They care about you and your animals. There's a large staff at this country clinic, and it's always full of everything from cats and dogs to horses, pigs and goats. It's first come, first serve and no appointments are necessary, except for surgeries. I've never been surprised with higher costs I wasn't told about, but rather, the cost is usually lower than my estimate. I highly recommend them to all my family and friends!

My dog was on the verge of death from eating Kibbles and bits and the vet gave me clear instructions and meds for him. They even had me come up during non-office hours to get IV saline and lines so I could give him IV fluids at home over the weekend. My dog is doing great and no more Kibbles and bits.

Had to take my cat here bc he had been throwing up all week and was unable to keep any food down. The clinic was great overall. They were busy due to walk in welcomes but managed to see me within 15 mins. They kept my cat overnight and gave him an iv which ended up being just what he needed. I picked him up the following day. I'm only giving four stars bc they were a little expensive. $328 for me. Also when I picked up my cat it took them 35-40 mins for them to get him back to me. Which I thought was a little long. Overall though I would go back to them. Good experience

Exceptional veterinary care. Very caring Vets. Office staff falsely accused us of having outstanding bill that was a double charge for that day of service. Double bill was corrected quickly by Dr Lee but office staff never apologized for rude behavior. Hard to understand the agressively rude behavior of single office staff member.

They saved our dogs from parvo. We could have saved one with gatorade but the other one was in critical condition. He was hospitalized for 14 days and looked like death for most of that time. They treated him well and kept him hydrated with an IV and gave him meds and a blood transfusion until he finally turned the corner. The only thing negative was the expense to hospitalize an animal but that's anywhere you go. These dogs are siblings and play together all the time so we are thankful that we still have them both.

Been going here for 22 years. I have had a lot of animals, mostly dogs, treated here; some from birth to death. Dr. Beam is the absolute best. My only complaint is that the area has grown so much that the clinic is now so busy that wait times have quadrupled and sometimes the personal attention has suffers. Sometimes the staff gets a bit overwhelmed. If you go on a Saturday morning, plan on 2-3 hours before you're out. Despite this inconvenience, I still will only take my animals there.

I arrived very early as read long wait. Hard too see building if still dark out. Suggest need larger sign out front or light on it. Sign on building has overgrown tree covering it. It is next too Burger King off I35 on hgw 67. 3 receptionist so check in went fast as many others arrived. Short wait. Exam is $49.50.

I can't express how much I love this clinic. There is a huge difference between Alvarado and other places, they actually care about your pet. They have never made it about money or how much they can get from you but instead of your pet first. The doctors have always given good, sound advice when given tough choices and helped us make a good decision that was truly for the betterment of our pet. The after hour doctors, two that come to mind Dr. Cash and Dr. Pruitt are in my mind two very special doctors who went beyond the call of duty, in the middle of the night and chaos to help me along with several others, with precision and care. They never lost their loving attitude even though I know they were under a high amount of stress. I couldn't be more grateful. I am sure they aren't recognized enough but they certainly should be! I have nothing but great love for Alvarado animal clinic.

I payed about $65 for a vaccine and quick check up. Telling you the prices because thats what i look for in a review. Be prepared to wait a while. I got there at 10am and got out after 1pm. Really nice Vet and she took her time even though they were pretty busy.

My dog had gotten into grapes and we weren't exactly sure what to do. We found out online that it could be toxic and that we should induce vomiting. Just to verify, I called to check that we were doing the right thing. I was told exactly what to do and my dog got the grapes out of her system. We are still watching her to be safe though. I just wanted to thank whoever recieved my call because you probably saved my dog's life.

Last week we had to put our 23yr old mare down. It had been a hard couple of days pumping fluids and hoping she would come around. We had been using another vet that couldn't come out. Kinda glad they couldn't. Dr. Harrison and Dr. Brady were the angels we needed that day. They were so kind and compassionate. The horse was my daughters and it was a hard decision for a 22 yr old to make. I can't thank these two doctors enough for how kind they were to my daughter and how gentle they were with our mare. It was still hard, but their assurance that it was the right thing made it a bit easier. Thank you ladies for helping us through a hard day!

I have used Alvarado Veterinary Clinic approximately 25 years now with all of our livestock & fur babies. I trust no other vets office with them. Since they serve a large area it may take a while (first come first serve) it’s well worth the tender hearted care they provide.

The staff and doctors are generally very nice - and competent. My biggest issue is the terribly long waiting time to see a doctor because they do not accept appointments, but an even bigger problem is any follow-up that needs to be done. Not once have doctors followed up with test results. When I call to get them I am usually told the doctor is with a patient and he/she will call back. More often than not that doesn't happen. I don't like the fact that one doctor doesn't follow through an animal's case - more often than not you get a different doctor when you go back for follow ups. There is little opportunity to establish a good client-doctor relationship because you see someone different every time you go in and doctor turnover is sometimes a problem when the younger vets leave to establish their own practice. The emergency off hour service is a great plus and one I have had to use a couple of times. Rates are realistic and not the arm-and-a-leg fees you pay in the city.

After being lied too from a 24 hour vet service in Fort Worth, TX , mrs.smith helped my sick dog whom another vet said he had an obstruction in his lower stomach. Mrs.smith ran x-rays an test and my dog simply had parvo. She treated my dog “money” as if he were hers. I can tell the passion she has for animals and we will most definitely recommend this vet service.

Alvarado vet clinic is always clean, efficient, and friendly. The vets are very knowledgable and treat my animals kindly. They have a rural area to service, so parking is a bit limited. However, it is worth the time to see their competent staff. I have tried several other vets after moving over an hour away and can say that my two hours on the road is spent wisely when it comes to my animals health. The staff is severely overworked, but still friendly, professional, and swift with their duties. My paperwork and billing has never had mistakes, and every surgery has been a success with no complications. They are a part of the heart of Alvarado that I miss. Thank you for the years of care and dedication you have given me and my animals!

Once upon a time this was the best veterinary clinic in the area. Great service, good prices. Unfortunately staff changes have left customers often dealing with unfriendly argumentative vets/interns. The last thing a pet owner with a terminally ill pet wants is a lecture from a vet who's recently out of school about what's best for your dying pet (euthanasia - ALWAYS) vs ways to keep pets comfortable or use of end-of-life treatment options. Basically if don't want cookie-cutter treatment methods then look elsewhere. I will say if you use this clinic always ask for a senior vet (or partner), never a new vet or intern - they tend to be much better at listening to their customers.

went to have a pet rooster eye looked at kept getting the runaround from the staff was told by the receptionist that it would take less than an hour to be seen, about 30 minutes later that as if you could take the rooster to the cow barn, at about 95 minutes later we were taken to exam room 5 where we waited another 35 minutes all this time we were waiting I keep asking when we will be seen the answer was always soon. we finally left after being there almost 3 hours and still not seen by a vet/vet trainee. I HAD TO PUT 1 STAR IN ORDER TO GET THIS TO POST I REALLY RATE THEM AS A ZERO (0) STAR

These guys are the best! I have been going there for at least 20 years. If you go on a Saturday, be prepared to wait! They are open from 8 to noon and they stay until everyone has been seen. Much less expensive than the "city" vets!

Since they don't take appointments, this is a good and can be a bad thing. You definitely CAN get in without an appointment, but it can make for a long wait, since everyone in the waiting room is ahead of you. Oh, by the way, the entire office takes a lunch break from 1145 to 100, so be ready to wait more. Other than that, the knowledge of the vets seem to be good.

I took my puppy in after he was sick at home for a while, he was vomiting, and wasn’t eating or drinking for about 2 days. We decided to take him in and the first day they gave him some medications and sent him home, we came back the next day because he had gotten even worse and I was scared he wouldn’t even make it through the day. They decided to hospitalize him, and he was hooked up to IVs. He was there for a week, they kept telling me he was doing worse and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. When I would go visit him he perked up and they said other than that he was extremely lethargic, they said his stool still wasn’t “solid”, and he was still vomiting. I asked them if they had tried to see if he would eat food or drink on his own yet. They said no they hadn’t tried. Dr. Creighton said they couldn’t figure out why he wasn’t progressing and they wanting to try a blood transfusion and stomach surgery. After a week of being there they never tried to give him food.... no wonder his stool wasn’t solid, he’s only had liquid for 7 days, and he’s throwing up because his stomach was empty except for all of the medications. Dr. Creighton got some food out and he wolfed it down! HE WAS SO HUNGRY, HE WAS DOWN TO HIS BONES. I decided then it was time to take him out. They sent me home with 5 different medications. I never gave him one of the medications. He ate like crazy when he got home and was drinking water. When I brought him home he didn’t throw up once. It has been about a month and he is completely back to normal and slowly putting his weight back on. My thought ? He had some weird virus or infection, and after 2-3 days he should have been reintroduced to food. I had to pay a $2000 bill which could have been cut in half if they would have given him food, and probably could have been a lot more if I would have let them do “stomach surgery”. They were starving my dog and he would have died if I would have kept I’m there any longer.
