Kind staff and takes care of the animals and their families

Lena Furmummy

Little pricey but they saved our babies when our vets are closed during the late midnight hours.

Susanne Bellner

We were able to take an injured baby bird after hours.

Linda Richardson

Took my 16 yo horse with neurological symptoms. Received a thorough exam and ruled out temporohyoid osteopathy. Had to send off sample for EPM and started EPM treatment in the meantime. Results came back positive for EPM. Vets explained disease and treatment options and co-ordinated with my vet to assist me to obtain the medication of my choice. My horse is improving.

KristyCarol Brown

braum denton

They always do an excellent job with my two dogs. I've had a few surgeries performed there in my pets and the doctors, technicians, and staff are always friendly and caring towards myself and my dogs. The doctors are always thorough in their explanations and are compassionate with my dogs. I appreciate that because it helps make a potentially unpleasant experience a positive one. I highly recommend UT Veterinary Medical Center for your pet's needs.

Brandon Quindry

This place is amazing. They have been fantastic taking care of all of my animals. I can't say enough good things about this place.

I took my 16 year old Parrot in for a broken leg. The bird was handling it better than I was and one of the receptionist came and hugged me. Thats something you won't get at any average vet. These guys were awesome and gave my bird the best of care!

Jeremy Ashley

There best animal hospital in the Knoxville area!

Edward Nagurny

Dr. D'Amico and staff got us in quickly and provided excellent care. The 4th year who took our initial concerns down did a great job of recording and reciting our worries to be sure we were on the same page. Dr. D'Amico came in, discussed our options in a very realistic manner that made us very comfortable with out options. Thanks UT Vet Med staff!

I am only reviewing my one experience with them in the night ER of UTVMC. My dog, who had been receiving treatment for blastomycosis, began experiencing respiratory distress, very rapid breathing. They took my dog back, would not allow us with him. Then, a few minutes later, an intern came to talk with us and asked 'so why is it you brought him in?' The intern, in a nutshell, told us he was running a fever in reaction to the fungal die-off in his body and was not in distress....just panting because he's hot. "He's just panting really hard". I felt a little relieved and took my baby home, gave him some Rimadyl, and we bathed his face and paws with cold rags which seemed to ease his distress. Forty-eight hours later he went into cardiac arrest and died from respiratory distress. In addition to dismissing our dog's respiratory condition as 'panting', he also said "I can't believe they (the dog's primary vet) doesn't have on steroids". When we shared that statement with our vet, they were stunned at such an uninformed statement. Our vet said steroids would have flattened the dog's immune system and erased any hope of fighting the blastomycosis. The final statement of stupidity was when we asked if there was anything else we could do to help cool him off from the fever. He said "you could shave him". This moron suggested I shave a double coated dog to lower a fever. I will never forgive myself for not taking my dog and driving straight to another ER. I'm left with the gut wrenching reality that I took the word of this imbecile over my own instincts and took my baby home to die a terrible death.

Melissa Long

Great service add and students . Love all the furry animals

The office ran smoothly and I thought the staff was very professional and explained everything to my satisfaction.

We took our rabbit to them 4 different times within 2 months. Every time, they ask you the same questions that you answered already, such as what medications he is on, even though they were the ones that prescribed the medicines just a week before. They want us to repeat all of his history every single time--even though it's in his chart. They would not send us home with pain medications for our rabbit even though he had severe infections in both middle ears as well as dental problems that caused him pain. They kept us there around 5 hours every time we went there. They would not prescribe a stronger antibiotic even after we asked them to due to our rabbit not getting better on the antibiotics that he had been on for months. My rabbit ended up passing away. If you go there for an animal that is not a dog or cat during the emergency hours, the after hours doctor will not know how to treat your animal and your pet will have to wait until the next morning to see the exotics doctor during their regularly scheduled hours. They will not come in and your pet could die before the morning. Also, we live far away from this clinic and they wanted us to drive all of the way back the next day after keeping us there for 5 hours just so we could pick up medications. I'd always heard good things about this place, but I was disappointed and will not be going back.

Sabrina Davis

There under horrible circumstances, but the staff, including the students, was incredible and did everything they could for my sweet cat. Although they couldn't save her, they worked on her all night and called us frequently with updates. Even the next day when we retrieved her body, the staff was so respectful and apologetic that they weren't able to do more for her.

Brandi Clifton-Cowan

They were able to find out what was wrong with my baby. She's a 8 year old Pit Lab mix that I had taken to 3 different vets before finally getting a referral here. They have been absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!

Elizabeth Green

Most wonderful people doing such an important service. So fortunate to have the Vet hospital in Knoxville. They helped me with my terminally ill kitty, helping give her last few months a great quality of life she just wouldn't have had. What compassionate people!

If I could give this place 1 star after what they put my sister through - I would. Minimum fee to walk through the doors: $155. My sister waited 3-4 hours to be seen with a foster dog that had suspected mange. After hours of waiting, the vet came back from exam and stated that the skin scrape wasn't clear enough to her on the slide/was fuzzy to completely rule out mange but that mange could not be confirmed either. Really? I attribute this to poor micro/lab skills. So, why didn't the vet re-do the skin scrape? No antibiotic discussed or given for potential bacterial skin infection. In addition, she stated that all his back teeth were rotten and all teeth would need to be pulled. His breath smelled of infection - again, why no antibiotic (like Clindamycin) started to help with his mouth infection? Then, Bravecto was prescribed to treat this potential yet unconfirmed mange. The problem is that Bravecto is: 1) only FDA approved for fleas and ticks (not mange); and 2) dangerous and has had a recent Sept. 2018 FDA warning issued re: canine deaths/seizures/CNS side effects from the drug. Of course, my sister was not informed of this FDA warning. So, she purchased an expensive and potentially dangerous medication (i.e., side effects) that is not even FDA approved for what it was prescribed for - when the vet couldn't even confirm a mange diagnosis. In addition, this was an unevaluated, new foster dog and there was no mention from the vet re: doing a fecal test (for worms) or heartworm blood test etc. Waste of money and time...very poor clinical care. UPDATE: also, the clinic failed to check the foster dog for worms. The next morning, my sister saw worms all in the foster dog's stools. So, she ended up having to take him to another vet. The other clinic diagnosed him with an ear infection, worms, fleas, and a skin infection from the fleas. How could none of this be caught at the UT ER vet clinic? Terrible clinical care...go elsewhere.

Clinton Elmore

They took in an injured wild rabbit. Bless them

These are caring and skilled members that do all they can to help your pet. Unfortunately our pet Had been diagnosed with Leukemia in January had a very fast onset of seizures over a 24 hour period on Saturday April 14th and was not able to be saved. The medical staff was very helpful and we had a chance to say goodbye to our pet and see that she would not suffer any more.

steve Tillander

My Dog was Diagnosed with Diabetes he went blind almost immediately..The eye Drs. Did surgery on both eyes and removed the cataracts and he could see again...Cant say enough good things about the Drs and staff..

Jessie Jordan

Had to take our chicken in for same day appointment. Low waiting time. Vet took her time to explain everything and used great care for our Strawberry.

Lynn Martinson

I tried to get my injured dog in there. Very difficult for an ordinary pet to be seen. The Vet was nice when she finally got back to me. I couldn't wait because the poor thing was in shock. Took her to Town & Country in New Market & she got excellent care.

Beryl Moore

These people are great. They took good care of my English bulldog.

Corey Hanley

It's not going to be inexpensive, but they will do everything they can for your pet. I worked with several doctors and students, and all were caring and professional.

Mandi Sims

These people are angels. Our dog caught a wild baby bunny and hurt it pretty badly. We took it to UTVMC and they took it with open arms and I knew the baby would be ok. Even if they couldn't save it, I know it was euthanized humanely by truly compassionate human beings and it wouldn't suffer. I am so thankful they are there.

whitney mikel

Very knowledgeable staff. Came in as emergency for exotic bird. Was taken right to a room. Was told all options for treatment and the Dr waited to answer all of my questions. Highly recommended.

Riley Bronaugh

They were so helpful with my cat. All understanding and patient. They wanted the best for her.

Brian B

I just wanted to say thank you to the vets and students and all the staff at UT veterinary medical center. Took our dog there for emergency and young staff could not diagnose what our vet did the next morning after hearing the symptoms. Paid them over $125 for no diagnosis.

Jennifer Goins

I have a very Fragile senior dog, his name is Benny. The Veterinarians and staff took excellent care of him and did a phenomenal job. I would recommend them to anyone!!

Richard Klocko

Excellent service and care from Doctors and staff. Thank You

Jennifer Sallas

I was there dropping off an animal my husband and I found and they took it and called me to tell the outcome of the animal. I love that they let you know what happened to the animals you bring to help

john bennett

Prices have increased significantly over the last few years, been bringing my pot belly pig since 2003, the staff used to be very friendly, now, they are rigid and unwelcoming. My pet was brought there for spa day recently, no one gave me an estimated price upon scheduling the appointment, it's usually around 100.00, for anesthesia, hoof trim, ear cleansing, they were also to deworm her, which the technician forgot, one of her hoofs was left long, so over 300.00 later, and a return trip to pick up a prescription of ivermectin, total inconvenience to us, our pet pig gets car sick when traveling, the technician told us to bring her back, yeah right! Anyone who has a pet pig knows it's not an easy task to load a 120lb pig that gets sick. I will not bring my beloved pet here, this place used to send a note on discharge papers thanking us for bringing our pet to them, now it's take your money and don't let the door hit you in the you know what on the way out. This place used to be a good experience. Its all about money!! Very disappointed!!

Austin Tutor

Called over and over and over about my dog. They keep saying "The vet tech is not in right now, I am going to transfer you so you can leave her a voicemail." So I left voicemails and never got a call back. After the 5th phone call with the same story, I am going to use another vet.

Lauren Brown

Almost 3 weeks to try and get some communication. My pups records were emailed numerous times. Replace the front desk or get extra help! My pups health has declined....we are going elsewhere. If you care about your small animal GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Bill Harris

Helping all species all the time!

Andrea Christian

My cat is dying as I write this post. I called and begged UT to let me bring her in. Shes been in labor for 3 days with tons of bleeding and 3 kittens born deceased all born on seperate days .I literally offered my car title or do anything I needed to do if they would just let me bring her in and they still said its their policy that all money is paud before they could see her. She's going to pass away 100% without medical attention & I have no extra cash until Thursday. 4 living kittens were also born so this is just devastating to me. They dont love animals...THEY LOVE MONEY!

Gwen King

Had our own tour guide. Ashlee King.

Steve Acuff

Love the service and they explain what is going on

amber lawson

They saved my cat!!! He was kicked in the face by a horse. But UT put him back together again!

Nick Sellers

Great people and an amazing learning atmosphere

Kirk Kinamon

Love this place! They take in wild animals that have been injured and will give you updates of you want

Faerie Childe

Took really great care of my dog when she had to have a second surgery for tumor removal. Not only did they take care of her, but they took care of me. She is my service dog for severe panic attacks. They made sure I was ok and kept a check up me with updates on her surgery. Wonderful care for everyone.

Gretchen Palmer

We had to rush our cat to their emergency clinic last weekend. After several days of treatment to get her stable, and a number of tests, we found out she has cancer. She is going through at-home treatment for that. From the moment we walked in, everyone was extremely helpful and kind. The doctors and veterinary students were informative and communicated with us. I know some people have complained about a lack of communication, but I didn’t experience that. You have to remember, this is a very busy veterinary clinic/school. They are treating/dealing with numerous animals and emergencies every day. Be patient! Also, this is a teaching clinic. Often times, you will be talking to a vet student. They are learning and gaining experience under the direct guidance and supervision of a licensed veterinary doctor, so keep that in mind when you’re talking to them- we all started somewhere

cecelia rafuls

They are very fitting l thorough and kind hearted.

Brittany Hardin

Megan saved my dogs life, and I cannot be more thankful. After stopping at a different emergency room and waiting a hour while my dog was dying, UT immediately took my dog back. They continously kept me up to date on how she was doing, and now she's sleeping in my arms. Beyond thankful!

Jackie Hao

Fantastic Facility

Mallory Dalton

My cat had breathing problems, the emergency exam was $155. I was there about 2 hours. They suspected heart failure and kept him overnight to see a cardiologist. Very thorough and everything was completed in a day. Overnight stay was $300 I think. Heart echo was $500. They are pretty upfront about prices. All the nurses and doctors were kind and informative. Paid $1400 overall. Kitty is resting at home.

Melissa Steed

Very comprehensive exams. This is the place to take your beloved pet when you want him to have a team of vets who know exactly what they are doing. They have a lot of specialists, as well. It's pricey, but it's worth it and your money goes to educating future vets.

Dustin Herron

took my 12 year old weim there on a referral from Doc smith at petsmart turkey creek. Was expecting the worst, she wouldn't move or eat without shoving food in her mouth. Pain in back and rear. Was seen by Doc Restle and Katie. Both took time out to explain everything they were going to do and what to expect. called with a diagnosis and a battle plan. So far so good. Has been almost 2 weeks and there's been a dramatic change in her. So happy we went.

Pamela Waddell

Very tentive and professional but my sugar glider passed away this morning

Aliza Eddy

I would never came back to this place again! I brought 2 of my gueina pigs there and both were really sick and they told me they were fine. Both have passed on!

Cathy Sawyer

Love love love them!!! They truly cared about my baby Rufus. Took the time to listen and treated him with care. They were very professional and personable as well. I would highly recommend them and would use them again if needed. Thank you, thank you!!

Cookie Jones

This facility is awesome! Dr. Shumaker is brilliant and talked way over my head but his students were absorbing every word. Even though he talked over my head, when I asked questions, he answered and explained thoroughly. He didn't seem rushed or aggravated that I was asking so many questions. The girls (students) took lots of notes....I mean it is a teaching college....and gave little side tips and even pulled up explanations and pictures on their phones to further explain things. You could definitely tell they are in it to learn, teach, and help animals. They are not in it for the money! They didn't immediately want to do a lot of tests. Dr. Shumaker said that could come later IF NECESSARY! My horse had a nasty rope burn/constriction injury to his foot and he was lame. He said to give it 4-5 more weeks of healing, THEN evaluate for lameness IF NEEDED! What a refreshing opinion. We had already been to 2 vets and he was on his way to healing but one of his topical meds needed changing and had possibly slowed his recovery time on the wound itself. I can't say enough good things about this place!! And....the best part....it only cost $110! Unbelievable! I give them 5 stars, thumbs up, cudos, and high fives all around! Don't play around with your horse's wound! Take them to UT first! Go VOLS!!

Corey Gilbert

Visit 1: They looked at my chicken and told me i should put it down because her legs grew out tot he side and it was to late to ammend it. $160 to look at my chicken for 20 minutes and then kill it. Visit 2: chicken got attacked by a cat. They kept the chicken overnight in the hospital and gave it back 2 nights later with a wing cast and a bottle of antibiotics. $400. Visit 3: I was told by front desk kitten shots were free for utk students. I took a kitten and got charged $40, after student discount ,for one kitten shot and they tried running more tests for $200. Kitten shots I got at my vet last year only cost me $5.

Recently moved to the Knoxville area and my aging French bulldog wound up with an indulent eye ulcer. I was referred here by a local vet. There was a bit of a wait as it was really busy. The staff were all friendly and kind. The facility was clean. We first saw a 4th year resident who was incredibly kind, thorough and gentle with our fur baby. She communicated well with us as to what she was doing and why. We then saw another resident and the ophthalmology vet. Everyone was incredibly kind, explained everything well, took their time answering our questions and definitely had a vested interest in the care of our pet. I’m really impressed with this facility. They emailed to remind us of our appointment and I had an email for the date of the follow up visit. I’ll definitely feel comfortable going back if there is ever an emergency.

Laura Ballinger

I definitely recommend a visit. It's worth the hour long drive for me to have my horse treated and cared for by their knowledgeable staff. The way they have the horse loading/unloading area 'dock' set up is wonderful. There are automatic gates at both the entrance and the exit to and from this area which keeps your horse safe and secure. In the case where they get away from you they are confined to this area. The footing is a rubbery texture to help protect both you and your from any slips or falls. The dock area is kept clear of debris as well as having a roof to keep you comfortable during any type of weather. The parking area is large enough to accommodate about 10 truck and trailer combinations, with this area also being sealed by automatic gates and iron fencing, which again provides security for you and your horse. Let me start by saying that I have never been to the small animal clinic, therefore the following review is only for the Large Animal department. Everyone I've worked with has been super nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. I'm referring to the Doctors, student residents and assistants. They also have specialists available if needed I've dealt with their expert on-site Farrier, Radiologist, Lameness expert, Chiropractor/Accupuncturist and Cardiologist. I've never been rushed, they dedicate as much time as needed to go over all of the test results and answer any questions or concerns you have to your satisfaction. I like the in-depth reports that you are provided at checkout for your reference which includes a summary of all treatments followed by detailed iinstructions of any follow up care necessary. I've always been amazed at how reasonable their charges are. In fact, the periods during which we've had one of the horses hospitalized they have taken the time to give me a call updating me with how my baby is doing once day and this last time we received updates twice a day. Finally, the UT Vet Hospital campus isn't difficult to find with easy access to and from via II-40/I-75. There's plenty of room for a large rig to negotiate on the roads in and around the campus.

Mark Baker

Best pet care in Tennessee

Jeri sutton

Great animal hospital. Caring, concerned staff. Fully equipped. They found my dogs kidney and stomach medical issues and treated accordingly saving his life. Excellent aftercare.

Brian Elrod

These folks do amazing work, this was our first experience with the hospital and they are wonderful.

Gabriel Elkin

I’ve had a very unpleasant experience dealing with the UT vet small animal hospital due to poor communication and customer service. My dog had surgery performed at another vet hospital that had 50% probability of needing an additional surgical treatment about 2 months ago and now 2 months later I take my dog in to the UT vet hospital to hopefully complete the additional surgery and get completely mislead and ultimately $160 in the hole. From the normal business hour staff all the way to the ER staff I was mislead into thinking bringing my dog in through ER would expedite his surgery and get him in quicker by simply paying the ER fee. When I call in later to get him on schedule I come to find out I was lied to and the ER visit was a waste of time and money and there’s nothing that anyone can do about the poor communication. I advise anyone who is not completely knowledgeable about the vet industry and specifically orthopedic procedures and scheduling to seek help from another vet hospital as it seems like this institution was more into making a quick buck off my ignorance rather then the well-being of my dog.

Kari Vaughn

If you have true emergency this isn’t the vet for your pet. Took my beloved 9 month old kitten her per a transfer from my regular vet. They stated he needed a stat MRI and spinal tap for probable meningitis encephalitis. We ended up there on a Friday at 5pm. My vet said please hurry before night shift arrives. We drove like a bat out of h@ll to get there. Only to be kept in a room with a declining cat for 3 hours. We were told no mri no spinal tap until Monday when neurological staff and radiology staff would be available. Our cat died within 8 hours of their care. Stay away from this disgraceful excuse of a place that calls themselves emergency veterinarians.

Sheri Parker

Very helpful for wild birds

Charlene Ashcraft-Mack

Great people! Very good with patients and people!

They take exotic animals very good

Laura Hillis

Kind and much better priced than the other emergency vets in west knox

john lewis

My wife and I took one of our cats to the emergency (Little bit) he was so weak he couldn’t stand, he was in pain and I knew he wouldn’t make it if we didn’t find out what was wrong. The doctor said he was dehydrated and his body temp was down. They gave him IV fluids and warmed him. Before we took him to the UT Veterinary Medical Center he was an outside cat, not anymore. Now he bounces off the walls. Thank you UT VMC you saved our little bit and for that we will always be great full

Doug Trant

What a wonderful facility and asset for East Tennessee. They have great doctors for all animals and specialties for all illnesses. They are knowledgeable and they care!

Christina Hayes

Great, fast and speedy service.

Bruce Hicks

They took awesome care of my pup after being stung

Angela Allen-Ritz

On 5/17\19 we arrived with my 6 yr old dane. He was shallow breathing wity racing heart. He was taken right back. The lady at front desk was not so inviting and polite but everyone after her was the sweetest ppl. They were so full of information and super caring. After talking to Doc and coming to terms that he had DCM and would not make it. We was taken to a much more comfortable room where we was allowed to spend time with him while we made our choice with our options. Jager passed away that night. The Doc was French and super caring. She stayed with us went over all our options and informed us of each step. I couldn't have asked for anyone better to care for my big baby. I Wanna thank the staff thier for thier caring compassionate support and say we truly appreciate all u did for me and my sister as we was there. It truly means alot.

George. BUCKY Douglas

Very very great

Ashleigh Simpson

The staff/students are absolutely amazing!!! We were treated with warmth and compassion from the time we walked in to when my dog was discharged the next day. I had constant updates on my pet and they diagnosed her problem in a timely fashion. My dog was discharged today (10/19/17) @ 6pm and we received a check up call at 9pm. I now have my new ER Vet.

Thomas Jones

Just called this place from a neighboring county trying to ask for medical advice @ 5:00 AM for my toy poidle until his vet opens. Was under the impression it was an emergency hospital. They told me they didnt give advice unless dog was a patient. $$$ No other ER animal facilities available. Welcome to hicksville!

Valerie Tokeshi

Arrived here due to neighbors dog attacking ours. This is an excellent vet clinic. They will do what needs to be done for your dog. We had to wait for owner of dog that attacked ours to arrive or the clinic was going to keep our dog. Owner of other dog finally arrived and took care of bill. Our dog is home and is fine now.

Lindsey Tarwater

One of very few places nearby that treats exotic animals.

Sabrina Meadows

We love this place. Had to take our big girl great dane here for cpl yrs before she passed. Great surgeons and staff!

Brittany Packett

Ahhhhhhhmazing people! They take in most animals free of charge. Like this little guy we saved from being completely squished. They even call you and let you know weather or not they make it. This little guy survived!! Thanks to the awesome Vets and Vet students at UT vets!

David Colee

THE BEST! Our cat got a cut across it's eye. They have Veterinarian Opthalmologists/Optometrists, both well experienced as Professors and Interns always on staff. And, while there is some rotation to expose as many Interns as possible to as much as possible, during our several visits, we were always assigned to one Intern as a primary. And, we always got the same Professor, who all also did the surgical repair. There repair was VERY successful, and, after recuperating, the little cat has no problem picking her targets, getting range on them, and going for it without question or error. If you're in the area and need more that a regular Vet, this is the place to go!

Ben Steinberg

This place is an excellent facility. The staff were fantastic to deal with in a very trying situation and we are extremely appreciative for everything that they did for us. Thank you !!

Douglas Reed

Excellent place for exotic pets very nice down to earth vets

Brenda Martin

Staff and students all very friendly and knowledgeable. My dog was blind with cataracts, they ran some tests said his eyes were healthy enough for surgery. They replaced his bad lens with good ones and he could see! It is awesome watching him rediscover the world! Awesome team! I highly recommend them!

Jackie Stanley

Outstanding large animal care

Therese O'Hara

I couldn't be more thankful for the service my pup received. 10 minutes into vacation and my deaf dog got bit by a copperhead twice on the leg. It was after hours and terrifying 40 minute drive from where we were starting, but they were on it! I called and spoke with them on the phone prior to arriving. They had my Snow White in their system before we arrived. They helped get her in on a stretcher and did everything they could to make her comfortable and reassure me...the crying mess. No wait, just right to the back for triage and we were out of there in a few hours. Everyone was helpful and caring. The Vet students and main Vet were knowledgeable and took time to explain everything to me and provide me with my different options. It was a major relief to find such a quality Veterinary service so far from home! My puppers is much better now thanks to their team!

Summer Stupplebeen

They do an excellent job of taking care of my animals they also trained others while they're doing this

Anne Wright

A friend found a hurt bunny last night and asked what to do. So I called here and they said I could bring it in upon arriving I was thinking it passed away on me. While I had cried in my car on the way there (huge animal lover) I thought I was able to compose myself. A nice lady (tall blonde) came out and I immediately broke down again embarrassing myself. She told me it did pass away but she was so sweet and thanked us for bringing in the bunny. Great staff.

Anita Rousseau

Took wonderful care of our fur baby.

james tomerlin

Thet care about your animals and you.

Kelly Woods

Definitely expensive but well worth the money spent. Our sweet 6yr old Pitbull Nina if ad fallen ill and our regular veterinarian could not figure out what was wrong with her. After months of test after test we made the decision to have her referred out to UT. I cant thank them enough. They immediately knew she had an auto immune disease.

Robin Adkins

They are the absolutely best vet in Bradley county I drive almost an hour to take my pets there

Craig Hutto

There is not enough time or space to even begin to mention the number of negative issues encountered on just this one visit. If I had to summarize it, I would say this facility is severely over booked, and since DVM's are mentoring students and inturns there can be 3 or 4 people involved with one pet making communication extremely ineffective. Much vital information was miscommunicated or completely missed, wasting everyone's time and putting your pet at risk for complications or even death.

Juliette Kesterson

Visited on recommendation of my regular vet and visited their ophthalmology department for eye care. Very professional. Be aware it is a teaching hospital so you get three checkups for the price. First a student examines, then a resident, then the certified vet. They provide a summary with your discharge papers of what was discussed and also have a pharmacy. Also has an emergency clinic for after hours, you will have to pay an additional emergency fee for this type of visit. Great staff. Very knowledgeable.

We had to put our dog down and the whole staff work hard to make the best of a difficult situation.

Terry Drulard

Staff was attentive... worked with us, gave us options for what we had to do...

I had an emergency on Easter morning at 5 am. As usual the staff at UTVMC was helpful, courteous and professional. Dr. Bush went way beyond the call of duty, showing great compassion and understanding, and helping me make a difficult decision. This hospital is a great resource for our area!

Rebekah Bays

Very kind and knowledgeable staff, affordable prices. Highly recommended.

When you have no one else to turn to with pet care this is the place to go. My guinea pig recently developed an abscess on his abdomen and not only were they thorough with his examination but so loving to him and very helpful to me. He required a lot of extra care and attention post surgery and the staff provided me supplies for home care to help cut the cost of his care. The staff is the sweetest and friendliest I've come across in veterinary care. They even called to check up on him. ♥️

RJ Farley

Took a box turtle there whom we found at our church. Upside down with eyes.swollen shut. We got a call last Sunday Yurtal the Turtle is in rehab eating and doing well. Thanks for helping our church turtle.

Amy Daniels

I had a sad but wonderful experience with UT's Vet Clinic. Hate to see all these bad reviews on here. They are doing the best they can.

Theresa McMahan

Friendly and professional staff. Made my visit easy

Fox Hearn

Needed help with a wildlife rescue. They were extremely helpful and kind!!! UPDATE: the animal they helped with was turned over to a rescue a few days later and will be released back to the wild soon thanks to their diagnosis and care.

Gary Flynn

Very knowledgeable staff. Explain all procedures exceptionally well.

These people are saints. My poor baby George had cancer, and through it all the staff was amazing. He has passed, but I at least know his treatment was 100%

Debra S Gentry

Awesome People and they did a Great job on my Fur Baby

Hannah C. Gunderman

They are absolutely amazing and have always been there for our animals in times of need. It is such a comfort knowing that we can go to them for veterinary help. Highly recommended. We have taken dogs, cats, and guinea pigs there, with excellent service and treatments each time.

The small animal clinic at UT Medical Center was the only place available for me to take my pet hedgehog to receive medical attention. I first had her taken in to be looked at when it seemed that she had developed a nervous system disorder. She was given medicine, but after giving it to her for a week and not seeing her condition improve, we decided on euthanasia. The staff at the hospital were very professional and caring, and I will continue to use them in the future. The cost was also very reasonable, and I was grateful.

Ms Spears

They are such caring people.

One of our cats has cerebellar hypoplasia & has begun having seizures. We went to neurology to get an evaluation & make sure our meds are on track. This is a wonderful resource & I recommend going there if your pet has a complicated case or you just want great medical treatment.

Shane Haun

Good service

Chrissy McNaughton

This is the absolute best place for specialty animal care. They are fantastic!

Erin Greene

Very incompetent and rude front desk stuff… Especially at night. They did not even know the basics of what their facility offered and refused to ask someone who did

This is the worst possible hospital I’ve ever been to. My dog went in for surgery for her back legs which cost over $3,000. We went to the checkups and I did all the recommended stretches to help her heal. Six months later, my dog is still in pain and can barely walk. I took her back three times after because my dog was in significant pain and would yelp and run away each time, I tried to hold her. I was told that she was fine and was “probably just being dramatic.” They showed my x-rays twice trying to inform me that everything healed correctly (not that I would be able to tell since I’m not a vet), and she didn’t need any pain medication beyond the time frame of the surgery and the recommended healing time. All while I knew she was in pain because when I went home, and she would whine in pain each time she tried to walk up or down stairs. She was no longer playful or happy. Instead she would just lie around and try to avoid any physical contact. After spending hundreds of dollars for them to tell me the same thing, I had to stop going there because no one would acknowledge her pain and frankly I was tired of spending all my money. I went to a vet who told me that my dog’s legs had atrophied, and she would need physical therapy at UT. Although I really didn’t want to go back, I went because my dog was in pain. When I reluctantly went back, I waited over 2 hours just to be told the vet wasn’t there. Now it has been over two years since her surgery, and she is in worse condition than she was when I took her. I thought I was helping by giving her the surgery, but I wish I never went to them! If there is anywhere else, you can take your dog I would.

The awesome staff here helped me to rescue 3 orphaned newborn rabbits and were able to get them to a wildlife rehabilitator who will continue to work with and care for them until they are fit for release back into the wild! Very thankful for this place and the individuals who helped my little friends!

L.A. DuBarry

I have a special needs dog that I took to the behaviourist. Dr. Albright and her right hand Nelle are very attentive and incredibly compassionate.

Pamela McHugh

Excellent Service and a very caring staff!!! The front desk administrators, doctors and staff are so wonderful! Dr. Cowan and Chelsea explained everything to me in a way I understood and took time to answer my questions. My dog Boomer was snake bit and they took very good care of both of us. If you need Veterinary care go there you and your wallet will be happy you did!

Brad Hebert

They saved my dog after attempts from other specialists in the Knoxville area failed. I am extremely grateful. I have never met the actual professional vets here - only students. So, sometimes there are communication issues. When I call with a question, I must always leave a message. They don't always call back. But that hassle is worth it for such good medical treatment.

Craig Adams

Outstanding service! Very caring and informative.

noor ibrahim

They have no idea about how to take care of birds. They charged me hundreds of dollars just to make him worse. and they loosen up my bird's splint on his last check up on purpose just to charge me again for a splint renewal. Everything was their own fault and they charged me for their own fault everytime I went there. Their ER is the worse of the worst. They are really rude to you unless you pay $110 upfront and they have no information about anything, they don't answer any of the questions you ask, all they know is that you have to pay $110. They were the ones who called me to take my bird to ER but then when I went there, they had no clue about me going there. Even though they have my information on the system they took forever to find it. So basically they made me go to ER to pay that $110 for doing nothing for my bird. ALL THEY DO IS RIP YOU OFF AND MAKE YOUR ANIMAL WORSE.

Travis Norris

Brought a bird in for a check up because he had flown into a hot wax burner. They initially seemed concerned and immediately took the bird back. After about an hour, they pulled me in to a consultation room. The "vet" Amy began telling me she would need to run to tests, which is cool, if not for the fact I told her I could not afford a lot right now. I told her I would take the antibiotics and pain med and treat it at home as she said. I then asked for her to bring my bird back out. She then sprung more things up and after I refused to put any more money into the visit, because I can't afford it, she kept my bird back there as I waited in the lobby for another 2 hours just for her to bring my bird back. Only reason I give this a 2 star is because of the lobby staff and intake employees. They were polite. If you can't afford treatments they will treat you like a foreigner.

HD1 USA

Outstanding medical facility for animals.

Alice Starnes

They told us they could do a blood transfusion and saved my dogs life. Very knowledgeable!

Abby Brinker

. We waited 2 months for our bunny to be fixed & we were told we could drop her off 2 hours earlier due to work. Deborah told us “ I made your appointment I would of never told you that was possible”. They did not try to work with us & we decided to cancel her appt because I’d rather not put my pets life in their hands when she wasn’t polite. She even told us it’s going to take a long time to get another appt somewhere else as if we had a choice after not working with us/ giving us contrary answers. Her attitude was awful . Ps Also no day before appt call /email.

susan leonardo

Excellent staff and care for my cocker spaniel. Very efficient and professional.

Kari Hester

We are so blessed to have this incredible facility in our city. The vets are top notch. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dogs, cats, and horses.

Julia Anna Trant

I am in owe of the knowledge and professionalism of the vets at UT Veterinary Medical Center. They are simply amazing.

Matt Asciutto

Maybe not the quickest and most efficient of hospitals, but you get access to world class medicine at a remarkable facility. Having students on the case may make things a little slower, but the reward is the depth at which your pet is cared for. Unfortunately, after two weeks in the hospital, my Koda didn’t make it. But I truly felt that everyone involved did absolutely everything possible along the way. I highly recommend this hospital for anyone looking to do the very best for their pet.

Tresia Conner

Very qualified specialists in every field. minimal wait times.

Chris Altman

Elite place to take when something goes wrong with any type animal. It is a mixture of Vet Students and Doctors. But they do an awesome job.

William Scott

Great people. Dark and labyrinth like building.

Freedom Found Farm

So far they have been helpful, attentive and thorough with our chihuahua!!!

greg Langevin

Found a dove with broken wings, and they took it right in.

Ellie Mae Freer

Very helpful when calling in and when accepting a wild baby bird that was hurt. No charge and just drop off. They give an option to be updated on the outcome of the animal's condition via phone.

Michael Garland

Fantastic staff! They update me several times a day on my pet's care.

Caitlyn Gaugler

My partner and I made the drive from GA, skipping UGA entirely, because we have a friend who spoke highly of them and their care. Our rabbit, Pasha, was very sick with chronic renal failure and we wanted to make sure there were absolutely no options left before us. The exotics staff was very compassionate and helped us understand the state of our baby. We ultimately decided to have her euthanized and they gave us a generous amount of time with her before the procedure. We are deeply saddened by the result but appreciate the staff for not giving us false hope or jerking us around for money. We had initially paid a deposit for her hospitalization but they reversed the charge same day and they accept Care Credit which is very helpful.
