I can't praise the staff and Dr. Honey enough. They are beyond amazing, compassionate and caring people. I had to have my Lhasapoo Bevo put down there this week and their kindness is something I will never, ever forget. That was possibly the hardest things I've ever had to do and they made it as easy as they could for me. I wanted to give a special thank you to the staff member that helped me get Bevo back to my car so I could lay him to rest and hugged me because of how upset I was. You are all amazing people and the people and pets of Murfreesboro are lucky to have you.

"edited" Due to a phone call to my son that you'd bring suit for leaving a negative truthful experience review, which I made, not him. So here is a revised plain and simple experience review: The reason for a negative review was because both my vets receptionist (I, as well as my son and his girlfriend, was standing there as she spoke to your receptionist) called and I called also and we were both refused pups treatment records until the remainder of the bill paid was in full. It was almost office closing time on a friday and they could not treat the pup without that information so he would of had to go a lengthy time without additional treatment. The receptionist was firm, "no money, no records." The pup in life risk needed additional parvo treatment and records were critically needed for another vet to do so. We raised the money just in time and you released the records.

So we have been taking our pets there for a few years. We have a dog and a cat. Is there receptionist the best, no, but she does her job efficiently. I just called to ask a question and even though I was put on hold for a few minutes, when she did get back on she took the time to look up my cat's file and answer my questions and I know if I had needed to talk to Dr. Barker, she would have taken my information down and made sure he called me back today. When I have had to bring both of my animals in the people have always been courteous and helpful. I also like that if you have a reasonable budget, that they will work with you to give your animal the best care and stay within that budget.

To Todd Tabb, sorry about what you think happened. I have been taking my dogs there for years and have never had a problem. If your dog bit someone from what I understand about the law is that your are suppose to quarantine your pet for so many days and have a veterinarian exam them to make sure that there is no problems. If you were charged for the exam you should be it is your dog that bit someone.

I carried my rescue dog in to get him his shots and get him groomed. I received a call that my pet had bit the groomer. Then was told to quarantine my dog for about a week and bring him back for a checkup. I was assured by the doctor that there would not be a charge for the recheck in a week. However when I arrived, Dr Barker was out and the new doctor charged me $28 to visually look at the dog. I was told that Dr Barker would call me about the charge when he returned. But I never received a call. I think I was just gouged for an extra charge and would not ever use this vet again.

The staff at Barfield Animal Hospital are as kind and thoughtful as they come. My wife and I have taken our three dogs here for many years, and we continue to drive to Murfreesboro from Nashville whenever we need to see a vet. If I could give zero stars I would. This is the WORST vet you could ever take your animal to! They charged $185 to not even fix my dog's ear infection. Mind you they sprung the $185 on me at checkout and when I was $19 short tried keeping my animal until I brought the $19 back. They are very unprofessional. When I called after taking my dog to another vet,that would charge me $63 dollars to fix her ear infection that they didn't fix, I called and spoke to the vet who said he feels he did nothing wrong and hung up on me. They are the rudest, most expensive vet I've ever been to. I wouldn't take an ant there. All they do is steal people's money.

Had to take our dog in there today.. She hadn't been feeling well in 2 days, so I called and they got me in as a walk in. Dr. Barker was very quick with his assessment, explained everything that he was thinking, and or doing. Even got a second opinion just to make sure he was on the right track. Even though their offices closed at @:30, they ended up staying in an emergency procedure until 4 pm to operate on my "kinsey".. He was very upfront with expectations that I could have, as well as open and honest with me about her prognosis.... As of right now, she is in their "overnight" cage, and is in Gods hands now... They even let me stay until she was out of "anastesia" so that I could visit with her before I had to leave.. So efficient and helpful.. The only thing I wish was different is that I could come visit my baby while she was in there. But I know that is not their business model, and am not saying anything negative toward her care or treatment... I recommend Dr. Barker and his staff... Murfreesboro needs more Vets like him where the bottom line is quality care for the animals and not the bottom line..

Horrible RECEPTIONIST named Suzanne. I walked in Friday with an emergency at 7:00 am, I had been waiting since 5 am for them to open to avoid the emergency clinic and wanted to be seen by "our" vet (Dr. Barker) of almost 5 years....only to be treated very rudely by the receptionist. She was very rude, non-caring and didnt care about my pet whatsoever. I have no idea why Dr. Barker keeps her at the front desk, there are even other comments here about her rudeness. Needless to say, we took our dachshund elsewhere and WILL NOT BE BACK.

Last week I took my dog cali in for an infection that was causing her much misery. The vet I spoke with was very rude and took lightly her condition. He treated her ear infection saying she should be good as new in a few days. After surprising us with a 200 dollar bill for a simple ear drain she did not get better. I called back to find out what was going on. I only got rudeness and was hung up on for questioning their treatments. Very ride and poor quality I wouldn't recommend taking any of your loved ones for treatment!

I first found Barfield in 2014 after a bad experience at another vet when my Westie, Angel, was at end of life. She had never had seizures before and then started having multiple a week, sometimes multiple a day. The other vet treated me like a helicopter mom, said nothing could do about it, and gave me glucosamine for her joints. Then I took her to Barfield, Dr. Honey agreed the volume of seizures were concerning, spoke to me like an adult, and helped managed her care. She stopped having seizures and lived comfortably another 6 months or so. Now we have two Scotties, Alonzo and Jimmy, almost 5. The staff ar Barfield have not only keep our dogs healthy and nails trimmed, they helped us survive the puppy stages of injured legs and swallowed toy parts that got stuck inside the stomach. Dr. Barker also discovered which dog was responsible for the chewed up remote control after finding a button in an xray.

While visiting from out of town our 7 yr old maltipoo became ill. We called Saturday morning and had an appointment scheduled for 10. All the staff was so friendly and helpful. I had a grooming appointment Monday, November 25, 2013. I was told to drop off my dog between 7 and 8 AM. I arrived at 7:35 AM. I filled out the paperwork since my dog had not been there before. I brought a copy of his shot records as well. The receptionist called over the intercom system requesting a tech to come to the front for a grooming appointment. She called 3 times between the time I arrived to 7:57 AM. For the whole time I was waiting she did not once look at the paperwork I filled out. She was working on another file. I asked her if it normally took this long to get someone to come up front and she told me that they were busy. After she called for a tech the 3rd time I was pretty much fed up. I told the receptionist I would find another groomer. She apologized but didn't seem to care. I walked out and will not be going back.

Very clean and well laid out. Staff are very attentive and polite. Only reason I can't give a 5 star is my first few visits I felt pressure to have an expensive allergy test done on my pet. Almost felt as though the vet wouldnt listen to the symptom descriptions and jumped directly towards, what I felt, would be beneficial to himself. I still go there because it's close to the house and my last visit the veterinarian that saw my pet was very insightful and also knowledgeable about the issues my pet was having. Her recommendation had a major impact on the overall quality of my pets life and she helped me pick something that wouldn't be harmful on my pet's liver or other bodily organs. To sum this up, I believe, this is an exemplary office, just be cautious of recommended solutions. Maybe a different opinion is just the trick.

The folks here are mediocre at best, they do not do as they say they will. I mean can't even get a phone call back from them, have to keep calling in. This is after paying for treatments that do not work, these folks are for sure rookies and seem to start at the bottom till they luckily fix a poor animal. Save yourself time and money as well as your poor animal suffering and go somewhere else! Good luck people, your going to need it.

Dr Honey is a wonderful vet - very knowledgeable, thorough and interested in continuing education. We have a new Great Dane puppy, a breed prone to bloat/torsion which can be fatal. As a preventative measure, it's common to do surgery to tack the stomach so that it cannot torsion. There are different approaches to this surgery and Dr. Honey was eager to check to see what the currently recommended protocol is before going forward. Every time we've had our dogs & cats into the office, we've been very happy with the experience, the care and thoughtfulness, as well as the cost for visits, medications, procedures and foods.

Do not take your animals here. A friend of mine had an interview at this place and was shocked at the things she saw and heard. No animals were hurt or anything like that. Just the way the male doctors discussed the clients was horrible. Very politically incorrect to put it nicely. Would not give these people a penny. One day after coming home from school I noticed my cat was developing an upper respiratory infection. He was prone to them so I knew what it was right away, but I care about my fur babies and knew I needed to get him to the vet as soon as possible for medicine. This was about 30 minutes before they closed so I knew it would be last minute, so I called and explained and they told me to get there as soon as I could. I only lived 5 minutes away, so after getting everything prepared I was there before 5:10. I was treated with rudeness from every person on the staff. Yes I was aware it was last minute, but I called as soon as I noticed and got there as quickly as I could. If it was too late they could have told me. After treating me like an idiot they charged me OVER 200 dollars for the medicine, a flea pill (because the doctor said that could have been causing him his recent hair loss which isn't what I was worried about at that point), and his medicine for his infection. It was a lot of money period, but with the way they treated me I wanted nothing to do with them after treating me with as much disrespect as they did me. NEVER DID AND NEVER WILL I GO BACK.
