When we actually need something important done or a true diagnosis made, we bypass the tens, maybe even 100+ of vets, and drive nearly an hour and a half to Cascade. We don't trust any other vet like we do Dr. West and Dr. Harris. Major negative when we made our move from the local area to Gallatin. Glad we are still within driving distance, though. For reference, we are breeders and have 10+ years of animal and vet experience. Cascade has by far been the best veterinary office we have ever dealt with.

If something is beyond their scope they will say so rather than risk your pets life they will refer you to a specialist. One of the receptionists sat with one of our dogs all day even on her lunch break because when he was neutered he had a bad reaction to the anesthesia. I have been going for years with multiple dogs and they are the only vet in the Region I trust. I went to other vets in that area and they did not treat me as a friend like Cascade. They will open at anytime or day to make sure my dogs are okay and will even call to get checks on him when he has been sick. They call when he is being boarded 3 times a day to let me know how he is doing... I changed vets about 7 years ago when every other vet in town would not meet about an emergency since it was a holiday. They took their time and ever since I have been a loyal customer.

This vet killed my horse. She was born unexpectedly in April 2016 (the vet didn't notice the mare was pregnant when he vaccinated her a month prior) and when I called them expressing my concern that the foal wasn't nursing and hadn't been expected, the rude receptionist assured me everything was fine and no one would come out. The next day the foal was down and very sick. Dr. West instructed me to drive her to the clinic, where he treated her for an hour and sent us home. She did not improve and got worse, so I had a TN Equine Hospital vet come within 10 mins of arriving back home. He did a colostrum test IN HIS TRUCK: the foal had not gotten ANY. She was septic, and euthanized. I was devastated. If Dr. West had come when I initially called right after the foal's birth, or if he administered the colostrum test at his clinic, she would have been saved. Not only did they effectively kill my horse, but they have the audacity to continue to send me bills almost a year later via certified mail. Cascade will never get a cent from me after this gross incompetence.

Dr. West is one of those special veterinarians who care about the animal and wants to not only treat the animal but figure out the underlying cause of the issue. My horse was diagnosed by Dr. West as having a thyroid issue. He took the time and drew blood and got my horse started on Thyro L. Also, I had a sick gelding that he came out to see and asked that we get him to the clinic as soon as possible. He saved the horse. He then came back out to walk the pasture to see if there was a poisonous plant he may have ate. He has always treated my animals and me very well. He has always treated us more than fair on his services. I feel blessed that he chose to be a veterinarian and that he has the drive to diagnose, treat, and determine the cause.

The vet himself is well informed and helpful while the prices remain affordable and fair, however there was a real problem with the other employees. We had an emergency with our cat's eye that led to us having to rush him in without an appointment, worried he might have very well lost his eye. We were worked in fairly quickly and the vet soon came to help us. He told us the two things we would need, the most important being a antibiotic with steroids to clear up his infection. All seemed to be fine and we waited for the techs to come in and to give us the medicine and the price. The woman came in to give us the medicine and told us the total would come to about $60. We said this would be fine but would have to give them a credit card seeing as this was a surprise and we didn't have the money on us. Her demeanor immediately changed but she eventually left us to get the card. Next a different woman entirely came in and said the vet had decided we didn't need the medicine he originally told us we needed and took it with her quickly. While we were on the phone getting the card number another woman came in and interrupted us several times until we finally gave up to listen to what she needed. She began with a lecture around the lines of "we want your cat to get better but can't do it for free" blah blah blah. She then talked us into signing a form stating we would pay the following Friday. She even went as far to tell us how we HAD to pay by then or call her. She also told us because we hadn't paid the total amount yet we would not be getting the medicine and the total would now be $40. Keep in mind this is now two different stories about why we weren't allowed the medicine. We had an account and had used this vet several times and had well established credit and always paid in full and never had these issues. In the end we are pretty sure they simply thought we were trying to skip payment and tried to catch us in the act. This all coupled with being talked down to and treated like children trying to pull something over on them left a very bad taste in our mouths. These women even went as far as motioning and glancing at each other right in front of us as to say they were right about us. We paid promptly on time as we have numerous times at this office. We don't plan to come back because of this. Overall the vet himself is good however the help is simply condescending and rude.

Several years ago I took my dog Oreo in for an ACL year to Bluepearl and had it surgically repaired for about 3400 dollars. Last year she tore her other ACL and I took her to Dr. West. She has extensive health issues and upon spending the first 20 mins of the visit calming me and reassuring me he could repair it no problem and take care of her, he then stated “well I won’t lie, it will be about 600.” I asked “well if that’s just for the meds I guess I’ll do it”. He then stated that was for EVERYTHING. I paid 600 here with dr west vs 3400 at bluepearl. Not to mention there were no complications and the leg he repaired is MUCH stronger than the repaired leg bluepearl worked on. He also gave her better pain meds cause he knew of her history of epilepsy and worked all the pain medications and anti inflammatories around that. You can not go wrong with dr west.

Dr. Bardroff and his wife were so nice. Last night was our first time working with them due to our 3 month old filly colicing. She pulled through and he was so gentle and patient with her. He even helped us track down our gelding which broke out of the other pasture and all are safe and sound! NOT MANY VETS LIKE THEM!!!!! WILL USE THEM AGAIN! I highly recommend them to anyone!

AVOID THIS VET due to overcharges. I used Dr West for a farm call, and he seemed nice enough, is good with animals, but then it ended in holy terror. I had gone over all the prices in detail on the phone PRIOR to his visit, getting the prices from his office mgr Ashley. I got the worse case scenario price as well, so I knew what I was up against. He did the work, said they would bill me, and when I got the bill, it was 70 dollars over what she quoted!!!!. Months before this farmcall, Ashley went over the prices, then says to call back at which she says, no, he does not service this area. Then when he was at this farmcall, he said yes, he does service my area. Ok people, make up your mind. Gave him a 1 star because they tell you one thing on the phone and is another when they get there, and the protocal was exactly what I asked and was quoted on the phone!!!!!!!!! Here is the kicker: When I got the bill and saw that I was overcharged $70, this nightmare receptionist says the vet is not going to see me again. All because I simply asked about the overcharge. Her demeanor is what I consider extremely arrogant, as if someone got a control freak in their office where the customers are treated as a criminal and everything is the customer fault. Basically what she said is he charged me to talk to him or ask any questions.... WTH!!!! this is unbelievable. I never heard of a vet charging to ask basic questions. Also turns out he recommended Questplus for worming for mini-donks which EVERYONE who breeds says not to use. I asked the receptionist to have the DR call and he never called. Rude !

What should have been a simple procedure,ended up a two month ordeal and ultimately my dog losing her eye. Dr.West performed surgery on her ear for a hematoma. When I picked her up the following Monday, her eye was not right and her nose was crusted over. She was sent home with no meds and no cone, mind you her ear had been sliced and stitched. I called after getting her home and inquired about the cone and lack of meds at least antibiotic, I was dismissed and told to come back in 10 days for stitches to be removed. Two days later, her ear looked like it had opened up, she had breathing issues and the eye was worse. I called again and Was again dismissed and told it would be the following Monday before she could be seen. I went to another vet who had to perform a second surgery on the ear to correct the issues. The one Dr West did is a very antiquated procedure. Also, she had an eye ulcer which happened while being cared for at Cascade. After two months of treating the eye, hospitalization so meds could be administered every two hours, the eye could not be saved. Her ear finally healed and she is a happy heeler now. To say I am disgusted is an understatement. Ultimately, she lost the eye. Nothing will make her 100%. I am just grateful that she is with me and they didnt kill her. I am sickened to think she suffered in pain and they did nothing. I rarely write negative reviews and do try to be objective. In this case it was negligence and cruelty. There is no excuse for the treatment or lack thereof. Just like doctors, we look to veterinarians to take care of our four legged family members. We trust them to help us make informed decisions and that our pets are getting appropriate care. As a pet mom, I failed my girl and a trusted them. Maybe you will have better luck... I felt like I needed to share my story so you can make an informed decision.

I would give Cascade Veterinary Hospital ZERO stars if I could. We brought Abby to your clinic on 17 March 2015 after noticing that she was lame on her right fore. Dr Harris did a brief exam and took the xrays. He showed me the radiographs and discussed with me the aspects of what he saw with her bones and joints. He stated that he did not notice anything abnormal, whereas you said to us yesterday that there was the appearance of an occlusion (?) above her elbow on those radiographs. When Dr Markovich examined Abby on 3 April, she dismissed a lump (that my husband found in her R fore elbow area and brought to her attention) as a ‘benign fatty tumor’ and was more concerned with Abby’s hip, saying that she thought Abby might be having some hip dysplasia. She suggested that we focus on Abby’s weight and have her lose 10 pounds. She said nothing about the cruciate ligament. Meanwhile, Abby’s pain was focused more on her right front leg, more that her hind, to the point that she was hesitant to put any weight at all on it (RF). Dr Harris was apparently concentrating on possible joint damage, and Dr Markovich made the comment "Oh, she's a German Shepherd, so she (obviously) has hip dysplasia." Abby's pain level became worse, and we were given increasingly stronger pain meds. Being concerned, I left several messages with the receptionist (during office hours), asking for a return call. After several days of their not calling back, I confronted Marla West on April 15, 2014 in the parking lot before opening business hours. When Dr West examined her on 17 April he stated was apparent to him that she had some damage to her right cruciate ligament as well as what appeared to you without question an osteosarcoma and not a lipoma, and that statistically the prognosis of life expectancy is short. At that time, Abby was still exhibiting more pain with her RF than her RH. On Monday morning we scheduled to have Our Beloved Abby euthanized; the appointment time was 9:15 AM. We arrived at 9 AM, and were escorted to an examination room. I sat with Abby on the floor until 10:45, at which time a technician came into the room, and without a word, knelt down and administered the kill injection. There was no conversation from her, or her assistant; I was in shock at what had just occurred. We left the clinic, but later I scheduled an appointment with Bobby West, to go over Abby's records and try to understand how something that was so obvious to him could have been missed by the other veterinarians in his service. He entered the exam room, crossed his arms and when I asked him about what had happened, his exact words were "I don't know what they saw." I was flabberghasted. I expected him to show some semblance of compassion, or, at the very least, have Abby's chart in hand for discussion. Instead of exhibiting ANY sense of empathy, he was very defensive. I only wanted to know what had happened, and hopefully not to ever have it happen to anyone else. The initial misdiagnosis - by two of the doctors in the clinic, and the not returning of the phone calls was bad enough, but Bobby West's callousness afterward was reprehensible. At the very most, we would have wanted him to go over the events that took place over the previous month. At the very least, we expected some hint of sympathy, even if it was to just say, “I’m sorry this happened to you.” It never happened.

I have recommended them to anyone who has asked where to go. I took my furry baby of 11 years to another vet when they were closed. I was deseperate due to how bad off she was. I have learned to never do that again. The other local vet wouldn't offer any services to my dog because I couldn't afford a down payment that moment except for 50 bucks. WON'T BE BACK!!! I AM GLAD IT WAS AN UNDERDOSE INSTEAD OF AN OVERDOSE!!! Cascade Veterinary Hospital has been underdosing my 22.4 lb. Boston Terrier since 4-03-14 with Trifexis Pink 5-10#. My dog should have been receiving the Trifexis Green 21-40#. I just noticed the mistake MYSELF on 8-02-14. I talked to Dr. West when I returned the wrong dose of Trifexis Pink 5-10# on 8-05-14. Dr. West said he would honor a Heartworm test for free to make sure my dog was safe. I returned to Cascade Veterinary Hospital on 8-06-14 to receive the test. My dog tested negative. THANK GOODNESS!!! I asked the receptionist if they would honor the three doses of Trifexis Pink 5-10# they prescribed my dog for the three correct doses of Trifexis Green 21-40#. She said they would. I also asked Dr. Kathryn Sanders, while she was examining my dog, if they would honor my three incorrect doses of Trifexis Pink 5-10# they prescribed my dog for the three correct doses of Trifexis Green 21-40#. Dr. Kathryn Sanders said she would give me the correct doses of Trifexis Green 21-40#. When I got to the check out the receptionist said that the three doses of Trifexis Green 21-40# wasn't the agreement. Since my dog tested negative for Heartworm (THANK GOODNESS!!!) that's all they could do was honor the free Heartworm test. I don't appreciate Dr. Kathryn Sanders telling me she would honor the doses of Trifexis Green 21-40# and the receptionist telling me that wasn't the agreement. I should have recorded my conversation with Dr. Kathryn Sanders for proof!!! Cascade Veterinary Hospital didn't have my other dogs shot records. I had to show them my records so they could update theirs! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!! BE LEERY OF CASCADE VETERINARY HOSPITAL!!! I AM JUST GLAD IT WAS AN UNDERDOSE INSTEAD OF AN OVERDOSE!!!
