 1300 for over night, 400 to get her out to take her to my vet, and a 50 dollar security fee to rent a part to help my dog breath! They then called me and LIED stating that I was told to find my own part and that I couldn't keep it! I PAID MY DEPOSIT! They told me they didn't care if my dog DIED, they wanted their part! I want to file a lawsuit!! They have violated so many LAWS and rules for their practice!! It's not worth the money. If I could rate negative stars, I WOULD!

Wolfie Feral

My cat had to be put to sleep. He was old and showing all the classic cat signs of his end. Vet tech Harley was with us the entire way and dealt with my endless sobbing with the utmost compassion. They never pressured us, even when we found out about the price. They let us make all the final decisions and respected what we wanted.
