Joe Knox

Awesome staff I've been taking my Boston here for 10yrs

Crystal Gray

For nearly 30 years, my family has been taking our pets to CHA. Not only are all of the vets capable and personable, there is always at least one of them around. When you need someone, someone is there. And, just as important are the techs and the welcoming staff. You can't go wrong with Cherokee Hospital for Animals.

Michelle Jacobson

ETSU Softball

All of these reviews prior to mine are at least a year old...so they made some changes because i LOVE Cherokee! The receptionists are so sweet and the techs and the two Vets I have worked with have all been awesome. I go on the road a lot and have to board my dog with them, and it is very reasonable--actually the cheapest I've ever dealt with when it comes to that. They also get a bath if they stay for a certain period of time. They let me call in certain prescriptions without having to go in and pay for the appointment (which is awesome, no one has ever done that for me and I've lived a few other places prior to here). Would I recommend this place? ABSOLUTELY.

Candy Casey

I have been taking my dog here for 12 years and he has had many health issues. I have always been treated like family. The Doctors and front desk and the girls who take such good care of my dog on day visits. I feel very comfortable leaving my dog there for the day. Lucky is our family member and he is treated that way at home and at Cherokee Hospital for Animals. They are a Godsend. I Thank and praise all of them for the job they do there. It cant be easy when your clients can't talk. They are truly dog whisperers.

Nate Clay

My dog was nearly unresponsive. I was told the best option for my dog was to put him down. Walked in with a list of random test that amounted to over $700 but They had done NO tests at all. Refused to let me talk to the main Vet about what tests would be ran, then put me and my dog out. Took him to another place and they gave him treatment and the next day he’s doing 10 times better than he was when I brought him to Cherokee. I will NEVER step foot that way again EDIT: Not to mention my dog was an 8 month old Chihuahua. They Counted him out. I’m so glad I didn’t take their advice

Andy Smith

I understand business can get busy but I tried several times to speak and set an appointment. Placed on hold then after 2 minutes hung up on. Then I try again and placed on hold immediately and then after waiting placed on hold again. Poor customer service. If you don’t have time to take 5 minutes for a call then probably no time to take proper care of an animal

Brittney Blizard

I would recommend Cherokee Hospital For Animals to anyone who is in search of a good vet. They are very kind and professional. Also, when you make an appointment, you never have to wait long.

Mike Reidy

Great visit to the vet. Molly was a little timid but they made her feel at ease. Great people, wonderful place. They always make Molly feel at ease. And they are so friendly.

Stormy Bowers

Great with my 5 dogs!

Holly Holmquist

I always take my dog here to board, and he loves it! I never have to worry about him when I'm on trips thanks to the kind and caring staff.

Christina Bruner

Great with my babies, but they are higher than other vets

Breana Nease

I love this vet! And so do my pets. The front desk staff is extremely courteous and professional. They always treat me well. They know my animals and greet them by name. All the doctors have always been willing to listen to my concerns and suggest multiple options. I would greatly recommend this vet to anyone who is looking- and I have.

Myrrh

The people there are kind and confident. They're very good with my dog.

Katness

We greatly appreciate their attention in addressing our emergency situation. The vet & techs we interacted with were very kind, knowledgeable & gentle w/our 7 year old beloved kitty during our visit, and were somewhat understanding of our financial situation in what resulted in a very serious and unexpected diagnosis: He had crystals in his urine and was blocked so that he couldn't void. We were told the only option was a 3 nite stay, so that they could cath him and get medicine in him, but that even then, the prognosis was not good. The price-tag came to right at $1k. Only when we tearfully made the decision to have him put to sleep, as we didnt have the $$ did they offer to at least cath him to relieve his bladder & see if it would help- also sending us home with antibiotics, for a lesser price of $200. However, when we were sent home, the catheter had been left in him, which resulted in a 2nd unnececesary & costly trip to the Airport Emergency Vet, and unfortunately, and heart-breakingly so, our kitty passed away at home, the very next day. I know in the big scheme of things, my small opinion doesn't really matter. Vet Offices are very likely accustomed to high end clientele that have the means necessary to pay hundred's and thousands of dollars for preventative and emergency care/procedures, but sadly this leaves out such a large population of pet owners that care just as much for their furry family members, yet don't have the financial means to afford advanced vet care on a regular basis, at the prices demanded. While the argument could be made that those same people perhaps shouldn't have pets, circumstances are different for everyone & this segregates such a large number of pet owners. That to me, is such a tragedy. Also, the option to at least cath him to give him SOME bladder relief wasn't even provided until we were in tears, facing the reality of having to put him to sleep, and to be honest, I don't understand why that couldn't have at LEAST been an option up-front. This is all very fresh and we're still mourning our loss. I think my frustration is more at what i consider to be a very broken system in general, tho the negligence in leaving a capped cath in him should have been prevented. Overall, we found this clinic as helpful as they could have been under the circumstances. Financially, I don't know that it would have been any different outcome, no matter where we went.

Thomma Lyn Grindstaff

One word comes to mind when thinking of Cherokee Hospital for Animals, and that is -- OUTSTANDING. All our cats are patients of Cherokee, and I can't imagine more thorough, caring, highly proficient veterinary care from the vets and staff. Everybody is so knowledgeable and caring, and it's clear how much they love and care for four-footed familiy members and bring their knowledge to bear to help. We are indeed fortunate to have an excellent veterinary hospital like Cherokee in our area. And our cats are the most fortunate of all.

Zoe Zazu

Love everyone at this office! They treat our babies like they are their own and we always get the best care and explanations of what is going on. Would recommend for anyone to take their fur babies here to receive the best care possible!

christina bailey

The staff is so helpful and polite! I won't take my sweet dogs anywhere else! They are always willing to help and not try to pry every bit of money out of you that they can.

Kathryn Greer

Clean and comfortable staff like animals and it shows good prices for nail trim very friendly

Janie Casey

I loved this place so much! They were great with my fur baby and so I decided I am taking both my babies to them now! They were fast and courteous and very caring. I highly recommend them for your pets needs.

Jonathan Britton

The folks at Cherokee treat me and my pup so well. Use them for boarding as well as vet services and couldn't be happier. Dogs always excited when we pull up!

Laura Peralta

I have 2 dogs one of them is a german shepard puppy and the other is a poodle. I've been bringing my poodle ever since he was a puppy. He is now 3 and he's a very healthy adult dog. I'm convinced that it's because he's had such a great vet. My german shepard had to get xrays a few weeks ago and I was very nervous about the whole thing but I'm glad to say that they got it done so fast and effectively. The staff is very friendly and professional ALAWAYS and they're very fast. They are able to book appointments quickly and in the time frame you ask. I've never visited the groomer here but I've heard only good things.

Edward Mattie

Great vets who care about the animals. They do tend to forget to greet the humans as enthusiastically when they come in as they do the pets but it could just be me. The front desk folks are friendly and eager to help. Overall a top notch facility.

Lisa Bowling

Had a great experience have our GSD spayed. She's hyper and is still in "puppy" mode, but they did exceptional work. They even called to check on her a few days after her surgery. We took her back to have her stitches removed and it took all of 2 minutes to do that. They also sent us a reminder for her appointment and for another appointment for our other GSD. Great place to take your pets. They're very friendly and you can tell they love animals!!

J Hill

Best Vets around. Called them when my dog cut his foot they worked him with in an hour of my call. They are great caring people. Thanks for all you do.

Kate Hight

We have been so pleased with the veterinary care our dog receives at Cherokee Hospital for Animals. The staff is friendly, helpful, and compassionate. We highly recommend them!

Janet Lick

Thanks for taking care of Angel. She feels so much better today. Great place and professional.

Margaret Mount

The staff at Cherokee Hospital for Animals is as good as it gets. We won't take our dog anywhere else, not even for nail trims. The staff is so sweet to our Dixie, and they take excellent care of her when she boards with them. If you love your pet like we love ours, you will want only the best care you can get, and that's at Cherokee.

Cynthia Ayers

They have been wonderful to my little Miniature Schnauzer. I have always received good service and would recommend them to all of my friends.

Jess L

Lots of friendly staff and very loving to pets. I can see why this place has so many good reviews, it is definitely worth it. Price is pretty average for a low cost vet. To make an example, just took my 1 1/2 yr old husky in for her annual checkup shots, a 9 month supply of flee treatment, 6 month supply of heartworm prevention, nail trim and microshipped all cost $300. Compared to a previous vet that I only had the shots and checkup was about $280. So this place is much cheaper than most vets. Highly recommend going to them!

Leisa Harvey

Cherokee Hospital for animals sees our dog Bree. It is very close and convenient to our home. Before moving to a new vet - I decided to see Dr. Carpenter and liked her a lot. She was sweet - offered suggestions on things we might think about - but wasn't pushy or rude. I would prefer my dog be with me in the exam room but do understand they take them to the back for testing. I do miss Donna and Mary - can't believe they are gone.

BriAnna Taylor

Always a great experience. Front desk staff are very kind and welcoming. Vets do a fantastic job

Joe Balcom

After going through a few other veterinarians and animal hospitals that I was less than pleased with, I found Cherokee Hospital for Animals. They have been absolutely great! They listen to your concerns answer all questions and actually take what you tell them into consideration instead of running a bunch of unnecessary test that puts your loved pets through undo stress. My dog actually enjoys going to the vet when needed now instead of being scared when going in. The staff is always happy and genuinely seem to love their jobs. I will be a long time customer and highly recommend Cherokee Animal Hospital

cecelia rafuls

My dogs love them. We started by just boarding and after our last visit they are now our veterinarian for our fur babies. They keep a close eye on the dogs boarding with them.

Pat Daniels

Best care for your pets in the area

Catherine Furness

I recently moved to this area, and another cat owner suggested I try Cherokee Hospital for Animals to treat my cats. I've been very impressed by the vet I've met, and by all the other staff members. From the moment you walk up to the front desk, it's a great experience.

Delanna Reed

I have taken my pets to Cherokee close to 15 years. The staff at the front desk are friendly, helpful and kind. They also have a great sense of humor! Dr. Sallee and her colleagues are knowledgeable and thoughtful in their assessment of my cats needs. As my cats grow old, their care has grown expensive. Yet, thanks to the diagnosis and the special care of of Dr. Carpenter, I have healthy, happy aging cats.

lauren bookout

I absolutely love this veterinary office! The front staff is always so friendly (the humans and their pets)! Dr. Simpkins is the veterinarian that we see, and she is very knowledgeable and takes her time with your fur baby. She will also answer any question you have without making your feel rushed, which makes you feel less stressed about any concerns. Highly recommend this veterinary facility!

Tommy Bernard

Friendly staff, they took time to explain what they did and what you need to know about your pets health and care.

Amelia Harris

Everyone is very friendly. They love my animals like they are their own. Very gentle and accommodating.

Michael Crowder

I've been taking my dog to Cherokee Animal Hospital for about 9 months. She has had her nails cut, vaccines done, and cured from an ear infection. The people working at Cherokee are very friendly and knowledgeable about animal care. I've always been able to get an appointment for the same day I called. I'd recommend this place for all of your animals medical needs.

Crystal Broadwater

We've spent thousands of dollars there on our pets. POOR PRACTICE ALERT:My husband took our Dobie for his check up. Which is a HEAD to TOE exam. They found worms, gave us meds, sent us home. I called the vet less than a week later to let them know my pups fur was looking rough and had just been there a week ago. She said did you tell the doctor? Well no..it was OBVIOUS on his coat he had more dander than what is normal a week ago. Had I gone, i would've told her, however, no excuse to not check his coat because it wasnt asked to be checked.Clearly, she DID NOT check his coat, much less look at it. My reason for leaving this, no customer service was rendered for poor services. It was gonna be another full charged vet visit that WAS NOT my fault. All she had to do was 1 job and she didnt even do that. My opinion, it's a way to make her another dollar instead of showing she is compassionate towards families animals and truly wants what is best for them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR.SIMPKINS!!!

All American Handgun School Rene Hashe Keplinger

Friendly and professional from the moment I called for an appointment until we left with medications for our dog. Charges were explained in the exam room before tests were performed. Everything was clean, organized, and the staff were all calm but professional. Definitely happy to have found a new place to take my pets.

Teela Sullivan

Everyone there is friendly and focused in helping animals. They even have coffee & water for people for free.

Kristina Lyons

Always very friendly and caring. They always help me to decide on what is the best approach to help me to take care of my beagledor, Max.

Jeremiah Douglas

Had availability to see my dog

Josh Byrd

They take good care of my dogs great place to board your pets also.

Rebecca Pickard

Best vet in the entire area!! Love the staff, they really care about your beloved 4 legged babies!! They helped save our ralphies life! Forever greatful!

Ashley M

I have been using this vet for over 10 years now and through the lost of 2 pets . This is not a office, but a family. I use them to board my dogs and they absolutely love it there. It is clean, the staff really love and care for animals, and are unfailing kind especially when dealing with bad news. I won’t go anywhere else.

Karen Easter

Grateful to Dr. Carpenter and the entire Cherokee staff for going above and beyond to save our black lab puppy, Riley, by performing emergency surgery over the Thanksgiving holidays. We are huge Cherokee fans from Knoxville and highly recommend them!

Christine Fiore

In/out quickly, staff is amazing! Clean, and they take the time to explain things

Sandra Ambrose

The staff is wonderful. They are always so nice to me and my dog. You can tell they really care. I would highly recommend taking your pets here. Dr. Sallee is so knowledgeable and she really loves what she does. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my dog's care. The front desk receptionists always make a point to greet me and Ozzy when we come to visit. If I have questions, they have always been able to answer it for me.

S. D.

Great staff who care about your pets well being, and kindly answer any questions or concerns.

Nathaniel Stout

Take my dog here all the time very friendly and well staffed seems to know what they doing

David Johnson

Awesome vet and the best groomer that we've ever been to.

Dianne Slemons

We love Cherokee Hospital for Animals. We had a pet emergency and was not able to see our long time vet. The doctors and staff at Cherokee came to the rescue and were attentive...understanding and quickly connected us to UT in Knoxville where our Brittany Shaylee was taken and it literally saved her life. Since then, Cherokee has become our vet and Shaylee is so excited when we pull the car into the parking lot.....we have to control her because she cannot wait to go inside. I cannot thank all the staff and vets at Cherokee enough.

Amanda Vance

The staff treated our puppy with great care. We had a wonderful 1st experience there. We will come back for all our pets needs.

Adrian Torres

The folks at Cherokee are phenomenal! My pup gets so excited when she is there for boarding and forgets all about me as soon as the ladies up front start talking to her.

Jennifer Rosario

I was given a small dog that was on her way to a shelter. I than took it to this fabulous clinic to get all her shoots and worm test, thank goodness she received an A on results. The staff was so very kind. The clinic was very clean the price for complete wellness Check was reasonable. And now the lettle dog is a great joy to a friend that needed a friend. Thanks to all who put this little angel in a safe path.

Larry Harris

To their credit, they have helped in an emergency. However they recommend high priced prescription food as a treatment. In my opinion, Dr Carpenter was rude and actually told me to quit talking, totally unacceptable behavior.

Barbara Smith

been using Cherokee Hospital for Animals, since 2005...with my dog Yoda. They have always taken very good care of him, and show love for him. he loves them too and I never have a problem getting him to go.

Cymry Boyko

So very kind to us♡♡♡

Dough Hubler

Wonderful staff and very loving and caring for my dog!

Charmin Dykes

This is a great place to take your pet's. We, me and my saddie love this place the people there will love and take care of your babies jus as you do

Lisa Watts

My last dog was a Lab, he was treated, boarded, and groomed at Cherokee Animal Hospital until he died. They were exceptional with the way they treated me and my dog, Jake. So, when my husband passed away 7 years ago and I got a German Sheppard Puppy named Sierra I took her to Cherokee Animal Hospital because, I knew the staff and the kind of care she'd receive like my previous dog. She has had minor health issues as she is 7 years now but, each time I took her to Cherokee Animal Hospital; she was given thorough, detailed, and complete health care which she has recovered from well each time that I have taken her. I have had her groomed there and boarded there as well because, I can feel assured that she will get the best care from the knowledgeable and friendly staff each and every time. They treat me with respect and kindness as they treat Sierra (my dog) as if she were their own personal dog. I would recommend that you give Cherokee Animal Hospital a try for you pet's needs because, I can truly say without hesitation that you will feel like family instead of just another number or client at a vet's office. They will put your pet's personal needs as a priority whether, you take them for a pet emergency, simple routine exam, or a day at the "doggy spa" for grooming. Maybe, you need to board your dog for whatever reason; then consider boarding your dog at Cherokee Animal Hospital. You can rest assure that your pet is in the best of care by the most capable and friendly staff. They have a place on their website you can check out their boarding facilities. I feel confident that my current dog, Sierra will be around a long time with them as my veterinary care providers. "Caring People. Caring for Pets". that says it all. _Lisa Watts

Kenneth Porche

My best friend and I arrived at this wonderful place and was taken right back to this great vet tech got vitals and the vet came in and treated my little girl with the most compassionate Care. This was my first visit there . The vet treated my little girl like she was her own.She confirmed what we thought. We left and made the trip home to NC . Missy has gone home. But I had almost 21 year's with her, I would highly recommend this office, to anyone needing help for your pet(best friend). Thanks for your compassionate Care.

Courtney Johnson

The staff here are wonderful! There is complimentary cold water and coffee, which is nice. Their boarding services are inexpensive and they are very kind with the animals. One of them even once gave me a ride back to my dorm after I had struggled with some medical problems walking my dog there a couple of years ago. They're very compassionate there. I take my kitty there now, and it's a lovely atmosphere.

Becky Brodio

One of the best vets there is! They are so kind. The receptionists are awesome and love all the pets that come in. I had to put my baby to sleep and they let me stay with her. Seriously you can't go wrong with this vet! I would recommend them to anyone.

The Tree Trimmer Tree Service

This place is outrageously expensive and in our opinion plays on animal owners emotions to build a bill. We have been taking our Yorky here for 8 years and always felt overcharged but really didn't know where else to go we felt trapped. Well not anymore this last visit was over $500.00 for less than an hour. We love our dog as if she was our child and we believe this place preys on that. Pet owners beware!! (Update 11-15-18 )seems funny how a review about cheaper vets are no good and paying extremely high prices to this place somehow makes more sense right after I wrote this review. I guess this may in my opinion explain why this place doesn't feel like they need to answer reviews. Could it be that this is the way they take care of negative reviews ????

Amber Castle

I was very happy with my recent visit. I’ve had trouble scheduling a follow up appointment for my pup because of a busy work schedule. I was running late for his appointment on Saturday and had to call to see if we could come in late. The staff was super kind and flexible and treated my pup with several treats. Like any pup he isn’t the biggest fans of shots! My father referred me to Cherokee Hospital for Animals and I will always recommend my friends with fur babies to come to Cherokee! Not only do they care for animals, they also care about their owners!

Tri-Cities TN friends please Help spread the word! Do not to take your pet to Cherokee Animal Hospital in Johnson City, TN! On Friday March 30, my daughter took Bagel to this vet because he had labored breathing and kept falling over. Bagel was 11 years old. I was in the area and I met her there. The vet we saw was just out of school. She stated that the he could have had either kidney failure or heart failure and treating 1 or the other could cause the other organ to fail. She stated a blood panel would help us know more. His panel came back that it was just his heart. We were informed that he was on oxygen and would benefit from a day stay in the hospital on diuretics (to remove fluid from heart) and would go home with 3 medications. The vet stated Bagel was unhappy with the O2 mask and that was why he was barking in the back and he might be calmer in an O2 cage. I asked the costs and she stated $40 an hour. I declined since he already had O2 on. Since my daughter is in school I prepaid around $530 for Bagel's stay and my husband and I left to drive home to Nashville (5 hours away) We left Bagel at the hospital and my daughter called around 3 pm to check on him and was informed he was not happy with the mask and in the cage but was feisty. This hospital did not do overnight stays and has an on call 24 hour vet hospital they use. Around 6 pm my daughter was called and informed Bagel was doing well and ready to be picked up and go home. This is the hard part of the story. At 7 pm I receive a call from my daughter crying. She stated that Bagel's tongue is grey and he is panting hard and floppy. What should she do? I informed her to call the on-call vet to see if he should be brought in and given more diuretic. The on-call hospital told her he had enough medicine at the animal hospital and to wait until the next morning for his next dose of medicine. I received another call from my daughter 30 minutes later informing me Bagel would not stand up and was having a hard time breathing and what should she do?? I told her put him in his bed and carry him to the car to take to he vet!! She said hold on MOM!!! I'll call you back, he is pooping. 5 minutes later I received ONE OF THE MOST HEART WRENCHING CALLS I have ever received from my daughter. She was inconsolable and could barely speak. Our sweet dog passed away in her arms before she could get him out the door! Her dad and I had to locate a vet hospital she could take him to for cremation. She placed him in his favorite bed with all of his favorite toys and dropped him off at a place she didn't know on a Friday night, she was told they would place him in a freezer until Monday. We have had to say goodbye to another family dog of 15 years and the vet was kind and told us when it was time. Looking back, I believe they knew it was "time" for our sweet Bagel and instead of doing the humane and kinder thing, they chose to make money. If he was doing that poorly at the end of the day, why not tell my daughter he needed to be transferred to another vet hospital? My husband has called the hospital all last week requesting and asking to speak to the owner. He was requesting that they deduct half of the bill. 1) We had to pay for cremation 2) We felt they were not honest in representation of the true issues Bagel had. We were informed the owner would not do any reimbursement by the staff and the owner will not return our call. Another supporting action that shows Cherokee animal hospital in Johnson City, TN cares more about money than animals and their families. I rarely make post such as this. But I am MAD our sweet dog suffered. I am MAD my daughter walked thru saying goodbye in such a terrible way and is left with that memory. I am MAD how this Vet has treated us in response to this incident. Please Share!

brenda crowder

Friendly helpful. Remembers both my dog's name and mine. My dog loves to go.

Katie Baker

I absolutely love the staff at Cherokee! I started going to Cherokee after my dog injured his leg, and I needed to see a vet quickly and conveniently (Cherokee is located just minutes from house in JC). From the minute I walked in the door, the front desk staff, the technicians and Dr. Carpenter treated me with care and respect. I have since transferred my other dog's care to Cherokee and hope to be a client of theirs for years to come. I can't speak highly enough of their services!

Jennifer McLeod

We have 4 dogs and we all love the staff at Cherokee! I really love that the dogs can be boarded and groomed there as well as seen for medical check-ups. You can even have their check-ups done while they are being boarded and take care of everything all at once! My husband and I highly recommend these guys for all of your pet care needs!

Wendy

They are always so kind. It's always very clean and everyone is very professional. Easy to get in and out. Great parking.

Bryan Kleske

A very caring team.

D B

Cajun catfish was great! Service was excellent! Atmosphere was great, too. Will go back again. Thank you.

Paige Neely

Owner beware. Never mistreated my animals, however they will run the bill up anyway they can. I thought paying a little extra for the best care was worth it but what they do isn’t necessary. Make sure what they do or give you is necessary for now and don’t let them coerce you. They put special hotspot cream in my bag without asking and my dog didn’t even have any open hotspots, they gave it to me “just in case”. Also gave me way more medicine than my dog needed for a two week taper. I have a friend who’s dog suffers from arthritis and they refused to give pain medicine unless she paid to do their laser therapy treatment as well. Also, you will feel very rushed and they don’t take the time to answer questions you have. A lot of dogs have ear infections when taken there, but you won’t ever see the culture swab, you’ll just pay and arm and a leg for the ear packing (and for the swab). The last time I went I took my dog in for scratching and came out with over $200 for the bill. Took my dog AND cat to Jonesborough for exams, bloodwork, shots, and flea collars and it was a little less than that! Unbelievable.

skyline_kid

Really great vet office and pet boarding. We have used them for boarding multiple times in the past 2 years that we've had our dogs and we have zero complaints. The dogs are always excited to go and you can tell everyone there loves animals and cares about them greatly. Their boarding prices are reasonable too. We've used the vet office a few times as well and have been equally impressed. I do wish they had Sunday pickup but that's not a huge deal. I highly recommend taking your dog here for boarding or vet visits

Leigh Widdows

There is no where else in JC to take your pet. The doctors are so caring and attentive and there staff follows suit. Our girl Katy hated vet trips until we moved here. She now runs to the door with her tail wagging :)

Jean Pennie

Great vet practice. As a visitor/non-client, they fit me in on an emergency basis with my sister's cat. Everyone was friendly and vet and techs were capable and kind.

ADA Linzalone

My two cats were spoiled rotten during their 10 day spa vacation away from home.

Gwhynn Higdon

I board my "4" babies here about 4-6 times a year. The office staff is VERY friendly, Ms. Angela always has a smile on her face and greets my crew with excitement. I do think their pricing is a little high, but all in all a great place to take your animals.

Rachael Vernon

Dr. Carpenter has been my go to vet in the Tri Cities for a little over four years now. Wouldn't trust anyone else with my four fur-babies! If anyone I know is in need of a vet, I always recommend her.

Keith Butler

Everyone is always friendly and courteous. We feel Bailey gets quality care at Cherokee. Keith & Cathy Butler

Karen Ricker

Cherokee Hospital for Animals has always been wonderful. They are so friendly and welcoming to both my husband and I AND our pets. They truly care about their patients and treat them like family. They are professional yet personable. The grooming service is top-notch as well.

Ashlee Miller

I have recently moved my dogs to Cherokee for their Vet care. I have 4 dogs. In the past 6 weeks we have been to the vet 3 times (1 surgery, 1 follow up, and one for "required blood work") Today, I had to take my 8.5 y/o female in for, what they called, a required blood panel before they would refill a Rx that she has been on for almost 7 years. Mind you, in 7 years she has NEVER been required to have blood work. EVER. I explained to the tech when we got into a room that I didn't feel it was necessary to have this blood work every 6 months as she has never needed it before. She left, came back in a few minutes later and told me Lilly was going to need a Bordetella vaccine as she was past due. I explained that she just had all her shots in April and she didn't need another. The tech then tells me "in OUR clinic we require it every 6 months". I informed her Lilly would not be getting that vaccine today. 15 minutes later the vet and and another tech come in, neither of them introduced themselves but I did read the Vet's lab coat, Dr. Sallee. Lilly has a fear a of men so I am very adamant that she have a female vet, but when these 2 walked in the room Lilly loudly barked and low growled, which she has NEVER done to a woman before. While Lilly is growling, the tech walks up to me, takes lilly's leash and starts to pull her across the floor..Lilly has all 4 brakes on. She's not going. I had to take the lead from the tech so she would stop dragging my dog across the floor. Dr. Sallee sat on the floor near me to try to make Lilly more comfortable..feeding her occasional treats. While they were trying to get use to each other I expressed my concerns and dissatisfaction with the every 6 month blood work requirement and that I thought it was unnecessary. This lady, raised her voice and in what I can only describe as a demeaning tone informs me that we have a fundamental difference of opinion and she does not approve of the term unnecessary. I again try to explain why I feel this way (7years with no blood work). She interrupts me, tells me I have the right to decline the blood work and SHE has the right to refuse to fill lilly's Rx. I apologized for taking her time this morning and informed her we would no longer be seen in this clinic. She stood up from the floor, threw the treat bag on the counter and stormed out the door. I have read the guidelines for Lillys Rx, it doesn't say ANYTHING about recommended blood panels. THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! The only 2 people that seem to genuinely care about the animals there are Angela and Dr. Carpenter.

Very thankful for their loving care to all of our pets throughout the years whether it was the veterinarian staff, the grooming staff or the boarding staff.

I will never go here again. I just moved up here and took my cat in for two routine shots required by my apartment lease. The techs were awesome - my problem was with the actual vet (Dr. Sallee, who apparently owns this business - ew). She tried pushing me into getting expensive tests (which were over $160), that my cat already had when he was a kitten - he is four right now. She was rude, pessimistic, and quite frankly, condescending. She was doing a basic physical examination on my cat and I tried asking her simple questions about some spots on his nose, and she made me feel so dumb and feel like an inconvenience for even inquiring about my cat's health. She saw that I was young and ASSUMED that I don't take care of my cat, which I do.Despite this "business" (felt more like scam with all the tests they tried pushing on me, to be honest) being close to my apartment, I'd rather drive further away than ever see that lady again. I've never felt so infuriating with a vet - and I've been to emergency vet clinics at 2AM. 0/10, wouldn't recommend. Oh yeah, and I don't *need* to come back in six months and hand you more money for those tests you "highly recommend", thanks.

I lived in Greeneville last year and had a wonderful veterinarian for my dogs. Recently I moved back to live with my husband in Unicoi. While I was gone he acquired 3 cats. In the wee hours of the morning one of the cats got sprayed directly in the eye by a skunk. I called my vet and she was not going to be in that day, but she told me it was imperative to get his eye flushed out. She told me to find a vet in my area and get to them as fast as I can. I called a couple of places who did not respond kindly enough and then realized Cherokee Hospital for Animals was closest to where I live. When I called them, they said to bring my cat right in. They were so kind, even helping me get him into the building since I was on a crutch. They took care of him so well and were so kind, I have decided to bring my other 2 cats there to get their vaccinations and checkups. This is a place where the entire staff truly loves the animals they treat. I don't think they view them as just animals but as extensions to your family. If you are looking for excellent care for your pet family member and like true kindness and courtesy for yourself, Cherokee is the place to go.

Alyson Baxter

If I could rate them higher I would. Beyond outstanding care for my baby boy and his 2 sisters that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Dr. Simpkins is amazing and the entire office staff, especially Angela, is so kind and helpful. I would NEVER trust my baby with anyone else but Cherokee!

Jill Molt

I moved here in August and needed a vet right away for our new dog. They got back to us right away and got our Bear in as soon as possible. They have always been very professional and caring. Recommend Cherokee Hospital to anyone!

Lauren Whitney

We take our two dogs here when they need veterinarian attention, and we also board them here. Both the veterinarian services and the boarding services are wonderful! I know they treat the animals well, because my dogs always get excited when they see the boarding staff ready to take them downstairs to the kennels! On top of that, all of the staff has always been extremely kind and helpful!

Brianna B

Where i used to live in another state when i took my cat in for his yearly shots the tech's would give him his shots and ask me if he was having any problems. Rarely ever did we see the vet. . .At this vet not only did the doctor herself talk with me but gave him the best exam he's ever had and gave me a ReportCard of everything he was checked for. I am very pleased with the service we receive there.

Ann Ericson

The place stinks of unwashed dogs. I have never smelled uncleanliness stench before in a Vet facility.

Hannah Mock

Everyone is so nice. My dog can be skiddish and they are very patient with her. The men and women that work their are always so happy and cheerful and love greeting all animals. They have so much love for their furry friends. I will always take my fur babies here.

nathan smith

I’ve never been to a vet where they don’t preform the checkup and shots in front of me but take them to a separate room then charge over 300$ for supposedly doing blood work and giving a clean bill of health just to have her die three days later. I took her in because she was sick told them her symptoms and was told she was fine? Never again

Ashley Ratliff

Dr. Carpenter and the team at Cherokee animal hospital are wonderful! They saved my puppy's life and they took really good care of her. We love them!

Christa Ryczywot

We take our 3 cats and our new puppy here and they have always be so helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to what our furbabies need

Amy P

The staff and vets are wonderful! I have used them for 10+ years. They always take great care of my fur babies and I would recommend them to everyone. I always feel welcome and well taken care of.

Dave Rust

My wife trusts them! There isn't a better recommendation than that. We've had German Shepherds for over 38 years and have lived all over the world. Cherokee Hospital for Animals is by far the best animal clinic we've ever taken our "kids" to. From the front desk staff to the Techs to the Vets, they're all great!

Aprile Carter

Always a great and friendly staff my dogs love it there

TKG Creations

Friendly and caring staff greets you and your fur baby as you walk in the door. They are always kind to your pet and treat them like you would. Never had an issue and if something comes up while your pet is in their housing, they will call you and see what you want to do. This is the only place for my babies Ariel and Maggie.

Katie Lee

I love this place for our dogs. We have four dogs and we take them all to Cherokee Hospital. They're great with all of our dogs not just for nail trims, but surgery as well. Our dogs love them and they're very considerate with our dog with arthritis and the dog that doesn't like men much.

Tara Smith

The staff at Cherokee are the best! They are so caring and loving to your babies. They have great communication and keep you up to date with what is going on and genuinely care about you and your pets.

Ashley Smith

I'd never take my cats anywhere else but here unless it was an after hours emergency. I've been going here for almost 11 years. My cat Zoey suddenly stopped eating and grooming. We took her here because it was close. They were able to discover it was a heart murmur in the same visit. Shes been on the medicine ever since and doing great. I take all of my six cats here and fully trust all the Veterinarians. They always diagnose my babies quickly and they genuinely care, as well as the receptionist. Thank you Cherokee staff!

Morgan Corbin

Moki and I loved the vet and all the staff there. They took great care of him and let me know what was going on at all times. They also called me a few days later just to check on him. I have never had another vet do that before. This attention to detail really makes me feel like they care and value us.

Joy Isom

I'm so glad I made the choice of bringing my new fur baby to Cherokee Hospital. This is mine & my children's first fur baby so all of this is new to us. Cherokee's staff has been beyond kind & compassionate towards my family & especially towards our little shihtzu puppy! Regardless of all my questions or concerns I'm NEVER made to feel like a bother or a inconvenience. The love & care each member of the staff have for their patients shows every time we walk through their doors!!

Eric Casey

My two dogs are our children. The love we have for them is something beyond explaining. So when our dogs need medical attention, there is no other place I would go than Cherokee Hospital for Animals. When you walk thru the door, you are greeted by a staff that remembers your name and your dog's name. It just like going to Cheers where everyone knows your name. I have full confidence in our vet. With all the allergy problems our Lucky had, she did everything in her power to make his life of a good quality. We are grateful!

Lyndsay Nelson

I have been taking my dog to Cherokee since I moved to Johnson City almost three years ago. We have consistently received great service and care from all their staff. Even in chaotic situations (e.g., when my dog was attacked by another dog in our neighborhood and also recently when she ate an entire bag of chocolate), we were able to receive immediate care and assistance. I would definitely recommend this vet.

Virginia Arnold

I recently moved to this area from Washington State where I had an exceptional Vet. The staff at Cherokee Hospital has equaled their service and gone beyond! I am so happy to have found them for my animals and hope to continue with their services for a long time to come.

anonymous_foxlady

Quick service and polite people and friendly

Becky Tilson

I highly recommend Cherokee Hospital For Animals for anyone who wants only the best for their fur-babies. Everyone there is so nice and you can tell that they truly love helping their patients. They take the time to answer all your questions and make sure you know what's going on at all times. When your fur-baby has to stay, you can get updates on them as often as you want and you can tell that they are in the best of hands. Cherokee is the only place I will ever take my babies.

Beth Vaughn

Dr. Carpenter is amazing. She is loving and patient with my Zoey. She always explains everything to me and never makes me feel rushed. We are always greeted when we walk in. When we leave the techs and receptionists always tell Zoey "goodbye." I have always been able to get an appointment the day I call. The waiting area is clean and inviting with complimentary bottled water, which is nice. The staff is knowledgeable and i feel like they truly care about my best friend. I like how we always get a healthcare report card on each visit for me to file to keep track of treatments and suggested treatments and an evaluation of the overall health of my pet. Zoey is older and very vocal during all of our visits. The staff is always accommodating and never gets upset by behavior issues. They try to ease her stress and comfort her. They are always loving and kind. They are more expensive than some area vets but I trust them completely with Zoey's health and we are always made to feel valued and appreciated so I feel like it's worth it. My experiences with this vet have always been exceptional. I have been Zoey's mom for 14 years and I want the best for her. I wouldn't trust her care to anyone else!

Elizabeth Pavluk

Can't foresee any reason to ever trust my beloved cats' health to anyone but the wonderful staff of Cherokee Hospital for Animals.

Sally Hale

I take both of my cats there. It's a tad pricey, but worth it.

Bass Head

Love this place! Always very welcoming and friendly. They board our dog everytime we go out of the country and always seems pictures and videos to let us know he's doing ok. Just great all around, we literally couldn't ask for a better place to take our pets!

Elizabeth Raudat

Professional staff through and through. Kind and courteous, best hair cut ever on my Scottish terrier. Impeccably clean facility. They truly all love what they do! Would highly recommend to any pet owner for care and boarding!

Bernice Keeton

Very good vet service and the price was good. The staff were very nice and caring.

Patricia Hippeli

We have had nothing but positive experiences with all the caring and knowledgeable Staff at Cherokee Hospital for animals. We have been here in the NE TN area for 5 years now and they have seen us through some tough times with our Maggie with her chemotherapy and surgeries. She is doing great now! We are so pleased that she is doing well now and have Dr. Simpkins and all the staff to thank!

Renee Tester

Great Boarding Staff! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a safe, caring space for their furry friends while they are away. During our trip overseas, they would send us e-mail updates on our pup!

Lauren Anderson

Dr Carpenter has by far, given my animals the best veterinary care... ever. We started bringing our animals to Cherokee after a terrible experience at another animal hospital. She is gentle with our special needs cat and is On top of our 3 cats and 1 dog's care. (We don't know the other veterinarians there, but I'm sure they are wonderful). Dr Carpenter is a great physician and always takes extra time and goes the extra mile for us. I don't know what we'd do without her! However, I need to note that the greatness of this hospital starts at the reception desk, all the staff are kind and friendly. The receptionists are always calm, helpful and understanding. The vet techs are gentle with our animals and try to ease the experience for them. They know different techniques to try with the animals to keep them as calm as possible through the stress of the visit. There's very little staff turn over there and we always see the same staff, which we think helps calm our animals. New people are stressful for our introvert cats! And our dog knows the vet techs....who give him lots of treats and make it a happy place. All of these reasons are why we love Cherokee. I'll not take my babies anywhere else.

Judy Archer

I have never had bad care here for my furbabies. The staff are warm and caring, always pleasant to talk with and eager to help me with whatever I am needing. Thank you to everyone there.

shawn laws

Can't say enough good things, the took great care if my kitten.

Trish bradshaw

Where I take my dog

Susan Delgado

The drs and staff are committed to the well being of your pets

Mark Fulks

Cherokee Hospital for Animals takes great care of my dog. The people are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for boarding and veterinary services.

Angel Edwards

Our dog’s first visit to Cherokee was made less stressful but the wonderful staff and atmosphere. Vet Tech Savanah was kind and competent and the Dr was super sweet. Their prices are definitely reasonable and much lower than our previous veterinarian.

Naomi Long

They actually care about your furbabies and go beyond what needs to be done. The veterinary take their time explaining everything throughly with you and what the cost is going to be. The staff is amazing. Cherokee Vet Hospital you all rock.

C Warmath

Both of my fur babies go here - they are always pleasant and have a genuine love for animals.

Mike McKinnon

We love the staff! They have taken pristine care of our 4 dogs over the last 9 years. Could not be happier with their veterinary and boarding care.

Gale P

Everyone was wonderful, they took care of my dog for 6 days. I think he would have stayed he enjoyed it so much. I would recommend 110%

Rita Spears

I wouldn't take my fur baby anywhere else. All the staff are so friendly and caring. Dr. Sallee is so compassionate and she is very thorough in giving you various options for your fur baby's care. She let's you make your own choices and I really like that. I have been to other veterinary offices through the years but this is by far the best and most friendly.

Melissa Buehler

This hospital is a great place to bring your dog/cat/loved ones for their annual check up. They have online appointment booking (with lots of options for time slots), are always willing to fax my dog's records to where ever they need to go (free of charge) and the staff is very friendly (with lots of treats). I know my dog is in good hands when I bring her in for a check up at Cherokee Hospital for Animals!

Emilee Lovette

Great service! Staff is super friendly and always very helpful! Highly recommended

James Handrinos

This place is a bit pricey but really seems to know what they're doing and care about our pets. Dr. Carpenter is our favorite. We recently brought one of our (5) pets to a cheaper facility (for a routine procedure), and were so disappointed when comparing them with Cherokee (across the board). Needless to say we will continue to highly recommend Cherokee Hospital for Animals to anyone with furry friends. : )

Stephanie Lane

Great place to take your animals. The staff is very caring and they're great to work with ya.

Cheryl Jordan

I was very impressed with Dr. Sallee and the staff. Everyone was very friendly and treated my dog with care. This was my first visit to this facility and I would highly recommend it to others.

Lisa Williams

Great vet. I have a very vet aggressive dog, and Dr. Simpkins has been the only vet in the tri-cities area that has been able to handle him and get what he needs done. Both of my dogs boarded there recently, and they came home tired and happy.
